YWSL FE Pairing Week Day 2: Wrong Number

Reina: Here's day 2 of YWSL FE Pairing Week, Wrong Number. This time it's Caeda x Marth. This is a modern AU... So naturally I threw in Ike, Roy, and Alm. Sorry not sorry.

Here, Alm and Marth live together because Marth was living with his parents (the youngest child of a powerful CEO) until he moved in to Alm's place, as Alm didn't have enough money to cover rent. Roy and Ike live in the same apartment nearby building and are neighbors.

Here are the ages:

Marth: 23

Alm: 24

Roy: 22

Ike: 24

Caeda: 23

Also at one point I meant to write in Ike but it came out as Isa. I don't know why.

----------------------

"WHAT THE F***!" Ike screams as a blue shell hits his character, effectively making him lose the race. Alm snickered as he zooms past Ike and wins, with Roy and Marth soon following before Ike finally crosses the finish line. He shoots a glare at the younger three, who try to not laugh at his expression.

The four boys were at Alm and Marth's house for their weekly game night, mostly because Roy and Ike's places were too small for all four of them. After a long debate (and a bunch of rock paper scissor rounds), they decided to play Mario Kart, something that Ike immediately regrets, given that Roy Blue shelled him five times.

"Get wrecked Ikey boy," Roy smirks.

"I will f****** punch you in the face," Ike hisses. "Don't you dare call me Ikey boy."

"You wanna go bro?" Roy taunts. "I'll take you on."

"No, don't kill each other," Marth muttered as he shut his eyes. "Or rather, Ike, don't kill Roy."

"I have to agree with Marth," Alm replies. "Mostly because there is no way I can explain to Celica why I have blood stains on my carpet and a dead Roy in my closet."

"You tell her the mafia broke in," Ike replies.

Alm face palms and doubles over. "Dude, that will freak her out. And why would the mafia come to my house?"

"You are all idiots," Marth mutters. "Why am I friends with you?"

"Because we give you a taste of normalcy," Roy replies.

"Says the guy who wants to take Ike out," Marth reminds him.

Roy shrugs and goes back to the game to select new characters.

Marth's phone began to ring at that moment. He sets his controller down and gets up, not recognizing the number. "Let me answer this. You guys play a round without me." He accepts the call and heads out of the room, heading to the kitchen, which was far away from Alm's room, where the other three currently were.

"Hello?" Marth says.

A sob emerges from the line, causing Marth to panic. "What happened?" He asks the mysterious caller.

"L-Luke was a j-jerk," the female sobs. She sounds familiar, but Marth can't place his finger on her name or face. He scowls internally. Being the son of one of the most powerful CEOs in the nation forces you to meet so many people that you forget people sometimes, but not on purpose though.

"H-He in-insul-ted me and he-he left me d-during the-the date," the voice says, cutting through Marth's thoughts and making him focus at the matter at hand.

"What an ass," Marth mutters as he looks out the window, noticing how the clouds seemed ominous. Then it clicked. "Wait, do you not have a way home?"

The woman cries harder. Marth curses and grabs his keys and puts his shoes on. "I'll come pick you up. Where are you?"

"S-Smash Cafe," the woman sobs.

Marth grabs an umbrella and dashes out, not bothering to tell his friends where he was going. "I'll take you to your house."

"T-Thank you..." With that, she hung up.

It wasn't until Marth got into his Tesla and was already driving that he realized something.

He had no idea who this woman was.

So why was he helping her...? Because she seemed familiar? That seemed like a BS excuse. She'd probably run from him when she sees him.

Marth pushed that to the side and continued driving. The clouds got darker before he finally reached the cafe, pulling to a stop and rolling down the window.

A woman with long blue hair and blue eyes in a red dress stared at him in shock. "You... You're not Ogma..."

Marth curses. Yep, this was a bad idea.

"I'm so sorr-"

"Mar-Mar?!?!?!"

Marth freezes. Only two people were allowed to call him that. His eccentric (and supposedly immortal) friend Tiki....

And his childhood friend Caeda before she moved away.

"Caeda?!?!?!?" Marth gapes.

Caeda makes a move to say something, but it began to rain. Marth opened the passenger door, and Caeda bolted in, closing the door behind her and rolling up the window.

The two of them sit in silence as the rain splashes on the car. Finally, Caeda breaks the silence.

"Marth.... I'm sorry... I was trying to call my best friend Ogma and I called you instead...."

"It's fine," Marth replies.

"Thank you..." She whispers. "You didn't recognize me, yet you still helped me."

"That's what friends do," Marth replies quietly. "They help each other in their time of need."

Caeda smiles softly. "They do... They also don't set their friends up with assholes."

Marth laughs and starts the car. "Yeah, they don't."

"Can I stay with you?" Caeda suddenly asks. "I don't want to be alone."

Marth blushes and looks away. "Are-Are you sure? My friends Ike and Roy are over with my roommate Alm..."

"That's okay," Caeda replies. "I honestly don't care what people think. Besides, I could take them all on if they hurt me."

Marth shakes his head as he starts to move the car. "Not Ike. The dude benchpresses concrete for fun."

"Sounds like a fun guy," Caeda laughs. "Also I couldn't take them on. You do."

"Very funny," Marth replies.

The rest of the ride is silent, but it was rather pleasant, the splashing of rain on the car soothing the atmosphere. When Marth finally gets back home and parks into the garage, he and Caeda get out of the car and rush inside, dripping wet. Marth turns and locks the door behind him.

"There... Maybe you can borrow some of Celica's clothes until - hmph!"

Caeda had slammed their lips together, causing all of Marth's thoughts to scatter, leaving his mind blank. He was so out of it that he didn't hear Caeda whisper. "Marth... Thank you."

With that, she leaves him there, soaking wet while she goes to find Celica's clothes. Marth's fingers ghost over his lips, causing him to smile a bit. Afterwards, he walked to his room, ready to change and talk to Caeda once more.

Reina: And then Marth finds Caeda in his room. (I'm joking. That's not what happened.)

I cannot end romance stories of mine. Help.

Anyway, that was Day 2: Wrong Number. I hope you guys enjoyed everything up to the horrible ending.

Also, why are all of my one-shots short?!?!?!?!?

(For the pairings, you guys don't have to participate in every day if you can't, and late submissions are welcome as well. Just have fun writing)
