The stranger.
"It is going to be okay child. Do not worry".
That was the first words Kite heard and remembered completely. He felt weird. Like he was drifting in between worlds, and he wondered if this was the great beyond.
"Just listen to my voice".
Kite groaned as he began concentrating. This voice was soothing. Kite was not even sure that it was a man or a woman speaking to him. However strong arms were holding him. They were as soothing and warm as the voice had been. Kite wondered if this was how a newborn felt when they were in their parent's arms for the first time. All he knew was that he didn't want this warmth to end.
"Just listen to my voice and... obey".
Kite nodded slightly. Half unconscious as he was or felt. He wasn't sure here, but he would listen to the voice who was so soothing and warm. It was helping him.
"That's right. Listen. Now go to sleep. You will feel much better afterwards". And Kite couldn't do anything but obey.
Time skip.
The sound of dripping water was the first sound Kite heard as he came to himself. At first, he couldn't really see anything, because everything around him was shrouded in darkness. His first thought was that he was blind, but nothing covered his eyes, and after a while he did get used to the darkness and could more or less see his surroundings. Rocky walls were at his back and feet, and Kite soon realized he was in a cave of some kind. Mostly because light was coming from the stars in the night sky. Wait?! It was night? He was sure it had been daytime when they entered the portal and... fought his father?! That thought alone made Kite so dizzy that he didn't manage to stand up. Even when he tried. The whole event was running through his mind. The story about his father and his brother Hart. He had let his guard down and his father had attacked. He was injured in... Kite rubbed his stomach and found bandages wrapped around him. Where an injury was supposed to be was well nothing. Kite couldn't understand it. That kind of injury was difficult to heal. Even if he got medical attention right away, he should be able... or should he? Had his father turned him into a demon? Was that the reason he had recovered so much? Kite groaned as he tried to get up again. He needed answers and he was not getting them by sitting here and do nothing.
"I do not think it is such a good idea to move boy. Your injury was very fatal" a voice suddenly said. It made Kite jerk in surprise, which also made pain run through his wound. Kite couldn't help himself as a little scream left his lips.
"I told you so. Are all members from the celestial Order this foolish?" the same voice, a male's voice, responded.
Kite's eyes flickered around, trying to find the one who spoke, while at the same time he stumbled around, hitting the cave wall seconds later. He did however manage to find the one talking. At the entrance to the cave was a man standing. Or Kite figured it was a man since it was a male's voice that spoke. That and he was tall. Taller than he was, but besides that he couldn't really see this stranger's features.
"Who are you?" Kite asked as his eyes narrowed in suspicion. Then he remembered what the man had asked him and added "Where do you know of the holy order?".
"There isn't a demon who hasn't heard about the order boy" The man snort out coldly "You are after all killing my brethren".
"So, you are here for revenge? Is that why you are here or are you an associate of my father? Why save me? What do you want? No demon does anything for free. Especially not helping a member of the order" Kite asked in a fierce tone.
"Smart boy. At least you not completely stupid. Maybe you will be worthwhile after all" the man replied as he walked inside the cave.
Grey hair meets his eyes first. Then his clothes. His plain blue and white jacket who was open and revealed a black undershirt. Black pants with shoes completed his look. All which made Kite frown. This was the plainest demon he had ever seen. Then he met his eyes. His golden eyes and Kite shivered slightly. The thought Obey, obey, obey rang through him like you were ringing a bell right in front of him, and he instantly tried to redraw himself from the man who was now hovered above him.
"I will ask you some questions Kite Tenjo and you will answer them honestly. Do you understand?" the stranger then said. All which made Kite nod instantly.
"Good boy" the stranger praised as he grabbed his chin "Now tell me, where is Ray Akaba? I know you know about her".
"Ray Akaba? The holy mother?" Kite questioned at first "She is dead...!".
"I know she is dead!" the stranger hissed in an angry tone "But she must associate with you. I sensed her earlier. Where is she?!".
"I... I haven't seen her. No one has. She is an angel" Kite blurred out and wondered why the heck he was telling this stranger all this. The stranger hissed at that.
"Fine. Let's try something else. Why are you in the realm of demons?" he asked.
"I am here on a mission. To kill my father and get my brother's soul back" Kite replied dutifully "The others are here on a mission to speak with the demon king...".
"The others?" the stranger questioned as he tilted his head a little "Who are they?".
"Yuto, the demon prince and his friends Saya, Shay and Allen. They refused to leave his side since he decided to return home..." Kite mused slowly "Sorano, the demon from the wrath clan are with us too. He owed Declan Akaba a favor and decided to protect his mate. His Gili from harm. She wants to free Declan Akaba and then wishes an audience with his king...".
"Hmm really? That is interesting. Foolish but interesting. They must know the demon king do not take kind to visitors" the stranger mused in a cold tone.
"They know, but they don't care. Gili is determined to go. She says she has a message from Ray to him..." Kite said and tried to get out of the grip of this demon. His eyes. For some reason he couldn't resist him.
"Ray? Why would this Gili know Ray Akaba? Have they met before?" the stranger questioned. Kite let out a panting breath. He felt sick all of the sudden.
"I... I don't think so." Kite gasped as he clenched his fist "No! Let me go! I will never betray lady Gili's trust. You fiend!".
With amazing strength, he pulled away and even managed to get up. The demon in front of him did nothing to stop him. Properly because he got the information he wanted.
"You can resist me hu? Impressive, but I figured this much. You are son of Faker after all" he then said and chuckled darkly.
"Is this... what people call a Satan soul?" Kite questioned as he gasped for air "Is that why... I am obedient to you?". The man actually chuckled at that.
"Oh, sweet boy if that was the case, I didn't have to treat your injuries, now would I?" he replied and smirked "You are still human. For now. There are other methods for a demon to control others. In your case my blood. Demon blood can heal injuries extremely quick and makes their target rather obedient if they wish so. Your injury was severe so you will be under my control for hours or days to come".
"Then why heal me at all. I am a human!" Kite sneered.
"Your friends begged me to save you. It was rather pathetic so to speak" the male replied as he got up. "They are outside, waiting for you".
Kite looked in disbelief at the stranger as began walking outside of the cave. Kite followed. After several attempt in walking of course. He had only managed to get outside before arms wrapped around his neck and a girl wearing glasses was hugging him.
"Kite! I was so worried!" Saya uttered as tears were running down her cheek.
"Saya...?" Kite questioned surprised as she let go of him. "I told you to go without me. Is Allen also here?". That question got of course answered when Allen indeed approached him with that cheerful grin of his.
"Of course! Like we would let your hanging" Allen replied as he tapped his shoulder in a friendly matter. He turned towards the stranger now "I am very grateful for your help mister. If you hadn't come and told me how to defeat Kite's father, we would never have been able to save him. So, thank you". Allen bowed to the demon.
"You... you defeated my father?" Kite uttered surprised "How?".
"Yeah. This guy told us his weakness. You see Kite your father can redirect injuries and attacks back at the opponent. Like a mirror reflector, but it only works on one opponent at a time" Allen began explaining. "His biggest weakness is his heart. The orb at his chest. I stuck that and bam, he fell to the ground. Just like that. Saya and I tried healing you though...".
"But it was too severe. That was the reason you struck this deal with this demon?" Kite questioned as he felt bile taste dread in his mouth. Owing a demon, a favor was almost worse than death here. Allen tilted his head in confusion now.
"What are you talking about Kite? This demon said he knew you and Yuto. That was the reason he wanted to help in the first place" Allen then said.
Fear ran once again through Kite as he turned his attention towards the stranger. Kite could see the evil smirk plaster on the demon's lips now. However, at the same time a weird sensation ran through him. He should obey. He should listen. He should lie to his friends. It was like this order was engraved in him. Just listen to my voice and obey!
"I... I... no!" Kite surprisingly managed to yell and grabbed his head "I am not... obeying your orders. Lady Gili is the only one...".
"Kite...?" Allen uttered "Kite what's wrong?".
"Oh, he is a strong one indeed. It has been centuries since anyone disobeyed me. Especially, since I am this close" the stranger replied as he chuckled darkly. Kite could see how both Allen and Saya froze in fear now.
"I... I don't understand. You healed our friend..." Saya began as she took some steps backwards. Allen instantly went in front of her and Kite. It was his way of protection.
"What... what do you want? Who are you?" he questioned.
"Oh, my sweet little children. Did that order not teach you anything?" the stranger replied as he hummed slightly "Don't trust a demon. Or anyone for that matter. Especially not in my realm". Kite tensed at that. This couldn't be, could it? Kite swallowed a lump in his throat. The man in from of him was indeed the demon king.
"They are only apprentices" Kite then defended "They haven't gotten that course yet". The stranger chuckled darkly at that.
"I see. And you still thought you could do a difference? Oh, how sweet and utterly pathetic" the demon responded and flicked with his fingers.
Instantly, two beings appeared beside him, and instantly kneeled beside him. Both looked like warriors and were males. One dressed in complete blue and light colors, while the other was the opposite and dressed in red and dark colors.
(this is how they look like)
"Your majesty. You asked for our assistance" the blue one spoke.
"Yes, I did Astro. Bring those to the royal palace in my personal little cage. It's been awhile since I had human pets" the demon king responded and pointed at Allen and Saya.
Kite looked extremely pale as the blue colored servant teleported and reappeared behind Saya and Allen. It had been so fast they hadn't even had the time to react, and before Kite could count to 3, they were gone. Just like that.
"Chrono, status report!" The king ordered to the second servant "How is my little son and his futile rebellion going?".
"They are improving. Your son Yuri have planned some sort of challenge to these mortals by kidnapping Declan Akaba. Want me to intervene?" Chrono asked.
"Oh no, no. That would ruin the little game he has created, and I intend to watch" the king replied and chuckled darkly "Besides, we have guests. My son apparently decided to return home. See to it that he gets just about the right hospitality".
"As you wish your majesty" Chrono replied as he bowed respectfully. Then he disappeared, leaving Kite alone with the demon king.
"Lastly, there is you, Kite Tenjo. The little rebellious hunter from the order" the king stated. That evil smirk was back on his lips. "What to do with you?".
"Kill me!" Kite hissed "I didn't ask for you to save my life...".
"Ah so you wanted to become a demon? That was the fate you were having hadn't I intervened" the king interrupted him with and chuckled darkly "And I do not intend for a human touched by harmonics to roam free in my realm. As demon it would only complicate things and helped the one blessing you out. Regardless, who brought you to life". Kite's eyes widened in horror now. He knew!
"Of course, I know dear boy. I am the demon king. The former partner to Ray" The demon king said. He had clearly read his mind. He smirked evilly "And I intend to finish our conversation from before. Tell me about the current user of Harmonics and this time I suggest you will not resist me. It will only make things worse for you".
A,N: And here you have it. Zarc is in the story now. Not that it is any good, considering he has Allen, Kite, and Saya in his grasp. Poor, poor children. Especially, Kite, being influenced by the king himself. 'Gulp'. I do not want to know what Zarc intends to do with any of them. As for Astro and Chrono. I am sure you guessed they are astrograph and chronograph sorcerer. Zarc's personal servants. In the next chapter, we are back with Gili and her group in their pursuit in getting to Declan before it is too late. Hope they reach him. Please comment on what you think as reader so far. Thank you so much for following this story, I appreciate it.
