"So, some fucked up cult is after you, because your dad is quite literally Satan and you have some weird ass demon powers?" I asked Rachel as her, Richard, and I stood in my kitchen, while Giovanna watched cartoons in the living room.
I leaned against the counter by the sink, across from the blue haired girl who sat on top of it by the microwave. Richard was a few feet away from me, leaning against the fridge with his arms crossed as he kept an unreadable expression on his face.
"Yeah, that's about it." The teenager confirmed, seemingly surprised that her situation was so simple for me to sum up.
"And how did you guys meet?" I asked curiously, my brown eyes flicking between Rachel and my ex–best friend.
"I got myself arrested, because I had a vision that you both could help me." She shrugged, making my eyes go wide.
"Hold on, hold on!" I stammered, stopping the girl from continuing. "What do you mean by 'both'? How would you know that Richard and I knew each other, let alone that he'd come to me for help?"
"When I touched Dick's hand, I saw you in his memory. I'd previously had a vision of you helping me and seeing how much Dick cared about you, I figured that he'd come to you eventually." Rachel explained with a sigh.
"Well, okay then." I stated simply, raising an eyebrow.
"You're way too calm about all of this." Dick told me with a furrowed brow. "Aren't you going to call us crazy? Or say that we're messing with you?"
"Yeah, why aren't you calling the cops? Or getting mad? Or punching Dick in the face?" Rachel asked, making me chuckle.
"Wait, why am I the one that gets punched in the face?" The hazel eyed man asked, slightly offended.
"Because you guys have unresolved issues and I haven't done anything to piss her off." The blue haired girl stated with a shrug, earning a smile from me.
"Also I don't feel like getting arrested for assaulting a minor." I joked with a smirk.
"Wow! Thanks, Z, that's a nice sentiment." The Grayson man said sarcastically.
"And speaking of unresolved issues... you two need to talk some shit out." The Roth girl said, giving the two of us a knowing look. "I'm going to go entertain Giovanna."
Dick and I watched as Rachel left the kitchen and sat down next to my daughter. The teenager started making silly faces at the two year old, making the toddler giggle.
A smile grew on my face as I watched the heartwarming scene unfold. "She's a good kid."
"Yeah, she shouldn't have to go through the shit that she is." The ex-acrobat told me with a sigh.
"Why am I like this?" I sighed after a brief silence, earning a confused look from Richard.
"Like what?"
"Constantly allowing myself to help your reckless ass, while knowing that I'll probably end up with a few bullet holes." I told my old friend with a small smile.
"Z, I can't ask you to do that." He argued with a shake of his head. "What about Giovanna?"
"She can stay with my dad." I explained, before chuckling. "Knowing Giovanni Zatara, he'll be more than happy to have a chance to spoil her more."
"I don't know, Z—." Richard started, but I cut him off. "Richard, just shut up and let me help you."
"Thank you, Z."
"Anytime, Rickie." I told him with a smile, before we both turned to watch the girls get along.

"Rachel, sweetie, are you sure you don't mind sharing with Gia? You're welcome to take my room and I can—." I started to suggest, my motherly instincts kicking in.
"I'm sure, Zatanna." She interrupted with a chuckle. "I'm not going to kick you out of your own bed."
"Sweetie, I rarely get any sleep anyway. Whether or not I sleep in my room won't change that." I told the younger girl with a chuckle.
"Rachel, I suggest that you take her offer." Dick told the younger girl with a chuckle, as he leaned against the doorframe. "Once Z is determined on something, there's no changing her mind."
"He's not wrong." I agreed with a nod and a victorious grin.
"Fine." The blue haired girl let out a sigh of defeat and rolled her eyes in mock irritation. "Goodnight, you guys."
"Goodnight, Rachel." I told her with a warm smile and Dick gave her a simple nod in reply as she made her way into my room.
I walked into Giovanna's room and checked on her one more time. A smile made its way onto my face as I watched my little girl sleep peacefully in her crib. The dim light of her Mickey Mouse nightlight illuminated the small room with an orange glow.
"I always knew that one day you'd make a great mom." The Grayson man stated quietly as he joined me in the toddler's room.
"Really?" I asked softly, as to not wake my daughter. I raised a curious brow as my gaze met that of the taller man.
"Yeah, the way that you would always fuss over any of us, if someone got injured. You always knew just what to say and do to make everything seem okay, even if it was just for a little while."
"Well, if I didn't, then who would?" I asked rhetorically with a grin. "Surely not Bruce."
"Alfred, maybe?" He chuckled with a shrug.
"That man is truly a saint for having raised Bruce." I joked with a light laugh as we moved our conversation into the hall, so as not to disturb Giovanna.
"Agreed."
"You say that is if you weren't just as bad, Richard." I teased the brunette man with a grin.
"I resent that!" The hazel eyed man laughed with a roll of his eyes.
"Oh, please! You were the poster child of douchebags and broodiness!" I argued with a smirk. "Which I totally blame Bruce for, by the way."
"I was not a douchebag!" He exclaimed defensively.
"Yes, you were! You were literally one of the biggest assholes I'd ever met at the time!" I stated with a laugh. "Remember when you ditched me on the first mission we'd partnered up for! You told me that you worked alone and didn't want an amateur vigilante to get in the way."
"Wow, I was an asshole." Dick stated in surprise, before asking me. "Why the hell did you become friends with me?"
"Because you were literally the only other person my age that I knew." I admitted bluntly, earning a snicker from the Grayson man.
"Ain't that the truth."
"God, we were such antisocial losers!" I chuckled with a shake of my head.
"What do you mean 'were'? We still are antisocial losers." The former acrobat joked with a raised brow. "The only difference is that we grew a few inches and pay taxes now."
"Touché, Rickie." I laughed, before glancing at the time on my phone. "It's late, I'm gonna head to bed."
"Alright, see you in the morning, Z."
"See you tomorrow." I told the taller man with a smile. "Goodnight, my fellow antisocial loser."
"Night, loser."
