Chapter 3.

Normal p.o.v.

At the castle, who could be seen it the horizontal from Freya's window, was hell lose. The old king, King Sheppard was outraged. He was sitting inside his study room, and was actually flipping out. He was yelling, screaming and tossing things at his adviser named Crowler, who right now was hiding behind one of the big things in here to avoid being hit by all of these things the king was tossing around with. A lot of stuff was already lying on the ground and was broken. The king slammed his hand at his desk and sat down in his chair once again.

"My son has been avoiding his responsibilities long enough" yelled the king angry "It is high time he married and settled down. Not walking around flirting with every girl and don't have a care in the world. Pick a girl he likes and get married. That is not too much to ask for, now is it?". He tossed another object around the room somewhere. You could hear it break. Crowler was crawling out from his hiding place.

"Of course not my king" He replied Sheppard "But you know Prince Aster, he says those girls really doesn't interest him. He is just spending time with them for the fun of it. You just have to be patient sire". At that statement another object flew through the room and the king flew up from the chair once again.

"I am patient!" he yelled angry. Then he sighed deeply and sat down once again "But I am not getting any younger you know, I want to see my grandchildren before I go". Crowler approached the sad and now more calmed king.

"I understand sire" Crowler said in a sympathetic voice. The king sighed again.

"No, you don't. You don't have any kids" He said and pushed him a little away "You don't know what it means to see your only child, grow farther and farther away from you. I am lonely in this desolated old palace". The king sniffed a little and hugged Crowler a little. Apparently he did that a lot because Crowler let him to it.

"I.. I want to hear the pitter patter of little feet again" he continued and began to sob.

"Now, now your majesty, perhaps if you just let him alone" Crowler began, but Sheppard looked up with a wild face expression.

"Let him alone!" he sneered angry "You said that last time as well and look what happened,. He brought home two homeless children on his own age. A boy and a girl and made me adopt them. Oh they are family, but not your blood related son. If only he had fallen in love with the girl, but no he sees her at his sister. Aster is too kindhearted, kind of like me". The king sighed deeply again. Crowler was rolling with his eyes and didn't comment on that. Everyone in the castle knew that Aster had his mothers personality and not his father's impatient nature. Crowler coughed.

"Hmm yeah, but well in matters of love.." began Crowler but Sheppard snort.

"Bla, love" He said and snort again "It is just a boy meeting a girl under the right conditions. So we are arranging the conditions". Crowler looked surprised at the king.

"But your majesty, if the prince should suspect..".

"Suspect!" the king sneered "Look Aster is coming home today after a couple of days visiting an old friend. So what could be more natural than a ball to celebrate his return hmm?".

"Um nothing sire" stammered Crowler a little. The king was angry once again.

"And if all the eligible maidens in my kingdom just happens to be there, why he is bound to show some interest in one of them, isn't he?!". Crowler was not sure what to reply in this case, but since he didn't reply the king, Sheppard grabbed his collar.

"Isn't he?" he yelled angry. The adviser quickly nodded. Then Sheppard smiled "And the moment he does. Soft light, romantic music, all the trimming". At the last word he pushed down Crowler so he fell to the ground and into some armored helmet the king had been tossing around with a while ago. Shepard laughed.

"It can't possibly fail" He said out loud and looked at Crowler "Can it?". Crowler lifted the visor from the helmet.

"Yes sire, I mean no sir" he replied and sighed "I shall arrange the ball for..".

"Tonight!" the king said firmly. Crowler looked surprised at the king.

"Tonight? Wait tonight?!" He said in panic "But sire I..".

"Tonight" said the king once again "And see that every eligible maid is there, Understand!". He yelled the last word and it gave echo inside the helmet.

"Yes your majesty" Crowler replied and rushed out to prepare for the upcoming ball. Outside at the door. Two teens were standing near the door and was listening as well. Sarina and Sartorius it was. They had listened to the whole conversation.

"Well Aster is not gonna be happy to hear about that" Sarina said and sighed "Maybe we should warn him, before he arrived". Sartorius sighed as well.

"No then the king will just find another excuse to create something similar" He concluded "You heard the king. He wants Aster to take responsibilities. He is the next king after all". Sarina sighed deeply.

"But I wish we could help our brother with something at least" she said in a worried tone. Sartorius smiled at her.

"Well then go and get your finest dress ups. Apparently there is a ball tonight" he proclaimed "We can't stop the event from happening, but we can at least let the ball be less boring for Aster if we are there too. Oh and maybe Aster really can find a girl he loves beside all these maidens tonight. Who knows". Sarina grinned.

"Oh brother, you just want to dance with all the girls" she said and rolled her eyes "And you know Aster. He has never shown interest in any girl ever. What should be different at the ball". Sartorius shrugged.

"Well you never know" he replied "The fate is an mysterious power indeed". Sarina grinned. That was true indeed.

Banner family's p.o.v.

Time skip.

At the chateau, the stepfather and his children were about to have a music lesson. Banner was playing the piano, Atticus the flute and Alexis was singing. The cat Pharaoh was lying on the couch in the room and looked at them.

"The pear shaped toad" sang Banner and hit a tone at the piano and tried to make Alexis hit the tone with her voice. She didn't and it sounded terrible. Atticus was not any better on the flute. The music in the room was just out of tune. They began singing the song "Sing, sweet, nightingale". The terrible music made the poor Pharaoh place his paws over his ears and in the end he walked outside the room and was closing the door after him, because it sounded so terrible. However a new, this time beautiful singing voice, could now be heard. Pharaoh followed the sound and saw Freya lying on the ground washing the floor. She was singing as well.

"Oh sing sweet nightingale.

Sing sweet nightingale.

High above you.

Oh sing sweet nightingale".

Pharaoh looked at the girl and then up at the master's door. They might be terrible at singing, but they were his family and like the rest of the family. Freya should have less joy than possible. The cat noticed the dustpan on the stairs and grinned evilly. He placed his hands at all the dirt in there and jumped around on the new washed floor Freya just had made. Freya looked angry at the cat and got up.

"Oh Pharaoh, your mean old cat" she sneered and grabbed the broomstick. She began chasing it around the hallways "I just have to teach you a lesson". She just had cornered the cat, when she could hear knocks on the door. Annoyed that she couldn't teach Pharaoh his lesson. A voice could he heard at the door.

"Opening in the name of the king" they said. Freya opened the door and found the king's messenger Bonaparte outside. He gave her a letter.

"An urgent message from his imperial majesty" he said. Freya thanked him and walked inside the room again. At her feets was the two mice Jaden and Syrus. They were curious about the letter as well.

"From the king, from the king, Gotcha" Jaden said and looked up at Freya "What does it say Freya?". Syrus jumped up and down as well.

"What does it say? What does it say?" he asked as well.

"I don't know" Freya replied and looked up at the top floor "He said it was urgent. Maybe I should interrupt the.. music lesson". She grinned. So did the mice and they followed Freya upstairs.

Inside the music room, Banner, Alexis and Atticus was still singing strongly in the room. However at some point one of Atticus's fingers got stuck in the flute and that made him blow out the same tone a lot of times, making his sister sing "High" in a deaftone tone many times. When he finally got his finger out of the hole, Alexis looked angry at her brother and well grabbed the flute and slammed at the top of the head. Atticus glared angry back at her.

"You did that on purpose, admit it" Alexis said and snort. Atticus sneered. He grabbed his flute and slammed Alexis with it as well. Before they knew it they were having a pointless fight. Banner looked annoyed at his children.

"Alexis, Atticus!" he said firmly "Remember, above all, self control!". The children stopped fighting, but Atticus did snort at his sister and Alexis replied with raspberries. They were about to start the lesson again, when Freya knocked on the door. Banner sneered angry and slammed the piano.

"Yes!" he yelled angry. (so much for self control) Freya walked inside the room.

"Freya! I've warned you never to interrupt the..".

"But this just arrived from the palace" Freya quickly interrupted.

"From the palace" the two children yelled and rushed over to Freya and pulled the envelope out of the hands of Freya. Now the were fighting over it. Banner quickly grabbed the envelope out of their hands and opened it.

"I will read it" he proclaimed and looked at the letter. Then his eyes widened "Well that is interesting. There's to be a ball".

"A ball!" the siblings said in unison.

"Yeah in honour of the prince" Banner continued.

"Oh the prince" Alexis replied happily.

"And by royal command, every eligible maiden is to attend" Banner said proudly.

"Well that is me" Alexis replied happily. Banner nodded. He looked at Atticus.

"It is also rumors that the prince saved two homeless teens on his age, one of them is a lady. Maybe you could both have a shot at the palace. If not there is a lot of pretty ladies there anyway" he said. Atticus and Alexis was dancing around singing "We shall attend to the ball". Freya looked at them for a minute.

"But that means I can go too" she then said happily. The siblings stopped dancing.

"You? Dancing with a prince?" Atticus said and laughed.

"I will be honoured your highness, would you mind holding my broom" Alexis said in a mocking tone and bowed. Then her and Atticus was laughing like hell.

"Well why not?" said Freya bravely "After all I am still a member of the family, and it says 'by royal command.. every eligible maiden is to attend'". Banner frowned.

"Yes so it does" he said slowly "Well I see no reason why you can't go. If you get all your work done". Freya smiled happily.

"Oh I will, I promise" she told them and was about to run out of the room.

"And if you can find something suitable to wear" Banner added. Freya turned around.

"I'm sure I can. Oh thank you stepfather" she told them and rushed out of the room and closed the door behind her. Alexis and Atticus looked at their father.

"Father do you realise what you just said" Atticus questioned in horror.

"Of course" Banner replied and smirked. "I said 'if'". The siblings eyes widened.

"Oh if!" Alexis said and grinned. Atticus and Banner chuckled by that as well.

An: He he the king is so funny. Sheppard is maybe a little out of character.. but I do think Crowler and him fits well as a character team in this story. Secondly I just couldn't resist making Alexis and Atticus Banner's kids. Atticus's music talent just well fits here lol.
