Chapter 6: Man On The Moon
** "I hope you can hear me. I remember it clearly. The day you slipped away. Was the day I found it won't be the same. There you go, somewhere. You're not coming back."
**Special Chapter Song: Slipped Away by Avril Lavigne**
"This isn't looking good." Allison spoke from beside Esme who had her arms over her head, shielding herself.
"Can't You rumor them?!" Diego called from a couple spots over.
"Not when they have infinity amo!" She shouted.
"We need to get out of here we're basically sitting ducks." Klaus spoke up from beside Ben.
Esme looked back up and saw one of her demons.
"Guys. I got a plan. When you hear the first scream. Make a run for the next room!" She yelled to them.
"What?" Diego asked.
"Just do it. Ok?!" She gave him a look than looked at the demon.
"Meg..."
The demon smirked as she quickly went to work and when a scream went off they all quickly headed to the exit.
One of the criminals quickly grabbed Esme from behind and slammed her on the ground.
"Bitch." He hissed at her as blood ran down from his forehead.
She quickly kicked his one leg than punched him in the face as she stood up quickly.
The man aimed his gun at her and Ben quickly knocked him to the ground.
"Esme Get Out of here!" He shouted to her.
"I'm not leaving you!" She shouted back and he gave her a small smile before pushing her through the door and slamming it.
"Ben!" She shouted and tried to open the door but it was locked.
"Ben open the door!" She shouted as she looked at him through the glass door and he started to step back.
"Ben!" Klaus shouted.
"Ben!" Esme shouted again and slammed her hands on the door as tears began to build in her eyes as more screams echoed from the room.
Ben was suddenly slammed against the glass door and his eyes were looking in Esmes' eyes.
Blood splattered on the glass door making Esme let out a small cry as Klaus wrapped his arms around her and looked at his bestfriend, tears in his eyes as well.
Blood fell out of Bens mouth and he was yanked off of the door, the only thing left was a big splatter of blood dripping down the glass door, making its way where the Hargreeves kids were standing. The blood puddling at Esme and Klaus feet.
Esme opened up her eyes and let out a groan as she looked to her side and hissed in pain.
"Hey." Esme turned her head to her side and saw Diego.
"How are you feeling?" He asked softly.
"Hurts." She told him softly and he ran his hand over her head gently.
"I'm fine though." She reassured him as he placed his hand back in his lap and she began to sit up.
"Esme You should rest." Diego told her as she groaned a bit more.
"I'm tired of resting." She stood up from the bed and began to make her way out.
"Uh. Esme. One more thing." Diego stood up as well and she turned to him.
"What is it?" She asked as he looked at her debating if he should tell her what happened to Mom.
"Nothing. Just be careful." He told her and she smiled to him, before walking over and wrapping her arms around him, he did the same but made sure to be gentle.
"Will do Diego." She smiled and pulled away, heading out of the room.

Esme sat on a bench watching kids play on the playground. She wished she was able to do that at their age. She lost count of how many times she begged her father to let her go play with other kids.
"You're starring and it makes you look creepy." She heard a voice from beside her and saw it was Iyla.
"Iyla?" She questioned not believing who she was seeing.
"That's my name." He smirked a bit.
"Now you're even more weird because you're talking to yourself." He commented as she grabbed her phone from her purse and put it to her ear.
"Didn't want the police to get called." He spoke, mostly to himself.
"I-I thought your spirit died or something." She looked at him a bit shocked.
"I'm pretty good at not dying. My kind at least." He shrugged, shifting his body forward on the bench.
"Daro."
He let out a stifle laugh.
"You remembered."
"The last time I saw you was when I was seventeen. Why did you leave?" She questioned as he kept his gaze on the playground.
"I don't know." He lied, but if course Esme couldn't tell he was lying. She always hoped people would tell the truth and would believe them.
The truth was that Iyla liked Esme more than friends. He first found her when she was twelve years old.
She was afraid of him at first but he showed her that he was nice. To her anyways. Iyla was cruel to everyone else that he encountered, killed them even, but he found Esme to be his favorite.
He practically watched her grow up and when she was seventeen he left, tried to forgot all his feelings for her, but of course it didn't work. He can't admit them to her.
He's over a thousand years old.
She's only 29
He's evil
She's good
It just wouldn't work.
Her phone started to ring, making her jump and wince since it was already near her ear. She saw it was Diego and answered it.
"Yeah?" She asked as Iyla sat up straighter and watched her.
"Oh. Ok. I'll be right there." She stood up and turned to Iyla.
"I have to go." She told him.
"I'll see you around." His monotone voice sounded throughout her ears and she nodded, quickly making her way to Diego.
~~~
"Well We can't go back to the house it's not secure there. Those psychopaths could come back any minute." Luther spoke as he was carrying a drunk Five and Dolores in his lap.
Esme was walking in front of them beside Diego as she listened.
"My place is closer. No one would look there." Diego told them as Five let out a burp.
"If you vomit on me..."
"You know what's funny? Ahhh. Going through puberty. Twice now! And uh. I drank that whole bottle now didn't I?" He asked Luther as Diego and Esme looked at each other and rolled their eyes.
"That's what you do. When the world you love goes bye-bye. Poof. It's gone." He looked towards Diego and Esme.
"What are you guys talking about?"
"Two masked intruders attacked the academy last night. Esme got shot in the process." Luther explained and Five looked to her.
"I'm fine." She reassured him.
"They came looking for you. So I need you to focus." Diego started to have a tone with him.
"Hazel and Cha-Cha." Diego turned to him a bit.
"I hate code names."
"Why Cha-Cha? Does that person like the cha cha slide?" Esme smiled a bit.
"Esme Not now." Diego told her and her smile fell.
"Sorry." She mumbled a bit as Diego turned around to Five and Luther while Esme continued to walk not realizing they stopped.
"Esme." Luther called out to her as she stopped and waited.
"Sorry. Got distracted by my own thoughts." She told him truthfully as they walked to Diego's place.
Five was passed out and Luther laid him down on Diego's bed.
Esme ran her hands through his hair gently as she smiled down at him.
"I remember all those times when I would sneak into his room to see if he came back, but always found an empty bed. Now when I see him I don't believe he's really back till I make contact with him." She told the two brothers.
"We have two different feelings then." Diego admitted.
"If He wasn't such a prick I would think he's adorable when he sleeps."
Esme gave him a look and punched his arm lightly.
"Don't worry. Soon when he sobers up he'll be back to his usual self." Luther admitted.
"What do you think he met by the-" Luther got cut off by the sound of someone behind the door.
Diego quickly took his knife out as Esme stood up.
Diego walked up the stairs quietly and opened up the door quickly.
"If you throw another one of those goddamn knives at me I'm pressing charges!" An older voice yelled as Diego rolled his eyes.
"What do you want Al?" He asked as an older man walked in.
"Some lady called. Saying she needed your help.
"What lady?" Diego questioned.
"I don't know. Some detective. I think she said her name was Blotch or something."
"Patch? She needs my help." Diego quickly made his way back to Al.
"She needs your help at this hotel." He handed him a piece of paper.
"When?"
"Uh. A half an hour ago. She said she found your brother." Al made his way out and the three siblings looked at each other.
"Klaus."
Diego quickly made his way out as Esme took a seat.
"Esme." She turned her head and saw Iyla was standing a few feet away from her.
"Uh. I'll be outside. I need to.." she didn't know how to explain it to Luther.
"Wait. Where are you going?" He raised an eyebrow and she made her way to the door.
"I'll just be out here. Bye." She smiled widely and exited, closing the door.
"What?" She asked Iyla as she leaned against the wall.
"There's something you need to know."
"What?"
"The apocalypse is coming." He started.
"Yeah. I know. Time traveling brother." She shrugged as he shook his head.
"You're going to die." He looked at her.
"Yeah If Five doesn't stop it. Iyla I know-"
"He didn't tell you everything!" He yelled a bit.
"What do you mean?" She questioned.
"When your brother saw the academy destroyed and the bodies of your siblings. The thing is you weren't there." He explained, going back to his usual tone.
She looked at him a bit confused as he looked down than back at her.
"You die before the apocalypse even happens."
