Zane's p.o.v.

Zane was lying on his bed and he was thinking. He had been up all night. He couldn't sleep. The exams week was over. It was close at summer vacation. He only had a couple more days with Tara, Jaden and his friends. It had bin a interesting year this time. All the event with the shadow riders, the duel with Jaden, His relationship with Syrus, and his beloved girlfriend Tara. Zane sighed. That was not the only problem on his mind! Last day Zane found out that he was the best in the whole school again. He had the best grades of all the students. Therefore Zane was selected to participate in the last big school duel. And as the rules stated, Zane could choose his opponent. Zane sighed. He had already someone in mind. He sighed again. Now he only had one problem left. Zane looked at the window. He could see that the sun was about to rise and smiled. He knew that she would be here any minute now. He smiled, when he could hear her footsteps on the balcony now. Then he heard her knocking on the window. Zane got up from the bed and walked over to Tara, who was standing on the other side of the balcony. She was smiling at him. Tara had decided to visit him every time close at sunrise until vacation. She said that since he was about to graduate, they needed to spent some time together. Zane didn't have anything against that. He opened the balcony door and Tara walked in.

"Zane!" she said and hugged him "Did you miss me!". Zane grinned. He loved her humor and sweet personality.

"Of course I have!" He said. Tara smiled. They both walked over to Zane's bed and laid down. Tara was lying with her head on his legs. She was looking up at him. Zane smiled. Sometimes she even fallen asleep, before they should attend class.

"So um Zane I hear you are the best student of the campus this year!" She said and smiled "And that you shall participate in the school duel! Have you found a opponent yet!". Zane smiled and cuddled a little with her hair.

"Actually I have!" He said and smiled. Tara grinned.

"So who is it!" She asked. Zane grinned.

"Well it's a boy and he is a idiot sometimes!" Zane said. He could hear Tara grin.

"I knew it!" She said and grabbed his hand. "Jaden is going to be so thrilled!". Zane smiled. However now his third problem was emerging in his head now. He looked at Tara. The most beautiful girlfriend he ever could wish for. He sighed.

"What's wrong!" Asked Tara worried. She noticed, thought Zane and sighed again.

"Tara may I ask you something!" He said in a serious tone. Tara looked puzzled.

"Sure, you can ask anything!" She said and smiled "You know that!". Zane smiled.

"Tara, when I go pro! I was wondering..!" Began Zane and looked at her "Do you want to come with me!". Tara looked surprised at him. She sat up and looked at him. Then she smiled, and kissed him. Zane got a little surprised, but a little bit after, he kissed her back. Tara was the first to pull back.

"I am happy that you are asking me Zane, I am really! But I also think you know my answer to that question!" Tara said and smiled "I want to finish school, and second I can't leave Jaden! You understand right!". Zane smiled and sighed.

"I knew you say that!" Zane said and hugged her "But I had to ask! But um Tara then I have a question to ask you again!". Tara smiled.

"What is it?!" She asked. Zane smiled and leaned towards her ear.

"Well you see...!" He began tell her.

Jaden's p.o.v.

Jaden and Syrus were hanging out in the slifer dorm. It was almost time for class. Suddenly someone was knocking on the door. Jaden opened.

"Ahrr!" screamed Syrus shocked "Big brother, Tara! What are you doing here!".

"Um Sy! Stop screaming!" said Jaden. He had covered his ears. He let them both in.

"Oh sorry Jay!" said Syrus "But Zane scared me!". Jaden grin.

"He always scars you!" said Tara and smiled. Jaden looked at his sister. Something was off with her today. Jaden looked at Zane. He was wandering around.

"I have been here in three years and I actually never seen this dorm from the inside!" Zane said and smiled. He looked at Tara for a moment, then at Jaden.

"Um so what do you want!" said Jaden confused. Syrus also looked at them.

"I want to duel you Jaden!" Zane said out strait. Syrus and Jaden did a anime falldown. Jaden could hear Tara laugh at them.

"Wait duel me!" Jaden said confused. Syrus also looked stunned. Zane nodded.

"Yeah at the graduation duel for the school!" I have selected you Jaden!". Jaden looked surprised, then he smiled. He looked like a boy who got a christmas present early. Syrus facepalmed. Tara smiled back.

"Wauh for real!" He said. Zane nodded. He began walking out of the dorm.

"Are you coming Tara!" He asked. Tara nodded. Jaden looked at the two of them. They both looked distant. Jaden wondered if they had a fight or something.

"Tara is something wrong!" Jaden asked before she walked out of the dorm. Tara froze for a moment. Then she was smiling awkwardly back at him.

"No, No Jaden!" She said really fast "Nothing wrong here! Zane wait for me!". She rushed out of the door, and left a really puzzled Jaden. Jaden shrugged. If she needed to talk to him, she would have done it by now.

"Sweet!" screamed Jaden "I have a duel!". Syrus sighed.

"Jaden, it is not just a duel!" Syrus said "Your dueling my brother in front of the whole school. You have to win, our you never be the king of the game. Zane never lost, He lost to camula, but he wanted to protect Tara, so that doesn't could! He is the best!". Jaden looked at Syrus. He looked really concerned. Jaden smiled.

"Hey chill Sy!" He said "I am ready to get my game on!". Syrus sighed.

Tara's p.o.v.

Tara was standing together with Alexis, Bastion and Chazz. They were discussing the duel. However Tara didn't listen. She was a little worried. That question Zane asked her, was still haunting her mind. She didn't know if she should tell someone or not.

"Earth to Tara!" said someone suddenly "Are you listening?!". Tara was lost in her thoughts, and hadn't listened at all. Alexis and Bastion looked a little worried at her.

"Hey you were totally absent!" Bastion said "It is not like you!".

"Something wrong!" Alexis asked. "I thought you would be first to discuss this! It is your boyfriend and brother who is dueling!". Tara sighed, but smiled a little bit after.

"There is nothing wrong! However I believe Jaden will win!" She said. They could hear Chazz snort in the background. He wasn't happy.

"I was the one who should be in that duel!" He said angry "Not that stupid idiot til Jaden!". Tara laughed at him. Chazz was sending her a evil eyes.

"In your dreams Chazz!" Tara said and laughed a little more "Zane would never pick you!". Chazz sneered and looked angry at her.

"Why you!" Chazz said and began chasing Tara around the campus. However Atticus jumped out of a tree and stopped them.

"Now, Now!" He said and grinned "We don't have time for this!". Then Atticus looked at Tara. Tara was sure he was studying her.

"I am a little surprised that you are cheering for Jaden in this duel!" He said confused "I thought you would cheer for your boyfriend!". Tara sighed.

"Well I can't not in that duel!" Tara said. The others looked confused at her. Tara sighed again. She had to tell them. She looked around.

"You must promise me never to tell Jaden this!" Tara said. The others nodded, and Tara continued. "Well you see, me and Zane made a bet..!".

Jaden's p.o.v.

Jaden was sitting on a cliff and was looking at the ocean. It was in the middle of the night and he couldn't sleep. He was a little worried about the duel tomorrow. Jaden let out a sigh, and looked at the sky and ocean again. Maybe Syrus was right! Maybe he couldn't win over Zane! Maybe he really would stay in his shadow forever, if he didn't win. Jaden sighed again. Suddenly he could hear footsteps behind him. Jaden turned around and saw Zane standing behind him. He smiled his calm smile.

"So are you ready for tomorrow!" He asked. Jaden nodded. Zane smiled again.

"A lot is riding on this match!" He told Jaden "I hope you are gonna duel your best!".

"I always am!" Jaden said confused. Something was not right here. Zane smiled again. He turned around and began walking away, however Jaden did hear his last sentence.

"Then there is nothing to worry about!" He said and disappeared. Jaden looked confused at him. He got up on his feets. He needed sleep before the big match tomorrow.

Tara's p.o.v.

Tara was waiting in the duel arena together with her friends. They had taken some seats away from everyone so that Tara also could see the duel. Jaden and Zane walked inside the stadium. They were standing on the field, and were shuffling the cards. They also were shaking hands.

"May the best duelist win!" Jaden said. Zane smiled.

"Likewise!" He said. They activated their duel disk. Tara clenched her fist and looked really worried. She was really hoping, that Jaden won the duel. Crowler introduced the duelists and the duel began.

Jaden: 4000Lp.

Zane: 4000Lp.

Jaden had the honor to chose who had the first move, and to everyones chok, Jaden let Zane have the first move. He really had made his homework this time. Tara looked surprised now. Jaden was really different in this duel. However Zane started the duel. He fused his three "Cyber dragons" and summoned "Cyber end dragon" to the field. He then played the spell "Different dimension Capsule". He took a card from his deck and placed it inside there. Then when three rounds has passed, Zane could add the card to his hand. Zane ended his turn, by tossing down a facedown. It was Jaden's turn now. Tara looked at him. Jaden was totally out of it. Something was dead wrong here. Jaden drew and summoned "Wildheart" to the field. He then played the spell "Wild Half" and cut Cyber end dragon att in half. Zane also got a copy on the field with the same att points. Jaden then equipped the spell card "Cyclone Boomerang" to Wildheart. He got 500 more att. They now had the same points. Jaden attacked the real Cyber end dragon. However Zane was ready for him. He used his "De-fusion" spell card and got his three "Cyber dragons" to the field. However Jaden attacked the copy instead. Both monster got destroyed. However since Wildheart was equipped with "Cyclone Boomerang", he could destroy every spell and trap card on the field. Zane's capsule also got destroyed. Zane took 500 points of damage. Jaden had apparently thought it was "Power bond" inside. However Zane surprised him. It was the spell "Card from a different dimension". Jaden placed a facedown and ended his turn. He told everyone that he was using his head in this duel. Tara facepalmed. It was not really the time to study. Tara's friends all looked worried at her.

"You okay Tara?!" asked Alexis worried "Your brother is not playing as himself!".

"Yeah and I don't think Zane will go easy on him either!" said Bastion worried. Tara clenched her fist. That moron! He should play with his heart, not his brain.

Zane drew and used the spell removed from play, to draw two more cards. Jaden could do the same thing. Then Zane attacked with his three dragons. Jaden revealed his facedown card "Draining shield" and got 2100 lp's. However Zane still had two dragons out. He attacked Jaden two times in a row. Jaden now had 1900 lp's left. Zane then placed a facedown and ended his turn. Tara sighed. Jaden was up. He drew and played the spell "The warrior returning alive". He got Wildheart back in his hand. Then he fusion summoned "Wildedge" to the field. Because of it's eff, Jaden could now attack every monster on the field. He destroyed all Zane's dragons. Zane smirked.

"You are a fool Jaden!" Zane said and sighed. He activated his facedown card "Return souls!". With it he could bring back all monsters who was destroyed this turn and add them to his deck again. Zane shuffled his cards. Tara could see that he was looking at her for a moment, before he then looked at Jaden.

"What a shame!" Zane said "I picked Jaden Yuki as my opponent! Wonder where he is?". Jaden looked confused at Zane.

"What do you mean?!" Jaden asked. Tara were almost about to scream to Jaden, but knew she couldn't intervene. Zane looked at Jaden.

"You are not being yourself!" He said and sighed "You are not playing with your heart like you used to do!". Jaden sneered.

"That's right!" He said "Because I need to use my head, to beat you!". Zane sighed.

"You are wasting my time here!" Zane said "Didn't I tell you that there were more on the line here, that you know!". Jaden looked confused at him.

"Fine then!" Zane said. He was looking at Tara for a moment again "You can take the blame later then!". Zane activated his "future fusion" spell card. He fused his three "Cyber dragons" from his deck, and summoned "Cyber end dragon" to the field again. However since it was summoned by "Future fusion" it couldn't attack in this round. Tara looked at Jaden. He didn't look very pleased that the dragon was back. Jaden drew and he only placed three facedowns on the field. Zane looked at him.

"Still using your head I see!" Zane said and sighed "You can't win this way Jaden!".

Tara clenched her fist again. Zane was at least trying to bring the old Jaden back. However Jaden didn't want to listen to Zane. Zane sneered. He had no choice now. He continued the duel. He used "de-fusion" and got three cyber dragons back. He then used "Power bond" and fused them again to create "Cyber end dragon" one more time, and since he used power bond, his dragons att was doubled. Tara didn't know what to do! Zane looked at Jaden.

"You think you can stop my dragon Jaden!" He said. Tara looked at Jaden. He looked scared. Tara sighed. She looked at her friends.

"Jaden needs me!" she said. The others nodded. Tara began walking down at the duel field. Zane's dragon was about to attack. Tara was running now.

"Zane! Don't attack!" She scream. Zane looked at her with a sad smile.

"Tara! I can't!" He said "I am sorry!". Tara rushed over to Jaden.

"Jaden your idiot!" She scream "Stop playing with your head. Play with your heart! Like you always do!". Jaden looked at her and was really confused. Tara was having tears in her eyes now.

"Jaden! If you lose this duel, Zane will break up with me!" She scream.

"What!" screamed Jaden. However Zane attacked with his dragon now. Jaden activated his trap "Soul union". It took "Bladedge" att from the grave and added it to Jaden's monster on the field. However it was still not enough. Zane's dragon attacked and created a lot of dust. Tara covered her eyes. She couldn't look. However when the smoke cleared, Jaden was still standing. He still had 100 lp's. Tara and Zane looked both surprised. Apparently Jaden had used "Emergency provisions" spell card just in time. By removing "Soul union" trap card from the field, he gained 1000 lp's extra. However Jaden was looking at Zane now. He revealed his trap "Hero signal" and got "Bubbleman" to the field in def mode. Jaden looked at Tara now. She was still crying.

"Tara is that really true!" He asked. Tara nodded. Jaden looked at Zane.

"What gives!" He said really angry "Why are you breaking up with her!".

"I haven't done that yet!" Zane said and smirked "But if you lost I would have, Yes!".

"But why!" Jaden scream "Don't you love Tara anymore!". Zane sneered.

"Of course I do!" He said a little angry "I love her more than anything in this world. But I have to do that! I am gonna go pro soon, and I can't have that she is waiting for me forever until I come back again!". Tara looked at Zane and Jaden. She couldn't stop crying now, that she had begun. She was sending Jaden puppy eyes.

"Then why in the world got this duel and me dragged into this!" Jaden asked confused. "And why didn't you tell me!". Tara and Zane looked at each other.

"Well since we are at the topic!" Zane said and sighed "Maybe I have to tell you!".

Flashback.

"Well you see..!" began Zane and whispered into Tara's ears "I have to break up with you then!". Tara looked stunned. She couldn't believe what she heard. She looked at Zane again. He was sending her one of her sad smiles. Tara grabbed his arm.

"Why! Why Zane! Did I do something wrong!" Tara asked. She panicked. Zane smiled and grabbed her hand, to make her relax just a bit.

"No of course not! You didn't do anything wrong!" Zane said and sighed. "I would never break up with you, if I saw another way! Tara listen! I am going pro, for who knows how long! I can't ask you to wait for me forever! Until I return!". Tara looked at him in horror.

"No Zane!" She said "I don't want to break up! I love you too much! I can wait! I really can!". Zane looked at her with a sad smile. He hugged her.

"Tara you don't know what you are talking about!" Zane said and smiled. "You don't know how long I will be gone! Maybe it will be years!".

"But maybe it also would be month!" Tara said and kissed him "Zane, please don't break up with me!". Zane looked at her and sighed.

"Okay let's make a bet then! I am gonna duel your brother! If he wins, I will not break up! If I win we will have to break up!". He said and looked at her. "You do believe in your brother right!". Tara nodded. She hugged Zane again.

"However I don't think we shall tell Jaden, then he will not play like himself or give his all!" said Tara and sighed. Zane kissed her.

"I understand!" He said.

Jaden's p.o.v.

"And well that!" Zane said. Jaden looked from Zane til Tara. He sighed.

"You two are idiots!" Jaden said. "Zane don't you get it! She will never leave you! But if I am fighting for my sister sake, then...!". Suddenly was Jaden's stomach growling. Tara was grinning. Jaden was sitting on his spot on the duel field.

"Um I think my heart! Or stomach needs food!" screamed Jaden "Hey Dorothea are you around!". His sister was still grinning, but tears was still falling. Jaden sighed. He really needed to get something to eat fast. He had to win for her sake! Dorothea and her assistants Sadie had arrived and gave Jaden a lot of food. He was eating around 15 plates. Zane was waiting patiently on him. He was smiling! Jaden got up on his feets and was smiling. He looked at his sister.

"Tara I will do my best!" He said "He is not gonna break up with you on my watch!". Jaden could see that she was nodding and trying to dry her eyes. The duel continued. Zane continued his move. He summoned "Cyber kiran". If Zane sacrificed the monster, it eff activated. He couldn't get any damage this turn, and that also canceled the power bond eff. He ended his turn. Jaden's turn. He grinned. He played the card "Pot of greed" and got two more cards. Then he summoned "Avian" in def mode. He then played the spell "Spy hero". It could be activated by discarding two cards from his hand. He could then steal one of Zane's spell cards, and Jaden chose "Future fusion". He got "Rampart blaster" in def mode on the field. Jaden placed two facedowns and ended his turn. Zane's turn. He summoned "Cyber phoenix" in att mode. This monster could prevent all eff from trap or spells, as long as that monster is on the field. Zane then attacked Jaden's Rampart blaster. However Jaden was ready for him. He activated "De-fusion" spell card and defused Rampart blaster. He now had "Burstinatrix" and "Clayman" on the field. Zane's monster lost it's target and couldn't attack in this round. Jaden then activated a trap called "Elemental burst". By sacrificing a earth, water, wind and fire monster from the field, Jaden could now destroy every monster on Zane's field. However it was still Zane's turn, and since Cyber phoenix is destroyed, Zane could now take a card from his deck and place it in his hand. The card he chose, was the spell "Time fusion", and of course Zane played it. By removing a card from his hand out of the game, Zane could summon a fusion monster next turn, without any sacrifice. It was Jaden's turn. He drew and placed down a facedown. Zane was not impressed, but now it was his turn. The card Zane removed from his hand was again " Card from a different dimension" and it came back to Zane's hand. Zane and Jaden could both draw two more cards again. With Time fusion, Zane summoned "Cyber end dragon" to the field again. However because of time fusion, it couldn't attack in the same round it was summoned. Zane placed down a facedown and ended his turn. It was Jaden's turn again. He drew and used the spell "Fusion recovery". He got a Burstinatrix and Polymerization back from the grave. Then he summoned Burstinatrix, and used "Miracle fusion" spell card. He summoned "Flame wingman" to the field. Jaden grinned and looked at his sister.

"I summon with Polymerization, The monster I got from Tara!" Jaden said "Come out Shining flame wingman". The monster appeared on the field. It eff activated. For every hero in the grave, Shining flame wingman gained 300 att. It now had 4900 att. Jaden attacked Zane's dragon and it got destroyed. Jaden's monster eff kicks in, however Zane activated a trap called "Damage Polarizer". All eff damage becomes zero in this turn. They could also draw one card each. Jaden placed a card face down. It was now Zane's turn again. He activated "Power bond" again, and together with another spell card called "Cybernetic fusion support", and by trading half of his lp's, Zane could now summon back his "Cyber end dragon". Because of power bond, Zane's dragon att was doubled (8000 att). However Zane was not done yet. He also used the spell "Limiter removal" and doubled his dragons att even more. (16000 att). However Jaden was ready for that, he used the spell "Battle fusion" and his monster gained the same among of att as Zane's dragon + a little more. It now had 20900 att. however Zane was also ready for that move. He also had a "Battle Fusion" card. His monster had now 36900 att. Zane was smiling at Jaden now.

"Wow Zane you are really good!" Jaden said and smiled. Zane smiled back.

"You too Jaden!" Zane said "That's why I chose you as my opponent! When I am gone, you will have to take care of Tara for me!". Jaden looked confused at him.

"When I am gone, you are the best duelist on the school!" Zane said and smiled "Not because of your grades, but because you there with your heart! And your sister! She needs you! Protect her, like I would have done!". Jaden smiled and nodded.

"Of course I will! I will take care of everyone here, and that's includes Tara!" Jaden said and grinned. "However this duel is not finished yet!". Jaden revealed his trap card called "Final fusion". They both took damage now equal to their monsters att points. Both monsters clashes. A lot of dust was created. However Jaden knew the outcome. It was a draw! Jaden looked at Tara and smiled. He didn't win, however neither did Zane. When the dust cleared it was official. It was a draw. Jaden was lying on the duel field. He was totally burned out. All the students and teachers were clapping at them. Jaden looked at Tara. She was smiling and was clapping too.

"You okay!". Jaden looked up and saw that Zane was kneeling down beside him. He also looked beat. He was smiling at Jaden.

"Well it ended in a draw!" He said. Jaden smiled and looked at him.

"What about Tara then!" Jaden asked. Zane shrugged.

"Zane, Jaden!" could they both hear. Jaden turned around and saw Tara running towards them. She tossed herself into Zane's arms and were hugging him like crazy.

"Zane!" She said "Please don't leave me! Don't break up with me! Jaden didn't win, but please don't break up!". Jaden looked a little angry.

"Hey Zane didn't win either!" He scream "So he can't break up!". Jaden was sending Zane evil eyes. Zane coughed a little.

"Since neither one of us one!" Zane said "Then you will have to decide Tara!".

"I will stay with you!" she said "I will wait for you! Until you returns!". Jaden could hear all the students scream "Kiss, Kiss, kiss!" all over the duel field. Jaden saw Zane and Tara blush, but a little bit after they kissed. Jaden could hear Chancellor Sheppard announce that they were having a graduation feast, before everyone was returning home to summer break, and these students who want to stay in the summer had to sign up. Jaden got up on his feet.

"Oh no!" said Tara "We forgot to sign!". Jaden looked at Tara. She had grabbed his hand, and Zane's hand. A little bit after, she began running, with Zane and Jaden in both hands. Jaden was grinning like hell. This had bin a really fun year.
