"Jungkook?"
"Lisa? Hey." He waved his hand at her as Lisa walked over and joined him.
"Long time no see, how are you?" She asked as she took a seat beside him.
"The stars are so beautiful, isn't so?" He was staring up, perhaps counting the number of stars in the night sky.
It was Jeon Jungkook, Lisa's best friend. The boy had moved in few years back to this small town and as his mother worked in the same workplace as Lisa's mother, they used to see each other very often which formed the base of their friendship.
Although Lisa wasn't one of those persons who are vocal about their feelings, she did find the guy very cute with breathtaking features; although she had dismissed them long back thinking of it as a small crush.
But feelings don't fade away easily, do they?
"I thought you were already off to the countryside? I mean before my accident- didn't you say you were going back to live with your grandparents for a while?" Lisa asked with a questionable pout.
He smiled. "Eomma and I, we were about to leave, but there were some things undue here so we stayed. So don't worry, I won't be going anywhere anytime soon."
"Why didn't you come see me then? I'm upset." She pretended being angry like a small kid. "I did, a couple number of times but I was afraid, you might not notice me around."
Although Lisa was bewildered by his answer, so she decided to ignore it.
"This place is so boring, I thought I was gonna have some adventure but I got so tired easily." Lisa sighed, disappointed in herself ㅡ making Jungkook look at her.
"You aren't fully recovered yet, you should be resting now." He said, worrisome.
"Don't start off like eomma now, Jungkook. She keeps repeating the same things over and over and I feel like an old granny bedridden for the whole day."
"Come on Lisa, you're not a little girl anymore, you're already 24 now. Though you do seem like a granny when you wear those bookish glasses though." He snickered.
"Yah! You disappoint me sometimes Mr Bunny." She grumbled.
"You want to walk around the garden for sometime?" He offered as Lisa enthusiastically hoped off, dusting some dust from her palms.
The two explored the place for a while, reminiscing about the golden memories they had woven together, in the six years of knowing each other.
Taking a trip down the memory lane, the remembered how they first met.
Ever since Lisa had lost her father, an army general at a very young age, she felt a void form in her life. Her mother was finding it difficult to adhere to the sudden demise, because of which they had shifted to this small town on the way to the countryside.
Whilst her mother would mostly work overtime, Lisa grew up with books and usually spent most of the day at the town library after school. To her, books were like an escape from reality. As an avid reader and a bibliophile as Lisa would describe herself, she would immerse herself into reading a book, create a world of imagination from its ideas and try to theorize the hidden symbolisms the author gave in between those lines. Her friendly and bubbly nature easily helped her in becoming close acquaintances with the librarians around, helping them arrange and sort books. And during the off hours, she would sit down drafting ideas in hopes of becoming a writer one day.
That day too, was a normal autumn afternoon. Lisa as usual was in the library, noting down some ideas when she noticed silhouette of a guy standing outside the library through the tainted glass. The moment she turned around, her eyes followed the boy's footsteps, walking in towards the door and entering in, carrying a backpack and some textbooks along. He sheepishly took a seat a few steps away from her, perfecting a sketch he made in a sketchbook. Lisa could judge by his actions that he was introverted, so she decided to introduce herself in an attempt to start a conversation.
The boy, particularly the depth in his eyes ㅡ intrigued her. Although Lisa never considered one of the people to strike conversations, she was interested in knowing about him more.
"Hey." She called out, taking a seat opposite to him. He turned to look at her, his eyes widened at the instant and a small red tint appeared on his face; he was obviously flustered. "H-hi." He said hiding his nervousness, before adjusting his tone ㅡ Lisa found these actions very cute.
"I have never seen you around town, are you perhaps new here?" She questioned. "Yes." He nodded in affirmation before his eyes landed back to his book, but Lisa stopped him midway as the blonde haired extended her right hand towards him.
"I'm Lisa, and you are..."
"Jungkook."
And what followed next, was a maze of nostalgic memories she would surely cherish forever.
"You know Guk, sometimes I still laugh when I suddenly remember your flustered face from that day, you were so adorable UwU." Lisa exclaimed in a shrill tone.
"I still get embarrassed about it though." He smiled shyly, his teeth giving him a bunny-like resemblance.
"And the time when we played Rapunzel and Eugene for that highschool drama...we literally got shipped together and rumours went on for two months!"
"I can never forget that, indeed. Time passes by so fast, don't you think?" He questioned out of the blue, she looked at him puzzled.
"True." She said meekly, before coming to a halt.
"I think you should go back now. If you want, I'll see you again tomorrow." Jungkook suggested.
"But the hospital is far off from your place, Guk. Will you manage getting here?" Lisa asked worriedly, though Jungkook looked relaxed.
"Its not a problem as long as I see you."
"We can facetime, I don't want you to come this far for me."
"Don't worry about me Lali, I prefer meeting you like this, in front of me. Facetime is just boring..." he answered with a frown.
"You will always be a hard nut to crack, you've always been. So when will I see you next, Guk?"
"Zero O' Clock, every night."
"The midnight? But what's so special about it?"
"Just because....you don't have to know Lisa." Jungkook replied, before he smiled and walked away, leaving Lisa in pools of confusion as his silhouette gradually faded away in the night sky.
"I can never understand you, Jungkook." Lisa pondered.
