Chapter Nine: Lonely Winter

It was the last day of school before winter break started, this year will be a little different since my grandmother isn't here and I'll be spending Christmas alone. I wore my coat and headed outside, I walked to do bus stop and waited there. Once it arrived, I stepped inside and as usual I sat at the back row.

The bus arrived at a stop near my school, I stepped out the bus and walked to school the rest of the way. I arrived at school and walked through the noisy hallways, I saw my friend Iri getting her books from her locker. I walked up to her, and she gave me a warm smile.

"Hey Yunna, you look a little sad this morning, is something wrong?" she asked

"Oh nothing really, its just that its my first time spending Christmas without my grandma since she's traveling right now," I responded

"Well I wish you could celebrate with me, but my mom is taking us to New York to celebrate Christmas," she say

"It's ok, I'll be ok don't worry," I say

"All right, just call me if you feel lonely," she say

I gave her a nod and we walked to homeroom class together.

Class was over and Winter break started, I say goodbye to Iri since she'll be going to New York soon. I left school and walked to the bus stop, I waited there until the bus arrived. When it finally arrived, I stepped inside, paid, and took a seat.

Once I arrived home, I saw a box outside the door. I'm guessing that was the souvenirs my grandmother bought from Japan. I took the box innside and opened it there. I opened the box and it had all sorts of Japanese souvenirs, I saw an envelope at the very bottom of the box. I opened the envelope and read the letter.

It read:

Dear Yunna,

I know it feels different spending Christmas without me but I hope you stay positive and always be safe. I also hope you like those souvenirs I sent you, I just traveled to Japan recently and my next destination is Korea, I look forward to sending you more souvenirs. Merry Christmas and always know I love you even if I'm not there.

I started to smile a little, I went upstairs and into my bedroom. I changed into a more comfortable and casual clothing. I did my homework packet that was suppose to be done during Winter Break. When I finally finished my homework, I laid on my bed and went on my phone.

I saw a message sent by one of my friends Lunar.

It read:

Hey Yunna, Early Merry Christmas, I sent you a gift in Fantasy Online since I can't really give a gift in real life, any ways hope you have a Merry Christmas and also stay warm UwU

Her message also made me smile, after looking through her text I went on my computer to play my favorite video game, Dataheart, since theres a new update. I played it for a while until I started to get hungry. I went downstairs and made something to eat.

I really had nothing to do, it was starting to get colder due to cold weather and snow. I lighted up the fireplace and grabbed some blankets and pillow from my bedroom to the sofa in the living room. I also took some books to read, my laptop, and my phone since I know I'll be staying in there for quite a while due to the weather.

The past few weeks have been boring, cold, and most of all, Lonely.
