Amun
Bakura lay on the large boulder that hadn't cracked even just a bit from the impact. His arms were wrapped around it, as if he were hugging the boulder that had possibly killed him. His head was cracked open, his epic snowy white hair was smeared with his blood. Bakura's lavender eyes were closed, and the blood kept flowing from his head. It kept bleeding, and bleeding, and bleeding.
Atem was too shocked to move, but finally he ran to Bakura after recovering quickly, with Marik at his heels. He grabbed Bakura by the shoulders and yanked him away from the rock, just as a protective mother would take her child away from a cobra that they had discovered. Bakura was limp and heavy, his blood stained Atem as he held him.
"Bakura are you alright?!" Atem asked with genuine concern. Marik stood beside him silently, annoyed but found himself just a tiny bit concerned too. "Bakura, stop fooling around and get up!" Atem started yelling and shook Bakura like crazy.
Great, he must've grown closer to Bakura. Marik thought annoyed. He knows we can't trust him, but he's worried about him. Geez, I guess not just because he's our only ticket back to the present, but probably because he ACTUALLY LIKES HIM. Marik snapped out of his thoughts and was aware of the situation that they were in.
Atem had stopped yelling and was on his feet, holding Bakura. "Marik, go tie the other two horses to our chariot." He commanded.
Marik nodded and grabbed the reigns of the two chocolate stallions. He fastened them up to the chariot rapidly, along with the two black stallions and got on the chariot with Atem and Bakura.
"Hold on to Bakura, Marik." Atem said as he handed Bakura gently over to him. Marik held him in one arm and grasped the rim of the chariot with his other hand, so as not to fall out.
Atem flicked the reigns, and they were off like a lightning bolt. It took Marik all his strength to hold on to both Bakura and the chariot. Maybe he's already dead... He thought as he felt Bakura's heaviness on his arm, that was screaming for rest. They zoomed towards town and by the time they made it, the full moon was at its highest point in the sky. The horses were going slower than usual, tired from their journey and the events that had transpired.
They stpped in front of a stone house on the edge of town. The Nile glinted in the moon and starlight, turning silverish behind the house.
"We'll stop here for now." Atem announced. Marik nodded, his arms were numb from holding Bakura and the chariot, and attempting very hard to try and not fall off.
The door to the home opened up immediatly, and a girl of about 17 came out. She had cherry brown hair that was cut to the length of her jaw, wore a simple white tunic that was the length of about to her knees, and had dazzling dark chocolate eyes.
She bowed upon seeing Atem. "Pharaoh, what brings you here to my small home?" She slowly got back up. Hre voice sounded so gentle and sweet, like a sugar coated snowflake.
"Well, we're far from the palace right now," Atem began with his voice in a bit of a panic. "We don't have anywhere else to go and a friend of ours-"
"You can stay with me!" The girl interrupted him. "I'm sorry my Pharaoh, for interrupting, but it would be an honor."
"It's alright, and thank you." Atem said.
It seems this girl only notices Atem. Marik thought annoyed. Just because he's the Pharaoh, doesn't mean we should be ignored! She doesn't even notice Bakura who's out cold and all bloody! The Pharaoh ALWAYS gets all the attention... Maybe even if we did something heroic, HE'D still get the stupid credit. He thought jealously.
The girl led them inside, into a small living room. That was when she noticed Bakura and let out a gasp, as her dark chocolate eyes widened in alarm. She dashed over to Marik and assisted him in carrying Bakura, and lay on him a smooth, comfy couch.
"Oh my goodness, what happened to him?!" She asked as she ran off down a short hall to get supplies.
"We had an... An accident, if you will," Atem hesitated then continued. "One of our chariots crashed into a large boulder, he saved us." He finished as the girl came back, her arms full of gauze and other various medical supplies.
For a few moments, there was only silence as the girl tended to Bakura. When she finally finished, she stood up then dropped to the ground and bowed. "I am sorry, where are my manners?" The girl apologized sincerely. "I am Amun and I live here alone."
Atem nodded. "I'm-" Once again, he was interrupted by Amun.
"You do not need to tell me who you are, Atem. You are the Pharaoh! Everyone in Egypt knows your name!" She blushed slightly, a very faint pink appearing on her face. "Once again, I also apologize for interrupting you."
"No need," Atem informed her.
Doesn't Atem see that Amun likes him? Marik thought. She's obviously paying a lot of attention to him, she probably doesn't even notice me. Ugh stop being so jealous! He's the Pharaoh DUH! That's why he gets all the attention.
"This is Marik, a friend of mine." Atem introduced him to Amun. She gave Marik a quick glance and nodded.
"Nice to meet you," she said. "Oh yes! You must be hungry after your trip, I'll bring you all something to eat." She darted down a hall and came back a few minutes later with a tray of some cakes and glasses of water.
"Finally." Marik muttered too softly for anyone to catch. Atem and he took one cake and glass of water each. They munched on the tender, warm, soft cake that Amun must've reheated very quickly with fire.
"Thank you very much for your hospitality." Atem thanked her as he finished; Marik nodded his gratitude.
"You need not say that Atem. As a citizen under your rule, it's my job to serve you as best I can!" Amun replied grinning. She walked over to a nearby window and took in the sight outside.
The sky was still dark with silver stars glimmering along with the full moon, or Khonsu the Moon God taking the spotlight in the beautiful darkness.
"It's late, and you all must be exhausted." Amun inferred. "I'm afraid though, I only have two bedrooms total in my small home. Someone will have to share rooms, and I volunteer to share with either of you." She rose her hand slowly.
"It's alright, you don't have to Amun. This is your home after all, you should get a single room to yourself." Atem insisted. "Marik and I will share."
"But my Pharaoh-"
"No buts. It's your house we're in, and I insist you have a whole room to yourself."
Marik stood there with an annoyed expression etched clearly on his face, which Atem and Amun had not taken notice of. Finally Marik spoke up: "Atem, if she's insisting, then it would be rude to refuse her offer." He said in a much kinder tone than with the bitterness he felt inside.
"Yes, and it's just for one night Atem. I'll be fine." She blushed slightly as she thought positively that Atem truly did care for her.
"It's your home though, I'll share with Marik. I'll be fine sharing a room, nothing bad's going to happen." Atem was determined to win the small playful arguement.
"Great, now I'll get Bakura!" Marik decided that Atem was the winner, and walked with joy toward the couch that Bakura still upon, but was stopped by Amun.
"Don't!" She said firmly and with urgency in her voice. "He is very fragile right now, and the wounds I managed to seal could reopen and possibly worsen. Just leave him in the spot he is in, he should be fine in the morning."
Marik spun around on his heels and didn't complain. At least I don't have to carry him to bed, and we don't have to share a room with that Thief.
Amun gestured for them to follow, "I shall show you both your rooms for tonight." She led them down a short hallway defeated, and stopped at the end of it. There were three doors, one to the left, another to the right, and one in the center of the hallway at the end. She pointed to the door on their right, "This will be the room that the two of you will share, and that one is my room." She pointed to the door at the center of the hallway.
"Alright, good night Amun." Atem nodded and followed Marik who was already in their room.
"Good night, Atem and Marik." Amun said happily and went to go check on Bakura once again.
Atem gently closed the door behind him, and saw that Marik was already in bed with the blanket tightly wrapped around him. He glanced around the room that they'd been given by a new friend that they made.
The room was small with just a single bed, which lay precisly in the center of the guest chamber. The bed was simply a swampy green color of dyed cotton and a pure snow white. A window was to the right of the bed from the angle of those who stand and glance in the room in front of the door. The window revealed the glinting stars and full moon that seemed to glow. There was a small cherry brown table over to the left of the room, closest to Marik who was sleeping on the left side of the bed.
Atem sighed with exhaustion from the day's events, and walked sluggishly toward the bed. He fell on to the right side, and rapidly fell into a deep slumber.
