Chapter 1: First Duel Pt1

It was only years ago when Jaden Yuki took down Darkness and freed everyone, graduated from Duel Academy and dueled Yugi Muto. After those times, everyone went down their own path in life. Sometime later, multiple duelists began to appear all over the world, wanting to enlist in the well-known academy. But that's not they're story, this story is about a young girl, wanting to be a great duelist. This is the story, of Lacus Ember.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I'M LATE, I'M SO LATE!" Shouted the hyperactive girl as she petaled on her bike as fast as she can. "Why didn't Mom or Dad wake me up!" She said to herself as she continued down the path towards downtown.

Meanwhile,

Over at a stadium, multiple kids and teens were all lined up Infront of the stadium. There was a banner that said, 'Duel Academy Enrollment Center.' At the back of the stadium, a young adult with light blue hair and a pair of glasses was currently sleeping. That was until a young woman with long blonde hair walked up to the sleeping adult.

"Syrus!" The adult, now named Syrus shot up on his chair before looking at the lady. "A-A-Alexis, I'm so sorry! I didn't get enough sleep last night because of the enrollment duels!" Syrus started to bow a lot of times. Alexis sighed a little before saying.

"I know, but you shouldn't be sleeping on the job." Then, out of the blue, Lacus came from the bushes on her bike before crash landing on the hard ground, with her bike crashing headlong onto a nearby pole.

"Owwwwww, that hurt." She said before getting up while dusting herself off. Both Alexis and Syrus looked at each other before back to Lacus. Alexis was the first to speak.

"You okay?" Lacus looked at the young adult before nodding. "Yep, just running la-." She couldn't finish her sentence as she remembered something. "AHHHHHH! I'M GOING TO BE LATE! DO YOU KNOW WHERE THE ENROLLMENT IS HAPPENING?!" She shouted. Clearly, she was in a panic, Syrus stepped up before saying.

"It's actually here Miss. Are you interested in coming to Duel Academy?" She looked at Syrus, luckily, she snapped out of her panic attack due to Syrus saying the enrollment was here. Then, she just realized something.

"OMG, Your Alexis Rhodes and Syrus Truesdale! Ah I'm so sorry I didn't recognize you both. My brain was clearly not thinking straight, since I was late because my parents didn't wake me up on time, so I had to hurry here, but by the time I left home I forgot my deck, so I hurried back home to get the deck so now I was even more late. Then I-."

She was clearly going to keep going if it wasn't for Alexis cutting her off. "Easy there, I think we understand your situation. But I think you should get going inside. You still have time before it ends." The Rhodes said. Lacus quickly nodded as she grabbed her bike before hurrying to the front. As she was doing that, she waved to the young adults with them waving back. "Oh, and my name is Lacus. Lacus Ember!" She said before leaving to the front.

"She has a lot of energy. We need that at DA." The young Truesdale commented. Alexis nodded before looking back at Syrus. "Do you got somewhere to be?" She commented as Syrus panicked before he rushed to the front. Alexis smiled before making her way inside of the stadium.

Inside the Stadium

Multiple duels we're happening all over the place, ones just starting and ones about to finish. On one of the arenas, a duel was ready to wrap up. "Time to finish this, Digital Partner- WarGreymon attacks you directly with Great Tornado!" Declared a girl with long drak brown in a ponytail as her Monster started to spin rapidly before charging towards the examiner's Monster, destroying it.

"Ahhhh!" The examiner was sent flying by the attack, decreasing what remains of his LP.

Examiner LP:0

Winner:Maire Amou

"Alright!" Said the girl before thanking the examiner for the duel. Lacus soon made it inside, panting very hard to catch air. "I made it, I need to sit." Lacus said before collapsing on a chair, catching more air as she breathed hard.

"You, okay?" Lacus turned her head towards the voice, seeing the girl standing right there. "Yeah, just trying to recover from rushing here." She replied. The new girl nodded as she took a seat next to Lacus before introducing herself.

"I'm Maire Amou, it's a pleasure to meet you." She said as she extended her hand for a shake, which Lacus accepted. "I'm Lacus Ember, it's a pleasure as well." Lacus said. Maire smiled as she asked a question.

"So, what brings you here?" Marie asked Lacus. But just before she could answer, a black-haired male with glasses collapsed Infront of the girls, shocking them. "Curse that duel..." Said the faceplanted male. The girls grabbed him before placing him on a seat. "You, okay? That must've hurt." Asked Lacus. The male looked over to Lacus before adjusting his glasses.

"Yeah, I'm okay. It's just that duel really tired me out. I could've finished the duel in 3 turns with the deck I have. But he had every answer to what play I have. I did win, but it took forever. I think I'm unlucky." Said the male. Lacus giggled a little. "I'm not trying to be rude, but maybe your deck was predictable or something." She said, causing the male to look at the ground more sadden.

"Well, I'm Lacus Ember. It's nice to meet you." She spoke. The male looked back at Lacus. "Name's Neils Gardehul." The male, now named Neils said. "I'm Maire Amou." Maire said. Soon after, they started talking about what is they're goal in Duel Academy. But just before any of them can answer, the loudspeaker sounded off.

"Lacus Ember to Arena 8, Lacus Ember to Arena 8." As soon as it finished, Lacus got up from her seat with a smile on her. "Game time, wish me luck you guys." She said to Neils and Maire as the ladder nodded. Lacus soon started to make her way to Arena 8.

Meanwhile,

"Chazz, I already said that you're not allowed to test a student with your actually Deck." Alexis said to a black-haired male, named Chazz. "Sorry Lexi, I already made up my mind. If that girl Syrus mentioned is like that Slacker, then it's my job to stop the plague of Slackers entering Duel Academy." He said in a very confident voice. Alexis, on the other hand, sighed. "Honestly Chazz, you haven't changed at all about Jaden. You just can't start calling everyone a Slacker because they reminded you of Jaden. But, if I can't change your mind, then you may use your deck to test her." She said in a defeated voice.

"Thank you, and maybe after I win, you and I can go-" Chazz was about to finish that sentence, if it weren't for Alexis giving him a death glare, causing Princeton's spine to shiver in fright. "O-O-On second thought, never mind." He said before dashing out of the tunnel, scared for his life. Alexis sighed before hearing a voice.

"You haven't let go of him, have you?" She turned to the source of the voice, to see someone in a wheelchair. "Zane! What are you doing here, you need to rest after your heart surgery." She said to Zane, with him chucking a little. "Don't worry, I'm being careful. Not like I have a choice to duel since then. But you haven't answered my question." He said in a serious tone. Alexis rested her back against a wall before taking out a picture, with everyone she met back in her time at Duel Academy.

"Guess not, I haven't let Jaden go." She said in a sadden tone. Zane rolled his wheelchair over to Alexis. "He'll be back, I know it. Come on, let's watch Chazz's duel against that girl." He spoke. Alexis looked at him before pocketing the picture. "You can go ahead; I still need to do some stuff." She said before turning around and walking away. Zane shrugged a little before heading out to see the duel.

At Arena 8,

Lacus waited in the arena with her deck shuffled and ready to go. But the thing that got her guessing was simple. Who's going to duel her? Until...

"Hello all future students of Duel Academy!" A loud voice echoed the dome. All eyes turned to the source of the voice, which was none other than, "Please make way for me! Chazz Princeton!!!" He soon made his way to the arena holding up his duel disk in the air. He soon stopped on his side of the Arena before speaking.

"So you're the future slacker I'm going to test." He spoke. She soon tilted her head. Slacker? Sure she has slacked off sometimes, but she always gets her stuff done before slacking off.

"Uhhhh, I don't get what you mean, Mr. Princeton." She said. Chazz scoffed a little before grabbing his deck and started to shuffle it. After sometime, he placed the deck into the Duel Disk, activating it.

"You will learn soon, let's get this show on the road!" He said. He soon drew his starting hand of 5 cards with his Life Points being set to 4000, with the same going for Lacus.

"Way ahead of you. It's time to start my legacy!" She said. While they were staring off against each other, everyone was watching, waiting for the duel to start. Maire and Neils can be heard cheering for Lacus, Zane and the other Duel Academy teachers were watching closely.

Elsewhere, a girl with blond hair wasn't watching the duel, just twirling a black rose. A Girl with raven black hair was watching the standoff, also waiting for the duel to start. On the other side of the stadium, a girl with long brown hair and glasses was talking to her friends while waiting for the duel to start.

In another part, a male with short black hair was among the people waiting for the duel to begin. Finally, at the stands where the Oblikse Blue students were at, a male, also with short black hair was looking at them. Mainly Lacus.

"It's been years, hasn't it, Lacus?" The male said to himself. Tensions were high, who was going to win this duel? What will happen in this duel? Well, it's about time to kick this off, because it's time to.....

"DUEL!"
