Chapter 6: The Identities of Ghostface

During all this, Sidney was being chased by Ghostface. When the killer lost sight of her, he turned his attention on Randy and Sarah, both of which were too busy commenting on their movie to notice the killer behind them. However, Sidney's screams for help distracted the killer, and caught Sarah's attention later.

"Is that Sid?" Sarah asks.

"What?" Randy asks.

"I heard screaming." Sarah says.

The two split up to investigate. Randy looked outside while Sarah searched the house. Unfortunately, she ran into Ghostface. The killer attacked Sarah, but she managed to put up a fight against him. They struggled for a bit until the killer got the upper hand, slashing her a few times and stabbing her in the side before knocking her out.

She had no idea how long she was out when she woke up. One thing she knew, she was still hurt from her encounter with Ghostface. Slowly, she got up and tried to find help. She didn't dare say anything, and heard voices coming from the kitchen. Sarah carefully peeked in and saw Sidney with a flew blood splatters and Stu pointing a gun at her. Worse for her, Sarah saw Billy, also seemingly blood-soaked, holding a knife at Sidney's throat. Sidney's dad was also on the ground, tied up.

"Got the ending figured out yet, Sid?" Billy asks.

"Come on, Sidney." Stu says, "You think about it now, huh? Your daddy's the chief suspect. We cloned his cellular. The evidence is all right there, baby!"

"What if your father snapped?" Billy asks, "Your mother's anniversary set him off, and he went on a murder spree, killing everyone."

"Except for Billy, Sarah, and me." Stu adds, "We were left for dead."

"Then he... kills you... and shoots himself in the head." Billy adds, "Perfect ending."

"I thought of that." Stu adds.

"And what about Sarah?" Sidney asks, "Does she know?"

"She won't." Billy says, "I've kept her in the dark the whole time. She'll think that we're the lucky survivors. And I'm not that insane that I'd kill my baby sister."

Sarah had heard enough after that, and moved away before she could be spotted. She didn't want to believe what she had just heard. She couldn't believe that not only was Stu involved, but her own brother. She looked for a place to hide when the door to the garage slowly opened, and Rose stumbled out.

"Sarah?" She asks quietly, "What's going on?"

"Billy and Stu have lost it, that's what's going on." Sarah responds.

"What?" Rose asks.

"They're the killers. I just heard them admit it. They're gonna kill Sid and frame her dad." Sarah says.

"Why didn't they kill us, then?"

"I don't know, but we gotta make sure they don't know we know. Just hide for now."

"What about you?"

"He won't hurt me. I'll be fine."

Rose nodded and hid back in the garage while Sarah heard the boys yelling. She made it to the hallway only for Billy to see her.

"Sarah?" He asks.

She turned to face her brother. "I'm sorry, Billy. But this time, it's not on me. I can't cover for you on this one."

This moment was just enough for Ghostface to stab Billy with an umbrella and knock the gun away from him. Sarah let out a gasp, and saw that it was Sidney in the costume. The girls exchanged a look before Stu ran over and tackled Sidney, completely ignoring Sarah. While that was going on, Sarah watched as she sat down, too injured to stand. Sidney joined her shortly after.

"I still can't believe he did this." Sarah says.

Sidney gave her a sympathetic look before sitting next to her, holding the Ghostface mask in her hand. Suddenly, Randy grabbed Sarah on the shoulder from behind, startling the girls.

"I'm sorry." He says, "It's all right."

"Oh my God, Randy, I thought you were dead." Sidney says.

"I probably should be." Randy says, "I never thought I'd be so happy to be a virgin."

Billy, who had just woken up, punched Randy in the face before pinning Sidney down.

"Billy, no!" Sarah screamed as she tried to pull him off Sidney, but he just elbowed her off of him. He tried to strangle Sidney, but she poked him where she stabbed him with the umbrella. Billy yelled in pain as he released his hold on her and raised his knife, only to be shot by Gale.

Sidney and Sarah helped Randy up and they walked over to Gale. Rose also appeared and joined the group.

"Rose, you're okay." Sidney says.

"More or less." Rose says. "Good thing you guys are, too."

The four of them walked over to Billy and stood over him, Sidney nudging his leg to see if he was dead. Sarah, meanwhile, knelt at her brother's side, holding one of his hands in hers as she fought back tears.

"Careful." Randy says, "This is the part where the supposedly dead killer comes back to life for one last scare."

"Randy, shut up." Rose says quietly.

Sure enough, Billy jumped forward, only for Sidney to shoot him in the head, killing him. A loud crash was heard as Sidney's dad, still tied up, stumbled in. Sidney rushed over and tried to help him.

"Rose, help me out." Sidney says, and Rose goes to help her.

"Any help on the way?" Rose asks.

"Yeah. I called the Sheriff earlier." Gale says. She then looked to Sarah, who hadn't moved. "I'm.... sorry." She says.

Sarah remained silent before she suddenly stood and threw the closest object to her in a random direction. She started yelling and screaming before she collapsed and started to cry loudly.

"DAMMIT!" She yelled, "TELL ME THIS IS A GODDAMN DREAM!"

The others were startled by her sudden outburst, but Randy just approached her and hugged her.

"I think we all wish it was." He says.

"What am I supposed to tell Dad?" Sarah asks, "How can I tell him?"

"I don't know." Randy says.

Sirens could be heard in the distance, getting louder as they approached the house.

"We should wait for them outside." Rose says as she, Sidney, Gale, and Sidney's dad headed for the front door. Randy tried to lead Sarah out, but she refused to move.

"Sarah, we gotta go. Come on" He says.

"Wait." Sarah says quietly. "Sidney?"

"Yeah?" Sidney responds.

"I saw you go upstairs with him earlier. Where exactly?" Sarah asks.

Sidney gave her a confused look. "Why do you ask?"

"His jacket and flannel's gone. I know he was wearing them when he got here." Sarah explains.

Sidney nodded in understanding before telling Sarah how to get to Stu's parents' room. She went up, with Randy following, and sure enough, Billy's outer shirt and jacket were lying on the floor. Sarah slowly reached for them, draping the jacket over her shoulders and holding the shirt close to her as Randy led her back to the others.

When help arrived, Sarah had her injuries checked, and luckily they weren't too severe. Once that was done, she waited with Randy until her dad showed up.

"Sarah!" Hank says, rushing over to her, "Thank God you're okay. Where's Billy?" When Sarah didn't respond, Hank grew worried. "Sarah, where's your brother?" Again, there was no response, and Hank realized what had happened.

The drive home was long and silent. After Sarah talked to the cops about what she could remember of the night's events, she went back to not saying anything. Her mind was still processing everything.

"You should... get some sleep." Hank says when they get home. "I won't even bother you if you sleep in. I know you've just been through a lot, and things are going to be different without.... without Billy, but I want you to know that everything's going to be okay. Alright?"

Sarah nodded slowly.

"Now get some sleep." Hank says, "Love you."

"Love you too, Dad." Sarah says quietly before going to clean off her makeup, which had been smudged a little, before changing out of her dirty and bloody clothes into her pjs. She also hung Billy's flannel and jacket on her closet door before going to bed.

Sarah didn't get much sleep that night, and when Hank went to check on her, he saw that she had moved to sleep on the floor in Billy's room.
