Chp 3

The screen lightens to show a shipyard loading dock with several haulers picking up their payloads. The camera pans out from the underside of a shipping crate with "ROGERS" painted on the sides as it is attached to a trailer. The contents inside the container are shown to be filled with top-of-the-line electronics from Japan.

The original Toretto crew looked at each other knowing what was going to happen next.

The crate doors are shut and locked. A man is shown walking away from the crate while talking on his phone, "New payload. Has ROGERS on the side. Remember my cut."

Caroline, a Sheriff's daughter, figured out, "That truck's being targetted." Several heads turn her way causing her to shrink back into her seat.

The truck was passing through a quieter part of the highway outside Los Angeles when three black Honda Civics with green lights shining from the undercarriage surround the truck. The truck driver watches in disbelief as the sunroof of the Civic in front of the rig opens up and a guy wearing a motorcycle helmet sits on the car's roof.

The guy shoulders a speargun aimed at the windshield of the truck. The first round is fired and pulls the passenger side of the windshield off. A second spear gun is aimed at the passenger seat inside the cab. The guy clips the cable attached to the spear to a cable reel harness on his chest.

Some of the audience gasped as the guy pulled himself out of the sunroof and onto the top of the car preparing to jump onto the truck. The guy jumps onto the hood of the truck and climbs into the cab.

Elena couldn't help but voice her opinion, "You guys are crazy. This is insane."

Most of the Mystic Falls' crew roll their eyes. Damon and Jeremy both tell her to, "Shut up."

The two men in the cab fight. The trucker grabbed a wooden club and whacked the thief a few times. The guy punches the trucker a couple of times until he is knocked out. All the while, the truck has been swerving over the two-lane highway. Finally, the guy gets the truck under control and takes over driving.

All three Civics stay in position until they pass through a road work crew. One of the Civics swerved and stayed under the trailer, narrowly missing the back axle. Once they were clear o the road work, the Civic maneuvered out from under the truck, driving alongside it to exit the highway.

Letty leans over to Dom, "Man, she could drive."

Dom has a look of pride on his face, "Yeah, she sure could."

Everyone heard Katherine whispering, "God damn. Panty-dropping voice." The ladies of Mystic Falls were seen nodding in agreement. The men rolled their eyes.

The scene cuts to Brian test-driving his 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse after making more modifications to the engine in hindsight of his first street race. He accelerates to a high speed of 140mph but fails to keep the car from spinning out of control. Brian sits for a moment in his car before deciding to still participate in the street race.

Several audience members chuckle watching Brian struggle with his car. Especially those who knew what happened during the race.

The next scene shows a girl's hands gathering her car keys, cell phone, and wallet from a tall dresser with framed pictures of her and her friends and a couple of her with her mother. The camera zooms onto a picture of a young girl and her mother hugging.

Stefan noticed his brother stare at the screen with wide eyes, "Damon?" Stefan's concerned tone caught everyone's attention.

Dom leaned forward in his seat and looked at the vampire before saying, "Jesse? Pause it." The movie pauses on the young girl exiting the house to get in her car.

"You knew Nora?" Dom asked Damon.

Damon swallowed and squeezed his eyes shut to push back the heavy emotions. He opens his eyes and turns to Dom, "She's my wife." Everyone who knows Damon was shocked except Caroline, he had told her during a drunken rant when he first came to Mystic Falls. Damon gives the cliff notes version of their story, "She...um...caught me feeding behind a bar in Detroit. Instead of running away screaming, she actually teased me about it. Saying I should be careful since I don't know where that guy has been. I tried to compel her to forget but she gave me a migraine instead." Damon continues to speak with a faraway look in his eyes as he remembers the love of his life.

"We were friends then we dated for a little over a year and then we got married. We were together for four years before she... I had left to go raid a blood bank and when I got home, the place was ransacked and her blood was everywhere. I didn't want to believe she was dead so I searched for her. For two years, I searched for her with absolutely no sign of her. When I stopped searching, I flipped my switch."

Damon was interrupted by Vince, "Flipped your switch?" Everyone was focused on Damon with looks of pity and sadness. He was kind of grateful for the subject change.

"Vampires have this ability to essentially shut off their humanity. Like a switch in the back of their minds. No humanity, no sadness, no guilt, no remorse," Han answered Vince. When they were silent for a long time the movie started up again.

The young girl was revealed to be Amelia Shaw. She parks her 1995 Nissan 240SX. Amelia and Letty had gotten the same car as best friends do, each personalizing them to fit their personalities. Letty's 240SX was painted "House of Kolor Purple" with graphics of her own design. Amelia had painted hers "House of Kolor Apple Red" with a Kandy finish.

Amelia arrived inside Toretto's Market and Cafe to work alongside Mia tending to customers. Mia was wiping down the bar top when Brian came into the shop for lunch as he did almost every day. Amelia began stocking sodas in the fridge at the front of the shop while watching the two interact. She knew Brian had a crush on Mia, it's why he came there for lunch even though the tuna was crap.

As Brian's food is being prepared, the camera shows Dom in the back of the shop looking over the books. As Brian eats his lunch and Amelia finishes stocking the fridge, a team of import street racers arrives at the shop, all friends of Amelia, Mia, and Dom's - the shop's proprietors. Letty walks to the back of the shop to ask Dom if he needed anything. Without turning around or saying anything, Dom shows Letty that he doesn't need anything at the moment.

Vince is aggravated that Brian is still coming around the store and instigates a fight with Brian. Both Mia and Amelia called for Dom to break up. Dominic warns Brian not to come around the store again and reprimands Vince for starting the fight. Leon moves next to Amelia to say hello but is pulled away from her by Dom.

Brian returns to his job at a local performance parts store, The Racer's Edge, where he also rents a room in the back. He tells his boss that he needs a Nitrous system for his Eclipse and that he'll need it installed by that night.

The racers in the audience shake their heads at Brian. They had teased him relentlessly about his first race. Dom looks at Brian, "Almost." Letty, Leon, Vince, and Dom laugh at the inside joke, leaving everyone else confused.

After sunset, a large group of street racers begins to form in a back alley with Brian eventually arriving. One of the legends, Hector, takes notice of Brian's car and approaches him, followed by Edwin. They were standing around talking about Brian's car when Dom and his crew showed up.

Dominic and his team arrive and the festivities are set to begin. Letty chases off a couple of girls trying to flirt with Dom, "I smell (she imitates sniffing the air) Skanks. Why don't you just pack it up before I leave tread marks on your face." "Letty, I was just talking..." Dom is cut off by Letty, "Yeah, whatever."

"Aww, I was hoping for a catfight," Katherine and Elena chorused. Everyone shut them up with looks of disapproval.

Dominic organizes a single race for the evening with a $2,000 buy-in to participate. Brian expresses that he does not have the cash to buy into the race but that he'll offer the pink slip to his Eclipse.

Han voiced what the racers were thinking, "You never race for pinks if there's a possibility you'll lose."

After Jesse inspects Brian's car, the other participants agree to Brian taking part in the race, and the alley empties as everyone leaves for the road.

Everyone arrives at a four-lane road where Dominic, Brian, Edwin, and a fourth racer line up side-by-side for a quarter-mile winner-take-all event. A couple of people are seen running back and forth across the street spray painting the starting line which is also the finish line.

Jeremy couldn't help but admire the event, "Man, you guys set up quick." He leans over to Matt and whispers, "Imagine if we did something like this back home? Liz would be on our asses before we grab the spray paint." Matt nods his head.

Leon, one of Dominic's entourage, monitors the police scanner for any signs that their illegal activity has drawn the LAPD's attention. With the coast clear, Hector initiates the race. Brian begins with a rough start but eventually catches up with the pack.

Roman snickers at his long-time friend, "Still the same, always starting slow."

Halfway through the race, he engages his nitrous system and passes everyone except Dominic. Near the end of the race, he engages the nitrous again, causing the floorboard to fall out but he manages to pass Dominic.

"Straight up Flintstone that shit," Roman teased Brian.

Seeing Brian's Eclipse surpass him, Dominic engages his own hidden nitrous system on his Mazda RX-7 and soundly beats Brian as the race nears the finish line. The race then is finished and Dominic is acknowledged as the winner.

Brian gets out of his car with a smile. Jesse asks, "Was that fun?" Brian looks to Dominic, "Dude, I almost had you." The crowd laughs.

Dom mocks Brian in front of everyone for his amateur racing style, "You had me. You didn't even have your car. He thinks he had me." Leon then intercepts a dispatch for the LAPD to go after the street racers. Leon then informs Hector and the group disperses.

Letty throws her head back and laughs before yelling, "Scramble!" Brian and Roman look at each other, "Not as big as Miami."

Dominic, his team, and Brian manage to get away in time. Dominic stashed his RX-7 with Amelia stashing her 240SX in a nearby parking garage and attempting to escape the rest of the way on foot. However, an LAPD patrol unit recognizes Dominic and Amelia and commands them to stop, "Toretto. Shaw. Stay right where you are."

Owen says something for the first time, "How much trouble has she been in to be recognized that easily?" The Toretto doesn't answer right away but Brian says, "You'll see."

Dominic and Amelia run down an alley with the officer closing in until Brian intercepts them and orders them to get into his car after which he outruns the officer and gets away. Dom compliments Brian on his evasive driving, "You drive like you have done this before. Ever been a wheel-man?"

Brian tries to keep a straight face, "Nah man."

Dom picks at him some more, "What about boosting cars?"

Still keeping his cool but feeling the strain from lying, "Nope."

"Ever done time?" Dom can tell Brian is lying.

"No, never," Brian seems to know he has been caught but tries to keep lying.

Dom smiles since he knows he caught Brian, "What about those two years in Juvie for boosting cars?" Brian gives Dom a look knowing he's been caught. "Yeah. I had Jesse run a profile. Brian Earl Spilner. You did a two-year stretch in Tuscon for Grand Theft."

Brian was silent for a moment before asking, "What about you?"

Dom gains a serious expression, "Two years in Lompoc. I'll die before I go back."

Brian looks to the back seat where Amelia is sitting, "And you?"

"18 months in Juvie for Arson," Amelia pulled her hoodie up and sank further into the seat not wanting to talk about the incident.

Stefan asked, "What happened?"

"She set fire to a guy's car that was harassing her. He didn't want to take 'No' for an answer," Mia told them. She remembers Amelia coming to her house after it happened in shock then spending the rest of the night crying.

Soon after, a group of bikers comes and the leader, Johnny Tran, commands Brian, Amelia, and Dominic to follow them. Amelia could see the bikers are armed with machine guns. She whispers, "Dom." He slightly nods his head, "Yeah, I know. Just keep your hood up." Amelia sinks even further into her seat in hopes of not being seen.

Queenie is worried about her granddaughter, "I don't like this." Owen and Deckard heard their mother and agrees. Deckard hugs his mother, "If she's anything like Nora, she will be alright." Damon smiles when he heard that since he knows how vindictive and stubborn Nora could be.

They then inadvertently end up in Little Saigon which is Tran's territory and are escorted to an abandoned parking lot. After they arrive at the lot, Brian and Dominic are confronted by Tran and his cousin Lance Nguyen.

Tran looks into the backseat and sees Amelia, "Come on out sweetheart." Amelia climbs out of the car while Tran inquires why Dominic had disregarded their truce to stay off each other's turf. Dominic and Brian keep glancing at Lance as he moves closer to Amelia.

Dominic attributed the mishap to Brian, his "new mechanic," getting lost. Brian could see how uncomfortable Amelia is standing near Lance. He moves to stand closer to her to shield Amelia from Lance, "You okay?" Amelia kept her head down but nodded.

After Tran and Lance admire Brian's car, their gang departs. Dom opens the door for Amelia to climb back in when Tran and Lance immediately return and open fire with submachine guns, igniting the car before leaving again.

The flames reach the nitrous tanks. Dom calls out, "NOS!" The three of them move away from the car as the flames burn a bluish-green color before the car blows up.

Brian comments, "At least Amelia didn't start it that time." Mia rolled her eyes. Dom smacks Brian on the back of the head. Brian just laughs it off. None of the Toretto Crew see the Mikaelsons' interest in Amelia.

Brian, Amelia, and Dominic subsequently depart on foot. "So what was that all about?" Brian asked. Dom puts his brown leather jacket on, "A deal went bad. Plus I made the mistake of sleeping with his sister." Amelia was on Brian's other side, he looks at her and asks the same question, "I set Lance's car on fire."

AN: Damon did not use Caroline or any other girl in this story. They have a love/hate frenemiship. The Mystic Falls gang does not like and/or barely tolerates Katherine and Elena. The Mikaelsons and Salvatores are getting along because of their dislike for the doppelgangers.
