Chapter 9: Who Could be the Next Ghostface?

Later that night, Sarah was getting ready for the sorority party. She kept her dark jeans and boots, but switched shirts, throwing on a red v-neck shirt and Billy's jacket. She then touched up her makeup before meeting up with Randy and heading out.

"Alright, ready to 'party it up'?" Sarah asks.

"Yeah. but first..." Randy says, handing her a small gift bag.

"What's this?" Sarah asks.

"Just a little something." Randy replies.

"What for?" Sarah asks.

"What, a guy can't do something nice for his girlfriend?" Randy asks, "Come on, open it."

Sarah playfully hit him before taking the bag and removing the paper and pulling out a small box. When she opened it, there was a silver heart-shaped locket with 'SL+RM' engraved on it. Inside the locket was a photo of them that was taken at Sarah's graduation party.

"Oh my God." Sarah says, surprised. "This is beautiful, but you didn't have to-"

"I know. I wanted to." Randy says, taking the locket out and putting on around her neck. "I wanted to get you something that lets you know how special you are to me."

"You're starting to sound like a cheesy romance movie." Sarah says.

"But, you love it." Randy responds.

"You're right. I do. Now, let's go."

The Delta Lambda house wasn't that hard to find. There was a crowd of other students partying when they arrived.

"Sarah, glad you could make it!" Lois says as soon as she and Murphy see them.

"Yeah. Thought I'd try to get back into the party scene." Sarah responds semi-sarcastically.

"Well, I'm sure you'll enjoy this one." Lois says.

"Oh my God, I just love your jacket." Murphy says. "Where'd you get it?" She asks, reaching out to touch it.

Sarah smacked Murphy's hand away, ready to tell her off when Randy came to the rescue.

"Hey, why don't we go get a drink?" He asks, leading Sarah away.

"Thanks for the save." Sarah says. "A moment longer and I might have torn those two apart."

"Don't let them get to you." Randy says, "They know it's still a sensitive subject for you."

"And they wonder why I don't like them. 'Come on, Sarah. You could totally fit in here. We're here to help you with what you're going through.' Oh yeah, then stop trying to bring up my dead brother everytime we talk!" Sarah says, growing frustrated.

"Hey, it's alright." Randy says, "Forget about them. Tonight, it's just you and me, okay?"

"Okay."

Despite the encounter with Lois and Murphy, Sarah actually found herself enjoying the party. With Randy's help, Sarah was able to relax, have fun, and forget about her problems for a few hours. That was, until the two girls came running out.

"Hey guys! Something is up at Omega Beta Zeta. Police are everywhere." Lois says.

"Hurry!" Murphy adds before they leave.

A crowd of partiers followed them, rushing over to either leave or see what was going on.

"Shit." Sarah swore. "Not this shit again."

"Come on, let's go." Randy says, seeing Sarah's unease and leading her away.

"It really is starting again, isn't it?" Sarah asks.

"We don't know that." Randy says, "It could have been something else."

"Then it's one hell of a coincidence." Sarah responds, "Which I'd say is more and more unlikely. I mean first there was the movie, and now the first party I've been to since the night Billy died? Yeah, totally something else."

Randy was silent for a moment. "I didn't want to admit it, but you and Sid might be right. We're gonna get through this, though. Whoever is responsible, they'll be stopped. And I'm not gonna let anything happen to my final girl."

As promised earlier, they went back to Randy's place and watched movies until Sarah needed to get back to her room.

The next day, Sarah got dressed in her distressed jeans with a purple long sleeve shirt. She did her makeup as usual, and put a black headband in her hair and put on her locket before heading out. She tried to pay attention in her classes, but started skipping when she just couldn't focus. She then met up with Randy and Dewey at a cafe on campus. An interview for 'Stab' was playing on the TV, and Randy started going on about the casting. When they sat down, the interview ended with a scene from the movie.

"I'll wait for the video." Randy says when the scene ends, "Okay, let's get down to business. The way I see it, someone's out to make a sequel. You know, cash in on all the movie murder hoopla. So it's our job to observe the rules of the sequel. Number one: the body count is always bigger. Number two: the death scenes are always much more elaborate; more blood. More gore. Carnage candy. Your core audience just expects it. And number three: if you want your sequel to become a franchise, never ever-"

"Look, as much as we appreciate this, can you jump to the part where we catch the killer?" Sarah asks.

"Well, let's look at the suspects." Randy says, "There's Derek, the obvious boyfriend. Hello Billy Loomis. The guy's premed, and his pity-me surface wound conveniently missed every major vein and artery."

"So you think it's Derek?" Dewey asks.

"Not so fast." Randy says, "Let's assume the killer, or 'ers has half a brain. He's not a Nick at Nite rerun type of guy. He wants to break some new ground. Right? So forget the boyfriend, it's tired. Who else do we got?"

"Well, maybe there's-" Sarah starts, but is cut off.

"Mickey, the freaky Tarantino film student." Randy says. "But if he's a suspect, so am I. So let's move on."

"Whoa, wait, let's not move on." Dewey says, "Maybe you are a suspect."

"Well, If I'm a suspect, you're a suspect." Randy says.

"And if you guys are, so am I." Sarah adds. "Besides, I can tell by the looks that others are thinking it, too. I mean, who else other than the younger sister of one of the Woodsboro killers, okay? We could point fingers at each other all day. Moving on. Who's next?"

"Hallie." Randy says.

"Sid's roommate?" Dewey asks. "Serial killers are typically white males."

"That's why it's perfect." Randy says, "It's sort of against the rules, but not really. Mrs. Voorhees was a terrific serial killer. And there's always room for Candyman's daughter. She's sweet. She's deadly. She's bad for your teeth."

"Is it bad that I actually want to see that now?" Sarah asks. "Because I kinda want to see that."

"Come on." Dewey says, "These guys are your friends. Who do you think's the killer?"

"How about Gale Weathers." Randy suggests.

"Gale?" Dewey asks, "A killer?"

"Why not?" Randy asks.

"She is vicious enough." Dewey says.

"She's an opportunist." Sarah adds.

"Isn't it conceivable she's planning her next book?" Randy adds, "That's what reporters do, Dewey. They stage the news."

"No." Dewey says, "Gale's a lot of things, but Gale's not a killer."

"Listen, just because you're sweet on her-" Randy says.

"No, I'm not." Dewey protests.

"Please, this is me talking, Randy, loyal boyfriend of Sarah Loomis. We know about obsession." Randy says before pulling away his shirt collar to reveal the scar left from when he was attacked by Billy. "And pain."

"Should I- is that a compliment? I'll just assume it is." Sarah says awkwardly.

"And you two have your love scars to prove it." Dewey says.

"So do you." Randy says, "And what's with that limp anyway? 'Cause you were stabbed in the back."

"Severed nerve." Dewey states. "Look, Gale's no killer."

"Well if she's not, then she's a target." Sarah says.
