Chapter 1: Mondstat

How long was I away from them? How long had I been drifting in the sky as if it was water, or was this just the abyss in my mind? Is that why it's so dark at all times?

I didn't know, but for the first time in what seemed like years I opened my eyes. My wings were out and by my sides acting as walls around me as I was curled up in the sky. They looked different, my wings weren't gray like they used to be instead they were black with a gold edge at the bone.

I realized I was seeing wind lines coming from around my wings. Am, am I falling out of the sky again? I turned my body around midair and saw the ground approaching fast, opening my wings to catch wind. Just as I did that my fingers skimmed the grass.

"Fuck." I chuckled, flapping my wings to gain air. It felt so nice to fly once again, the wind whipping my hair the cool breeze of it all just felt so nice. But I felt like I was forgetting something...

"Aether! Lumine!" I shouted as I came to a halt and hovered. Where are they? Are they even in this world? Are they even alive? So many questions ran through my mind.

That bitch, she was gonna pay for what she did to them. But who was that Goddess, something told me I'd find her if I stayed in this world. If I wanted to fight her I was gonna have to get stronger, while doing that I hoped to find Lumine or Aether. Flapping my wings harder I began looking for enemies.

An hour later I saw someone being attacked by furry headed, humanoid creatures, they had horns, a mask and a club. I dropped down, my wings hidden as I stood protectively in front of the person who was being attacked, my sword pointed at them. They growled and squawked among themselves then ran at me.

I kicked one away, and thrusted my sword into the chest of another. Pulling the sword out they didn't seem to care that I just killed one of their comrades, and came at me again and again. These things are either stupid or fearless, it didn't matter though they were all dead now. Wiping the blood off my sword I put it away, holding a hand out to the person who thanked me profusely.

Someone jumped over the hill shouting, "Not to worry! Outrider Amb~"

They quickly cut themselves off seeing me helping the person up and the enemies dead. "You already killed them? Where'd you come from?"

I didn't answer burnett's questions helping the person fix their stuff. Once done I offered to escort them to where they needed to go. The burnett seemed upset that I was ignoring her, in truth I had forgotten her while I was helping.

"Wait, you didn't answer my questions."

"Huh? Oh sorry I forgot you were here, sorry. Um, what were your questions?" I turned to her and asked politely after apologizing.

"Where did you come from?"

I smiled, I remember Lumine asked this question when we first met, I pointed to the sky. She had given me a questioning look. "You fell out of the sky?"

"Well yes and no. But that doesn't matter, we can talk on the way, I'm sure they need to get somewhere." I pointed back behind me to the person I saved. I didn't wait for the burnett though and just walked with them.

She ran up behind me and held a hand to shake. "I'm Amber, Outrider of the Knights of Favonius."

I shook her hand. "Eclipse, can't say I've ever heard of you lot." It was blunt but I didn't care at the moment as I was too busy looking for enemies. "So what were those guys?"

She gave a crazed look at me. "Where have you been all this time?"

It was a rhetorical question but I answered anyway, "clearly not here."

Amber ignored my response, beginning to explain what they were. "Those were hillitrols, they've been getting more bold lately and getting closer to the city and attacking caravans."

"Do you need some help taking some of their camps down?"

Amber put her hand on her hips and puffed her chest out proudly. "It's appreciated but the Knights of Favonius have it handled."

I'd given her a look of disbelief, spotting more hillitrols headed our way. I halted, and before either of them asked what I was doing I ran for the enemies. Amber saw what I was going for and pulled her bow out, shooting the arm of one of them. But by the time she had done that I had killed three of them. Throwing my sword into the head of one, warping to it, then slicing another's head off, thrusting my sword into the chest of the next one. By the time I was about to strike the fourth one another arrow loosed itself in the head of it. I looked back seeing Amber was the one who shot it. I sheathed my blade giving a thumbs up walking back.

"I've never seen someone so skilled without using their vision, well besides the grandmaster and jean. What's your vision?" Amber asked with big eyes.

"Vision? Last one I touched shattered at my fingertips. Not like I need one anyway, I have power of my own, I'm just not very good with them." I gave another blunt but truthful answer. The rest of the way was peaceful, I had yet to know which region I was in or what city we were heading to till I saw the windmills.

"With your strength you should join the knights or the adventurers guild."

I hummed as I waved goodbye to the person we escorted. "I'll think about it, but for now I'm going back out to adventure more and look for someone." I pointed back behind me across the bridge that led into the city.

"Wha~ you're just gonna leave as soon as you get here? At least check out the city first!" Amber cried.

"Sorry, but like I said I have things to do."

Amber said her goodbyes as I did too, backing away to leave. On my way out someone standing behind a counter waved me down. I looked around not understanding at first, before walking over. "Welcome to the adventures guild, I've been watching you for a long time."

I'd given the woman a weird look, I'd just gotten here, how did she know of me? I allowed her to continue, "Being on the lookout for great adventures is part of my job. When I look at you I see great potential to rival the great adventure legends."

I stopped her right there, holding my hand up. "Not interested.''Walking away I had an odd nostalgic feeling, why do I get the feeling stuff like this happened all the time in my world. Where people tried to always sell you stuff or have you join something. Ah, it doesn't matter, once I crossed the bridge I began my search for Aether and Lumine all while getting stronger while I was at it.
