"Phew that was a close call".

Shay couldn't agree more. They had managed to get away from the hut and the herd of demons who had been trailing them for a while. After several attempt it seemed like they had survived the worse. Shay had never seen so many demons assembled at one place and even though he was a fighter at heart, even he had to admit it would be suicide to take that herd on.

"But what about Yuya?" Yuto uttered rather frantically as he was fighting like hell in Shay's grip "We can't just leave him there!".

"Trust me. Yuya is strong on his own. Don't sell your brother short" Sorano replied in a firm tone.

He was currently carrying Gili Sakaki in his arms as he was looking around, trailing, scouting and making sure no demon could follow their trail. Shay was impressed with Sorano's skills in being undetected. Aster phoenix once had a course in that exact subject which he might have failed. Sure, it might have been boring as heck that times, but who knew tracking and keeping their spiritual pressure low was the right way to go here? If he ever survived this ordeal, he owed high priest phoenix an apology.

"I am not selling him short. If this were a normal event, I knew he could take care of himself, but this is Iggy Arlo we are talking about. He is obsessed with my brother" Yuto countered and were once fighting like hell.

"Yuto contain yourself!" Shay ended up shouting, making the purple/black haired male stop surprised up looking at him "You are weak! All you would do is slow Yuya down and make him worried about you. Then he will lose to this Iggy".

"I... I didn't think about that" Yuto mused slowly and this time he let himself get dragged by Shay once again. All which made Shay sigh deeply.

"Do you ever. It is just like when we were training together once. You were more worried about everyone else besides yourself" he then said and then suddenly stopped up and looked firmly at Yuto "Now we are at it, why haven't you recovered already? You are in the demon realm. Shouldn't you be all energies by just being here?".

"Shay, it is not that simple..." Yuto began but got interrupted by Shay.

"Then explain it to me! How am I able to help you if you won't tell me what...?".

"Oh, that is easy. Yuto just needs to feast on..." Sorano began explaining.

"We don't have time to stand here and talk. We need to find some more secluded place for us to rest at" Yuto interrupted with a firm tone and grabbed Shay's hand and dragged away with him without any explanation.

Time skip.

"Salt?! Why in the world are you carrying salt?" Sorano hissed angrily as he glared fiercely at Shay with betrayed eyes. All Shay could do was shrug casually.

"For an occasion just as this. Saya handed me some before we left. In case we needed some" he responded with, which made Sorano hiss.

"But... but it hurts! Like shit and... you do know you are caging us in!" the demon sneered "Why would you do that? We can't defend...".

"True, but no demon can come inside either" Yuto pointed out and pointed at the entrance hall to this cave they had found. That only made Sorano hiss even more.

"I am a demon! A full bloody demon. It is like being trapped in a cage!" he yelled.

"How else can we protect Gili until she wakes up? By not sleeping 24/7? Even us demons need rest once in a while" Yuto lectured which only enraged Sorano more.

"You are only half demon boy, so don't lecture me. I am sure you can walk passed that barrier just fine when being human!" he sneered back in an angry tone.

"Is that your way of saying you want to sleep outside tonight? I am sure Shay can open the barrier for you" Yuto mused in a teasing voice "Shay and I can surely handle taking care of Gili for one night".

"I hope demon king will maim you all!" Sorano growled as an insult. Then he indeed made Shay break the barrier and walked out yelling all kinds of insults, before disappearing to who knows where.

"What was that all about?" Shay questioned and looked over at Yuto.

"Cleithrophobia. The fear of being trapped. Some demons develop that if they have been trapped too many times under a ritual. But don't worry I am sure he will return in the morning" Yuto replied as he tossed some wood on the campfire they made in here "Sorano is a demon and can handle himself pretty well. Besides, Yuri and his henchmen aren't after him. No, they are after me, and Gili".

"But if the barrier makes you uncomfortable...".

"To be honest I have nothing against it. Never really being summoned in a ritual before. That and I trust you with my life Shay. We are partners" Yuto said and sent him one of his rare smiles. All which made Shay lift an eyebrow at that.

"I... I thought we were more than partners Yuto" he then said and addressed the elephant in the room. He could see the surprised expression on Yuto's face now.

"Of course, we are. Are you doubting that?" Yuto then asked.

"Not per say doubting it Yuto... but" Shay sighed before continuing "... What are we to each other? At the order we were... somewhat together. Allen called us lovers when he met at Bootleg, but is that really true? Not to be ungrateful, but we haven't done anything that established this. No holding hand. No hugs. Nothing! I know you are next heir to the demon throne, and you said we have to hold a low profile, but...".

"Shay, I am sorry. So sorry" Yuto responded with as he moved closer. His hand intervened with his in an apologetic matter. "I just had a lot on my mind with my family, the rebellion and brothers that I kinda forgot us. I do care. I do love you. You are mine Shay. Don't ever doubt that".

"It would be a lot more convincing if you let me heal you by kissing you. Don't demons gain energy by feasting on humans' emotions?" Shay responded as his hand rested on Yuto's cheek "I am sure we could have been at the royal palace by now if you transformed into your dragon form".

Yuto who had just placed his head at his shoulder, jerked surprised at that statement.

"Shay!" Yuto uttered shocked as he quickly moved away from him.

"What? It is true! Feast on me Yuto! I know you won't kill me!" Shay countered.

"I told you it is not that simple!" Yuto growled back "I am a demon prince...".

"I knew it! You don't care. I am only a demon toy you fancy for now!" Shay hissed and pushed Yuto away from him. "As soon as you taken the throne, you will dispose of me. Just like a real demon would".

"What? No Shay. You are special, you..." he could hear Yuto say but the rest got drowned as he walked past the salt barrier without breaking it.

Time skip.

Water got splashed in his face as Shay kneeled near a small river. It was not far away from the cave they were staying at really, which had been one of the reasons they had decided to camp here in the first place. Shay however, had deliberately, not broken the salt barrier so he could be alone with his emotions. More water got slashed in his face and it did make Shay stop up, before sitting down looking up at the night sky. Ironically, stars were also shining brightly on the sky in the demon realm too, even though Shay couldn't recognize any of the constellations. It made him remember a time at the order where they all had, his friends Allen, Yuto and Saya had gone stargazing one night. There Yuto had snuggled up to him, leaning his head on his shoulder and just been there with him. Shay shook his head in confusion. Why had he yelled in there? Demanded more of Yuto that they had ever done in their relationship beforehand? Yuto had never been intimate much at the order, so why was he expecting more from him all of the sudden? Was it because of him now knowing his lover was a demon and suddenly got slight greedy and jealous because he now couldn't get what he wanted? Shay shook his head again. What was wrong with him? He wasn't usually like that so why...?

"You know humans does get a negative influence in here. It is perfectly normal" A voice suddenly said behind him and by reflex, Shay grabbed his sword and pointed the sharp edge at the intruder.

"Ah, easy, easy with that thing. You could poke someone's eye out. Like mine" the intruder uttered in a scared tone.

Shay was greeted by this red headed boy with freckles all over his face. He was dressed in an entertainer clothes and were currently lying on the ground since Shay had forced him down with his sword.

"Who are you? And what are you doing here?" Shay asked in a fierce tone "Don't make me pierce you demon!". He could see the boy gulp scared.

"But... But... I am no demon. I am a human like you" the boy countered in pure distress and were holding his hands up in surrender "Or to be technical, I was. My master turned me into a Satan soul when he extracted my soul, but still. I am human like you. Don't even have any powers. I promise!".

Shay growled suspiciously. He did move the sword from this weird boy, but he was ready in case he was lying.

"Oh. And why should I take your words for it? You are a demons' servants".

"Yep! That I indeed am. Dennis Macfield, Satan soul to a royal prince at your service" The boy bowed respectfully as an introduction "That was why I approached you. You are like me in that regard, aren't you? Lover to a demon prince. I might be able to give you some pointers...".

"I do need your help!" Shay hissed back and sent this boy an intense glare.

"Oh, cranky, are we?" Dennis teased and jumped away in a very acrobatic fashion when Shay tried to slice him with the sword once again.

Shay soon found him sitting up at a dead tree's branch and were looking at him very cheerfully. How he had managed to get up there so quick, Shay had no idea, but guessed that either this was a boosted effect of becoming a Satan soul or Dennis must have been working in a circus when he was a human. Not that it really mattered.

"I would also be cranky if my prince didn't show any interest in me at all" Dennis singsong teasingly "Or maybe Lord Yuto have just forgotten you are human and have needs? This world effects humans in a negative way you know".

"Shut it! You freckled freak! Don't test me or I will cut you down in slices!" Shay yelled threateningly "What Yuto and I do is none of your business. Now get out of my sight before I...".

"Right, all right. I will leave. But I really do not understand your problem at all. Lord Yuto is a demon prince. He is not made out a thin piece of glass you know." Dennis chuckled as he now were standing up. He was waving jovially at him "He might even like it if you took charge. Just saying".

And like he promised, Dennis jumped off the branch and ran off to who knows where, leaving Shay annoyed and a little bit thoughtful.

Time skip.

"Shay. You are back. I was so worried".

Yuto grabbed around his arm as he pulled him closer the minute he walked through the barrier. Shay was not sure how he felt about the sudden change in his partner but ended going along with whatever Yuto wanted. That being him placing him down at the ground in front of him. He could see how Yuto's steel gray eyes were staring at him now.

"We need to talk. I need to tell you...".

"I believe we do" Shay responded and broke up whatever Yuto was about to say "Is it true humans respond negatively to the demon realm Yuto?".

"Oh, um yes, but how do you know about that Shay?".

"And you are physically strong demon, even in human form?" Shay asked and ignored Yuto's question completely. He could see how the demon prince looked at him with bewildered eyes now.

"Well yeah, but what has that to do with anything?".

"Yuto I... you are my partner, but..." Shay hesitated for a bit before continuing. Expressing himself and his own feelings were just not his thing, but he would make an exception for Yuto's sake. The fear of losing him was just too great.

"Yuto, I care... I care for you deeply and..." he leaned closer. His hands placed on his shoulders now "...and that is why... I want to help you regardless what. I don't want to lose you...".

"Shay I don't under...".

But the rest of the sentence got silenced the moment their lips meet in a heated kiss. And heated was the right word here. Yuto's lips were extremely warm, but not in a bad way. It was like you were sitting up at a nice warm heater, that made you warm and fuzzy. He almost didn't want to part from this. It was all he had ever wanted really, but sadly the lack of air in his lungs told him otherwise. In the end they parted away. Shay were gasping for air a little, while Yuto was staring at him with widened eyes. His hand touching his own lips. It was like he couldn't fandom what just had happened. Shay let out a little chuckle. He was happy he could leave Yuto this astonished.

"Shay... what... have you done?" Yuto then finally managed to say.

"I kissed you. You needed your strength back and I...".

"I am a demon prince Shay! We don't just feed from the seven sins and I... oh Shay I am so sorry. You just came at me so sudden and... You didn't know and... Shay I am so sorry! I will make up for it. You will be given the highest honor I grant. I promise!".

Tears were running down his cheeks now, which made Shay stare at him in confusion. That was his first warning that something was wrong. His second...

"Yuto, I don't feel so good...".

That was an understatement as suddenly every ounce of energy left his body and he tilted forward without any control at all. Yuto caught him and laid him carefully on the ground for his feet. Shay could feel how his tears hit his face now as his demon lover was holding his hands, who was now glowing in a strange, weird light. It took him some seconds to realize his hands were not the only thing glowing. No, his whole body was beginning to as well and fear began running through his body. What was happening? Why was he glowing? This didn't mean what he thought right? He wasn't about to...

"Don't worry Shay. I will bring you back. I love you. You are my fated mate". That was the last thing he heard before his world went completely dark.

A,N: Wah! I can't believe I wrote this! This is so sad! A quick shout out to my friend  on Wattpad. Without her I couldn't get out of this block I had on the Halloween story.
