Yuto x Reader x Yugo [Painting AU]

A/N: I do not own the picture above. I just edited it because I can't a single picture with only Yuto and Yugo XD. If any of you are familiar with Ib, this one shot is pretty similar to it. I'm just going to change some things 'cause I don't want it to be too similar :D.

This is a Choose Your Ending story. Or you can imagine the ending yourself if you're unsatisfied with it :D

Enjoy! (^^)/

~~~~~~~~~~~
The school made a 1 day field trip for everyone in your school who chose to participate. No one wanted to go but a few were forced by their parents or persuaded by their friends, one of them including you.
As all the boys talked loudly on the bus, you were trying to hear music on your earphones but couldn't and the boys were really getting on your nerves as they started to ask everyone to do the manniquin challenge.
Just when you were about to start a fight, the bus halted in a stop. "Everyone, we have arrived at the Guertana Gallery," a teacher spoke through the bus speakers. Everyone got down the bus and decided to just get over with it quickly.
Everyone walked into the building and all the teachers said we could walk around  for an hour. No going outside or doing anything suspicious was the only rule. After that, the teachers walked out of the building with no intention of staying with them.
Mostly everyone gathered into groups with their friends but you didn't know anyone so you rolled your eyes and walked around the gallery yourself. "Why did I agree to this again?" You said under your breath as you remembered your mum bribing you with (favourite food).
You walked around the second floor that had a lot more paintings but what caught your eye was a large painting that covered an entire wall. The splash of colors and mash up of some other sculptures and paintings were in it. At the bottom of the frame were the words "Fabricated World."
"I wonder how long did it take to make such a big painting," you mumbled to yourself. It probably took several years just to make a painting this big.
Suddenly, the lights started to flickered on and off. 'Is there a power outage?' you thought. You to the front desk but no one was there! You tried to open the doors but it was locked. "Hellooooooooooooooooooo, anybody hereeeeeeeeeeee," you shouted, hoping to annoy someone until they would reply. Still nothing.
"Jeez, couldn't they make an announcement to evacuate everyone out here?" you muttered under your breath. You walked to the middle of the first floor and saw the painting on the floor. "Well, at least I have fish to accompany me," you said to nobody.
That's when you noticed the fishes were actually moving. 'It's just an optical illusion, right?' you said to yourself. Ignoring the warnings to not touch the painting, you touched it and the 'water' made ripples. Yes, a fake water making real ripples.
The velvet belt next to you was gone and was replaced by two blue shoe prints on the ground. It was pointing towards the painting and no one seemed to be in it. Just to test, you dropped a stone which was nearby and threw it inside.
1.........2.........3.............. there was no sound at all even after a minute. "Well, I already screwed up this much so why not?" you shrugged and jumped right inside the painting. At first you thought you thought you were just going to stand but you were actually sinking down. 'Oh god, what have I done?'
You closed your eyes, praying there was a bottom to this supposed bottomless pit. Ground met you feet and you opened your eyes. There was a flight of stairs going down. At the end was seemed to be a room with light source. You looked up and saw a water was just above you but it was not dropping on you. Not a single water drop was on you.
'Wow, my science teacher lied to me,' you joked. Running down the stairs, a blue room appeared around you. Walking to the left, there was a vase blocking a blue door. Inside of the vase was a red rose. Next to it was a card saying 'Take Me!'
"What am I, Alice?" you took the rose anyway. The table moved away on it's own.  'My teacher lied to me twice now,' you mumbled softly and opened the blue door. There was a smiling lady with long hair. What color was the hair? You guess.
On the ground was a blue key. You picked it up and the painting took a twisted turn. Her eyes opened showing snake like eyes and her mouth open and bend into a cheek to cheek smile. Her hair was coming out of the painting.
Wait, hair coming out of the painting?!
"Yep, I gone psycho," you sweat dropped and read the sign under the painting. It read: When the rose wilts, so too will you wilt away. Yup, perfectly normal.
You closed the door and walked down the hallway. There, you saw another door. Using the blue key you got, you opened it up and was greeted with a green room.
'This is going to go so wrong.' you sighed and stepped into the next 'level'.
~~~~~~~~

Locking the door shut, your heart was going to come out of your chest. Moving hands in the hall, crawling woman-paintings, this gallery was crazy! Breathing in paint filled air, you looked straight ahead and noticed a blue rose on the floor. It only had 1 petal left. By the wall was a vase.

You picked up the blue rose and looked inside of the vase. There was water, good. You learned early on water was good here, it could heal the rose and return it to full health. If the rose lost a petal, you began to feel excruciating pain.

The blue rose magically got all it's petals back. "Hmm, I wonder if I can keep this rose." you wondered. You brushed that thought side for a while and opened another door by the side of you and saw a man lying down on the ground.

"Are you ok, mister?! Mister?!" you tried to shake the man awake. "Ugh," the man groaned and lifted his head. His purple eyes looked straight into your eyes and took notice of the blue rose in your hand.

"Oh, that's my rose. Thanks for taking it back," the man said nonchalantly and took the rose out from your pocket. "Hey, you don't randomly take people's things out of their pockets, ok? Also, I have a name. It's (Y/N)," you stood up and crossed your arms.

The man sighed and took up as well. Judging from his face and build, he was around your age, probably older. "Ok, (Y/N). My name is Yuto," he brushed his shoulders and saw your red rose in another pocket. "So you have this as well?"

"Can't you see?" you scoffed. "Wow, you're as rude as Shun."

"I'll take that was an compliment."

"Really?"

"Didn't you hear what I said?"

"Well, miss cocky, any idea how to get out of here weird place as you have seen so far?" Yuto scoffed as well. "I have no idea," you shrugged. That's when you saw a door behind him being blocked by a statue that seemed too heavy for you to push.

"But I bet that door could lead us to somewhere," you pointed to it. Yuto turned around and sighed. "And you expect me to push it away?"

 "Isn't that what I'm asking?"

"(-_\)" Yuto sighed. He never met such a troublesome person like you. He however walked to the door and pushed the statue away with ease. "I hope you faint in the next room," he said loud enough for you to hear.

"Then you would have to carry me then," you replied sassily. "I rather leave you there," he scoffed. "Rude!" You punched him lightly in the arm and walked through the door. "You're sassy," he commented.

"Oh shut up."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You and Yuto were a good team. You both did quite a lot of challenges that needed to be done with 2 people so you considered yourself lucky to have a actually quite handsome person by your side.
Opening the next room, a flash of yellow and blue caught your eye. "Did you see that?" You whispered. Yuto nodded and put his head to the side, signalling that you and him should check it out.
When you saw it again, it was a boy with blue and yellow hair. It was walking around with a yellow rose in hand, staring at all of the paintings wishfully like he had a wish he wanted them to grant.
"He has a rose like us, should we say hi?" You whispered. The boy seemed no younger than 14 and being in a dangerous place like this alone is bad for everyone's sanity.
"Ok, but don't-"
"Who's out there?!" The boy suddenly exclaimed.
"Ah, m-my name's (Y/N). This guy's name is Yuto. What's yours?"' You came out of your hiding spot with hands above your head like it was a police show. "Put down your hands idiot," Yuto grabbed your arms and put them down.
The boy eyed you two carefully and said, "Yugo. What are you two doing here?"
"Are we not supposed to be here?" You questioned. "Then why are you here? Are you trying to escape from this gallery as well?" Yuto pointed at Yugo's yellow rose he grasped tightly.
"I supposed. But it's hard with only just me," he said sadly.
"Then why don't try to get out of here together?!" You suggested. "This place is a nightmare and you'll probably lose your sanity or die. So why not join us?"
"Really?!" Yugo's eyes sparkled. He ran to you and shook both of your hands quickly. "Thank you thank you thank you!!" He smiled.
"*cough cough*" Yuto coughed into his fist. "I'm still here you know?"
"O-Oh, sorry," Yugo rubbed his head sheepishly. His attitude suddenly turned 90 degrees and he was suddenly at the other side of the hall way. "Come on, guys! Let's go!" He yelled and waved.
Yuto sighed. "Great, another hyperactive kid," he muttered. "Well, you're probably no other than him so it's probably just because you're old," you joked.
 "Not funny," he flicked your forehead.  "Ouch," you pouted and held your forehead like how a child would.
"Come on you two! Let's go!" Yuto suddenly grasped your arm and pulled you along. "Oi! Wait!" You exclaimed as the hyper boy didn't stop at all. Yuto just shrugged and walked behind you two.
What you didn't notice was a sign you and Yugo past. Yuto stopped for a second and read it.
'Beware of the fakes. The reals can go but the fakes must stay to continue this show. Not when reality switchs with fiction can they leave.'
Yuto eyed it for a while before looking at the two of you trying to solve a milk puzzle to get to the next room. The way Yugo moved and talked caught Yuto's eye when he first saw him.
"Something's not right........... but what?"
~~~~~~~~~~~

"Ya! We finally reached the painting!" You exclaimed. You three finally reached the supposed painting that would lead you three out of here. It was the 'fabricated painting' that you saw before all this monstrosity happened.

"Lady's first," Yugo bowed like a gentleman. "Idiot," you giggled and stepped inside the painting.

Just as Yuto was about to go in, Yugo pulled him back. He stared at Yuto with cold dark eyes, unlike the eyes you were used to when you were just messing around.

"I'm sorry Yuto but I want to go out first," he gave an oh-so-fake smile.

Yuto frowned. He took out Yugo's yellow rose from his pocket and asked, "Can I borrow this for a while?" Yugo shrugged and said, "Sure. What do you want to do-"

Yuto pulled out all of the yellow petals on the rose. You widened your eyes as the petals slowly fell on the floor. "What the hell were you thinking, Yuto?! Yugo's going to die now!" You stepped out of the painting and grabbed the petal-less rose stem. "Is there a vase with water anywhere?!"

"Relax, (Y/N). It's not what it seems," that sentence just made your blood boil." You just killed a person, Yuto! How is this not ok! We were supposed to get out together!"

"Look, (Y/N). Is he fainting right now?" Yuto pointed at Yugo who was still standing up with no bruises at all. He was shaking profusely.

That's when you remembered. When 4 petals had been ripped out from your rose, you instantly collapsed. But it's been a while now and Yugo still hasn't fainted or died yet.

"So that means............. it's a fake?" You stared dumbfounded. Yugo was looking down with a dark look on his face. Suddenly, Yugo had pushed Yuto to a wall and had a painting knife by his neck.

"So you knew and didn't wait until this point to reveal, didn't you?" He said darkly.

"I needed to confirm it. You didn't know anything about modern technology nor trends. The way you talk was quite old and not many talk like that anymore. Plus, I ripped out a petal when you were sleeping but you didn't feel any pain, did you?" Yuto pointed out.

"He still can come with us, painting or not, right?!" You exclaimed.

"I can't," Yugo gritted his teeth. "I need to switch existence with someone from the real world. And for that, he must stay."

"What happens to the one who stays in here?!"

"They become a painting and their existence will be completely forgotten. It will be replaced by the painting and he will become that existence," Yugo held the knife even dangerously closer to his neck.

You looked down at the sliver knife you picked up along the way. You could use it to distract a Yugo and escape with Yuto or you could just escape with Yugo and leave Yuto here.

"So, who will it be?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yuto's ending
You used the knife and stabbed into Yugo's hand quite deeply. (I'm so sorry people ;-;) Yugo screeched in pain and dropped the knife. He's other hand grasped onto the pain and hissed in pain.
Stunned from what you just done, you froze. Yuto grasped onto your shirt and pulled you into the painting. "Oi, snap out of it!" He screamed and you woke up from you're dazed state.
"Wait! Don't leave me here please!" Yugo banged against the invisible wall that he couldn't go through. "I thought we were friends, (Y/N)! Why did you do this to me?!" He stared at you with eyes that made you feel guilt.
Yuto tapped on your shoulder and you turned to him. "It's all right. I can step out of here so he can go in," he said with a slight sad grin. He knew you would rather choose Yugo over him as much as it saddened him.
You shook your head and looked at Yugo. "I though that I could trust you. If you had told earlier, I might have considered." You stared at him with sad eyes. His heart twisted in guilt. "(Y/N)..........."
"Also, I think I like him," you whispered for only Yugo to hear. Yugo widened his eyes but nodded.  "I understand. Just please don't forgot me," he sent you a smile, a last gift between you and him. "I won't," you smiled as well.
The wall became more blurry and a bright light was slowly appearing. You closed you eyes and covered it with your arms.
When you opened your eyes again, Yuto was right next to you, also covering his eyes. You noticed that there was something....... warm on your hand. You looked down and noticed that you two were holding hands.
You retreated your hand, completely flustered. Yuto seemed to notice the lost of warm and saw you blushing.
"What's wrong? Do you have a fever or something?" He asked. "N-no," you shuttered.
"Wait, do you remember?" You asked in case. "Huh, remember what?" He asked. A cold feeling came over you.
Just when you were going to ask, he laughed a little. "I'm just kidding. I could never forgot what happened then," he said.
"Idiot! You scared me! I thought you really forgotten everything we've been through!" You hit him on the arm but there was no force.
"Yo, Yuto! You hanging out with a girl now?!" A male exclaimed. You recognized him as your classmate. Wait, your classmate?!
"Eh, you know (Y/N)?! When did you two meet?" Pinning down your analysis, you looked shocked. "We just met," Yuto lied. "I'm surprised you two didn't know you two were in the same class for a whole year!" Your classmate which made you faceplammed.
"Well, now we know now," Yuto shrugged.
After Yuto and your classmate (or both of yours?) exchange some words, you stared at him dumbfounded. "You're the stupid for not realizing, idiot," he said.
"Oh shut up. You never had a high presence in class," you hit him again. "Ok ok," he said. The both of you blinked before laughing. It was weird how a nightmare gallery could find you a new friend. Maybe even something  more...........
"Welcome to my world that's painted in ashes. There's no light of sun, there's you can't hear any sound at all," Yugo sang wistfully, staring at the same line of paintings where he met you and Yuto.
"Here I'm waiting silently for you father," he bitterly thought of Guertana, his 'father'. "Oh why were you so cruel to leave me all alone?"
He touched each painting by the frame carefully. "Please take me away I desperately promise to be a good boy, to be worthy of your love." He wished hard in his heart. "I don't need the paint books, the dolls or the money. Just tell me why you left your pictures and gone?"
When he reached at the supposed end of the paintings, there was a new painting at the end. What it showed was a familiar boy and girl sitting on a bench smiling. The girl had her headband on his shoulder and they were holding hands.
Yugo smiled a sad smile. The sense of guilt you gave him lingered to this day; yet he wasn't all sad. More like disappointed, but he respected your choice. He looked down onto his palm. The stab mark was still there but not as noticeable after he painted on himself. He couldn't bring himself to hate you even after you did this to him.
"I hope your happiness lasts forever," he said. He cluchted onto hope that someone, just someone would come into this world again and he could switch with them and maybe, just maybe, meet you again.
He looked at the corridor, hoping that he would see someone but all he saw was another's headless mannequin. He frowned slightly but quickly smiled again. "Don't worry, I'm sure someone would come soon," he reassured himself.
The memories of you, Yuto and him exploring this place rushed through him, making pin down his resolution for when the next person comes.
"Ah, as for these memories. Ah, they'll always stay with me. Etched within my heart's canvas, forever they'll stay."
{JEEZ THIS WAS LONG}
[Yugo's ending]
"Yugo," you shakily said. "I'll come with you, just don't hurt Yuto. He is your friend as well, right?"
You took walked to Yugo slowly and carefully put down the knife he was holding. "It's ok, don't worry. We'll get out, together," you empathize the 'together'. Yugo looked at you like a kid who's ice cream dropped. "Really?"
"Really," you smiled. At the corner of your eyes, you saw Yuto mumbling to himself while covering his neck. It now had an ugly red hand printed on it, showing discomfort as he applied pressure on it.
Feeling guilty, you turned to Yuto. "I'm sorry. It's just that...." the words got stuck at your trout. You couldn't make an actual reason why you wanted to sacrifice the person you knew longer, an actual human being over a painting. It just felt......... right.
"I understand," Yuto gave a sad grin that didn't make you feel any less guiltier.
"Come on (Y/N)! Don't you want to return back faster?!" Yugo exclaimed. He was already inside of the painting. "I'll meet you there up again when I see the chance," Yuto placed out his hand. "I hope I do," you smiled and shook hands, bidding each other a last goodbye.
You jumped into the painting. As soon as you jumped in, bubbles started to form around you and Yugo. "I'm sorry if I forced that decision on you, (Y/N). I'm sorry for being selfish," Yugo rubbed his head sheepishly.
"It's ok, Yugo," you smiled. "Being trapped in this world for such a long time must have been very torturing. Don't blame yourself."
Before the two of you could exchange anymore words, a bright blinding light was in front of you. You covered your eyes with your arms and looked away.
When the lights dimmed, you uncrossed your arms. The familiar white wall that seemed to suck all happiness out never made you happier before. You turned to your side and saw a very confused and dumb-struck Yugo. His eyes could have rivaled an owl's.
"Yo, Yugo. Are you still alive?" you shook him lightly on the shoulder and he looked at you with confusion. It quickly cleared away, slowly turning into happiness.
"I'm here. I'm finally here!!" Yugo leaped for joy and screamed 'Yahoo' so loudly everybody looked your way, wondering what was going on between the two of you.
"Yugo! You shouldn't say things so loud!" You scolded. Maybe it was habit from staying in a world that there were no people at all? Who knows.
"Ah, sorry, (Y/N). I just got so excited." Yugo smiled. You sighed and held your temple. This guy was so much more frustrating than when you and Yuto were bickering. Why did you choose him again.
"Come on (Y/N)! I want to try some of those human food and sweets you and Yuto kept talking about!" Yugo exclaimed and dragged you by the arm outside. "Oi, Yugo! You don't even know where you're going!" Your words fell on deaf ears.
You sighed yet smiled. "I'll just have to get use to this, don't I?" you muttered. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad?
As the new <king> is in a deep sleep, blue roses continue to surround him. In his hair by his left ear was a blue rose- the original blue rose, the one that was supposed to keep him alive in <that world>.
In a corner covered by shadows, a male silhouette smiled. He walks up to the male and touched the blue rose in his ear.
"Soon, my new <king>. We will bring the traitor and girl back here to bring you back to that world," the boy smiled more cruelly and turned away to walk away. Purple rose petals leave in his wake with every step, each bearing a liquid poison dripping down.
Behind the <king> stood a painting, the same painting of him sleeping. By his side was a painting of a girl and a boy, smiling at each other. It didn't seem to fit the feeling in the air at all, yet, it was there.
"Don't worry, they'll be here soon," the boy made a evil chuckled before leaving the room properly.
