Chapter 17: Valhalla

"The devil's on your shoulder
The strangers in your head
As if you don't remember
As if you can forget
It's only been a moment
It's only been a lifetime"

"Anymore questions, Elliot?" Five held his mug of coffee, looking at the man annoyed.

"Uh, no." Elliot murmured.

"You're missing the big picture here. Dad is the ringleader of a sinister cabal that is planning on killing the president!" Diego raised his voice a little while Luther just looked at him from the kitchen table, his mouth full of scrambled eggs.

"A cabal?" Luther raised an eyebrow.

"Ignore him." Five pointed to Luther, once again his voice and facial expression filled with annoyance.

"Look, the way I see it, we only have one option."  Five told Luther calmly, leaning against the counter while looking at the two.

"Oh, yeah and what's that?"  Luther questioned over his mouth filled with egg.

"It's time to get The Umbrella Academy back together."  Five answered with a determined face.

"Hell, yeah. Family meeting.  Oh, wait. One problem.  No one knows where Esme is."  Diego looked to Five and he didn't bother to say anything.

"Are you sure you have no idea where she is?"  Diego asked.

"Trust me Diego.  If I knew where she was. I would've found her way before you."  Five told his brother clearly annoyed by his question.

"I'll get Allison.  You get Vanya."  Five changed the discussion as he looked to Luther.

"Just don't crush her to death."  He finished before flashing off.

"Wait-"  Elliot then looked at the remaining siblings and coughed slightly, pointing to himself.

"What should I do?"  He asked.

"Prepare for company."

Esme swept the floor into the pan, bending down and picking it up before going over to the trash can and throwing it away. She looked around the room and nodded slightly. There were some holes in the furniture and walls, but it looked way better then it did the night before.

Esme continued to sweep until the phone went off and she set the broom down, walking over to the table and picking up the phone.

"This is Esme." She answered.

"Hey Essie." Thomas was on the other line, smiling as he was in front of a pay phone, watching some people as they walked down the street.

"Hi Thomas." She smiled, her teeth showing slightly.

"Just calling to see if you want me to make dinner tonight. I was thinking spaghetti or I can always pick something up from the diner."

"Either one works. As long as I'm not cooking." She played with the curled wire on the phone, leaning against the wall.

"Alright, I'll surprise you then." He rested his hand on the wall in front of him, turning slightly, before his eyes caught a figure.

He didn't hear anything that she was saying through the other line, his eyes stuck on the figure a bit away from him before they flickered to two more.

"Hey. Esme. I got to go. Love you." He said in a rushed voice, slamming the phone in its place.

His eyes fixated on three people, and two of them he could see the same tattoo on their arm that Esme had.

"It's in there." The fifteen year old told the other two, pointing to some type of television and radio store further down, passing Thomas.

That's all it needed to take Thomas before he was running down the street and back to the house. It was only a few blocks away, he should get there in two minutes, keeping this speed.

Once he got to the house he threw the door open. "Esme!" He shouted, a bit out of breath as she looked at him confused.

"Thomas what happened?"

"I just found a few of your family members." He told her seriously and her eyes widened. She honestly never thought she would hear him say that.

Allison, Five, and Klaus entered the store, Five leading the way as they stood at the bottom, Allison and Klaus looking up.

"Is anyone here? Hello." Allison called out.

"Le petit mort, le petit mort." Klaus said right after.

"What? You don't speak French." Allison looked at him, laughing a bit as they stopped walking.

"It's 'little death'". Klaus smiled.

"Oh....wow." Klaus said as he saw three of his siblings looking down at him.

"I know this is impossible, but...did we all get sexier?" He asked with a wide smile.

"Vanya?" Allison asked and Vanya smiled.

"Can't believe I have a sister." She said happily.

The siblings made their way down to their siblings and Klaus held onto Diego while Diego looked at him.

"Oh. You are drunk." Diego told him.

"Oh, no. Just a....just a few....hey." He pulled away from Diego and looked around.

"I may be a little out of it, but don't we have another sister?" Klaus questioned.

"Yeah. Where's Esme?" Allison looked from Diego to Five.

Neither said anything as Five tapped his foot slightly, looking around then to Allison.

"I don't know where she is. We're just going to have to do this without her." Five sighed.

"But she's our sister. What if she's out there alone and scared?" Allison looked at her brother.

"Or maybe she has a family." Klaus' eyes lightened up.

"Like. A husband and maybe a few kids, one named after me." He placed a hand on his chest.

"We should-" Allison cut herself off at the sound of the door opening, everyone's eyes snapping over as Thomas made his way in. The siblings looking at the hooded figure confused.

"Who the hell are you?" Five furrowed his eyebrows.

Thomas didn't say anything, he held the door open a bit wider before Esme made her way in, her eyes scanning on each of her siblings, no one saying anything.

Diego's mouth fell open slightly as he took in the appearance of his sister. She was in a light blue dress, her hair up, while two strands were a bit curled in the front. Esme's eyes stopped on Diego and she let out a relief laugh before she basically ran towards him, wrapping her arms around him. Diego holding her back tightly, afraid if he let go, he would never see her again.

"I missed you." Esme whispered, her eyes filling with tears, as her hands gripped the back of his shirt slightly.

"I th-th-ought I would ne-ne-"

"Shhh. I'm here."  Esme heard him start to stutter and knew he was filled with overwhelming emotions, and wanted him to calm down.

"Hey, hey. Share her Diego." Klaus walked up to the two, holding his arms out with a smile.

"Look at you Klaus." Esme pulled away from Diego and laughed slightly through her teary eyes.

"I know. I look great." He nodded and wrapped his arms around his sister once she gave him a hug.

"Yes you do."

"Sorry to cut this little reunion and all short. But we need to get going on this." Five told them.

"He's right." Esme nodded, pulling away from Klaus.

"Right after I do this."

"Esme. I don't want-"

Five didn't have time to finish, because she already pulled him into her chest, hugging him tightly. He stiffed and groaned a bit from the physical affection, but it was Esme after all. He saw it coming.

"Ok. But, who are you?" Luther pointed to Thomas, the man just standing near the door still.

"That's Thomas." Esme answered once she let Five go.

"He helped me with many things, and we are also together." Esme said the last part slowly.

"Hi." Thomas gave them a small wave.

Allison was happy that her sister found someone.

Vanya just nodded, mostly happy that she had two sisters.

Luther looked a bit confused.

Five didn't really care.

Klaus clapped his hands happily with a big grin.

Ben gave his sister a warm smile.

Diego just wanted to kill Thomas.

Yup, welcome to this crazy family Thomas. Hope you have a fun time here.

"Ok. Let's get on with this. Follow me." Five made his way up the stairs, the rest following. Diego was next to Luther, glaring at the back of Thomas' head.

"I don't like him." Diego told Luther.

"He literally just said hi." Luther looked at him confused.

"I just don't like him." Diego shook his head slightly.

Once they were all together, Five told them how they brought the apocalypse back and how they needed to stop it once again.

"Why am I always the last one to find out about the end of the-Oh, my god. My cult is gonna be so pissed. Five! I told them we had until 2019." Klaus whined a bit, holding a bottle in one hand and a cup in another.

"Wait. You have a cult?" Esme gave her brother a look, sitting beside Thomas on the couch.

"Charles Manson is a cult leader and by the way. Guess there goes our plans with 1969." She sighed, leaning back into the couch.

"As I was saying, we have until Monday. We have six days." Five told them.

"Is it Vanya?" Klaus put his cup to his lips.

"Klaus!" Allison said from besides Vanya.

"What? It's usually Vanya." He shrugged.

"Do you have any leads, Five?" Vanya ignored the siblings as Diego passed a document to Five.

"Yeah, we have one." He opened it up and handed it to Allison.

"Holy shit. Is that dad?"

"Dad?!" Esme's eyes widened and got up, looking into the folder.

"Yeah and that's him standing on the grassy knoll." Diego nodded.

"Diego and I have been trying to talk to dad about exactly what this means. So far nothing." Five let out a sigh, sticking his hands in his pockets.

"Not nothing. We know he's planning on killing Kennedy." Diego corrected.

Esme and Thomas both had their mouths gaped open of what they were hearing. Esme couldn't believe their dad would be part of this and Thomas was just...

"This is a crazy family....I like it." Thomas said out loud.

"Why thank you." Klaus smiled to him.

"Maybe. But we don't know who or what sends doomsday in motion. Could be Kennedy, could be something entirely independent." Five continued to talk.

Esme blinked a few times as she heard Diego, Five, and Allison all start to talk. It just went from dad to Kennedy, doomsday, all of this in such a small amount of time was overwhelming her so she zoned out for a minute before Vanya's voice caught her attention.

"None of us are supposed to be here, right? I mean, what if it's us? Has anyone here done anything to screw up the timeline?" Vanya questioned and it was completely silent.

"Diego has been stalking Lee Harvey Oswald."

"And you're working for Jack Ruby!" Diego fired back to Luther.

"Allison has been very involved in local politics." Klaus casually pointed out.

"Ok. You started a cult." Allison have him a look.

"Thank you." Ben said from the other side of the room while Klaus hissed slightly to him, pretending to claw him.

"I'm just a nanny on a farm, I don't have anything to do with all this." Vanya defended herself before anyone could say anything.

Some eyes fell to Thomas and he stiffened a bit, before leaning to Esme.  "They're looking at me and it's starting to creep me out."  He whispered.

"Guys. Come on."  Esme stood up.

"All we've done so far is just what happened on August 9th, 1969.  We haven't done anything yet, just research, and leave my boyfriend alone."  She gave a small nod, not liking how they assumed Thomas could be part of it.

"Sharon Tate."  Ben stated from his spot, remembering how Esme loved her and would catch her watching a film in her free time.

"Yeah.  Her."  Thomas spoke, making Ben snap his eyes to him, did he just acknowledge the ghost in the room?

Diego whistled, making everyone stop and look up at him as he stood in his same spot before speaking.

"Listen to yourselves.  Everything in our new lives is connected to Kennedy.  That can't be a coincidence.  Luther works for Ruby, Allison is protesting the government, dad is on the grassy knoll, Klaus is...doing something weird and pervy but probably related."

Ben nodded, agreeing with his words, mostly the one about Klaus before Diego continued.

"We were all sent back here for one special reason:  saving John Fitzgerald Kennedy."  Diego finished and everyone started talking all at once yet again.

"Guys you all die!  I was there, I saw it."  Five broke the chaos.  "I want to forget it, but I can't.  I saw Russian nukes vaporize the world with all of you in it.  I don't know the reason for everything but dad will and we need to talk to him before everything and everyone we know is dead."  Five told them all seriously.

"Okay. I'm out."  Luther stood up.

"Luther.  Did you even hear him?"  Esme gave him a look.

"Yeah. Yeah. I did."  His eyes moved from Esme to Five as he stood in front of him.

"I heard a 58-year-old man who still wants his daddy to come and fix everything.  You can count me out.  It's about time we all grow the hell up."  He made his way down the stairs, despite the protesting, Five quickly flashing down to him.

"I'm starting to think family reunions really aren't our thing."  Esme told the rest of the siblings.

"Agreed."  Diego mumbled.

**Yay! They're finally reunited! I've been waiting for this chapter. I really don't have anything to say or questions to answer. So on with the memes**
