I feel like Viktor comes from a very conservative, classical, religious family.

Like, homophobic, vaguely racists, and like push jesus on you kind of people. Misogynistic father type deal...You know, the works. I also feel like they might've disowned him to an extent or he's the black sheep of the family because he is openly gay and maybe that's why he threw himself into skating?

My "Evidence"/Reasoning:

• when did we ever see him with his family? there aren't any pictures of him with anyone except friends and makkachin
• why the hell were they not there to openly support their incredibly talented son? He's wealthy enough to travel, he could have brought them to him, or they could've showed up at the russian competition.
• he's really close with yakov when you step back and look back at it, and that could be like his father figure
• they're just never mentioned once really
