What does it mean to be truly blessed?

(Ask yourself this before you continue reading the rest of the chapter)

If you would have asked me this a year ago, my answer would have been completely different. It takes time for one to understand the difference between what they think blessed means, and what it really stands for. I know it took me a while!
So many times we mistake those seven little letters for something much different than what it really is. The flesh in us wants and has to have everything; therefore, we are so focused on the big things we want and then completely forget about our little everyday blessings. For example, I have really wanted to get a main part in the play I was previously in, but I didn't end up getting it. To say the least I was absolutely crushed. I was so focused on what I didn't get that it clouded my judgement and state of mind. Nothing else mattered to me except for that.
Once I realized that many people didn't get in the play I started to rationalize with my self. Sometimes our blessings don't happen the way we want them to, but that doesn't make them any less important. In fact my favorite blessings are the ones that are small. That way whenever I get into deep thought I can think about how I get to wake up every morning as healthy as a horse. It makes those miracles that much more special.
It's normal to feel angry, crushed, and broken if something really bad happens. Our minds work like that, and it's a completely natural response. Yet in my opinion there are two ways to handle it: You could give up and hate the world around you, or trust that God can handle it.
Easier said than done... Right?
Well maybe you can think about it this way.
Jesus was given a life and told that He was the son of God. Also, He was informed that it was His job to spread the word of our God in our twisted and messed up world. Let me tell you, if I was given this amount of responsibility put on my shoulders, I probably wouldn't be too excited about it. Then after FINALLY accomplishing this goal.... He is told He has to die on a cross because He did what He was told. And that's not all; He is also explained to that a bunch of his followers are going to turn on Him after all they have been through.
That may have helped you understand that our life doesn't go as planned, and often times we find ourselves under bad terms. But sometimes instead of thinking that we aren't blessed at all, it's better ,to look at our little blessings.
Because, believe it or not, we all have something worth living for.
