Chapter 16 - They're Eveywhere
just saying i changed the friend's name to Hitoshi instead of Usui bc yeah. Enjoy :D
(barely edited lol)
"Soo..." Hitoshi mumbled. "What are your new friends like?"
"Oh, they're so nice, and really funny. But some of them can be annoying sometimes, because they're kind crazy, an act embarrassing wherever they are. They're quite loud. How about you?" I reply, taking a piece of my cinnamon bun.
"They're ok I guess. My school is mostly guys so I don't have many girl friends. The atmosphere is kinda... Boisterous?" He explains, and I nod.
"Yeah, I heard Seika only opened up to girls recently." I remember. "Well, my friends are actually mostly boys too, I only have one girl friend. But there's nothing wrong with that, I love my guy friends."
"Hmm... I see...". He seems kinda sad for some reason.thinking about something.
"What's wrong?" I ask, reaching a hand over to his.
"Huh? Oh nothing. Well, I'm glad we're still friends though." He smiles at me, and pats my hand which lays atop of his. I take another bite of my tasty treat, and notice him looking at me.
Blushing, I scowl slightly. "Toshi! Stop it! You know I hate it when people stare at me when I eat!" I cover my face with my hands.
"Yeah but it's funny when you get embarrassed. It's cute." He laughs, and I shake my head.
"You haven't changed..." I sigh, rolling my eyes.
"Young love is the sweetest, especially when they don't realise it themselves." Julie say aloud from the kitchen, looking in our direction from the counter. Her friend chuckles next to her as me and Hitoshi sit up, shocked.
"Oh no, it's not like that. We're just friends!" I laugh nervously, waving my hands in front of me, while Hitoshi just nods. Julie laughs and turns back to cleaning the coffee machine. She loves to mess with us.
I'm chatting nicely with Hitoshi, him teasing me sometimes through our conversations, until some people I didn't expect to see here today came through the door.
"Hahah, yeah that was so embarrass-"
"(Y/n)!" They all cry as they tumble in through the small glass door. Me and Hitoshi are surprised at the sudden loud atmosphere. However, once I realise who it is, I just sigh.
"What do you guys want?" I ask, standing up as the host club line up in the small cafe.
"We went to your house to see if you wanted to hang out" Kaoru says
"But no one was there." Hikaru finishes.
"We really wanted to see you, so we rounded everyone up and came looking for you. If my sweet daughter was missing, what would I do?!" Tamaki blubbers as he runs over and hugs me like a boa constrictor. I roll my eyes.
"I literally saw you guys yesterday..." I deadpanned, and spoke monotonously. They ignored me though, too absorbed in their world, as usual.
"I told everyone I thought I saw (y/n)-Chan in a cute cafe, so we all came here to see if you were here." Honey walks over to me and hugs me as well.
"Honey also said you were bright red, and we had to make sure no one had humiliated you!" Tamaki gasps at the thought, and I look at Hitoshi. He nods and chuckles.
"Oh yeah, who's this dude?" The twins say at the same time, standing either side of my childhood friend and inspecting him curiously.
"This is Hitoshi. He's my friend from my old school. Please be nice." I say, and they look at him interestedly.
"Hitoshi Ando. 1st year at Seika high school. Grade A student. Nice to meet you, I'm Kyoya Ootori." Kyoya puts his phone away after creepily looking up Hitoshi on the internet and holds out his hand. Hitoshi looks at him confusedly, before shaking his hand slowly.
The rest of the hosts introduce themselves, and we have to join a few tables together, so we call all sit as one.
"So, when did you meet my precious daughter?" Tamaki asks, propping himself up on his hands. He bats his eyelashes as he leans forward, waiting for an answer.
"We met in the first year of middle school... And daughter? What the...?" Hitoshi replies, confused. Maybe I didn't emphasize how weird my friends were...
"It's a long story." I sigh, rolling my eyes.
After the host club bombarding Hitoshi with many questions, I notice him becoming quite uncomfortable.
"Um guys, that's enough questions for one day I think." I chuckle nervously. Hitoshi smiles at me and I smile back.
As I say this, Julie comes sauntering over, a grin on her face.
"And who might these fine young men b-?" She looks over to me, narrowing her eyes.
Tamaki stands up. "Well, as you asked, we are (y/n)-" he begins grandly, but he is interrupted.
"I wasn't asking you, blondie." She glares at Tamaki, causing him to sit down with a whimper, and in a split second continues smiling at the rest of my friends.
"These are my friends from my new school." I smile, and she nods as I introduce them.
"Well it's nice to meet you. Most of you seem to be lovely." She shoots one more glare at Tamaki, before walking away. "Let me get you all some tea."
Tamaki looks up warily, to make sure if she's gone. I forgot that Julie hates it when people interrupt her. She's very big on manners.
"She was scary." He mumbles, looking at me.
"Well, you interrupted her. Don't worry, she's not really scary, she just finds it funny when people think she is." I explain, and he nods. "Better to go along with it though, or then she really will dislike you."
Nodding, Tamaki sits back up before Julie comes back. She hands around tea and we all thank her. From the corner of my eye, I see Tamaki silently sip his tea, keeping an eye on Julie, as to make sure not to make a mistake.
After lots of talking, we're told that Julie is shutting the cafe, and that we need to leave. We all thank her, and stand outside the cafe.
"You seem pretty friendly with her. What was her name again, July?" Kyoya states as we're walking along. I nod.
"Julie. I've known her since like halfway through middle school. Me, Toshi and our other friends used to go there everyday after school, so she's kinda like an aunt or something to me." I explain, and he nods.
"This is your old school, is it not?" Gesturing towards my old school as we pass it, I nod once more. "Was it hard?"
Confusedly, I look towards him. "Was what hard?"
"Moving school? Having to make a whole new group of friends and that." He looks away slightly, as if it's a question he thinks he shouldn't ask.
"Well, no harder than you moving to Ouran too, I'd imagine." I say, smiling. He nods, and a teeny smile pulls at the corner of his fine lips.
Honey turns round to look at us as we're walking. "Whatcha talking about?" He asks, slowing to hold my hand.
"Nothing much." I smile widely.
"Your friend seems really nice, (y/n)-chan." He sings happily as he swings our arms. "He gets on really well with Usa-Chan too!"
Looking up, I see Hitoshi with Honey's stuffed bunny in his hands, carrying it carefully. I don't know if Hitoshi knows Honey's age, but it doesn't really matter as long as they're getting along, right?
"Takashi, you like Hi-chan too, don't you?" Honey cheers, and Mori turns to look at us. He nods.
"Mm."
Hitoshi also looks around. "Hi-chan??"
"Honey gives everyone nicknames." I smile, and Hitoshi nods, turning back to walking. Hikaru slows down to ask him a question in a hushed voice. I can't hear what it was, but it seems to embarrass him slightly, as he runs a hand through his hand and chuckles nervously before shaking his head. It's probably just Hikaru working up his mischief again.
As we turn the corner, we come across a car park, where a long black limo is parked. I wonder who that belongs to hmm??
"Well," Tamaki begins, going to shake Hitoshi's hand, "It was a pleasure to meet you." Hitoshi nods and shakes his hand. I forgot to say, Hitoshi's kinda awkward new people, he's quite quiet in all honesty until you get to know him. However, he did seem to talk to the club more than I would've expected him to. Maybe moving schools helped him open up?
Tamaki then turns to me. "As for you, my precious daughter, I shall see you tomorrow." He does a close eye smile before hugging me.
Hikaru comes up behind him and pulls him off me. "C'mon Boss..." He rolls his eyes as he drags Tamaki away from me. "See ya round, (y/n)." He winks at me as he climbs into the limo.
Everyone else says their goodbyes to us before climbing into the limo. Haruhi is left last.
"Bye, (y/n). It was lovely meeting your friend." She smiles over at him.
"Yeah, see you tomorrow. Oh! My mom asked if you wanted any lifts to school?" I say as I hug her farewell.
"Like a lift share?" She asks, and I nod excitedly. "Well, if it's okay with your parents. I wouldn't want to be a burden..."
"Of course it wouldn't." I cheer, and she smiles. "See you tomorrow before school." She nods before leaving and getting into the limo.
Once everyone drives off, I turn back to Hitoshi. He rubs his neck awkwardly as the limo speeds round the corner.
"Some friends got there." He gestures to the direction they drove off in. "I get what you mean by being pretty loud and crazy."
"Yeah. I love 'em though." I say, linking my arm with Hitoshi's as we walk again.
"A few of them seem pretty into you..." He looks off to the side, and I look up at him confusedly.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, they all seem to want your attention a lot. I don't know if that's just a rich kid thing but, those twins and the blonde one are always trying to talk to you." He explains.
"Oh no, that's just them." I assure him. "They just love being the centre of attention."
"And the small kid, what's up with that?" He must be talking about Honey.
"Oh, I know it seems kinda strange but Honey is actually the oldest out of all of us." He looks at me in disbelief, and I laugh slightly. He realises im being completely serious, and just makes a face as if to say 'oh, alright then.'
"Also, can I ask one more question?"
"You just asked one." He rolls his eyes. "But yeah, sure."
"Which one was a girl?" He seems awkward, as if he thought it might be a big secret or a risky question. Well, I guess it was at school, but not outside.
I tell him that it's Haruhi, and the story as to why she dressed a little less than feminine, and he nods in understanding.
He ponders for a moment. "Yeah, I did think she a little bit more feminine than the rest of them." As we approach my house, I feel bad as I realise he's walked me all the way home.
"You didn't have to walk me home. But thanks. See you later, I guess?" I say hugging him goodbye.
"Yeah, hopefully." He hugs me, before leaving. "See you later."
