Jake's POV

I came home to see Dad on the couch. Usually, he's watching TV as he eats some healthy snacks. When I was little, Dad used to drink beer while Mom constantly scolded him for drinking so early in the day. After she died... Dad never picked up a beer again. But when he's distraught or something's wrong, he sits in front of the TV in silence. Just staring into the dark abyss of the TV. It's... slightly creepy, but it's my dad.

When I walked inside the house, Dad turned to me with a smile of relief. "Jake, how was it?"

"Hanji's a great person. I can see why someone can fall in love with her."

"And... did you see the boy?"

"Black hair and silver eyes?" I asked as Dad nodded his head. "I did. He was driving her home. Like he's a chauffeur. He... he had the eyes of a killer. He took one look at me, and I saw that he wanted to kill me. You weren't joking about me possibly dying at his hand."

Dad nods his head, letting out a huge sigh. "You can still get out of-." He was cut off as a notification came from his laptop. The blood ran from his face as he quickly reached for the laptop. "No... no..." He mumbles under his breath as he types.

"Dad, what's going on?"

"I had Saye put an alert on your name. Whoever looked you up, we can see where the person searched your name."

"And?"

"It's coming from the Zoe Household. I fear it's the Ackerman searching for you." Dad quickly looks up at me, nearly shaking with fear. "Jake, you can still leave this before it gets bad. He's going to track you, and I'm afraid I might not protect you." 

I shook my head, " No, I'll stay. If this is what he's doing, then Hanji's in more danger than we thought. We have to protect her. Capturing and killing the Ackerman will protect her, correct?"

"If we kill him, we risk the rage of his uncle. It's war once we kill him. Are you up for the task, Jake? There's no turning back."

"Dad, count me in."
