2.4 BASKETBALL GAME
The basketball team consists of Yin, Kimi, Jun, Vernon, Jeonghan, and Seoyoon. The staff notify them that they will be playing 3 on 3 basketball outside on the court next to the boys' dorm.
JEONGHAN: "We should split the good players from the others."
Jun laughs. Jeonghan nervously chuckles.
JEONGHAN: "Just to make it balanced."
JUN: "Ah... I agree. So you and Yin?"
JEONGHAN: "Me and Yin will be the captains of each team. Is that okay?"
Everyone nods their heads while gathering in the living room.
VERNON: "Oh, then are you two picking players?"
Jeonghan nods with a smile.
JEONGHAN: "I think we should. It'll be fair that way."
VERNON: "Okay. I don't disagree."
The teams are as follows...
BLACK TEAM = YIN + JUN + VERNON
WHITE TEAM = JEONGHAN + SEOYOON + KIMI
YIN: "Sorry, unnies, but I told you I couldn't pick you."
The guys chuckle as Yin puts on a black mesh basketball jersey along with her other teammates.
SEOYOON: "Yin-ah... I made you breakfast."
Kimi chuckles as she softly hits Seoyoon's arm. The others also chuckle as Seoyoon appears fake disappointed. Yin shrugs.
YIN: "Thank you."
JUN: (chuckles) "Haha! She says 'thank you'. Wah..."
The members put on their mesh jerseys with their team color and leave the living room. The cameras follow them outside as they pass through the grassy lawn and head towards the basketball court around back. They squint at the sun with smiles on their faces.
JUN: "It's not too hot out."
He runs a hand through his blonde hair.
JEONGHAN: "Right. It feels nice! A good day for a game."
They stroll past the outdoor camping spot with firewood and a tent until they reach the fenced-in basketball court behind the dorm beside the lake. The staff are waiting there with cameras as the members arrive. Jeonghan and Yin confidently lead their team onto the spongey basketball court and stand in a line in the center.
STAFF: "OK! You will be playing full-court. You'll do a jump ball to start then immediately play. First to 50 points is the winner."
JEONGHAN: "50? Okay. I see you made it a bit easier for us." (chuckles)
VERNON: "50 is easy?"
Jeonghan glances down the line at Jun and Vernon on the opposite team. Kimi raises her hand, looking uncomfortable.
KIMI: "I'm sorry. What does jump ball mean?"
STAFF: "Ah, no problem! A jump ball is when one member from each team face each other at the center, and a staff member will throw the ball up in the air between the two, and the first to grab it will be the first to start the game and begin trying to make shots."
KIMI: "Oh, okay. Thank you! I don't play basketball, so..."
She giggles as Seoyoon gives her a comforting smile.
SEOYOON: "That's alright."
JEONGHAN: "You don't have to worry about that part. I think me and Yin will probably do the jump ball. Yin, is that okay?"
YIN: (nods) "That's alright."
KIMI: "I'm fine with that too, haha."
STAFF: "If no other questions, should we begin?"
The members line up around the center, black team on one side of the center line and white team on the other facing them. Jeonghan and Yin go head-to-head, wearing competitive smirks, as a staff member throws the basketball in the air to begin. Jeonghan easily snatches the ball then starts dribbling it as he directs Seoyoon and Kimi to go to the other side of the court and stay 'open'.
JEONGHAN: "Each person should have a person they guard. Yin will be blocking me. Seoyoon and Kimi, just try to move around and keep the others from blocking you."
KIMI: "Okay."
YIN: "Junhui, stay on Seoyoon, and Vernon can guard Kimi."
JUN: "Okay!"
Jun confidently guards Seoyoon, his tall frame towering over her as his long arms flail up high and block her vision of Jeonghan with the ball. She tries to run around him to get a view of Jeonghan, but Jun keeps his guard up with a laugh.
JUN: "This'll be easy."
SEOYOON: "Hey, this isn't fair!" (chuckles)
Meanwhile, on the other side of the court closer to the basketball hoop, Vernon is guarding Kimi with no energy. His hands are at his sides as his feet awkwardly shuffle side to side as Kimi tries to move around him. He focuses on her face while every now and then taking glances back at Jeonghan - who has dribbled past Yin and made a beeline for the net. He shoots and scores a two-pointer, catching the rebound.
SEOYOON: "I can't see but you made it!"
Seoyoon claps as Jun giggles and stops guarding her as it's the black team's turn to try to make a shot on the other half of the court. Jeonghan passes the ball to Yin who will begin the next attempt at a point for her team, jogging to the center as everyone else jogs to the other side of the court.
YIN: "Unnie, you should've worn some platform shoes instead of Converse! You need some extra height!"
The youngest jokes as she dribbles the ball then looks towards Vernon and Jun to see if they're open. As Seoyoon glances down at her shoes, not paying attention, Yin passes the ball to Jun and he dribbles towards the basket and makes a two-pointer.
JUN: "Woo-hoo!"
He smiles and shares a high-five with Vernon.
JUN: "That was too easy. Haha."
JEONGHAN: "Seoyoon, you're supposed to block Jun so he doesn't get the ball."
SEOYOON: "I got it! I just got distracted."
JEONGHAN: "I'll let it go since you're a rookie... but stay on him, okay?"
He smirks jokingly and dribbles the ball to the center. As everyone gets to their places, Jeonghan motions for Kimi to move toward the center as he passes her the ball, but it slips from her grasp. Vernon also stumbles for the ball and awkwardly grabs it, then passes it to Yin, who dribbles towards the other side of the court - but she's firmly blocked by Jeonghan. She moves around him and it seems like he allows her to take another shot. The score is now 4:2.
At this point, Jeonghan starts putting up 3-pointer shots every time it's his turn. Because Kimi and Seoyoon are firmly guarded by the other team, he doesn't even think to pass to them and just relies on his strength and skill. And it works. In the blink of an eye, the black team was up to 14 points thanks to Jeonghan, taking a six-point lead on the other team.
JUN: "Wow. Jeonghan's showing out."
KIMI: "He's really good!"
Kimi smiles in awe while watching Jeonghan dribble past Yin as Vernon guards her.
VERNON: "Mhm."
Jeonghan makes another 3 points as he jogs to the other side of the court, out of breath. Seoyoon gives him a high-five and grins.
SEOYOON: "Good job. I didn't know you were so good."
He smiles while catching his breath, eyeing the other team and Yin as she grabs the ball.
JEONGHAN: "I used to play for fun as a kid."
SEOYOON: "Well, thanks for getting us points. You might as well be a one-man team." (chuckles)
JEONGHAN: (smiles) "Just follow my lead and we'll win this game."
***
The main shooters were Jeonghan and Yin, who went back and forth making 3-pointers look easy. It was pretty much their game and the others were the supporting cast. As exhausting as it was to run back and forth and do fancy handball tricks, Jeonghan kept a smile on his sweaty face. Jun also had fun guarding Seoyoon and making fun of her small frame. He was good at keeping her cornered so she couldn't interfere with Yin's shots - something Yin was externally grateful for.
YIN: "Good job, oppa! Don't let her get away!"
Yin claps for Jun after making her shots as he laughs. Then, she covers her mouth with worried eyes.
YIN: "Oh! Is it alright to call you oppa? Since you all are older than me..."
She asks, referring to Jeonghan and Vernon. They casually nod their heads.
JUN: "That's fine. We can speak casually."
Yin signs in relief and smiles up at Jun.
YIN: "Or maybe I should call you gege..."
She beams while speaking in Chinese.
YIN: (in Chinese) "My favorite older brother..."
Jun blushes, then chuckles while rubbing his neck. His eyes wonder a bit as he gives her a shy thumbs up.
JUN: "OK. Yes."
YIN: (in Chinese) "Keep up the good work, older brother!"
He chuckles and nods in response.
JUN: (in Chinese) "Thank you."
SEOYOON: "What did you say, Yin-ah?"
YIN: "I was telling him good job."
JEONGHAN: "All I understood was gege."
VERNON: "I wish I knew multiple languages."
JUN: "You can speak English, what do you mean? Haha."
VERNON: (smiles) "I just mean other than that..."
Kimi turns to Vernon as they walk across the court as Jeonghan grabs the ball and gets ready to start.
KIMI: "Is there a specific language you want to learn?"
He grins.
VERNON: "Well, I was taking Chinese classes with this free app, but... it's hard." (laughs)
Kimi laughs along with him and nods.
VERNON: (in English) "Like, the different sounds and the writing system is difficult..."
KIMI: (in English) "Yeah, no, for sure! It was tough for me too when I learned it."
VERNON: "Oh, you learned Chinese?"
KIMI: "Yes. I was a Language major in college, so I learned Chinese among other things. I like it though. Once you get used to it, or you hear it a lot, it's cool."
Vernon looks at her in amazement as Jeonghan starts dribbling the ball with impatience.
JEONGHAN: "We ready?"
Yin puts her hands up to block Jeonghan as he dribbles around her. Jun blocks Seoyoon who's still struggling to see around his frame. Kimi and Vernon continue to chat.
VERNON: "Ah, really? You studied languages? That's impressive. That... that takes a lot of focus."
KIMI: "It's definitely a brain workout, haha!"
They chuckle as Jeonghan eyes them.
JEONGHAN: "Kimi-ssi, don't let Vernon distract you! He may not seem like a threat, but that's his tactic!"
VERNON: "Bro, I have no tactics..."
Kimi, Seoyoon, Jun, and Jeonghan chuckle in response to his blunt remark.
JEONGHAN: "Clearly! You haven't touched the ball the whole game. At least Seoyoon attempted to shoot."
SEOYOON: "Hey! Why are you bringing me up? Don't try to compare us. Vernon's doing what he can, and he's doing good."
JEONGHAN: "Agh... you're not a good liar, Seoyoon-ah..." (chuckles)
He jokes while making a 3-pointer from the center line. The black team now has 40 points. Only ten more until they win the game. Jun groans as he checks the scoreboard near the staff. The white team has 29 points.
YIN: "Can we take a time-out to plan our next steps?"
STAFF: "Yes. We'll give you a minute to recoup."
The staff blows their whistle as Yin motions for Jin and Vernon to huddle on the side. She appears breathless while resting one hand on her hip, glancing at the other team.
YIN: "We're behind by a lot, so we're gonna need to do things differently."
JUN: "You've been our MVP this whole game. We'll trust whatever you say." (laughs)
YIN: "I can try to make more shots, but, Jun oppa, do you think you could stay closer to the basket and I'll pass to you when you're open?"
JUN: (nods) "Uh, sure."
YIN: "Since you're taller, it should be a little easier to make the shots closer to the net. So stay close to it."
JUN: "Ah, I gotcha. Yes, ma'am!"
YIN: "And Vernon oppa, keep distracting Kimi. She hasn't made any points and we'll keep it that way."
Vernon and Jun chuckle.
VERNON: "Ah... distract her?"
YIN: "Yes. Just keep talking to her like you were."
VERNON: (grins) "Okay."
Meanwhile, Jeonghan's team is taking a water break and figuring out their own plan to win.
JEONGHAN: "10 more points and we win. We've been doing good but we have some wiggle room to make it interesting..."
KIMI: "Interesting howso?"
JEONGHAN: "I've been making most of the shots, but this round, I can pass the ball to you two and get more variety content for the show." (chuckles)
SEOYOON: "Ah, so you wanna laugh at our skills? Do you think we're a joke?!"
Seoyoon asks with fake anger, waving her fist in the air, and causing the other two to chuckle at her energetic outburst.
JEONGHAN: "I mean, you gotta use what you're good at. It's clearly not basketball... but if one of you made the winning shot, it would be the highlight of the show."
Jeonghan grins while looking at Seoyoon.
***
In the final minutes of the game, everyone took their roles seriously. Jun stayed practically glued beneath the net and Vernon kept Kimi talking about her favorite rock band near the other corner of the court, making a clear path for Yin to make some shots and/or pass the ball to Jun, who successfully made a couple tosses up to the net. As Yin's team was catching up in points, Jeonghan focused on passing the ball to Kimi and Seoyoon, who fumbled and missed several shots but were in good spirits. When there were only 5 points left to decide the winner, Jeonghan stepped up his game and made two more shots. One more point and the white team would win!
On their last round, he dribbled around Yin and faked it like he'd dunk the ball into the net - and Jun fell for it, charging for his older member and accidentally crashing into Vernon on the other side of the net. Seeing this, Jeonghan happily passed the ball to a shocked Seoyoon.
JEONGHAN: "SHOOT! SHOOT!"
Seoyoon nervously throws the ball toward the net... it hits the rim... and swirls in.
JEONGHAN: "WAAAHHHHHHHHH! WE WON!!"
Jeonghan cheers while jumping up and down, facing the staff. Kimi gasps and happily jogs over to Seoyoon, giving her a high five.
KIMI: "YOU DID IT!!"
SEOYOON: "I made it?"
Seoyoon continues to look amusingly appalled at her feat, as Jeonghan and Kimi chuckle and give each other high fives.
JEONGHAN: "WAHHHH! I told you this would be good content!"
SEOYOON: "We won. Wow!"
She continues to appear surprised as the other team appears disappointed. Well, mostly Yin. Yin stares at the staff in disbelief with her hands on her hips.
YIN: "How did she make that?"
JUN: "Wow. It's okay. Good game, good game!"
Jun takes the initiative of cheering on the other team, clapping his hands with a grin on his face. Vernon nods with a respective glance at the other team.
JUN: "They won fair and square. I respect it."
He gives Jeonghan, Kimi, and Seoyoon a respectful handshake and Vernon follows suit.
JEONGHAN: "Wow! That was amazing. Good job, team."
He claps his hands and gives Seoyoon and Kimi another round of high-fives. Kimi turns to a tired Yin and chuckles.
KIMI: "You're not gonna congratulate us?"
Yin wipes her sweaty forehead with the back of her arm and slowly walks toward the other team.
YIN: "I can't even hate. You guys were surprisingly good."
She gives them all high-fives as they smile proudly.
JEONGHAN: "Wah-ha. Thank you."
KIMI: "See. Told you we weren't that horrible. You gotta have more faith in us." (chuckles)
YIN: "Agh... today's just your lucky day..."
KIMI: "You did good too, Yin. I've never seen you play like that."
SEOYOON: "Yeah. You were more competitive today! I wonder why that is..."
Seoyoon shoots a cheeky glance at Kimi before glancing Jun's way.
YIN: "Don't even say it."
Kimi chuckles and pats Yin's back before Yin walks back over to her teammates, Jun and Vernon, who also have nice comments to give her. They casually leave the basketball court and walk back around to the main yard, heading for the boys' dorm kitchen to get some drinks. As they tiredly walk through the grassy yard, they spot another team of members playing badminton down the hill next to the lake near the girls' dorm.

2.5 BADMINTON GAME
The badminton team consists of Joshua, Hoshi, Dino, Seungkwan, and Sena. The staff reminds them it's a one-on-one tournament and tells them the order of the games. Since Seungkwan is the strongest player of the group, he and the staff agree to have him only play during the winner's round to make it fair.
STAFF: For Round 1, Joshua will challenge Dino, and Sena will challenge Hoshi. The winners of those games will then face each other in Round 2. Then, the winner of Round 2 will challenge Seungkwan in the final match which will determine the overall winner.
The members nod their heads in understanding as the staff continues.
STAFF: The overall winner of the game will win a prize, so try your best!!
SENA: "Oh, a prize? How nice!"
HOSHI: "What are the rules?"
STAFF: "The rule is the first one to 21 points wins."
Seungkwan and Joshua nod in understanding.
SEUNGKWAN: "Okay. So regular rules."
STAFF: "We're ready to start when you are. Let's have Joshua and Dino start first."
The staff with their cameras are set around the badminton net placed on the grassy field between the girls' and boys' dorms. It was a large, well-trimmed field with dandelions sprinkled about, and the playing area was down the hill from the boys' dorm on a level piece of land beside the calm lake, which provided a relaxing view for the Seventeen members who acted as onlookers to the game.
Joshua and Dino grab a racket and birdie and walk to opposite sides of the net. The other members - Sena, Seungkwan, and Hoshi - sit in white lawn chairs on the sidelines opposite the cameras and staff. Sena crosses her long legs and puts on her sunglasses to watch comfortably.
SEUNGKWAN: "Let's go!! Areeee youuuu readdyyyyyy? Fight!!"
Seungkwan punches his fist in the air with excitement as Joshua glances at him and chuckles.
DINO: "Is this a wrestling match?"
HOSHI: (to Seungkwan) "Hey, who do you think is gonna win?"
SEUNGKWAN: "My money's on Joshua. We play together all the time and he's pretty good. Dino's no match."
Dino glares at Seungkwan as he spins his racket in his hands.
DINO: "I can hear you, you know..."
Hoshi chuckles and then turns to Sena.
HOSHI: "Sena, who do you think will win?"
SENA: "Mm... either one of them could."
SEUNGKWAN: "You can say Joshua. It's okay."
SENA: "No, honestly, I don't-- I've never seen anyone play, so I don't know their skill level yet. Ask me in five minutes." (chuckles)
With that, the game begins. Dino serves the birdie and has a nice back and forth with Joshua that lasts a good minute. Then Joshua's skills take over as Dino misses a couple passes. Every time Dino misses, Seungkwan teases him with a mean joke.
SEUNGKWAN: "Dino! You know the object of the game is to hit the birdie OVER the net, not into it."
DINO: "AHAHAHAHA. You're so funny."
Hoshi chuckles at their banter as the game continues...
***
Eventually, Joshua wins the first round. Next up are Sena and Hoshi. They trade places with Joshua and Dino and grab their rackets. Sena nervously toys with her racket while flipping her long hair over her shoulder.
DINO: "You can do it, Sena!"
JOSHUA: "Let's go, Sena."
Sena nervously smiles while looking at Hoshi, who also has a big smile on his face.
SENA: "Are you starting or me?"
HOSHI: "I'll start."
Hoshi grabs a birdie, holds it carefully against the criss-cross netting of the racket, swings his racket behind him, and hits the little ball up into the air... where it comes floating down right before the net. He jogs to pick it up as the others tease him.
DINO: "Agh. Amateur..."
SEUNGKWAN: "Hoshi, what are you doing?!"
HOSHI: (laughs) "That was a warm-up hit."
JOSHUA: "Ah, guys, it was a warm-up..."
SEUNGKWAN: (to Joshua) "Ah, just practice? Okay. Okay. We'll give him that."
Hoshi tries to hit the birdie again, but this time, it falls near the staff members. He laughs in embarrassment as he jogs over to pick it up, apologizing to the cameras.
DINO: "Hoshi, come on!"
Hoshi tries a third time and hits the birdie over the net. Sena walks forward and hits it back, then Hoshi swings and hits it high into the air. They both crane their necks before the little ball softly lands out of bounds.
SEUNGKWAN: "OUT! One point for Sena."
DINO: "Ah... this is going to be a long game."
Sena serves the ball next. The birdie sails smoothly over the net and Hoshi hits it back, but it lands close to the net on Sena's side, and she's too far away to hit it.
SEUNGKWAN: "One point for Hoshi. That's okay. Hoshi needs to learn to serve better..."
Seungkwan teasingly eyes Hoshi as the older member forces a smile and grips his racket tighter. The game is slow as Sena and Hoshi try their best at serving and hitting but they miss the mark several times. The members on the sidelines are starting to get bored and a bit sleepy as they eye each other with grins.
DINO: "Well..."
Joshua chuckles as he reaches below his chair for a water bottle.
SEUNGKWAN: (whispers) "These two seem athletic, right? They're the main dancers of the group. But... they're not very good at sports."
Dino frowns with a nod.
DINO: (whispers) "That's right. It'd be easy to assume that, but sometimes you can't judge a book by its cover."
SEUNGKWAN: "That's right. Kinda like you."
Joshua covers his mouth to chuckle, almost choking on his water.
DINO: "Aye! What do you mean?"
SEUNGKWAN: "What?"
DINO: "I'm not as bad as Hoshi. At least I can serve the ball over the net. Right, Joshua?"
JOSHUA: "Haha..."
DINO: "Why are you laughing?"
SEUNGKWAN: "Alright, we need some music or something. Staff-nim, is it alright if I...?"
Seungkwan takes his phone from his pocket and scurries to find a song on his playlist. He presses play and quickly stands to his feet as "Nobody" by Wonder Girls starts blasting from his phone speakers.
SEUNGKWAN: "Sena! This is for you! Fighting!"
He starts dancing along to the music as the lyrics ring through the air...
SEUNGKWAN: "I WANT NOBODY, NOBODY, BUT YOU! I WANT NOBODY, NOBODY, BUT YOU!"
Dino judges his member from his seat.
DINO: "What are you doing?"
SEUNGKWAN: "I'm cheering on Sena!!"
Sena and Hoshi stop what they're doing and giggle at Seungkwan's dancing.
SEUNGKWAN: "Come on, Dino. Help me be a cheerleader!"
Dino shakes his head. Joshua glances at Hoshi with amused concern.
JOSHUA: "Hoshi, I'm cheering for you, okay?"
HOSHI: "That's okay, hyung. I don't expect to win today anyway..." (smiles)
The two continue playing badminton and Sena gains more points, appearing to get energized from the music and performance. Seconds pass, and the energy is so addicting that even Dino jumps to his feet and starts dancing to the choreography. Then, Hoshi throws down his racket and joins the others in dance and song, shimmying his shoulders.
HOSHI: "I WANT NOBODY, NOBODY, BUT YOU!"
Joshua bursts out laughing as the three boys dramatically perform together. Feeling like a third wheel, Sena places her racket down too and does a cutesy cool version of the choreography from her spot, a huge smile on her face.
SENA: "I can't resist! I love Wonder Girls too much, haha!"
Hoshi laughs at Sena as they all join in dance until the very end of the song. As soon as the music stops, the four of them pose dramatically. Joshua laughs and claps at this younger members. Dino and Seungkwan lean back to back, their chests dramatically rising and falling as they catch their breath while staring into the cameras. Sena claps her hands, giggling as a blush forms on her cheeks.
SENA: "Wow... that was so fun. That was so random. Haha!"
JOSHUA: "Daebak..."
***
Minutes later, Sena wins the game. Seungkwan and Dino dramatically clap for her success as she smiles and walks toward Hoshi to give him a high-five.
SENA: "Good game."
HOSHI: "Good game. Ah..."
He wipes the sweat from his forehead.
DINO: (smiles) "Did our cheering pump you up, Sena?"
SENA: "Yes. Very much, haha."
She walks to the sidelines and grabs her water bottle.
HOSHI: "Even though I lost, it was fun!"
STAFF: Round 2 will begin next. Joshua versus Sena.
Sena's jaw drops as she looks at the staff.
SENA: "Agh, I forgot I have to play again."
JOSHUA: "It's okay. I'll go easy on you."
He replies with a smirk while standing to his feet.
HOSHI: "Now I can just enjoy and watch."
Hoshi takes a seat and sprawls out his limbs with a great big sigh.
***
Joshua and Sena's match was over in no time, with Joshua easily winning the round. Seungkwan had continued to play music from his phone to pump up the energy, and Dino and Hoshi acted as cheerleaders from their seats. It was chaotic and fun, and even the staff members were laughing.
Joshua walks up to Sena after the match and high-fives her. She fans herself with her hand as she clips her sunglasses on the front of her tank top.
SENA: "It's so hot. I don't mind losing..."
Joshua chuckles as she takes a seat next to Hoshi and downs some water. Hoshi glances a couple of times at her, looking like he wants to say something.
HOSHI: "It's starting to get warmer..."
He pulls at his t-shirt, using it to fan his abdomen. With a smile on his face, he glances Sena's way before asking...
HOSHI: "Do you need a hat? I brought one."
Sena looks around the ground for something then up at Hoshi. Her eyebrows raise with curiosity.
SENA: "Do you have one?"
HOSHI: (grins) "It's inside. I can go get it."
SENA: "Oh, thank you..."
Hoshi hops to his feet and walks towards the boys' dorm as the staff call for Joshua and Seungkwan to play their match.
***
Inside the living room, Hoshi is greeted by Vernon, Jeonghan, and Jun who are eating slices of watermelon. Hoshi's eyes widen as his mouth waters.
HOSHI: "Wah! Watermelon!"
JEONGHAN: "Hoshi! What are you doing? Is your game over?"
He shakes his head while walking toward them, eyeing the plates of watermelon.
HOSHI: "Not yet. It's so hot..."
JUN: "You want some watermelon?"
HOSHI: "Yes, please."
His face brightens as he falls to his knees near the coffee table. Jun grabs a slice and holds it to Hoshi's mouth. He opens wide and bites the watermelon before grabbing the sweet fruit by its green rine to hold for himself. Jeonghan and Jun chuckle at his cuteness.
HOSHI: "Mmm!!"
JEONGHAN: "How is badminton going?"
HOSHI: "Good. Where's everyone else?"
He looks around the empty kitchen and living room areas.
JEONGHAN: "The girls went to freshen up."
HOSHI: "Ah, I should go grab my hat so I don't forget."
Hoshi rises to his feet while finishing his watermelon, throwing the rine in the trash.
JUN: "Hoshi-ah, how many points did you make?" (chuckles)
HOSHI: "In badminton?"
JUN: "Yeah."
HOSHI: (embarrassed smile) "Not a lot... haha."
Jun laughs with the others.
JUN: "We were watching you play through the window..."
HOSHI: "Ah, really? I kept hitting it into the net."
Hoshi laughs while leaving the room. The cameras turn to Vernon with a manga book in his hand and a watermelon slice in the other. He's seriously reading the back cover. Jeonghan notices this.
JEONGHAN: "What's that?"
VERNON: "A book I found underneath a couch pillow. I don't whose it is."
JUN: "What's the title?"
VERNON: "[INSERT MANGA NAME]. I used to read this in middle school..."
***
Meanwhile, Joshua and Seungkwan are playing a strong game of badminton. They've reached 10 points each with no struggle whatsoever. Hoshi eventually brings Sena a sunhat, and she happily wears it.
SENA: (smiles) "Thanks, Hoshi."
HOSHI: "No problem."
DINO: "Let's go, Joshua hyung! Hit him where it hurts!!"
Sena and Hoshi giggle while glancing at Dino. Joshua plays very well, hitting the birdie with confidence across the net. Him and Seungkwan were practically pros at the game. In no time, Seungkwan made the winning shot and cheered loudly while doing a couple laps around the badminton net.
DINO: "Is it over?"
HOSHI: "Yes."
With fake amusement, Dino cheers for Seungkwan.
DINO: (to Seungkwan) "Wow. You're so cool, hyung! Now let's go inside!"
He smiles while glancing at the staff. The sun was beaming down on everyone, making it harder to focus.

2.6 TIME OUT
All three teams finish their games, providing great variety content for the editors. All the members go to their respective dorms to wash up then meet on the lawn at 2:00 in the afternoon, standing in their soccer, basketball, and badminton groups. The staff prepares to announce the winners of each game in an unofficial award ceremony.
STAFF: "Give yourselves a round of applause for your hard work during the games today."
Hoops and hollers ring through the air.
STAFF: "Now we're going to hand out medals that our staff created to the winning teams and members of each game, starting with the soccer team."
MINGYU: "Woo-hoo! Team Blue!"
Mingyu, S.Coups, and Wonwoo applaud while smiling next to a stoic-faced Woozi. Ruby side-eyes the boys while standing beside Cheng, The8, and DK.
STAFF: "The winning team of the soccer game was... the blue team! Stay in your places as a staff hands you your medals."
The Blue Team claps with smiles on their faces. A staff member wearing all black approaches them and hands them a gold medal with a 'Going Seventeen Soccer Champions' label attached to it. The members admire the medal in their hands and then place them around their necks.
STAFF: "We will also give a special medal to the most valuable player of this game. And all the staff members agree that it was Cheng, who showed good sportmanship towards all players and was a strong kicker."
The members look surprised but happy for Cheng who receives a special medal. Yin jumps up and down with excitement from the other side of the lawn as she watches a staff member place a MVP medal around her neck.
YIN: "Woo! Go, Cheng!"
The8 and DK applaud for their teammate with supportive smiles.
DK: "Way to go, Cheng!"
Cheng smiles while admiring her medal. She looks at Ruby who pats her arm while pressing her lips together.
RUBY: "That could've been me, but I admit I got a little competitive and showed some bitter sides of myself."
S.Coups overhears this and chuckles while rubbing his shin.
S.COUPS: "A little competitive? My leg still hurts from you kicking me!!"
Woozi and The8 smirk while glancing at S.Coups; Mingyu can't contain his laughter. Ruby puts a hand on her hip and scowls.
RUBY: "I told you I didn't kick you. Your leg was in my way!"
CHENG: (chuckles) "Ruby, chill..."
STAFF: "Next, the winning team of the basketball game was... the white team!"
Jeonghan claps his hands while standing next to Seoyoon and Kimi, who appear to be in a good mood. Their opponents, Yin, Jun, and Vernon, clap beside them as a staff member hands them their gold medals.
SEUNGKWAN: "Wow. That's not surprising. Jeonghan is a strong player."
As Jeonghan puts his medal around his neck, he takes a cocky step forward and waves to the cameras while bowing. Seoyoon raises an eyebrow and laughs at him.
JEONGHAN: "We couldn't have won without my lovely teammates and Seoyoon's beautiful assist with the winning shot."
While talking in a deep MC-like voice, he gestures towards Kimi and Seoyoon as they grin. Jun chuckles and mumbles to Vernon.
JUN: "It's no surprise who the MVP might be..."
STAFF: "...MVP goes to Yin, who racked up a lot of points for her team despite their defeat."
Everyone politely claps for the youngest member as she receives her MVP medal with a smile.
KIMI: "Good job, Yin-ie!"
STAFF: "Moving on to our last awards. The winner of the badminton game was Seungkwan."
Seungkwan steps out and spins around as he bows to everyone with a cocky smile.
DINO: "Tuh. Look at this guy... he gets a little fame and it goes to his head."
Joshua laughs at his member's comment as the staff places a medal around Seungkwan's neck.
SEUNGKWAN: "Thank you! Thank you! You all are so kind."
He throws kisses to the staff as they laugh.
STAFF: "And the MVP for the badminton game is... Joshua! Because he encouraged others and was a strong participant on the field."
Everyone claps for Joshua who shows a modest smile while the MVP medal is given to him. Hoshi smiles at his older member and touches the medal around his neck.
STAFF: "That is it for all our awards and our core filming for today. The rest of the day will be preparing for the dinner party later tonight. We will have small groups of you complete tasks to prepare for dinner, but think of the rest of the day as your time to relax. Thank you again!"
Everyone claps and mingles with each other before the camera transitions to the next scene.
***
To prepare for dinner, the Seventeen members decided on who would go grocery shopping for food, who would be in charge of cooking, who would buy gifts for the special gift exchange on the last day, and who would pick up a dessert order from a local bakery. The results of this decision are shown below:
A group was chosen to go grocery shopping for dinner = S.Coups + Dino + DK
A duo was chosen to cook = Mingyu + Joshua
A group was chosen to buy gifts for the gift exchange on the last day = Vernon + Kimi + Sena + Seungkwan
A duo was chosen to pick up the desserts from the bakery = Jeonghan + Seoyoon
The other members would stay at the dorms and help set the table and wash dishes as needed. Currently, everyone is in the boys' living and dining room area taking a rest before the next tasks. Mingyu and Joshua put on their aprons in the kitchen as they prepare to cook.
WOOZI: "Looks like almost all the soccer group is staying back."
RUBY: (with teasing confidence) "Since we carried the episode, we deserve to kick our feet up and rest."
MINGYU: "Ruby-ah, just because you're staying here doesn't give you an excuse to be lazy. Me and Joshua aren't gonna slave in the kitchen by ourselves, huh? You guys need to help us clean and set the tables, even prep the vegetables."
Sena chuckles and Ruby gets fake offended as she frowns, pointing towards Mingyu.
RUBY: "Hey! When am I ever lazy? I never said I wouldn't help, I just said we deserve a break."
SEUNGKWAN: (fake mad) "Yeah, Mingyu! Don't twist her words around!"
Mingyu clicks his tongue with a small grin and nods toward Seungkwan.
MINGYU: "You, just go! Go shopping or whatever you're doing."
Joshua, standing beside Mingyu in the kitchen, has been watching the banter back and forth with an amused smile.
SEUNGKWAN: "Don't tell me what to do. You just make sure you cook our dinner right and have it ready before we get back."
MINGYU: "I can't have it ready until the groceries get here!!"
SEUNGKWAN: "Ah, right..."
They chuckle as Seungkwan scratches his neck, puts his hand on his hip, and looks for Vernon in the crowded room.
SEUNGKWAN: "Vernon-ah, you ready? Let's go so we can come back."
VERNON: "Okay."
Vernon hops to his feet from the couch.
SEUNGKWAN: "Sena, Kimi..."
His expression changes to a pleasant smile while looking for the female members.
SEUNGKWAN: (smiles) "Ladies, are you ready to go?"
KIMI: "Yes~" (chuckles)
SENA: "Yes~"
The girls walk toward the door as the shopping group gets ready to leave. Vernon picks up the manga book he was reading earlier and glances around the room.
VERNON: "Oh, yeah. Did somebody miss their book?"
Kimi looks at the book he's holding, her face lighting up.
KIMI: "That's Cheng's book."
From her spot next to Ruby, Cheng looks up with curiosity.
CHENG: "Did someone say my name?"
VERNON: "Is this your book? It was left on the couch and I... I was reading some of it..."
He shyly smiles while pacing towards Cheng to hand her the book. Her face lights up as she nods. Minghao looks up and glances curiously at the encounter.
CHENG: "Oh, yeah. I was reading it earlier. I wondered where it went, haha."
VERNON: "No problem. I love that series, actually. I read it in middle school."
CHENG: "Really? I just got into it."
Wonwoo glances up from his cell phone and overhears their chat, also becoming curious about the topic. He moves in his chair to take a peep at the book they're talking about, and a grin forms on his lips.
WONWOO: "Is that [INSERT MANGA NAME]?"
VERNON: (grins) "Yeah."
WONWOO: "I read that as a kid."
CHENG: "I guess it's really popular..." (chuckles)
The guys join in with lighthearted laughter and agree. Seungkwan twirls the keys to the car on his finger, waiting patiently by the door.
SEUNGKWAN: "Vernon-ah!"
VERNON: "Ah, I'll see you guys later then."
They wave bye to Vernon as he joins the shopping group out on the lawn.
KIMI: "Who's driving?"
She asks as they walk to the parking lot. Vernon raises his hand, his facial expression back to its normal unphased state.
VERNON: "I can drive."
The camera follows the group into their small vehicle as Vernon gets in the driver's seat with Seungkwan in the passenger seat. Kimi sits behind Seungkwan in the back as Sena takes the seat behind Vernon.
SENA: "I'm starving..."
KIMI: "I know, right? That watermelon was good, but it wasn't enough."
Vernon puts on his seatbelt as he takes a glance in the rearview mirror.
VERNON: "We can get something to eat on our way to the mall."
KIMI: "Yes, please..."
Back inside the boys' dorm...
S.COUPS: "Dino-ah, you got everything on the list?"
DINO: "Yes. I wrote down everything we might need for a barbecue. Sirloin, rib eye, short ribs, extra rice and ramen, some kimbap as a snack--"
S.COUPS: "Anything else you guys want? Speak now or it's not happening."
The leader looks up from the handwritten list on the kitchen table and surveys the room. Hoshi raises his hand as his other scratches his head.
HOSHI: "Extra kimchi, please! You know the brand I like."
S.COUPS: "Kimchi?"
S.Coups scribbles this down on the grocery list as other members shout out other snacks that they might want. The Chinese members - Yin, Cheng, The8, and Jun - are chilling at one of the dining tables chatting with each other.
THE8: "I feel like something spicy..."
JUN: "Don't say malatang. You ate so much this week, haha."
THE8: (grins) "It was so good."
CHENG: "Do you like spicy food, Minghao?"
THE8: "I love it."
Cheng nods with friendly interest.
YIN: "Are you from north China?"
The8 perks up as he nods at Yin's question.
THE8: "Mhm. Haicheng."
Yin's face lights up with surprise.
YIN: "Ah, really? I'm from Beijing."
THE8: "Ooh. We're neighbors, haha."
He toys with the deck of cards in his hands while chuckling. Yin smiles.
YIN: "Wow. That's so cool. Most people from the north enjoy spicy food, that's why I asked."
JUN: "I like spicy food, too."
YIN: "I know, but you can't take the heat as much, right? I know that from watching Seventeen content."
JUN: "Oh~ that's right."
Jun looks surprised at Minghao, tapping his younger friend's arm with an impressed smile.
JUN: "Oh, she's a real fan!"
Yin humbly smiles and shrugs.
YIN: "I told you me and my mom adore you. I've watched all your movies when you were a child star and I've followed you since." (in Chinese) "This is real admiration."
JUN: "Me?" (shy chuckle)
YIN: "Duh!"
CHENG: (smirks) "I could show you her shelf of Jun's photos and magazine shoots if you don't believe her. And her screensaver is Jun. Show him!"
Cheng reaches for Yin's phone but she moves it to her lap with a deviant smile. Jun laughs while covering his mouth. Yin smiles at him with no regret.
JUN: "Wow... I don't know what to say."
S.COUPS: (yells) "Alright. We're going. Is that everything?"
He looks around the room, and then his thick eyebrows frown.
S.COUPS: "Where's Jeonghan-ah?"
Dino, DK, and Woozi glance around the living room but he's not in sight.
WOOZI: "I think he left with Seoyoon..."
S.Coups grinds his jaw at this information then stuffs the grocery list into his pocket.
S.COUPS: "Alright. Let's go."
MINGYU: "See you later, hyung!"

The cameras follow Jeonghan happily approaching the girls' dorm, a bounce in his step, and entering through the front door. While twirling the car keys in his hand, he steps inside the kitchen and glances around the empty space, enjoying the air conditioning blowing through his short brown hair.
JEONGHAN: "Seoyoon-ah? Are you ready?"
Seoyoon is washing her hands and fixing her hair in the bathroom as she hears his voice from the other room. Her jaw drops as she quickly dries her hands and meets him. She enters the main kitchen space and grins at Jeonghan who appears just as thrilled to see her.
JEONGHAN: "Are you ready?"
SEOYOON: "Yeah."
JEONGHAN: "I think the others left already."
He opens the front door as she follows behind him outside. They walk up the hill towards the parking lot while chatting. Seoyoon releases a sigh of relief, causing Jeonghan to glance at her with a small chuckle.
JEONGHAN: "You good?"
She smiles and chuckles in response.
SEOYOON: "Yeah. That game was so fun. I didn't expect it to be relaxing but it was."
JEONGHAN: "Ah, it was. I'm glad you had fun. This is what Going Seventeen is all about!"
Seoyoon laughs at his enthusiasm.
SEOYOON: "I see."
They reach the rental car and Jeonghan unlocks it with the keys.
SEOYOON: "Can I drive?"
Jeonghan stops in his tracks near the front of the car.
JEONGHAN: "Uh... can you?" (laughs)
SEOYOON: "I have my license. I'll drive. Since you worked hard at the game consider this a thank you."
Jeonghan chuckles and hands her the keys as she walks to the driver's side.
JEONGHAN: "Ah, is this my prize?"
They chuckle and get in the car. Seoyoon adjusts the wheel and mirrors, clicks her seatbelt, then checks the GPS. The staff put the location of the bakery in the device already so all she needed to do was follow the directions.
JEONGHAN: "It's only 20 minutes away. This should be an easy drive."
He puts on his seatbelt.
SEOYOON: "Yep."
She slowly pulls out of the parking lot, looking both ways, and heads towards the main road.
JEONGHAN: "Do you like driving?"
SEOYOON: "Mmm.. mhm. I think it's relaxing."
Jeonghan nods with a grin while glancing out the window at the passing river.
SEOYOON: "How about you? Are you a good driver?"
JEONGHAN: "Yup. I'm Seventeen's official taxi."
SEOYOON: "What? Haha."
He jokes a bit about the members wanting him to drive them places because he's so good. They continue to chat as Seoyoon follows the GPS, glancing at the screen every few seconds. Jeonghan notices this and chuckles. As she glances down, she almost runs a stop light and slams the breaks, causing a dramatic reaction from his side.
JEONGHAN: "Ah! What the heck?"
He complains while rubbing his neck and grimacing. She glances at him with worry.
SEOYOON: "Sorry!"
JEONGHAN: "Ah... are you sure you know how to drive? You threw my neck outta alignment. Agh..."
SEOYOON: "I was distracted by the GPS. I was looking at the route--"
JEONGHAN: "It's been the same for the last 5 minutes. It's just a straight route..." (chuckles)
SEOYOON: "I know, but I was double-checking. Are you okay?"
He chuckles as she appears seriously worried then points ahead as the light turns green.
JEONGHAN: "Green light. Pay attention."
As they drive, Jeonghan continues to tease her about her driving, nagging her about unnecessary things as her nerves rattle in response. Along the route, Seoyoon almost misses a turn and quickly jolts the wheel to the left just in time, causing Jeonghan to dramatically fling his body to the right against the car door with his hands in the air.
JEONGHAN: "WHOOAAA! SEOYOON-AH!"
Seoyoon chuckles at his antics while gripping the wheel through the turn.
SEOYOON: "Stop it! I'm not that bad."
JEONGHAN: "Good thing we haven't eaten dinner yet, or my stomach would be all over this car!"
Seoyoon slaps his knee, frowning as he teases her.
SEOYOON: "Stooopp!"
He bites his lip and laughs while rolling down the window, glancing down at the sidewalk. Suddenly, his playful expression changes to fake worry.
JEONGHAN: "Oh! You almost hit that cat!"
SEOYOON: "Where?"
She glances in her rearview mirror for any animals, a look of true concern on her face.
JEONGHAN: "You didn't see it?"
He shows an evil grin, and realizing she's been punk'd once again, Seoyoon glares at him with furrowed eyebrows.
SEOYOON: "Stop teasing me..."
He laughs all the way to the bakery.

Once they arrive, they park in the bakery's parking lot and get out of the car. Their eyes instantly set on the beach just down the hill from the shop, the ocean's waves crashing onto the sandy shore as the wind sends chills up their spines.
SEOYOON: "Wah... the ocean."
Jeonghan chuckles, his eyes sparkling as he looks at her.
JEONGHAN: "It's beautiful, right?"
She nods as she admires nature's wonders from up the hill. After a few more seconds of admiration, they enter the bakery. Jeonghan expertly talks with the bakery worker and asks about their pickup order. The worker explains the order will just take a few minutes until it's ready, so they decide to order two coffees while they wait. With their iced americanos in hand, they walk outside and find a nice green bench facing the breezy ocean while they wait.
