Tara's P.O.V

"Come on you slowpoke, or we're gonna be late for the exam."

"Yeah, I know, I know!"

Tara was standing outside, waiting for her twin brother, Jaden. Who obviously couldn't find his deck. Tara sighed. They were gonna be late for the Duel Academy Entrance Exam, and she knew that her brother wanted to join the Academy so badly. It was totally the wrong day to be late.

"If you don't hurry, I am gonna leave you behind" Tara snorter out loud.

"Yeah, yeah," she could hear Jaden say. "Just leave without me then."

"Are you sure?" she asked with a frown.

"Yeah, I promise I won't be late," she could hear her brother say. Tara shrugged.

"Suit yourself!" she said and began running. Normal people would think that it was cruel to leave without her brother, but Tara just knew that her brother would make it. That's how their bond works. Tara would know instantly if her brother was in any kind of danger. And secondly, she believes in her brother. She began running towards KaibaCorp. She didn't notice that a mysterious character was watching her in the background...

Jaden's P.O.V

Finally, he found it. His deck. It was under his duvet the whole time. Of course! Jaden had on purpose slept with his deck the whole night, so he wouldn't forget them. But funnily enough, Jaden had totally forgotten about that when he woke up, and he made a big ruckus out of it. His sister was pretty angry at him for ruining her beauty sleep. Like he cared! His deck was gone.

Jaden grabbed his shoes, rucksack and his deck and ran out of the door. He had only a couple of minutes, before the Exam started. He was very thrilled. He imagined how many cool monsters there had to be at the Exam. It was gonna be so cool. By accident, he bumped into someone and dropped his cards.

"Sorry!" Jaden exclaimed. "It won't happen again! I'm just in a hurry!"

He grabbed his cards and was about to run again, when someone grabbed his hand. Jaden turned around, and was standing face to face - to his shock - with Yugi Muto, the King of Games.

"You dropped this" Yugi said and handed him his card. Jaden was totally staring at him. "You're Jaden Yuki, aren't you?"

"Yeah," said Jaden. He was still staring. He could hear his sisters voice in his head. It was rude, staring at people. Jaden hit his own face.

"Yeah," he said again. "And you're Yugi Muto. How do you know my name?"

"That's not important. But I think you should have this card."

Yugi gave Jaden "Winged Kuriboh". Jaden took a look at the card. It was pretty nice.

"Oh, and give this card to your sister, Tara." Yugi said, handing him another card. Jaden looked at the card.

"Thank you," Jaden said, but Yugi was already gone. Jaden quickly placed the two cards in his pocket and ran for his life. He was gonna make it. He just knew.

Tara's P.O.V

There were so many monsters at the Exam. Tara was pretty excited. Like her twin, she loved dueling. However, she also loved other things, besides duelling. Her brother lived for duelling, and sometimes it was very annoying. But she loved her brother anyway. She hadn't duelled yet. However, she had seen some pretty amazing duels so far. Like the duel with the boy named Bastion, who won his duel on strategy and another boy named Syrus, who won his duel on pure luck. She could not wait until it was her turn.

"I finally found you," she heard someone say. Tara turned around, and saw that Jaden was standing behind her, panting and sweating. Tara smiled at her brother.

"So you made it, Jay" she said. Jaden was smiling back at her.

"Of course. I told you I would be here, Tara. Did you have you first duel yet?"

"No, I'm still waiting." she said and looked at the duel field. Suddenly, someone was calling her name.

"Tara Yuki, please come to the duel field." Tara smiled and grabbed her deck. She was ready to face everyone. But before Tara began to leave, her brother grabbed her hand.

"Here - I got a gift for you. You probably won't believe me when I say this, but I got a card from Yugi Muto, the King of Games, and he said that I should give you this card". Jaden handed her a card. It was a monster.

"Wait, you met the King of Games?!". she practically screamed. Everyone was looking at them.

"Shhh!" said Jaden. "Yeah, in the city, but you got a duel to win, so go!"

Tara was looking skeptical at her brother, but she took her new card inside her deck. She walked down onto the duel field.

A professor, a man in a purple jacket, and had sunglasses was waiting for her.

"Are you ready for your test?" the man asked her as she took her place on the duelling field.

"Yeah," said Tara, who kept smiling. She could hear her brother cheering. It was pretty annoying.

"You have the first move," said the professor. Tara nodded.

Professor: 4000LP.
Tara: 4000LP.

"I place one monster facedown, and then place three cards face-down. Your turn."

The man draw. He summon a pretty strong monster 1900 att and attacked.

"I reveal my facedown cards. First up is Magic Cylinder. You get hit by your monsters own att. Then I reveal my second facedown: Robbin Zombie. It is still you turn". The man was surprised. He lay down one facedown and ended his turn.

"My turn, I draw!" screamed Tara. "I play the spell Mystical Space Typhoon, and I'll use it to destroy your facedown. Then I use Pot of Greed, which lets me draw two new cards. Then I use the spell Tribute to the Doom - by discarding my only card in my hand, your monster goes bye bye! I flip summon Spirit Reaper in att mode (300att), and use him to attack you. Because of its special ability, you lose a card from your hand. The effect from Robbin Zombie kicks in too. If I do damage to you, you lose a card from your deck too! I'll end my turn."

The man was more surprised. He drew and then grinned. He used the card Fissure and destroyed Tara's monster. Then he summoned a monster with the same number of att points. He then attacked. Tara used her last facedown Mirror Force and destroyed his monster. The man ended his turn.

Tara drew, hoping to get a monster and her deck didn't let her down. "I place a monster facedown and end my turn." The man grinned again.

"You're only stalling time" he said and grinned. The man tribute summoned a bigger monster with 2400 att. He attacked. Tara's monster was Des Koala (def 1800), and thankfully it had an effect. Her opponent got 400 points of damage for every card in her opponents hand. Her opponent had two of them. His Life Points dropped to one thousand, but Tara's monster was destroyed. If she didn't get a monster now, she would take massive damage next turn. She drew.

Suddenly, she heard a voice coming from the deck. She knew that she had drawn the monster her brother gave to her a minute ago. Maybe this card really came from the great Yugi Muto? Maybe it was true? She put the monster facedown and ended her turn.

The man grinned again. Tara had a poker face. The man summoned a dragon 1400 att, and attacked.

Tara grinned. "I reveal my monster: Marshmallon. If you attack it while it was in its facedown position, you get hit by 1000 points of damage, and my monster can't be destroyed in battle. I win!"

The professor had lost all of his life points. He graduated Tara and said, "Welcome to Duel Academy." Tara could not stop smiling.

"That was amazing sis. You defeated him without losing any of your life points!" said Jaden, when she was leaving the duel field and walked towards him.

"Yeah, yeah, it was not a big deal." Tara grabbed Jaden's arm and whispered in his ear, "And that card from Yugi made a whole difference. Did you know that Marshmallon is a duel spirit?"

"No," said Jaden and smiled. "But Winged Kuriboh is a spirit too, so whats the problem?"

Tara sighed. Duel spirits were not normal in their world, but Jaden didn't really care. Tara didn't want to explain the whole concept of duel spirits to her brother anyway. He wouldn't understand. She sighed again.

"I'm going to the registration center" She said and pointed at the staircase, and the second floor. "I'll be watching you from up there bro!"

Jaden was smiling at her. "I am gonna win sis. Just wait and see".

"You are now registrated for Duel Academy, miss Yuki. When all the other duels are finished, we're gonna fly you to Duel Academy Island. So you must wait a little bit."

"That's okay," she said. "I'm waiting for my brother anyway." Tara walked away from the desk and back to the staircase. She could see her twin brother on the duel field now and his opponent?? Was that a man or a woman. Two kids in blue uniforms was standing near the railing.

They must be students from the Academy, Tara thought. Maybe they know who Jaden's opponent is.

"Um, excuse me, but do you two know who my brother is dueling?"

Both of the students were turning around and looked at her. It was a boy and a girl. The boy was a little bit older than Tara. He had blue hair and dark blue eyes. The girl was probably her age, had long dark blonde hair and hazel eyes. The girl grinned at Tara. The boy was staring at her.

"You must be a new one, right?" asked the girl and smiled. "All the new ones asks that."

"Of course she is, Alexis" said the boy. "She's the girl who just duelled. She defeated the Professor without losing any damage. Her brother is probably him, who was close at not making it to the exam.".

"Oh yeah that's right, thanks Zane" said the girl Alexis. "I remember him! He was five seconds late or something. They made a special exception so that he could have the exam! But your brother is facing up against Dr. Crowler, one of the teachers from Duel Academy."

"He was late. He never told me that!" said Tara, who facepalmed her head in frustration, but a little bit after she calmed down. Her twin was having his duel now, so what was the problem?!

"Is that guy Dr. Crowler strong?" she asked the others.

"Only if he is using his own deck" replied Zane. "Let's just hope he doesn't use it".

Jaden P.O.V

Jaden: 4000 LP
Dr. Crowler: 4000 LP

Jaden was ready for his duel. He was excited. A special professor was even facing him. He looked like a girl, but that didn't bother him! Jaden just wanted to duel. Jaden had already sumoned Elemental HERO Avian in def and was waiting for Dr. Crowler to make his move. He used a spell so he could have a look at Jaden's cards, and at a cost of one thousand Life Points, he could send one of Jaden's cards to the graveyard. He chose Monster reborn. Crowler lay down two facedown cards and destroyed them with Heavy Storm. And since they were both Statue of the Wicked trap cards, he could summon two Wicked Statue Tokens to take their place. Because of that, he could summon Ancient Gear Golem with 3000 att. He attacked Jaden and gave him piercing damage, because of his monsters effect. Jaden was smiling. It was so must fun.

Tara P.O.V

Tara was looking at her brothers duel. He had a tough start, but she knew that her brother would win either way. Jaden had placed a monster facedown, and another facedown card in his Spell/Trap zone. Tara could hear some of the other students laugh at him, but Tara didn't say anything.

"Are you not gonna defend your brother?" Alexis asked in confusion. Tara shook her head.

"No, I don't have to. Why should I? He's concentrating, and in a moment, he's gonna turn things around."

Tara just knew. Jaden's facedown monster was Winged Kuriboh. Tara could hear its voice from where she stood. She could hear her Marshmallon answer. They must have at deep bond too. Like Jaden and her. Dr. Crowler attacked again. Winged Kuriboh shielded Jaden from any damage, but Crowler - to Tara's horror - began trash talking about it.

"Uh oh!" said Tara out loud with a mortified expression. Zane and Alexis was looking at her.

"What's wrong?" asked Alexis "Did your brother make a mistake?"

"No!" replied Tara and began smiling. "Crowler did though. No one - and I repeat NO ONE - gets away by insulting my Twin brothers monsters."

And she was right. Jaden has activated the trap HERO Signal, which allowed him to Special Summon from his deck his second Elemental HERO - Burstinitrix. Jaden then drew because it was his turn now. He activated the spell card The Warrior Returning Alive to bring back his Avian, which he then quickly summoned. Then he played Polymerization the moment after, fusing his two HERO's to Fusion Summon Elemental HERO Flame Wingman (2100 att). He then used the field spell card Skyscraper and his monster gained 1000 att as it was attacking. Jaden attacked Crowler and his monster got destroyed. Because of Jadens monsters ability, the attack points of Crowler's monster was dealt to his Life Points and he lost the duel. The crowd went wild with cheers as Jaden yelled in victory, full of joy as he waved at Tara.

"Did you see that, sis?! I won!" Tara did nothing. She was too embarrassed.

"Your brother is pretty strong," said Zane and walked away.

"He is something alright," said Alexis and smiled at Tara.

"Yeah, and sometimes he is too stupid," said Tara and ran towards her brother.
