OS:Old Times Sake

This is VERY problematic. But I've run out of patience.

The hall buzzed with activity. She entered the academy with baited breath, a myriad of emotions running in her mind. She was more than happy for Monami. She had received a call from her, telling her to come back as soon as possible. She was happy to see Monami happy, atleast she sounded happy. After everything she had been through, and all of the things she had done, if there was anyone who deserved happiness, it was her.

On the other hand, her mind raced trying to find an all-too-familiar face in the crowd. She didn't know why was the place crowded, and she couldn't have cared less.

Her eyes flew over the waves of people, until they stopped. Froze. There he was, standing against the wall. He seemed happy. A wave of guilt washed over her. How could she approach him? Every line that she had rehearsed a million times seemed to fly away. She walked towards, her heart hammering.

He looked up, and she froze once again, her expression melting into an amalgam of guilt and affection. The slight frown on his lips betrayed the awe in his eyes. For a few seconds, they just stood there, as if time itself had frozen.

"Siddhart." His name came out as a small whisper.

"Sanju.." he gave a small smile, before turning his eyes to the floor, anxious.

"Hum..hum jaante hai ki shayad tum hume dekhna bhi nahi chahte ho. Lekin hume tumse baat karni hai Siddhart...please keh raho hai..." she said, her eyes pleading to his.

He looked up.

"I think..mujhe bhi kuch kehna hai. So...uh..can we find someplace quiet." He breathed out.

She nodded, a more than a little nervous.

Siddhart and Sanjana stood at the railing of the terrace, a comfortable silence between them as they looked up at the sky. Sid shifted a little, pointing at the sky.

"Look, a shooting star" he smiled. Sanjana passed him a small smile, before turning to look at the sky again.

"Siddhart...hum tumse sorry kehna chahte hai."

Sid straightened a little.

"Mujhe bhi sorry kehna hai. I behaved like a jerk"

"Hume tumhe yahan aake, tumhaare saamne sach batana chahiye tha."

"Hmm.."

"Hum yahan ye bolne nahi aaye hai ki hum saari galtiyo ko bhoolke firse sab kuch pehle jaisa karna chahte hai. Lekin...hum tumse naraaz nahi hai."

"Naraaz mai bhi nahi hu Sanju. Shayad neither of us were wrong. Monu once said..its never about why you react, it's about how you react. Hum dono se hi galti hui hai." He stopped to take a breath.

"You know, I've always believed it, heartbreaks are the best teachers. I was upset, I know tum bhi thi..but maine ek cheez seekhi Sanju. That in the end, fact fact hi rehta hai. Our worlds are different. You were right."

"Humne ye kabhi nahi bola tha ki humaari duniya mil nahi sakti Siddharth. Zameen aasman bhi toh milte hai na. Bas...ek samay ke baad.."

"I know...its just...mujhe lagta hai ki shayad, abhi hum dono me se koi bhi relationship ke liye ready nahi hai. And that's okay..."

"Hmm...hum bhi yahi kehna chahte hai Siddharth. Hum pehle khudko dhundna chahte hai, fir pyaar ko. Aur hum tumse pyaar karte hai Siddharth. Humne tumhaara dil dikhaaya tha, sach toh ye tha ki agar hum tumhaare saamne aake sab kuch bolte, toh shayad kuch keh hi nahi paate. Bohot himmat karke yahan tak aaye hai, sirf ye tassalli Paane ke liye ki agar hume kisi mission pe jaana ho, toh ye sochke naa jaaye ki...jab tumse mile the toh tumhaara dil dukhaake gaye the. Sorry keh rao hai Siddharth, lekin hume samay chahiye."

"I...I completely get you. And once again, meri taraf se bhi sorry. But...mai tumse bas ek cheez maang sakta hu?" He turned towards her. She gave him a look of approval.

"We may not be..uhm...life partners..for now, but we're still a team right?" He asked with a sheepish look. Sanjana smiled, and nodded.

"So...partners?" He asked forwarding his hand. She took it and gave a firm shake, before enveloping him in a hug.

"Tum bohot achhe insaan ho Siddharth...tum chahe jo banke raho, bas humaare saath rehna, aur hum tumhaare saath rahenge."

"Thank you Sanju...plus..." he said breaking the hug and rummaging his coat pocket. He pulled out a single beer can.

"Uh...can we? For old times sake?" He smiled. She returned a hearty smile before nodding enthusiastically.
