OS: Eudaimonia

After an hour of being buried in the dictionary, I found a suitable title!

The word means a contented state of being happy and lucky♡

It's a nice word. Sounds good.

They were there. They had found Karan. He wasn't in a good shape. He could barely stand. They knew he needed to stay alive. He had to.

He wouldn't, if they didn't get out in time. And there was no way out. They ran, as far as they could. But someone had to hold their forces back.

"Siddhart! Bala! Ruko..." she said, coming to a stop. Sid stopped, Karan who was leaning against him was panting.

"Hum aur nahi bhaag sakte. Agar unko roka nahi to hum sab maare jaayenge. Agle 15 minute me ye poori building udne waali hai." She said a grimly. Sid saw it in her eyes. He let out a breath, looking at her as she pulled out her gun.

"Sanju, nahi." Karan whispered weakly. Sid looked at him and signed Bala to take him over. Bala, who now understood what was happening, felt the fear crawl in.

Sid slowly walked towards her.

"Siddhart..." she whispered, placing a hand on his cheek.

"Sanju...tum jaanti ho na. You're... not coming back." He said, his voice breaking as he tried to hold back tears. She nodded, unshed tears glistening in her eyes.

"Agar mai bolu...ki mat jao...to tum meri baat nahi manogi na." He said, tilting his head as the first tears broke through. She shook her head a lone tear escaping.

"Sorry keh rao hai Siddhart..." she said pulling his face closer, linking his forehead with hers.

"Its alright....I....you and I, we're soldiers before partners...right? Romance ke beech me action..is our thing." Sid said, his voice thick with emotions. Sanjana gave a shaking chuckle.

"I love you keh rao hai Siddhart." She sniffled. Sid smile through the tears.

"You said it...hum bhi I love you keh rao hai San..." he couldn't complete as he broke into tears. Sanjana immediately wrapped her arms around him. She felt his warmth, and he felt hers. He took everything in, the smell of her perfume, the texture of her hair, the sound of her voice. He wanted to remember it all.

"Siddhart...agar ab nahi choda....to shayad kabhi nahi chod paayenge." She said breaking the hug, wiping his and her own tears.

"Humne waada kiya tha...ki tum Monami ki zindigi ko kuch nahi hone denge, aur hum Sirji ko kuch nahi hone denge? Waada nibhaane ka samay aa gaya." She gave a smile that reached her eyes, which held guilt. Sid smiled back, leaving her hand and gave her a small nod. He walked back to Bala and Karan, looking at her.

Karan grabbed his arm.

"Tu pyaar karta hai na usse...vo teri sunegi...use rok.." Karan spoke the loudest he could, which still came out in a hushed voice.

"Pyaar karta hu isiliye to jaane diya. Monu ne bhi aapko kahan roka. Besides...she's doing her job." Sid looked at him with a sad smile. Karan looked at him before lowering his eyes.

"Bhaiji...lekin--"

"BalaG bro...nope. Let's go. Monu is waiting." Sid clenched his jaw, as he turned back one last time, watching her figure fade into the darkness. Turning back, they escaped, the sound of bullets ringing in their ears.

They stopped only at a safe distance from the building. Gathering courage, Sid turned around. The building burst in a fiery explosion.

~~~~~
Sid sat outside alone, as the medics and fire fighters worked around the building. Karan was taken to safety.
He couldn't look away from the building. Somewhere, even after knowing she wasn't coming back, he hoped she would. He prayed she would.
What they said was true. When you've lost something, their life with you washed before your eyes. He wouldn't cry now, he had to be strong. He had to be proud. He closed his eyes, trying to relive the feeling of her in his arms.
His attention suddenly broke away, at the sound of a sudden commotion near the medics in front of the building. He ran forward, his heart thumping. He hated himself for even planting the hope that she could be alive in his head, but he couldn't help it.
He reached there and felt the ground slip beneath his feet. There she was leaning on the shoulder of a medic, who was trying to assess her wounds. And then her eyes fell on him.
He froze, she froze. Their eyes met.
"Sanju..."
