Meg's POV (BOOM DIDNT EXPECT THAT DID YA?!)

I was constantly switching out the fabric around Kayleigh's wound. The bullet went right through her leg. What the actual fuck! How in hell did she not bleed out already? Doc was trying to find supplies to help the infection. 10k and I decided to go on a quick run to find supplies. Kayleigh was conscious at this point so Doc and her accompanied us. Warren, Mack, Addie, and Murphy were going to stay with the truck on the road and look for supplies the other way. Blix didn't take any orders from Warren and wandered off alone. I wrapped my arm around Kayleigh's one side and 10k supported her other side. Doc walked up ahead through the forest. 

Kayleigh was hopping between us on her good leg, her bat in one hand. I looked over at 10k who barely showed any emotion. Kayleigh slowed down until we all stopped. Doc turned around and started walking back. "What's wrong?" Doc asked frantically, probably hoping she wasn't about to die. 

I leaned her against the tree and crouched beside her, checking the wound. I pulled off the blood soaked cloth tied around her calf. The bullet went clean through the muscle of her leg. It looked painful but she showed no emotion. She was like 10k, barely having feelings.

(Switch back to Kayleigh's POV now)

My leg hurt like hell. I felt like I was going to die. Doc didn't seem to know what he was doing, great. Meg was being more helpful than the doctor! The leaves crinkled under me as I tried to get up again. Meg held up a hand and signaled to 10k to follow her. They walked a little bit away and started whispering to each other. Eventually Doc was whispering with them. "Can you please not whisper about me like I'm gonna die?" I mumbled, scrabbling at the tree to get up. Meg turned around to face me. 

"Sorry, Kay. Just discussing plans for camp tonight." Meg helped me up and we continued walking. "10k is going to scout ahead-" Meg motioned forward for 10k to go ahead. "while we all follow his marks he leaves. Once he finds a good place we'll meet up again." I tripped over a tree root and barely got caught by Meg. 

"Thanks Meg. I'd be dead without you, honest to god." I gave her a small hug and continued to limp after the marks 10k made. He slashed a 10 in the trees or anything sticking from the ground.  After walking for about an hour or two we made it to a big clearing with a small overhang cliff. Meg placed me down under the cliff by the fire 10k made. The others set up the rest of camp while I got to rest. I had pretty much lost half my blood and was about to pass out again. 

I rubbed my head tiredly and curled into a ball by the fire. Meg came over to sit beside me and stroked my head like she was my mother. I curled into a tighter ball and let myself slowly slip into sleep. I was so tired I couldn't hear anything but the slight crackling of the fire as I fell asleep.
