Chapter 2: Awakened From The 100 Year Slumber
READER'S POV
Darkness...that's all I can see right now...I often wondered how long I had been in a coma for...it feels like forever since I saw the light...my friends and Hyrule itself...I still remembered that day like it was yesterday...Calamity Ganon's return...Hyrule Castle and its civilians being slaughtered...my Divine Beast, Vah Sari, falling into his control...and...Keegan's betrayal...I still can't believe betrayed me and the tribe...how did it come to this...?
I have always asked myself those questions since I've been in a coma. I didn't understand why I haven't woken up yet but, the memories of my friends still keep me happy. I still remember the day I met Zelda and the King after they discovered our ancient technology.
Flashback...
Impa, Keegan and I made our way into the throne room and we saw the King and Princess Zelda. We knelt before them and then the announcer spoke up.
"Your Majesties, allow me to introduce the leader of the Sheikah tribe, (F/n) (L/n), her mentor, Impa and her second in command Keegan."
"It is an honour to meet you, my King, Princess Zelda."
I spoke with a smile on my face and then the King spoke up.
"Please you three don't need to bow to us, come stand up."
We stood up from the ground and then I said to them.
"I heard your men have found some of our ancient technology, regarding the prophecy."
"Yes, that is true. I have become very fascinated with these guardians and the Divine beasts. We also found this at a dig site."
Zelda showed us a rectangular slate and I recognized it immediately. I took the slate from her hand I told her.
"Hm...the Sheikah Slate, very interesting and well done for finding this."
"Thank you, what can you tell us about this object?"
"Well, the slate contains four runes, a map and it also keeps pictures of the objects or landscapes that you take from the camera rune."
"Camera rune? pictures?" Zelda asked with a twinkle in her eyes which I couldn't help but giggle at.
"You really are interested in our ancient technologies aren't you?"
"Well, if we want to defeat Calamity Ganon we have to do whatever it takes and you Sheikahs are the only ones who can help us."
"Princess Zelda I will be more than happy to-"
"Pardon the interruption, my lady," Keegan spoke up. "And pardon for being rude, but, is it necessary to share our knowledge about the ancient technologies that our ancestors created?"
"Keegan! shut up!" I shouted at him. "Look, I can clearly tell that you don't like the idea about us sharing the information about the guardians and the Divine Beasts with the royal family but, you know about the prophecy just as much as I do."
"I know, I know, but, what if we used them to our advantage and besides, you were searching for the Sheikah Slate and you said it was the key to activating the Beasts and the shrines that are scattered throughout Hyrule."
"I was but, after Impa told me about the prophecy, the information can be useful for Princess Zelda. Especially since we need five people to control the Divine Beasts, I don't suppose you know the right people for the job?"
Keegan was about to tell me but, he closed his mouth afterwards.
"That's what I thought."
Zelda and Impa snickered when I said this.
"I apologise for Keegan's outburst, he's not comfortable being in a new place."
"That's understandable, anyway, the reason why we asked you to come here is that your people know more about the beasts and the other machines that we've found. We are also gathering five champions and a knight to be my side when we defeat Ganon. We've already found someone to be the knight and we've found a fox divine beast in Faron Woods. I heard that your skills are exceptional and you were taught by the best and that's why we chose you to become one of them."
My eyes widen in surprise and then I smiled at him.
"All right, Princess. I will gladly become a champion and my people and I will feel honoured to serve you and share our knowledge about the Ancient technology," I said as I bowed politely to her.
Flashback ends...
It has always been that way for me since I fell into a coma. I've been seeing memories of my past before this mess happened. Every time I see one of them, I always get back to the darkness. Sometimes I wonder if I'll see the light again. Wait, light?!
I spotted a faint glow in front of me after seeing the memory of that time when I met Zelda. I was surprised by this and then I heard a faint but a familiar voice.
".........(Y/n).....(Y/n)....wake up...(Y/n) wake up...."
'Wait, that voice...is that Zelda?!'
I smiled when I heard that voice and then I heard her voice again.
"(Y/n)...please...you need to wake up...Link and I have been waiting for you..."
"Oh, Zelda...you have no idea how happy I am to hear your voice! it's been so long!"
"I know it's been a long time, (Y/n)....but...this is no time to talk...you need to wake up..."
As soon as she said that, the light got brighter and brighter and then I had to shut my eyes. I slowly opened my eyes and my hearing was muffled because I'm underwater. The water slowly drained and once the water was gone, I gasped a little and then I slowly sat up. I shook my head and I moved my wet hair out of the way. I was confused at first but then, I remembered why I was here. I looked down and there was a scar where Keegan stabbed me.
'That's right...I told Master Impa to bring me here so I can heal and recover from my injuries. Heh, I guess I got lucky and Keegan is gonna get a shock when he sees me.'
I thought to myself before smirking. I climbed out of the tub and then I searched for my clothes. When I found them, they were old, worn and I can still see the old bloodstain where I got stabbed.
"Huh...I don't remember my clothes looking like this, they look old...how long was I in a coma?"
I asked myself as I looked around and I knew something felt different. I searched through the chests to see if there was anything else that I could and only managed to find an old shirt that didn't cover my stomach and the sleeves reached my elbows. I also found a pair of trousers that reached knee length and I also found some sandals. I looked for the rest of my stuff and there were nowhere to be found. I sighed a little and then I left the Shrine of Healing. Once I stepped outside, I was shocked and surprised when I saw the landscape before me.
I was near Kakariko village and it looked so different the last time I was here. I walked towards the ledge and I couldn't believe how much the village had changed. Just then, someone spoke up.
"(Y/n)? is that you?"
I turned to look and there was an old lady who was wearing a hat with iron accessories on the edges and I was surprised when she called my name.
"You know my name?"
"Of course, I am the one who placed you here."
"You...you did? I'm sorry, I don't recognise you, who are you?"
"I am older now but, I was once your mentor and friend, it is I, Impa."
"What?!!" I shouted in a shocked tone.
I leaned closer to her and when I did, her face looked very familiar and then I spoke up.
"No way...it really is you! Master Impa!" I was so happy when I saw her but, a part of me wondered what happened to her.
"Wait, what happened to you? why do you look so old? how long was I in a coma and where are Zelda, Link and the other champions? are they okay?"
Impa looked sad for some reason and then she told me.
"My dear student...I'm afraid not. You see, the champions, Revali, Mipha, Deruk and Urbosa...have all been defeated by Calamity Ganon."
"What...?"
My eyes widen in shock and Impa continued.
"And that's not all...Link, he was gravely hurt and he was placed into the Shrine of Ressurection...and as for Zelda...she went back to Hyrule Castle to face Calamity Ganon by herself..."
"No way! I gotta get over there!"
"Wait!"
Impa stopped me and then she said to me.
"There something I need to show you."
I followed Impa to the viewpoint that's near the village and when I saw the landscape, I was shocked. Everything that I once knew, was in ruin. I could see the places where they used to be lively and popular and they have been destroyed or fallen into ruin.
"My Goddess...look at this...what happened to Hyrule and..."
I squinted my eyes and saw the ruined Hyrule castle and I can still see where Calamity Ganon but, it looks like something is holding him back.
"Calamity Ganon...is still there?! Master Impa, tell me the truth, how long was I in a coma?"
"My dear...you've been asleep for 100 years."
I was shocked by this and Impa also told me.
"And that's not all...Calamity Ganon is going to return soon...and Zelda is still in there holding him back as we speak..."
