Obelisk Queen VS Slifer King
(This will be done by Syrus, Jaden and Alexis. Two people (Jaden and Alexis) who secretly love each other, though they don't admit it to each. I wonder what happens afterwards with these two. Hope you like it!)
Alexis POV
"....Ritual monsters, and effect monster," I said, finishing off what types of monsters there are in the world of Duel Monsters. "There are also several types of trap cards: continuous, counter and normal. Spell cards are also divided in normal, equip and quick play."
"Well done, Alexis," Crowler said, clapping his hands, with the rest of the Obelisk Blue students clapping along with him. "Of course, I expected nothing else from one of my Obelisk Blue students."
"Thank you, sir," I said, sitting back down.
"Now then, who should go next?" Crowler mused, looking around the room until he came to the Slifer Red students. None of them looked too keen on answering Crowler's next question, but he didn't seem to be taking his eyes off of them. I felt a little sympathy towards them - Crowler could be really cruel when it comes down to the Slifer's. Finally, he chose Zane's little brother, Syrus, who started freaking out.
"Syrus Truesdale, please explain to the whole class what a field spell does?" Crowler asked, a slight predatory look in his eyes.
Syrus stood up, but I could see that he was in truth really shaking. He looked so scared with every student in the class looking at him, and I could clearly see that some were holding in barely contained laughter. Chazz didn't seem to be doing anything mean - I mean, ever since he was beaten by the Supreme King, he seemed to be alright when it comes down to Jaden's friends. Even I was alright with Syrus, because I find him a little cute.
"Um...uh..." Syrus stammered, trying to find the right words.
"Well?" Crowler demanded. "Are you going to answer, or are you just going to stammer all day long? Well, that's always expected of a Slifer Red - they're all just a bunch of slackers. Every student should know what a Field Spell does."
"HEY!" Jaden yelled loudly, making every other student and Crowler jump. "Just because you're the head of Obelisk Blue, it does NOT mean that you can treat any of us Slifer Reds like trash! And in case you've forgotten, I beat you with a Field Spell and won in one round! Now shut up, and let Syrus speak, before I report you to Sheppard, and any hopes for you becoming the next Chancellor of this Academy are thrown out the window! And if I ever hear you say the word 'slacker' again to any Slifer Red student, then consider yourself preparing for another duel where you can get embarrassed in front of the whole class again!"
Everyone gaped at Jaden, probably thinking that they never expected Jaden to say something like that to a teacher. And by the looks of things, neither did Crowler. Crowler was about to give out a retort, but then suddenly realised that Jaden was deadly serious. Word was that Crowler wanted to become the next Chancellor of the Academy, but even one small negative report would cost him the job. I could see how Jaden had carefully and discreetly warned Crowler that if he disrespected the Slifers in any way shape or form, it would be the last thing that he did. And I know for a fact that being beaten by Jaden again in a duel would be humiliating for Crowler, because if I knew Jaden at all, it's that he sticks with his promises. Crowler kept his mouth shut, and nodded towards Syrus to answer the question.
Syrus was struggling to answer and and looked like he was about to give up, but then I saw something so kind that it melted my heart. It was an act of kindness that I rarely see nowadays, and I always knew that there were some good people out there in the world.
Jaden, who took out his deck, pulled three cards out and placed them in front of Syrus, who immediately looked at them. He checked for a few moments before finally smiling.
"A Field Spell affects the duelling field as well as the monster that's out on play," he said in a much confident voice. "For instance, the field spell card called Skyscraper: this Field Spell raises the attack points of a monster with Elemental HERO in its name by one thousand points when it attacks, but only when it's weaker than the opposing monster. Field Spells also keep a monster in play as well, if the monster has an effect thats makes the user lose Life Points, or if the monster gets sent back to the Deck or Extra Deck. An example of this is the Field Spell known as Neo Space: this gives a Neos fusion monster an extra five hundred points, and keeps it on the field, as its special ability forces the fusion monster back to the Fusion Deck at the end of the turn."
Crowler, who looked a little disappointed that Syrus actually answered his question, nodded and put on a fake smile. "Good answer, Mr Truesdale. But next time, don't look to your friend for help. Answer the question on your own, and by your own hard work. Because I won't tolerate any slack-"
Jaden coughed loudly, catching Crowlers attention again. Jaden raised one eyebrows.
"-any aided help in this class," Crowler corrected quickly. "You either learn on your own, or you don't come at all."
When he said that last line, he looked at Jaden. The guy was putting his deck away, whilst glaring at Crowler. Syrus sat down, looking slightly relieved that he got through. Jaden patted him on the back, smiling proudly.
I took the time to check out Jaden on my PDA tablet, when we had a fifteen minute break. It was a simple thing for me to do, since I knew my way around computers when going on social media websites. This guy honestly had something about him - according to his profile, he had a serious luck of the draw as I thought, and was able to draw the card that he needed most when he was losing. He turned out to be a fun kind of guy, though he does have his kind and thoughtful side when it came down to it. Though according to his profile, he could be serious about some things.
And not just that, but I found a video of his duel with Yugi. I quickly watched it, and still couldn't believe that he somehow managed to tie with Yugi, when everyone knew that Yugi was tougher than any other duellist in the world. After when I finished watching his duel, I looked up and saw him chatting with Syrus and a few of the Slifer Red students, who were crowding around him like he was their leader or something, which I wasn't surprised about - he had the looks of a leader. I heard them say thanks to him for sticking up for one of their own, some of them patting his back and shaking his hand. I could clearly tell how much Syrus looked up to him, because he listened to every word that Jaden said - taking in his advice, always appreciating his guidance and support.
And even though I didn't admit it, but I thought the guy was interesting...and handsome. He stood at an impressive height of 6'1; his dark brown hair was wild and untamed, with that slight shading of caramel on top; he made his Slifer Red uniform look punk-like: black jeans, black T-Shirt and that Slifer Red jacket that was longer than the rest, to the point where it was as long as Yugi's; and those eyes of his...it was like looking into a dream. They were a soft chocolate brown, both of them having a twinkle in his eyes that suggested mischievousness and playful humour.
But at the same time, they held a darkness in them, but not like the one I saw when he duelled against Chazz. I was surprised to see that, because he had that look in his eyes when I first met him at the Duelling Dome back in Domino City. He had a look of longing and sadness back then when he looked at the duelling arena, like it was an old memory or something. Even though he kept it hidden, I could clearly see it when me and him talked.
It made me wonder what he went through to make him look like that. I guess I could try and find out, but then again would I? He would immediately keep it secret and it would create an awkward tension between us.
Just then, it was time for Professor Banners lesson to begin, and for once, Jaden seemed to be interested. During Crowlers lesson, he seemed to be unconcerned about what the Obelisk Head was teaching, and only seemed to be interested in his deck, which I thought was a little rude. But then again, who would blame him? If someone tried to embarrass one of my friends in front of the whole class - especially if it was a teacher doing it - then I would've took no further notice to what he or she was saying.
Banner walked into the classroom, just as everyone was settling down and getting ready. His cat, Pharaoh stalked right next to him, purring loudly and meowing once in a while. It finally settled, to everyone's amusement, on Jaden's lap, making the poor guy sigh in annoyance, though he gave up and stroked the cat.
"Sorry, Jaden," Banner said with an apologetic look on his face. "But it looks like you're the chosen one with Pharaoh. You don't mind him sitting there do you?"
Jaden shook his head. "I don't mind."
I smiled. So he was a cat guy. Like I said before, this guy was seriously starting to interest me...

Syrus POV
"Damn, and I thought my day was going rough," Jaden sighed as he got changed into his gym suit. "First I had to put up with Crowler, then Banner almost caused an explosion in that alchemy lesson of his and now I have to deal with this? It might be my first day, but I could sure use a break!"
"Jaden, this is gym," Bastion said as he sat down on one of the benches waiting for me and Jaden to get ready. "What do you expect? Besides, you're already athletic, so this should be no problem for you."
Bastion was right: Jaden sure was athletic. While he took his ordinary top off, I could see that his chest and torso were slightly muscular. Jaden had the body of a runner, so that did mean that he was pretty fit.
"Bastion, I've travelled all around the world for the past two years," Jaden said in a sarcastic tone. "A lot can happen to you in that time. Especially when you're running in half of the adventures."
Suddenly, one of the other Slifer Red students poked his head round the corner. "Hey, is Jaden Yuki here?"
"Yeah, he's right here," I said, pointing to Jaden.
Jaden looked at the Slifer Red with a questioning look. "Can I help you, pal?"
"Yeah, Professor Banner said there was a mix up with your schedule. You weren't suppose to be in gym today. He's contacted Ms. Fontaine about this lesson - you've got this one off."
Jaden's eyes popped open in surprise. "Seriously? Sweet, I'm out of here then."
He quickly changed back into his Slifer Red uniform, and was about to walk out of the gym room, before he stopped and turned around to face me. He looked at my gym locker, before smiling faintly. He looked around the whole room, before looking directly at me.
"Syrus, I'm gonna need you to promise me something," he said.
I nodded, unsure about what he was about to ask of me.
"If you by any chance find a letter in your gym locker, immediately speak to me. There's a rumour going around that someone is handing out fame love letters, so if you get one by any chance, come to me."
I found the whole a bit strange, but then again I've learnt to trust Jaden on what he said. I promised him that I would do as he said, before he rushed out of the locker room with the other Slifer Red student.
And believe it or not, that's exactly what happened to me. It was at the end of the lesson when I went to go and get changed. I got out of my gym stuff and was getting changed, when I did indeed see a letter. It was sealed using what looked like lipstick kiss print, so that meant that Jaden was right about the whole "love letter prank".
Then again, I couldn't resist having a look at what it said. So I opened it up and started reading what it said.
Dear Jaden,
From the moment I have first known you, I have been in love with you. Everything you've done for the Slifer Reds is truly the kindest thing I have ever seen you do, and the way that you duel has truly inspired me.
Meet at the Girls Dormitories at ten o'clock tonight. Alone.
Love...
"...Alexis," I breathed out.
Oh jeez, Alexis has a crush on Jaden? Then again, I have seen Alexis looking at Jaden recently in class, and the time when Jaden was taken over by that spirit friend of his, when his clothes turned pure black and his eyes glowing yellow. Alexis looked concerned about Jaden's welfare at the time, so I knew she cared for him.
Then again, this letter could be a fake...
Then I remembered my promise to Jaden to give him this letter if I did get one. So I nodded to myself and immediately rushed off to find Jaden.
=============
Jaden POV
"Jaden," Yubel said next to me in her astral form. "Wake up. There's something wrong."
I woke up instantly. Thanks to the Supreme Kings presence inside of me, I was normally a light sleeper now, ready for anything. "What's up?"
Yubel looked around the room, making sure no one would come in. "I sense darkness on the island. Someone is here."
The Supreme King appeared looking just as grim. "She's right. Even I can sense it. It's faint, but it's definitely there."
I instantly didn't feel too good. Whenever they say there's trouble close by, they're normally right about it. In fact, it was thanks to them that they sensed where Paradox was when we were trying to track him down, since he stole some of my friends cards.
Speaking of which, I looked inside my bag pack and brought out a small metal tin, which contained two cards: Zane's Cyber End Dragon, and Jesse's Rainbow Dragon, the two cards that Paradox took from them while on his mission to kill Pegasus back in the past. I ached at seeing Rainbow Dragon - out of all the friends I had back in my time, Jesse was the one I ended up being the closest to, since me and him had been through so much in the Dark World Dimension. I didn't even manage to get it back to the Jesse in my time, so this was one of the only reminder I had of Jesse right now.
"Is there any way we can be able to track it down?" I asked the Supreme King.
The dark clothed spirit closed his eyes for a moment, before opening them again. "It's somewhere close by. Last time I sensed this kind of darkness was at that abandoned dormitory near the cliff side face."
"The Abandoned Obelisk Dorm," I said, sighing through my nose while I pinched it. "That place is not good at all. Yusuke summoned Nightshroud in that place. Now because of him, Atticus and several other Obelisk Blue students are missing. If I have to journey into that place again, then so be it. I just hope the Shadow Riders aren't using that place as a base for their meetings."
"And judging by our luck in our time, they probably are as well," Yubel said, sitting down in the bed next to me. "At least we'll be dealing with them together."
I nodded in agreement, just as Syrus knocked on the door of our shared bunk room with Chumley.
"Uh, Jaden?" he said, holding a letter up. "I have no idea how you knew, but you were right: there was a love letter in my locker. But it's addressed to you."
He gave me the letter, and I read it straight away. When I was done, I chuckled in disbelief.
"Yep, definitely a fake," I said. I turned to a confused Syrus. I held up the letter. "You can tell that it is. The handwriting isn't even Alexis's for one. Plus, why would she send me a love letter when we've only known each other for week? If I know Alexis at all well, she wouldn't do something like this. She would tell you face to face."
"Yeah, that is true," Syrus said, sitting down on the desk chair. "So who sent it?"
"I bet it was that obnoxious Crowler person," Yubel sneered in her spirit form beside me. "He had it in for you ever since you beat him in your duel with him."
"I agree," I thought back to her.
I looked at Syrus. "I have no idea who it was, Syrus. But you know what? I'm not the least bit bothered by it."
As I said that, I just remembered something. This was suppose to be the day when I duelled Alexis. Originally, Syrus thought that Alexis was asking him out, but it turned out it wasn't like that. So, in order to bait me out, Alexis, Jasmine and Mindy held Syrus hostage and threatened to report him to Sheppard, which would've gotten him expelled. I knew right there and then that Alexis wanted to duel me, just to see what I was made of. So, I duelled for both Syrus's sake and for Alexis's wish, and luckily won.
I knew I couldn't ignore that challenge, so I looked at Syrus, smiling deviously. "Now that I think about it, there's something you can do for me, Syrus. This could get Alexis in your good books for a long time."
Syrus looked up, wondering what I was thinking. "Yeah?" he said warily.
So I told him the plan, and at the end of it, he seemed to be okay with it, but was a little worried if it ended badly for him. I told him not to worry and he immediately went off to carry about the plan. In that time, I looked at my deck and started rebuilding it for the duel that was surely to come.
===========
Alexis POV
"Can you believe the nerve of that Jaden guy?" Jasmine said incredulously, as she was trying her hair from her time in the shower. "I've never seen someone with such rude manners before."
"Yeah, I thought he was really disrespectful towards Crowler as well," Mindy agreed, looking up from her book. "But then again, I thought that he was being kind towards that Syrus kid. And he stood up for the whole Slifer Red dorm too, so that's gotta be brave of him to do something like that, even if it meant him getting in trouble. What do you think Alexis? Uh, Alexis?"
I didn't notice of Mindy getting my attention. I was sitting at my desk, sorting my deck out. After reading about Jaden, I thought that I could restructure my deck to somehow counteract his, because I knew his deck was tough. I mean, Crowler lost to it; Chazz lost to it... For goodness sake, it matched Yugi's deck in strength and strategic strategies. I wondered how he even managed to construct a deck like that in the first place. So, I decided that if I could be able to challenge him, just to see how tough he really was, then I could see how he really duelled.
Then I thought about what happened today and on my first day here at the Academy. First, he managed to help Chazz, a guy whose ego and pride got the best of him, find the actual reason why duelling is fun. Then, he stood up for Syrus and every other Slifer Red at the Academy right in front of Crowler. To me, that was pretty much the bravest thing I've ever seen someone do in a long time.
"What are you thinking about, Lexi?" Jasmine asked from behind me. "Surely it can't be that Slifer Red guy?"
To hers and Mindy's surprise, I actually nodded. "The guy is just...so kind and thoughtful, you know? I've never seen anyone stand up for so many people before. It's like he's done this sort of thing in the past. And what surprises me is that he can make someone like Chazz become a better person and duellist."
"Yeah, I guess you're right," Jasmine admitted. "But you've gotta admit that he's a little rude. I mean, threatening a teacher? That's a little extreme, don't you think?"
"Well, what would you have done if a teacher says something bad about our dorm and embarrasses one of your friends in front of the whole classroom in the process?" I asked her seriously.
Jasmine thought for a moment, before she nodded. "You've got a point."
Suddenly, I heard the door to our dorm knocking. Since me and my friends where in the room closest to it, I walked out of our room and went to the front door. And to say that I was shocked to see Syrus standing on the other side was the understatement of the century.
"Syrus, what are you doing here?" I hissed quietly, looking frantically around in case Ms. Fontaine was nearby. "You're not allowed here!"
"I know that, but Jaden told me to come here," he said. "Plus, I owe him one for sticking up for me in class today."
I frowned. "Jaden sent you here? Why would he do that? Didn't he know that boys trespassing on the girls dormitories would result in you getting expelled?"
"He knew, but he told me that he'd stick up for me," Syrus said. "He said that he wanted you to see this."
He held up a letter, before handing it to me. I frowned at him.
"Why would he send me a letter?" I said, grabbing the letter and reading it.
"Someone tried to get him expelled, and he found out somehow," the blue-haired kid explained. "He knew the letter wasn't from you, and he sent me over here just to let you know, in case someone found out and told stories about it."
I finished reading the letter, disgusted at what I read. "Well, it was a good idea that Jaden knew it wasn't me. Besides, why would I write in a childish writing like that? Anyway, thanks for letting me know."
He nodded. "You're welcome. And there is one other thing that Jaden sent me over here for."
I looked at him, curiosity on my face. "And that would be...?"
"He asked if you wanted to duel him," Syrus answered. "Tonight, at the docks, ten o'clock."
I was stunned. How did Jaden know that I was thinking about duelling him? It was as if he was thinking the same thing I was. Then I remembered that Jaden told me to get my game on if we ever did agree to a duel, and I was feeling rather excited about it now. Rather than me waiting to duel him, he instead sought me out for it. He was sure making an impression.
"Alright, I'll meet him there," I smiled. "Let me just get ready."
Syrus nodded and ran off into the distance.
I closed the door and walked back into mine and my friends room. When they saw the excited smile on my face, they frowned in confusion.
"Okay, what's gotten you this happy?" Mindy asked.
I instead grabbed my duel disk and my completed deck, strapping the disk on my arm and inserting the deck in it. I had never been this excited since my brother introduced me to Duel Monsters when we were kids, and I was so determined to duel against possibly one of the most toughest duellists of my life.
I was about to walk out again, until I turned around and faced Jasmine and Mindy. "Syrus told me that Jaden has requested for that duel I promised him at the Entry Examinations. I'm going over to the docks right now to meet him."
Jasmine looked at me wide-eyed. "Syrus was here? A boy at the girls dormitories?! Is he out of his mind?"
I didn't answer. I just ran out of my room, and rushed out of the dorm, running towards the docks.
=========
I arrived at the docks, just a few minutes early than I would've thought. The docks were empty - no ships whatsoever. In front of me we're two ramps that people or students would stand on to wait for the ships to come, but to some students it resembled a duelling field. I thought that it had a great setting to it, because it the water between the two docking bays and it would test the balance of the two competing duellists.
And standing on one of the two docking bays was none other than Jaden Yuki.
He wore his now custom red jacket and black jeans. Unlike all the other Slifer Red students who wore white jeans, he wore black jeans so it made him stand out from all the other students. His hair blew in the slight wind that flowed in the air, and he looked at me as I took my place on the other docking bay, his eyes never leaving me for a second.
"Hello, Alexis," he said, smiling.
"Hi, Jaden," I smiled back. "So, what Syrus said was true? You really do want to duel me?"
"Well, you wanted to," he shrugged. "Besides, it was a promise to keep. And I intend to stay true to it."
"I was beginning to think that we wouldn't have our duel," I said, as I primed my duel disk. "You sure do keep to your word, Jaden. Although, it would've been better if you actually would've come round and challenged me yourself, instead of having Syrus do it for you."
"I wanted him to be in your good books," Jaden said. "The letter was in his locker, so he came to me about it. I decided that it would be best if he told you about it, and...you know, just make sure that word of the story doesn't get out."
"Well, don't worry about that," I said. "Syrus is in my good books from now on. And as promised, I'm gonna get my game on in this duel. You might have beaten Crowler and Chazz, but let's see how well you duel when you're up against a female duellist."
He nodded, his duel disk extending and glowing. "Alright, Alexis. Don't hold anything back - come at me with everything you've got, because it's time to really get your game on!"
Alexis: 4000 LP
Jaden: 4000 LP
"Ladies first," he said, drawing five cards from his deck and waiting for me to make my move.
"Alright then, let's see," I said, drawing six cards from my deck and looking at them. I mentally leaped with joy as I saw Etoile Cyber, Polymerization and Double Passé among the six cards cards. I just needed one more card to make my signiture monster. I just hoped that I can draw it. For now, I was going to defend myself.
"I summon Etoile Cyber in attack mode!" I announced, placing my monster on my duel disk. "Come on out, old friend!"
My dancing warrior came out, spinning like a ballerina before stopping to face Jaden.
(Etoile Cyber - 1200/1600)
"Then I'll place one card facedown before ending my turn," I said, placing Double Passé down on the field.
Jaden nodded, before drawing his sixth card. He looked at it, and I didn't like that smile on his face. It meant that he was going to pull off a big move. I just hope that it wasn't a huge move.
"I summon Elemental HERO Prisma in attack mode!" he shouted.
In front of Jaden, a winged figure made entirely out of crystal emerged, crystal spikes made up for his elbows and looking slim.
(Elemental HERO Prisma - 1700/1100)
Okay, I thought to myself. He's summoned a monster that's five hundred points stronger than my monster. Thankfully that I have Double Passé facedown on the field.
"If you're relying on that facedown card you've got out, you can forget it," Jaden said, making me blink in surprise. "I place one card facedown, and then activate the spell card known as Mighty Hero!"
The new spell card showed the image of his Flame Wingman, surrounded by on onslaught of storms and tornadoes.
"With this card, if I control an Elemental HERO out on my field, I can destroy two facedown magic or trap cards on either side. So I chose your facedown, and my facedown."
What?! How did he do that?! It was like he was reading my mind or something! If my facedown is gone, my monster is in dire trouble!
My trap card got blown away by a massive gust of wind. The same thing happened to Jaden's card.
"And thanks to the fact that my facedown card was Dummy Marker, I get to draw a card from my deck if it is destroyed by a card effect while it's facedown." He drew a card from his deck, so now he had four cards in his hand. "Next I activate my Prisma's special ability: by sending one fusion material monster from my deck to the graveyard, I can change Prisma into that very monster. So I send Elemental HERO Sparkman to the graveyard, and Prisma is now considered as Sparkman."
Suddenly, his monster started to glow and changed its shape. I was blinded for a moment, before the light died and I was met with a new sight. His Prisma definitely changed its appearance, now taking the form of a dark blue figure, with gold armour plating on him, electricity running across him.
"Now, I activate Polymerization!" Jaden said, showing me the fusion card in his hand.
Uh-oh, I thought to myself. Jaden uses a lot of fusion monsters, and I knew he was going to bring something powerful out.
"Now I fuse together Elemental HERO Avian and Bubbleman in my hand, with Elemental HERO Sparkman on my field!" Jaden said, and I couldn't help but notice that the winds picked drastically. "And together, they'll create a HERO that can ride the winds of a very storm!"
Two cards in his hand shot right into the sky, with Elemental HERO Sparkman joining them. They vanished in a cyclone of wind.
"Yeah, and there he is!" Jaden said, punching the air. "The mighty Elemental HERO Tempest!"
His newest monster roared as it appeared out the blowing winds. It looked super strong, with what looked like a blaster instead of a fist on its right fist. It's feet were taloned and muscular, it's arms were bare and it had a massive set of wings on its back. It's face had a visor on it, and it's hair was as wild as the wind.
(Elemental HERO Tempest - 2800/2800)
"Whoa," I breathed out, stepping back a little whilst looking at his monster in awe. "Okay, I've seen some tough monsters in my life, but that Tempest definitely takes the title of tough."
"Just you wait," Jaden smirked, before pointing right at Etoile Cyber. "Because I'm having him take out your monster. Tempest, attack Etoile Cyber with Glider Strike!"
His monster shot right into the sky, its wings extending into sharp blades, before shooting down and zoomed towards my monster. It guided on the water, making it ripple madly, before it collided into Etoile Cyber, who let out a scream before disintegrating, which created a shockwave of energy which pulsed around the docks. I was caught in it, and I had to cover my face as it slammed right into me.
Alexis: 2400 LP
Jaden: 4000 LP
I groaned as I managed to stay upright, looking at Jaden.
Okay, I guess Chazz wasn't joking when he said Jaden was tough," I admitted. He's already got the upper hand. I need a good card in order to win, otherwise that Elemental HERO Tempest of his will blow me away!
===========
Jaden POV
I looked over the playing field, watching Alexis as she looked at the cards in her hand. I knew she would have Double Passé ready for me if I attacked her monster, so I was fortunate that I had Mighty Hero out to help me. Now all I had to do is make sure Tempest stayed on the field long enough so I could come with a strategy. I just hope such a strategy would come to me in time.
I looked at my hand: Card Of Sanctity was in my hand. If Alexis summoned her signature monster out, then things would get interesting. Well, guess there's no way I can stop that from happening.
"I activate Card Of Sanctity," I told her, showing the coins raining from the sky magic card. "And thanks to this very handy spell card, we both draw cards from our decks until we're holding six of them. So that's six for me, and two for you."
I drew my six cards, while Alexis drew her two. I knew that she drew Blade Skater and Fusion Weapon, because it was in the same order as I remembered the first time I duelled her. I also know that she had Polymerization in her hand as well. If she drew Monster Reborn on her next turn, then Cyber Blader would be on the field in no time.
"And then I'll throw down three facedown cards," I said, placing Hero Signal, Jar Of Greed and De-Fusion on the field facedown. "Hope the cards you drew were good ones, because you're gonna need it if you want to take my Tempest out."
Luckily, I had Heroes Wish, Polymerization and Battle Fusion in my hand. If something were to happen to Tempest - which I know was going to happen - then I'd be ready.
Alexis looked at her cards, nodding to herself. "Alright, here I go!" She drew her card, and instantly sigh in relief. "This is it, Jaden. I know that Elemental HERO Neos is your signature, and that you've got a bunch of other powerful cards in your deck, but I'm about to bring out mine. I play Monster Reborn, so I can bring back Etoile Cyber in attack mode!"
Her monster jumped out of the water, looking graceful and ready to do some damage.
(Etoile Cyber - 1200/1600)
"Next, I activate Polymerization to fuse her, and Blade Skater in my hand together to summon my ace!"
Etoile Cyber and one of the cards in Alexis's hand shot into the sky, as they twirled together in a flash of light.
"Meet Cyber Blader!" Alexis shouted.
Her monster appeared, landing on the water and looking ready to strike my monster down with a powerful kick in the stomach.
(Cyber Blader - 2100/800)
"Yeah, I know she doesn't have enough kick to take your Tempest out, but she will do once I activate this!" she said, showing me her next magic card. "By adding the power of Fusion Weapon to her, she gains fifteen hundred attack and defence points, making her stronger than Elemental HERO Tempest!"
(Cyber Blader - 3600/2300)
"Cyber Blader, attack Tempest with Whirlwind Rage!"
Her monster starting twirling like made, so it kind've reminded me of a tornado in some way. It was about to hit my monster until-
"I activate Tempests special ability!" I said quickly. "By sacrificing a card on my side of the field, like my facedown Hero Signal, Tempest isn't destroyed!"
Alexis's monster landed a hard kick in Tempests stomach, but the tall HERO took it in and didn't make a word. However, I still lost Life Points - eight hundred of them.
Alexis: 2400 LP
Jaden: 3200 LP
"Your turn, Jaden," Alexis said. "Now I have the toughest monster on my side."
"We'll see about that, Alexis Rhodes," I said, drawing a card from my deck. I looked at it, and saw that it was Elemental HERO Burstinitrix. "I activate my facedown card, Jar Of Greed! And thanks to this card, I get to draw one additional card from my deck."
I looked at my deck, hoping for a good card. And you know what, it still hasn't let me down after all this time, because I drew my next card, and saw to my amazement that it was Fusion Recovery.
"Alright, I activate my Heroes Wish spell card!"
My newest magic card had he image of an Elemental Hero holding a card in both his hands.
"Thanks to this, by sacrificing my Tempest and one facedown card, I get to draw a card from my deck," I said. I looked up at my monster. "Thanks for your help, pal."
He nodded and vanished along with my facedown De-Fusion card, and at the same time, the top card of my deck glowed, so I drew it and I was thankful for the card because it happened to be the one I needed.
"Now I activate Dark Factory Of Mass Production! With this, I get to add two Normal-Type monsters from my graveyard and add them to my hand. So I'll add Elemental HERO's Avian and Sparkman from the graveyard to my hand."
Two glowing cards shot out of my graveyard section and flew right into my hand. Now I had all the pieces to summon the one monster that I can use to win this duel.
"Now I activate Fusion Recovery, which lets me add a Polymerization and one of the fusion monsters I used to summon Tempest, like Bubbleman. And now I activate Polymerization, to merge Avian and Burstinitrix together to summon...Elemental HERO Flame Wingman!"
My old signature monster appeared in front of me, his dragon head arm breathing fire and looking strong and fierce as ever.
(Elemental HERO Flame Wingman - 2100/1200)
"Hey, I know that monster!" Alexis said, looking at Flame Wingman. "That's one of the monsters you used in your duel with Yugi!"
"That's right," I said, smiling at her amazed look. "But as strong as this Wingman is, he can still get stronger. I activate my second Polymerization to fuse him and Elemental HERO Sparkman in my hand to create a Hero brighter than the sun!"
Sparkman appeared on the field briefly alongside Flame Wingman, before both were warping into a circle of power. A seriously bright light appeared in between Alexis and me, making her cover her eyes with her duelling arm.
"Come forth, Elemental HERO...SHINING FLARE WINGMAN!" I bellowed, raising my hand in the air as the light intensified.
=============
Alexis POV
"...SHINING FLARE WINGMAN!"
My eyes widened as he shouted the name of his new monster. The light died down and I was in awe of the monster that now floated in front of him.
It was almost made entirely of light, it's body pulsing the bright energy, lighting up the night sky. It's wings were like shiny blades and as it looked up at me, it gave out a sort of high pitch screech as it landed next to Jaden with its arms at its sides.
(Elemental HERO Shining Flare Wingman - 2500/2100)
"Now that is a monster," I breathed out. Then I smirked. "However, it's still not strong enough to take Cyber Blader out."
Jaden gave me a devilish smile. "You might want to reconsider that thought."
I frowned in question. "What do you mean?"
"You see, this card is my oldest signature monster before I opted for Neos," Jaden said, his eyes closed. "And you know what? It still is, because for every Elemental HERO that's just chilling back in my graveyard..." He opened his eyes, and pointed at Flare Wingman. "...Shining Flare Wingman gets an extra three hundred points!"
I gasped. Oh god, he has six HERO's in his graveyard, and that means his Shining Flare Wingman gets eighteen hundred points stronger!
(Elemental HERO Shining Flare Wingman - 4300/2100)
"And here's the cherry on top!" Jaden said, pointing at me. "Even though your monster doesn't get destroyed since I own a monster on my side of the field, I can still deal damage to you! So go, Shining Flare Wingman! Show her how we do things back home! Attack Cyber Blader with Solar Flare!"
His monster raised one of its fists and shot a massive surge of blinding white light energy towards my monster. It engulfed Cyber Blader, making it cry out as it was blinded. The surge of light continued on towards me, and I cried out as it hit me directly.
Alexis: 1700 LP
Jaden: 3200 LP
I looked back up at Jaden, his hands on his hips. I couldn't believe it - just when I thought I had turned the tables in my favour, he comes around and changes it completely. I was amazed at how well he was duelling, and I was fully convinced that he was a tough duellist.
"And to end my turn, I'll throw down a facedown," he said, placing one card down. "It's your move, Lexi."
I looked at my deck, praying for a good card. I drew, and I immediately smiled with joy. It was Premature Burial, which would revive a monster from my graveyard by a cost of eight hundred of my Life Points. At this point, using Life Points didn't faze me. I was determined to win this duel. If I could get rid of that Elemental HERO of his, then he would be on the defensive for a while. That would give me enough time to wipe him out from the duel.
"I activate Premature Burial! With this, I can revive Etoile Cyber by paying eight hundred of my Life Points, which I'm willing to pay!" I announced.
Alexis: 900 LP
Jaden: 3200 LP
My dancing monster came back to life, awaiting instructions.
(Etoile Cyber - 1200/1600)
"Then I play this: Gift Of The Martyr! Thanks to this spell, by sacrificing my Etoile Cyber, I can add her attack points to Cyber Blader for this turn. That makes my monster stronger than yours!"
(Cyber Blader - 4800/2300)
"It's time to end this!" I shouted, pointing at Shining Flare Wingman. "Cyber Blader, destroy his Shining Flare Wingman with Whirlwind Rage!"
My monster rushed forward, ready to strike a powerful kick right at Jaden's monster. I thought I was going to win, but I was so wrong.
"You've just lost," Jaden smirked.
My eyes widened. "What? How?"
He pointed down at his facedown, which stood upright. When I saw what it was, I was floored.
"It's the spell card known as Battle Fusion," he explained. "With this card, if my fusion monster gets attack by one of my opponents monsters, my monster gains the attack point total of that attacking monster. Since Cyber Blader has forty eight hundred attack points thanks to all those enhancement spells you played, Shining Flare Wingman gains all those attack points, bringing it up to ninety one hundred!"
His monster glowed even brighter as it let out one of its high pitched screeches, as its attack power rose dramatically.
(Elemental HERO Shining Flare Wingman - 9100/2100)
"Holy..." I gasped. "There's no way my monster can skate around that attack!"
"Exactly," Jaden said. "It's lights out for your Skater! Shining Flare Wingman, ATTACK!" His voice echoed through the cold night air.
His monster rushed forward, glowing with a bright light as it became a massive stream of energy. My monsters eyes widened, and she shrieked as the light stream smashed right into her, making her explode into particles. The light continued onwards towards me, the shockwave of power making my hair and clothes ripple from the wind. I closed my eyes, accepting that I lost fair and square, just as the surge of light reached me, and made me lose my balance, making me fall on my back.
Alexis: 0 LP
Jaden: 3200 LP
I opened my eyes, looking at the starry night sky. I just lay there, a smile on my face as the last of my Life Points went down to zero. The duel with Jaden was quite possibly the most fun I ever had. Even though I lost, I could do exactly what he told Chazz - just keep getting trying until I could win.
Suddenly, I saw a hand in front of me, extending towards me. I looked to my right, and saw Jaden crouching down, giving me that signature smirk of his, his hand outstretched. We just stayed like that for a moment, just looking at each other. I couldn't find myself to look away from those eyes of his: the eyes of someone who has seen so much in his life, and the kindness I saw in them. I grabbed his hand, and he immediately pulled me to my feet.
"I thought I had you, but you won fair and square, Jaden. You really are a challenge, and it was a challenge that I enjoyed wholeheartedly," I said to him.
Jaden just looked at me, and for once, I could hear my own heartbeat loud and clear. It was beating like mad, just by looking at him. I swear...it was almost as if I've had this feeling before and that I've somehow...seen him before. I knew that was impossible, but I couldn't shake the feeling off of me.
"I haven't said this in a while, but you've got game, Alexis Rhodes," he said, still holding my hand.
That comment made my heart flutter madly. He just said a compliment, but it was like he said those words before and it somehow made me remember something about duelling. That there was only one time when someone said something that would always stay in your heart.
"Thank you," I softly said.
He nodded, and let go of my hand, turning around and started walking away. I looked down at the ground, just thinking about his duelling strategy and the feeling that I knew him from somewhere...until he looked over his shoulder.
"Alexis?" he asked, getting my attention.
I looked back up at him. "Yeah?"
I could see his smile, even though he was looking over his shoulder. Then, he extending his arm out and gave me a thumbs up, winking at me.
"See you tomorrow."
So, what do you guys think? Yeah, I know it could've done with a bit more action, but you know what it's like when it comes down to Jaden and Alexis. They're pretty much the main couple in the GX story as it is.
Once again, I cannot express how grateful I am to all of you who have read this story. I only just started this book like almost a few weeks ago now, and already this book has done amazingly well. So, thanks guys!
Also, be sure to continue reading Lumaking7 works, because has done so well too. I've worked hard with this person, and I'm glad to have read her stories.
Cheers folks,
Robert
