❝ㅡ and you gonna be happy.❞

Hello Readers!

I hope you've enjoyed reading this book, this chapter is basically an explanation of certain events and symbols depicted in the story, with mentions of inspirations and philosophies behind the plot.

+EXPLANATION+

The storyline is spread across two parallel universes: one is the real world and the other is an imaginary one that Lisa sketches out from her imagination.

The first nine chapters in the book are actually a narration from the book that Lisa wrote, as an ode to her now-missing husband. There are many ways this can be hintedㅡ the character of Lisa in the book lost her father, an army general and finds solace in books, makes a new bestfriend with whom she soon falls in love with, but the love story ends in tragedy after a horrifying accident. Completely oblivious to the fact that her love is now dead and is a 'ghost', she meets him every night at Zero O' Clock cause that's the time he had passed away. She goes through a phase of nostalgia and soon starts to recollect some memories back until finally the truth is laid before her.

You might ask, why is Lisa's character so naive in the story, since she is the one who doesn't recognize Jungkook is dead whilst the others hesitate to reveal it? The reason being simple, the real Lalisa who authored the book wrote it for her daughter, a young teen who is very attached to her father and he suddenly has 'left' her. Even in the book itself, for a patient who has been coma for a subjective amount of time, life is very difficult post-recovery. Their mindset exists in the period before their momentary unconsciousness, therefore, their physical and mental stature takes time to adjust with the current situation and the reality.

{This part of the scenario was taken from a k-drama called 'Thirty but Seventeen'.}

Moving forth to Jungkook. In the story, Jungkook isn't exactly a ghost. He's just a wandering soul, who is slowly losing his mortal abilities and turning into a spirit. The reason why Lisa was able to touch him in the beginning was because he was still human-like. But the reason Jungkook was still around Lisa is because it was his last wish; to protect Lisa. He was only visible to Lisa, and only during 00:00. The other times he was invisible to everyone (that explains the library scene in one of the chapters). Now that he can't protect her physically, he was here to make a promise to her that she wouldn't blame herself for his tragic death.

So when Lisa kissed him, his promise was complete and therefore, he disappeared in a flash. If he continued to stay with Lisa, there was a chance he could've become a ghost, a haunting one. So, after the promise, he could proceed into the afterlife.

In Asian cultures, it is believed that after a person dies, their soul leaves their bodies and wanders around for a while. Majorly they use this time to finish off the task that they really wish to fulfill, before proceeding to the afterlife.

{This concept was briefly mentioned in Hotel Del Luna, from where it was adapted.}

Coming to real life Jungkook. In the last scene, we see that Jungkook returns back to Lalisa and their daughter. Where was he all this while? You may know from the hints that he served in the military. It so happens that when two countries are at war, some soldiers are killed in action, whilst some get deported and are erstwhile considered dead (if their bodies aren't found). Jungkook seemed to have followed the same fate.

Baekhyun who now believed that Jungkook wasn't going to return after two whole years, he suggests Lisa move on. He symbolizes the act of change and moving on in the entire story. Lisa was slowly starting to cope up with a life as a single mother, but no matter how hard she tried, she still kept coming back to Jungkook through their maze of memories that were entitled in a book. Which was the reason why she was still hesitant to move on in the first place.

Finally, after the reunion, there's one final line, that forms the base of the entire story and summarizes the final message in itself.

"Life Goes On."

+SPECIAL THANKS+

I have tried to take up the most probable doubts that might arise in your mind, after revising my drafts, checking my DMs and reading your comments. Some of these questions were literally in my DMs by people who weren't able to connect with the events in the storyline. So this was my best attempt :)

I wouldn't lie; this book is one of my personal favorites and I really enjoyed while writing it (Even I cried writing some scenes at times).

finally since this book has come to an end, I'd love to know your opinions on the story, whether it made you smile, it made you cry or it was just another boring philosophical session that made the book extremely boring.

Also if you want me to write more stories like these, I will happily love to listen to your plot suggestions and try out something new uwu.

Thank you for reading!
