Meeting the Avengers
It has been a few months since the incident at the airport and the team was finally back to the way it used to be. One thing that none of the Avengers ever got to find out was who was the guy behind the Spiderman mask.
Well of course Tony knew, but he refused to tell anyone his secret identity. The team had become obsessed over trying to figure out who the man behind the mask was. But what they all had no idea of, was that it was just a 16 year old high school kid., and they were about to meet him.
{•••}
Peter was making his way home from school, when he caught sight of some thugs mugging an old woman. Peter saw this and quickly ran into another alley and changed into his alter identity, Spiderman. He crept up behind the mugger and tried to think of a witty comment to startle them. The muggers were wearing burglar masks so he decided to use that.
"Hey raccoons, I thought you stole the trash, not purses from old ladies?" He said as he then webbed them up to the dumpster nearby.
Not my best commentary. He though to himself.
He returned the purse to the woman who thanked him before running off and he shot away on his webs and landed on the roof of a building nearby.
He sat on the ledge, his feet dangling carelessly below him, when he heard the familiar sound of metal touching ground behind him.
Without turning around he greeted the father figure.
"Hey Mr.Stark." Peter said.
"Hey Pete, and I told you to call me Tony." Tony replied as he stepped out of his suit.
"I know, but I like to bother you." Peter said with a smirk.
Tony chuckled and came and sat down beside his protégé and basically son. He put a hand on his shoulder and spoke in a fatherly tone.
"Pete, I think it's time that you meet the avengers." He smiled.
Peter jumped up with excitement.
"Really!? And I don't have to fight them this time!?" He grinned.
Tony laughed.
"No kid, you don't gotta fight them."
Peter jumped and cheered.
"Race ya to the tower!" He said as he began to web swing away.
Tony shook his head and laughed as he smiled at how happy the kid was to meet some heroes even though he already was one.
{•••}
Peter beat Tony to the tower, but had began to become a bit nervous. Tony did his best to console the boy.
"Hey don't worry Pete, they're gonna love you." He smiled.
Peter nodded and went into the elevator with Tony.
They had agreed that Peter would hang back until Tony thought the team was ready for him to come out. The elevator doors opened and Tony stepped out. He walked in on a conversion they were having.
"Clint, no one wants to see your 'special magic trick'." Bucky said as he rolled his eyes.
"Oh come on!" Clint puffed.
The others just chuckled at Clint's childish behaviour.
Tony cleared his throat to get them to acknowledge his presence.
"Oh hey Tony." Steve said.
The others turned and noticed Tony as well.
"Guys, I have an important announcement to make." Tony smiled.
"Oh my gosh Tony! Did you finally decide to take cooking classes so we don't have to eat your awful cooking anymore!" Clint joked.
"Shut it Katniss." Tony glared.
A few others chuckled and Tony rolled his eyes.
"This announcement is not about me-" he was cut off by Bruce,
"Wow there really is a first time for everything."
The team erupted into laughter and Tony rolled his eyes and said quietly enough that they could just barely hear him,
"Well I guess you don't want to meet Spiderman and I should just tell him to go home."
Everyone stopped laughing as they heard him and stared at him mouths gaping open.
"Oh so now you're all interested in what I have to say." Tony chuckled.
"Please let us meet him Tony!" Wanda asked hopefully.
"Fine, alright kid, come on out." Tony said.
The others looked at one another. Kid? Did Tony just say kid!?
Peter walked in shyly and stood before the group of heroes, the people he idolized when he was younger and still does now.
"H-hello." He waved. He mentally slapped himself for sounding so nervous.
The avengers were speechless. Tony urged Peter on.
"Why don't you introduce yourself kid." Tony smiled.
"O-Okay. Hi my name is Peter Parker, I'm 16 years old and I've been Spiderman for about 6 months now. I go to Midtown High, and I live with Mr.Stark and Pepper." Peter summed up.
The avengers looked at Tony in disbelief, before Clint spoke up.
"Prove it." He said.
"Sorry?" Peter asked confused.
"There is no way that a kid as young as you is Spiderman." Clint said.
Peter shrugged and walked over to a nearby wall and climbed up and over to where he was standing before and hung from the ceiling above.
"Does this prove it?" He asked.
Clint nodded, speechless, which didn't happen much.
"Oh yea, and sorry for fighting you all at that airport a few months ago. At the time I was kinda new to all this and I just wanted to prove myself so it was nothing personal." Peter said.
"I-I dropped an airplane tunnel on you..." Steve said shocked.
"Well I mean I did kinda steal your shield so that evens it out I guess." Peter shrugged.
A few of them chuckled, starting to feel more comfortable around the teen hero.
"You're still a child." Natasha said.
"Well I mean, I didn't ask for these powers, but like what I said to Mr. Stark, when you can do the things that I can and don't, when people get hurt it's because of me." Peter said quietly.
"You've got heart kid, that's for sure." Bruce smiled.
Peter smiled back.
"Well since Pete introduced himself, why don't you all introduce yourselves, after all he doesn't know you all personally.
"I'll start." Clint said. "My name is Clint Barton, or Hawkeye, and I challenge you to a sparring match when all these dumb introductions are over!"
Peter laughed.
"Okay but my Spidey senses may give me an unfair advantage." Peter joked.
"Oh you're on kid!" Clint laughed.
Natasha went next.
"I'm Natasha Romanoff, you can call me Nat, or Black Widow, and I'm in charge of making sure Clint doesn't get himself killed every time we go on a mission." Natasha said with a playful glare.
Peter laughed some more before responding.
"Well from what I've seen on the news, it seems like that must be pretty tough!"
Nat laughed more.
"I am Thor Son of Odin! God of Thunder! And I am very happy to meet you man of spiders!" Thor boomed.
"It's good to meet you too Mr.Thor." Peter smiled.
"Haha just Thor will do young one!" Thor laughed.
"I'm Wanda Maximoff, or Scarlet Witch, and it's a pleasure to finally put a face to the name Peter." Wanda smiled.
"It's great to meet you too Wanda! I heard about your brother, and I'm sorry." Peter said.
"Thank you Peter, you actually remind me of him a lot." Wanda smiled.
"I'm Bruce Banner, and the other guy is Hulk, good to meet you Peter." Bruce said.
"Wow you're actually the Bruce Banner! I read your work on gamma radiation and I found it so amazing!" Peter rambled.
"You understood my work? It usually takes someone at university level to understand it." Bruce said impressed.
"Actually, Pete's a pretty smart kid." Tony said smiling at Peter and putting a hand on his shoulder.
"I'm sure we will be working together then I'm the lab Peter?" Bruce asked.
"That would be awesome!" Peter cheered.
"Hey, I'm James Buchanan Barnes, people call me Bucky, and you may know me as the Winter Soldier." Bucky said.
"Hi Bucky! Oh yeah and sorry if I dented your arm or something, I still think that it's really cool though!" Peter smiled.
The others looked at them confused.
"Well at the airport, I tried to punch Spiderman, sorry Peter, but he just held my metal arm back like it was nothing!" Bucky explained.
The team looked shocked.
Peter blushed with embarrassment.
"And finally, I'm Steve Rogers, or Captain America, and once again, I'm truly sorry for dropping that airplane hangar onto you." Steve smiled.
"Hey don't worry about it. It's not like it's the worst thing that's ever been dropped on top of me before." Peter said awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck.
"What do you mean?" Natasha asked.
Peter looked at Tony.
"It's okay kid. They can keep secrets." Tony smiled.
"Well a few months ago, there was this villain named Adrian Toomes, he called himself the vulture. He had somehow figured out who I was, and it turned out that he was also the father of my homecoming date Liz." Peter explained.
A few low whistles escaped the group.
"Anyways, one day I thought I had him cornered, but it was really all a trap and he ended making the building I was in collapse on top of me." Peter finished.
"Damn kid. You've been through quite a bit." Bucky said.
Peter shrugged and the topic of conversation changed.
"So what powers do you have Peter? And how'd you get em?" Wanda asked curiously.
"Well I was bitten by a radioactive spider-" he started.
"Okay that. Is. So. Cool." Clint yelled.
"Anyways, and I can shoot webs with my web shooters, I have like this sixth sense that I call my Spidey sense which alerts me of incoming danger, I have super strength, rapid healing which leads to an advanced metabolism, and I can like stick to walls and ceilings." Peter explained.
"Wow man of spiders has many different abilities!" Thor boomed.
{•••}
The group spent hours talking while they ate dinner, made by Bucky, and eventually the conversation drifted over to the topic he wanted to avoid. His family.
"Wait Peter, did you say you live with Tony?" Natasha asked.
"Nat Peter doesn't always feel comfortable talking abou-" Tony started.
"No it's okay Tony, I trust them and they deserve to know." Peter said quietly.
"Peter if you don't want to," Wanda started.
"No, it will be good to finally talk about it." Peter nodded.
"Okay, So when I was six, my parents died in a plane crash and I was left to live with my aunt may and my uncle Ben. I got my spider powers about a week before my uncle Ben was shot. He-he died right in my hands... I will never forget his last words to me 'with great power comes great responsibility'. I should have been there but I had ran off because I was mad at him for some dumb thing. I came back and then I saw him there... me and my aunt were doing well, she didn't know about me being Spiderman, but a few months ago my aunt may got really sick, she passed a week later in hospital. All these bad things that have happened, we call it the Parker Luck." Peter laughed at the last part.
"Oh Peter-" Steve began to say.
"Please, I've had so much pity in my life, I just want to be happy and enjoy my life. I'm only 16 for crying out loud!" Peter laughed.
"Well no pity then! Come man of spiders let us g-ahhh!" Thor shouts as he trips over the carpet and drops Mjolnir near Peter.
"Oh here you go Thor." Peter said as he lifted up Mjolnir with no effort and held it out to Thor.
Bucky and Steve spit out their tea, Clint fell off his chair, Natasha and Wanda's eyes went wide and Tony smiled.
"Umm what is it?" Peter asked.
"Hey Pete, look what you're holding." Tony smirked.
Peter's eyes went wide and he dropped the hammer on the ground.
"No! That is not real. Is that real!?" He freaked out.
"It's no surprise that you are worthy man of spiders!" Thor smiled. He picked Peter up and hugged him so tight that Peter couldn't breathe. When Thor let him go he smiled.
"Oh yea and Pete, your floor is ready. If you want to you can move in here and live with the avengers since you are one!" Tony announced.
"Oh my god wow thank you so much! This is the. Best. Day. Ever!!!" Peter cheered.
They spent the rest of the night laughing and enjoying each other's company before they all had a huge avenger sleepover in the living room. And of course FRIDAY got a picture of it.
That's the end of my first one shot thing! I hope you all enjoyed this and there are plenty more to come! This was fairly long about 2500 words and I hope you all enjoyed. Thanks for reading!
