Okay, so i got a request from the lovely @jennasaesthetic to do my headcanon on Yurio's family! Frankly I'm kind of excited because I have little ideas about all the families.

So first off, Yurio's family isn't mentioned like at all whatsoever except for his grandfather, Nikolai Plisetsky (Kolya). It's canon that he was very big part of Yuri's development in skating when he was little, and brought him to practices and competitions in place of his mother. Yuri unconditionally loves his grandfather, and looks up to him. His grandfather is his emotional support system, the one who brings out his inner child in a good way.

So I started to wonder why just his grandpa. His situation I thought would be more like Viktor, which produced two very different people from similar situations: the ruthless mean one and the outgoing, attention seeker (not in a bad way though).

"His mother and father don't support him" is what I thought initially.

But then it seemed a little different at the same time. His mother couldn't bring him anywhere, so maybe she does care and love him and treats him fine. It just seems like she had to work constantly, for some odd reason.

That could mean a few things:

His dad is kind of a deadbeat (which is really unlikely).

OR

His parents are separated and he lives with his mother, who works endlessly to support them. He doesn't know his father.

OR

His mom is still having to work constantly to support them, but because his father died when Yurio was young. That could explain his attachment to his grandfather and the way he looks up to him.
