Anyway..... Some Saizo x Kagero

No need for ages here. There will be some angst and tears.

It wasn't until the arrow hit her in the chest that Kagero knew that the battle was over.

She staggered backwards, clutching her chest. She looked up at the nameless person who had shot her, and she didn't recognize where they were from. They weren't from Hoshido, but their clothing didn't scream Nohr. Perhaps a third country? Kagero wasn't focused on that though.

She saw Saizo tear the soldier apart in an instant before limping towards her. She saw the blood drip from his side as her vision blurred slightly. He grabs her, and the two of them fall in an embrace. Looking at him, Kagero shakingly grabs his mask and removes it.

"S-Saizo..." She chokes.

Saizo doesn't respond. He brushes her bangs out her face and gently kisses her forehead. She tightens her grip on his outfit, and prevents the tears from falling.

"I... Regret two things," she whispers. "Failing Lo-Lord Ryoma and fail-failing to-to sa-save Corrin..."

"I... Do as well..." Saizo murmurs, his eye closing. "And leav-leaving you..."

Kagero smiles weakly. "I... I love you."

Saizo kisses her lips and grabs her hand tenderly before the two of them close their eyes and pass on, with peaceful looks, for death was merely the next step in life, and despite its shock, they could do nothing to stop it.

"Milord..." Kaze whispers, struggling to keep his emotions in check. "I've... I've found them."

Ryoma looks at Kaze, and is amazed at how composed he is. He has lost Saizo and Kagero, yet here he was, still standing. He solemnly turns his gaze to his retainers, forever locked in their embrace with peaceful looks on their faces, underneath a cherry tree. Some petals had fallen from the tree and landed on them, covering the blood and creating a tranquil image.

"Too soon," he whispers.

He doesn't see Kaze drift away into the ruined Hoshido village. Kagero and Saizo had gone ahead against Kaze's protests, and Kaze is full of despair, feeling that he cannot do anything correctly.

As he walks pass all the bodies and blood in the streets, a cry echoes through the alley, forcing the ninja to turn his head. He follows the sound, stepping over rubble, until he finds a wrecked house with no door. The cry turned into a wail.

Carefully stepping inside, Kaze looks around before spotting a crib. He peers in to see a brown-haired baby wailing, and his heart breaks. He gingerly picks up the child and holds the infant close. He hums quietly, and the child calms down. The baby opens its eyes, and Kaze finds himself staring into Saizo's eyes.

He's a mix of Kagero and Saizo... Kaze realizes.

He turns slightly and notices that he is alone. Cuddling the baby closer as the infant yawns and sleeps, he whispers, "So you've lost family too, little one..."

"Kaze."

Kaze turns to Princess Camilla of Nohr standing there. "Corrin and the others are looking for you." She pauses and walks closer. "Is that....?"

"An orphan," Kaze replies as he gazes into the child's sleeping face.

Camilla's heart breaks. "He is without family, just like you." After a second, she adds, "We need to have Elise check him for illness or wounds."

Kaze nods. Camilla steps closer. "Kaze.... You are a brave and loving soul."

Kaze scoffs internally, but says nothing.

He follows Camilla out of the house, still staring at the child. When he regroups with the others, Silas asks, "Who is that?"

"Saizo. Saizo the Sixth," Kaze replies.

Later that night, after burying Saizo the Fifth and Kagero together, Kaze sits outside, holding Saizo the Sixth (or Asugi, a nickname Azura gave him).

He gazes at the sleeping infant and holds him closer.

He had failed Sumeragi and Hoshido by letting Corrin get kidnapped.

He had failed Mikoto, Ryoma, Hinoka, Takumi, Corrin, and Sakura by letting Sumeragi die.

He had failed his clan by not becoming a retainer.

He had failed his family by letting himself get captured by Nohr.

He had failed Hoshido when Mikoto died.

And he had failed to save Saizo and Kagero.

But he swore that he would always protect Asugi, and would never fail in his duty to be a father to the child.

Reina: I was wrong this made me cry. THE FEELS.

It was supposed to end with Kagero and Saizo dying, but I realized, "Oh crap, then Asugi never exists." (I wanted Adugi to exist) So I had an orphan baby (who isn't Saizo or Kagero's, that was just Kaze's grief talking) for Kaze to adopt to try to make it a happier ending.... And I still cried.

Anyway, I wasn't shipping Camilla and Kaze. I just needed a Nohrian to show that this was a Revelations AU, and I didn't know if Elise could pull this off. It was actually supposed to be Hinoka at first but I really wanted a Nohrian......

Maybe I could expand upon this later.....? Like, have the next chapters take place years later, where everyone has kids after Corrin is crowned the new ruler of Valla, and Kaze is the father to Asugi and Midori, and it shows how Asugi goes from being Asugi to a serious warrior. (Might make Shiro one of the main characters because I love him, and I might throw in Soliel and Ophelia for fun.)

Also, if you want angst, you could have the Red String of Fate end in death. Or something.
