A Day at the Museum
Yugi Muto walked into the History Museum of Domino City. His Millennium Puzzle dangled from his throat as he paused at the front desk.
The Millennium Puzzle wasn't just a necklace or artifact from Ancient Egypt, it contained a spirit. The spirit of a pharaoh whom was called Yami, Yami-Yugi, or Yu-Gi-Oh. Yugi shared his body with Yami and knew that Yami would be there for him when Yugi needed him.
The man at the front desk greeted him, "Evening to you, are you here for the Ancient Egyptian event today?
"Yup!" Yugi replied cheefully, They came to the museum only because of a special event in the Ancient Egyptian exhibit. They were going to reveal a new artifact that had just been discovered recently.
"Well, we'll be revealing the new artifact any moment. Since I really would like to see it as well, you can just come with me." The man at the front desk got up and began walking down a hall.
"Thanks a lot!" Yugi said happily and followed him down the hall.
As they walked, Yugi began to talk to Yami in his head. Do you think they may reveal another Millennium Item? He asked Yami.
Millennium Items were powerful objects that held the infinite power of the pharaoh. There were seven Millennium Items (known) total. The Millennium Puzzle which Yugi posses, the Millennium Ring which a friend of Yugi's Bakura holds, the Millennium Rod which an evil person named Marik has, the Millennium Necklace whom Marik's sister, Ishizu who works for the light holds, the Millennium Eye who someone named Maximillion Pegasus has (also creator of "Duel Monsters") the Millennium Key and the Millennium Scale/Balance which a mysterious man named Shadi owns.
It could be, Yami replied. His voice was much deeper and stronger that Yugi's voice. Or it could be something else that could give a clue to my past, like a tablet or scroll.
Yugi nodded to himself and continued to follow the man from the front desk. Within a few moments, they arrived in the large Ancient Egypt exhibit. There was a colossal crowd close to the wall and Yugi pushed his way through gently.
There was a large, opaque black sheet covering a large portion of the wall. The museum curator came to the front and stood beside the sheet.
"Good evening everyone!" The curator said excitedly. "I'm happy to see that so many people came to our little event today!" He glanced all around the crowd. He looked about 50-60 years old with gray hair, and he was dressed like he was on an expedition to Egypt.
"The time has come to reveal our new artifact!" Yugi grinned warmly, he wanted to help Yami since he helped Yugi so much. He was sure that he could feel the excitement of Yami burning within him.
"Finally the time has come!" The curator announced. "Today we will reveal a piece of history that has not been seen in 3 millennia! I will count to three and pull the sheet off." He gripped the black sheet intensly, "One...Two...Three!" The sheet tumbled to the floor and what was on the wall astonished everyone.
It was a stone tablet with hiergolyphics. There was a picture depicting a pharaoh with spikey hair and 3 monsters above him. There was also a person opposite of the pharaoh with a dragon above the person.
Yugi was shocked, he realized the sorcer looked like Seto Kaiba and that the pharaoh looked like Yami. The Blue Eyes White Dragon was the monster above Kaiba. The monsters above the pharaoh were the Legendary God Monsters, Slifer the Sky Dragon, Obelisk the Tormentor, and The Winged Dragon of Ra.
That's me, Yugi, I know it. Yami told him in his head.
Yugi nodded, and that's Kaiba, the Blue Eyes White Dragon, and the three God Monsters. Yugi replied in his head, Everyone began chattering and it was so loud that Yugi and Yami could barely hear each other in their own minds.
Suddenly familiar laughter crashed over the chattering and soon no one was talking just as they once were a few seconds ago. Everyone turned around toward the source of the laughter to see who it was, and Yugi and Yami were both astonished at who was there.
It was Marik Ishtar. Yugi barely managed to spit out the words, "M-Marik?! H-How are you s-still-?!"
Marik laughed again, "I knew I'd find you here! What is it? Did you think you could get rid of me that easily?" The crowd looked at Marik and made room for him. He held the Millennium Rod and pointed it directly at Yugi. "You thought wrong if you did!"
He walked past Yugi calmly to stand beside the large, fragile stone tablet. Just then, Yugi's Millennium Puzzle flashed. Yugi was no longer there on the outside, it was Yami. They had switched places, they always did this whenever there was danger or a threat.
Yami was much taller than Yugi and looked fiercer as well. His voice was deeper and strong, perfect for giving commands and the orders being obeyed instantly.
"Marik!" Yami said in his epic, strong voice. "I don't know how you escaped and survived the punishment I gifted you last time, but I know this! This time you will get a much more severe punishment!" He began to pull the God cards out of his back pocket.
Marik warned him, "if you summon the Egyptian God Monsters, then this precious, delicate stone tablet will be destroyed!" He raised his Millennium Rod toward the exotic, irreplaceable tablet. "So hand over the God cards!"
Yami froze, he held the God cards right in front of him. His darker shade of purple eyes met Marik's lighter purple, lavender eyes. Everyone behind them was confused and frightened. Some spoke in hushed tones.
"What's going on?" A man had asked.
"Anyone notice something strange?" Another man asked.
"That guy looks like the pharaoh depicted in the tablet!" A woman pointed out. In a few seconds, the room was filled with gasps.
"Silence, you fools!" Marik shouted. Everyone immediately stopped talking and gasping and watched what was unfolding, silently. "Well? I'm waiting." Marik tapped his foot impatiently . His lavender eyes blazed and his pale blond hair was ruffled and wild.
Just one hit, one assault, the tablet would break. This may be my only key to find out about my past as pharaoh. Yami thought, Yugi was aware of what he'd said but did not respond. Yami grunted and finally said something. "Alright, M-huh?!" Before he could finish, he found himself moving closer to the tablet. He wasn't doing it on purpose of course, he was being dragged against his will by an invisible force. "What's going on?!" He asked genuinely puzzled.
Yami wasn't the only one confused though, Yugi, and even Marik along with the other visitors and tourists in the room were as well.
"What are you doing? Take another step and-" Marik broke off.
Yami's eyes widened as he got closer to the stone tablet. His hand that held the God cards went right through the tablet!
"I don't understand, myself, Marik! I only know that I'm not doing this on purpose, I'm being dragged against my will!" Yami responded, and his arm was slowly being devoured by the tablet.
Everyone suddenly gasped as they watched Yami be moderately devoured by an artifact, the stone tablet that had just been unveiled today. Suddenly Yami grabbed Marik by the wrist.
"What the-?! Let go of me!" Marik struggled to get free.
"I'm sorry, Marik, but I can't let you do any evil to innocents here while I'm away. So, wherever I'm going, you're coming with me!" Yami declared. Gradually the tablet swallowed both of them, and the last thing Yami saw was Yugi standing alone in the museum, without his Millennium Puzzle screaming their names.
"Yami! Marik!" Yugi screamed as they fell through a portal of sand created by the tablet. Both Yami and Marik blacked out as they plummeted through the swirling portal.
