The Battle Chateau
We all sat silently in the Pokemon Center, waiting for Chespin and Fennekin to heal. The battle against Aaron had worn them out. He was obviously a powerful trainer, and didn't mess around. His Frogadier was also trained well.
I stared at the door where a Wigglytuff had taken Chespin and Fennekin for treatment. As much as those two annoyed me with their constant bickering, it was too quite without them. I heard someone sigh and glanced up at Morgan, who was also intently staring at the door. She and Nick had taken their loss hard. After all, Aaron and Frogadier had totally mopped the floor with them, and a defeat like that is never easy to take.
A loud ding redirected my attention to the door, where a Wigglytuff wheeled a cart out. Sitting on the cart were Chespin and Fennekin, fully healed. A lady with pink hair and blue eyes followed them out.
"I'm happy to say that your Chespin and Fennekin are fulled healed!" Nurse Joy announced. Chespin and Fennekin leapt off the cart and into their trainers' laps.
"Thank you, Nurse Joy!" Nick and Morgan chorused.
"You're welcome!" Nurse Joy replied before going back to treat more Pokemon with Wigglytuff.
"Morgan, I'm sorry I lost," Chespin sighed.
"I'm sorry, Nick," Fennekin stated, "I can't believe I've lost twice."
"I'm sorry I couldn't help you win, Fennekin," Nick answered, rubbing Fennekin's ears, "I've let you down twice."
"Don't worry Chespin," Morgan stated, "It's not your fault I lost."
"You two should train to prepare for difficult battles like that," Genevieve suggested.
Morgan and Nick glanced at each other. "But, where can we get stronger?" Morgan asked.
"We could just challenge wild Pokemon, but I don't think that's fair," Nick noted.
"You want to get stronger?" a voice from across the room questioned. Everyone's attention was drawn to a woman who was dressed like a maid.
"Who are you?" Morgan questioned.
"My name's Anglia," the lady answered, "I work at the Battle Chateau, which is just a short walk from here. It's where trainers gather to battle. If you want to get stronger, the Battle Chateau is a great place to train."
"Really?" Nick asked, "Can you show us?"
"Gladly," Anglia replied.
A short walk later, we arrived at a large mansion that appeared to be floating on the river. An outdoor battlefield could be seen behind the tall building.
"This is the Battle Chateau!" Anglia exclaimed.
"Wow, it looks awesome!" Morgan shouted.
"It looks even better in real life than in the games," I mumbled to myself.
"What?" Fennekin asked. Conner gave me a warning glare.
"Ah, nothing!" I yelled, panicked, "Absolutely nothing!"
"Hurry, we're loosing them!" Chespin called before racing after our trainers and into the Battle Chateau. We all followed him.
The inside was just as grand as the outside, with beautifully tiled floors and fancy decor that made the Chateau appear to be a castle. Everything appeared to have been polished recently.
"Wow, this place is gorgeous!" Fennekin gasped.
"You say that about every single place we visit," Chespin whined.
"Not every place," Fennekin argued, "To be honest, I don't much like the Pokemon Center's decor. They shouldn't have pick orange to be their color. I heard it makes you hungry, and it isn't good for your nerves. They should redecorate with some nice, calming pastel colors. Especially aqua. It helps promote healing. Also-"
"Okay, I get it!" Chespin snapped.
"How will this place help us train?" Nick inquired, "It doesn't seem like a place to battle."
Amelia smiled, "That's because this is just where I welcome guests and our knights."
"Knights?" Morgan questioned.
"Of course," Amelia replied, "Knights are what we call the trainers who battle here at the Chateau. Each trainer who joins receives a rank, as well as a title. You start out as a Baron or a Baroness, then you become a Viscount or Viscountess, then Earl or Countess, then Marquis or Marchioness, then Duke or Duchess, then the highest ranks; Grand Duke and Grand Duchess. You rank up by collecting a certain number of victories."
"That sounds awesome!" Morgan stated, "How do we join?"
"That's easy. All you do is challenge someone else who wishes to join, and then who ever emerges as the victor is granted the rank of Baron or Baroness."
"Does that mean I'll be battling Morgan?" Nick asked.
"And will I be battling him?" Morgan inquired.
"It does appear that way," Amelia observed.
"That won't do any good," Genevieve stated.
Amelia started. Her gaze landed on Genevieve of the first time since she had talked to Morgan and Nick.
"Ch- I mean, Grand Duchess Genevieve! I didn't see you there!" Amelia exclaimed, "I'm so sorry! These two just distracted me, and you know how excited I get when I start talking about the Chateau! Please, forgive me!"
Genevieve looked rather taken aback by Amelia's outburst. "Uh, I forgive you," she replied.
Amelia sighed in relieve. "Thank goodness. If you took offense from my lack of attention, I greatly apoligize."
"No, no, it's not a problem," Genevieve stated, "It's forgiven!"
"Great!" Amelia smiled, "Now, uh, what where we talking about?"
"Us not having to battle each other in order to join the Chateau," Nick answered.
"You won't have to battle each other!" Amelia's grin grew even bigger, "Luckily for you, I recall that to twins were requesting to join as well, and they didn't want to fight each other. You two can battle them in a double battle!"
"Great!" Morgan cheered, "Let's go, Chespin!"
"Ready to train, Fennekin?" Nick asked, turning towards his partner. Fennekin barked happily and gracefully trotted deeper into the Chateau. everyone followed her deeper into the Chateau.
Eventually, we came to a large room filled with people. It had two levels, and several different places to sit. Large, glass doors lined one wall. They lead to a terrance overlooking the battlefield at the back of the complex. Amelia came up behind us. "This is the meeting room. It's where you can be challenged. Of course, you can only challenge people of your own rank."
"Wow, really? This is going to be great!" Morgan exclaimed.
"Uh, how do we get challenged?" Nick inquired.
"Usually, you will be handed a pair of white gloves. However, for your debut battle, we will simply announce when the challenge is prepared," Amelia explained.
"When will our battle be prepared?" Morgan questioned.
"Hi!" a voice cheered.
Everyone turned and saw two girls approaching. One girl wore a long, pinkish- purple dress with matching boots. She had long, purple hair and violet eyes. The girl next to her wore a similar outfit; a long, black dress with black boots. She had short, black hair and crimson eyes.
The purple twin bounced up to Morgan. "Hi!" she happily exclaimed, "My name is Celestia, and this is my twin sister, Luna!"
"Hello, you two! My name's Nick," Nick introduced himself, "And my partner is Fennekin."
"Hello! I love your outfit!" Fennekin nodded.
Celestia looked down at Fennekin. "Aww! You are sooo CUTE!" She bent down and picked up Fennekin.
"Ah, hey! Watch the fur, please!" Fennekin yelped.
"Sorry," Celestia apologized, "Do you like to be scratched behind your ears?"
"Do I?" Fennekin exclaimed gleefully, sliding her head under Celestia's hand.
Celestia giggled and started to scratch Fennekin's ears, as Fennekin let out happy yelps.
The other girl, Luna, slowly approached Chespin and Morgan.
"H- hello," she muttered.
Morgan smiled. "Hi! I'm Morgan, and my partner is Chespin!"
Chespin raced up to stand beside Morgan. "Hi, I'm Chespin!"
Luna bent down to Chespin's leave. "He- hello Chespin. Ah, i- is it okay if I p- pet you?"
Chespin grinned, "Not at all!"
"Good," Luna sighed. She reached out and carefully pat Chespin on the head.
I observed the two carefully. I felt like a knew them from somewhere. Maybe another fan fiction? I glanced and Morgan and Nick, and saw them watching them carefully, too.
"It's like they can almost understand Pokemon," Nick noted.
The two girl stiffen visibly at this, and exchanged glances.
"Wouldn't that be great?" another voice added. Everyone looked up as a girl with curly, red hair and brown eye walked towards our group. She was wearing a brown blouse, a skirt that resembled fire, and brown boots. "My name's Ruby. I'm watching over these two while we're visiting from another region."
"Wow," Morgan gasped, "All on your own with these two?"
Ruby blushed. "Well, not exactly..."
"RUBY! THERE YOU ARE!" someone shouted. A boy raced up to Ruby. He had smooth, short, blue hair and deep blue eyes. He was wearing a white shirt, white pants, and white shoes. A royal blue cape fell from his shoulders, and gradually narrowed until ending in a fine point with two deep blue orbs. The clasp resembled a blue pearl. Somehow, he reminded me of the ocean.
Ruby sighed. "This is Flicker. He's a friend from my school."
"Just a friend?" Flicker gasped, "I thought that, after all we went through last year, you would at least say BFFs Forever!"
Ruby shoved Flicker lightly. "Come on, you're worse than Leo, sometimes! Besides, 'forever' is in 'BFF!'"
Flicker pouted, but before he could say anymore, Amelia interrupted him.
"And now, it is time for the debut battle!" she announced. Everyone rushed outside to the battle arena. Once everyone was settled, she continued, "Let us give the knight who are about to have their first battles at the Battle Chateau a round of applause! Each trainer can only use one Pokemon. Whichever side wins this battle will then be awarded the noble titles of 'Baron' or 'Baroness'. May you both battle with spirit while observing the knight's code of chivalry."
Celestia and Luna stepped forward, each holding a Pokeball. Morgan and Nick each grabbed Fennekin's and Chespin's empty Pokeballs and did the same. The two groups tapped Pokeballs.
"To a good battle," Celestia and Luna chimed.
"To a good battle," Morgan and Nick echoed.
Each side then when to their respective places on the battlefield.
"Trapinch, time to battle," Luna whispered, tossing out a ball. A flash of light revealed a small orange Pokemon.
"VANILLITE! BATTLE TIME!" Celestia shouted, tossing her pokeball into the air, revealing a ice cream cone like Pokemon.
Morgan and Nick both pulled out their Pokedex and scanned the Pokemon.
"Trapinch, the Ant Pit Pokémon. Trapinch dig cone-shaped holes in desert areas. Its large and powerful jaws are capable of crushing stones," the electronic voice explained.
"Vanillite, the Fresh Snow Pokémon. Vanillite is created from ice crystals that are illuminated by the morning sun. Its breath is 58 degrees below zero," the electronic voice continued. Both trainers then put up their Pokedex.
"Chespin, let's go!" Morgan cheered.
Chespin leapt forward. "Anytime!" he answered.
"Your turn, Fennekin!" Nick exclaimed.
Fennekin trotted in front of her trainer. "Ready," she stated.
Celestia started off. "VANILLITE, AVALANCHE!" she shouted.
"Bulldoze," Luna whispered.
Trapinch stomped the ground, creating huge shock waves that crashed towards Fennekin and Chespin. The attack knocked both Pokemon off their feet. They recovered, and Vanillite created and avalanche to fall on top of the two Pokemon, totally covering them in snow.
"Fennekin, Ember! Melt the snow!" Nick ordered.
The snow pile glowed faintly, before melting, revealing Fennekin and Chespin underneath.
"Now, Flame Charge Vanillite!" Nick ordered.
"Counter with... uh... bulldoze," Luna stated.
Fennekin raced at Vanillite cloaked in flames. Trapinch stomped the ground. The resulting shock wave sent Fennekin flying. Chespin stumbled, but managed to keep his footing.
"Aim at Vanillite and use Ember, then Flame Charge!' Nick called.
In mid air, Fennekin created a fire ball and shot it at Vanillite, before cloaking herself in flames and falling on top of Vanillite. Vanaillite fainted.
"Bulldoze again," Luna whispered.
Trapinch stomped the ground, and sent a shock wave towards Fennekin and Chespin.
"Chespin, Vine Whip Trapinch and use the momentum of Bulldoze to send Trapinch flying!" Morgan commanded.
Chespin's vine's wrapped around Trapinch just before the Bulldoze reached him. When the shock wave hit Chespin, he let it's momentum knock him over, sending Trapinch, still entangled in Chespin's Vine Whip, flying. When Trapinch landed, she had fainted.
"We won!" Morgan cheered.
"And now," Amalia stated, handing Morgan and Nick each a white cloak, "I am proud to award Morgan and Nick with the noble title of Baron and Baroness. Congratulations."

~ Author's Note
Sorry this chapter took so long. I had to do a lot of research on the Battle Chateau to make this seem more realistic. And yet, I still feel like I missed something... oh, well.
Also, Independence Day was yesterday, and I had to go over to my grandfather's house had no wi- fi, so I couldn't type while I was there. Sorry.
Oh, the characters Ruby, Flicker, Celestia, and Luna are from another fan fiction I'm working on. It's not out, yet. I decided to throw them in here because 1) I love their characters, and 2) I'm terrible at coming up with background characters. They might appear one or two more times, whenever I'm in need of a background character or two.
Anyways, I have a randomness book, Total Randomness, if you want to go check it out. I post updates for my stories in that book, as well as random stuff whenever I'm bored. Which is usually.
So, please vote, comment, and I'll see you next author's note!
