Chapter 17: Hell Starts to Break Loose
Later that night, Dewey, Gale, and Jennifer went to Milton's house to look for the girls after Dewey got a call from Sidney saying they'd be there.
"Hey, guys." Roman says as they enter, "Come on in. join the party."
"Yeah, well, we're actually here to see Sidney and Sarah." Gale says.
"Good. Sidney and Sarah are here." Roman answers.
"Where?" Dewey asks, "Where are they?"
"They're right there." Roman says, pointing in Angelina and Cassandra's direction. He didn't appear to be 100% sober.
"Jesus. Not 'Sidney and Sarah,' Sidney and Sarah." Jennifer says, "Like I'm Gale and she's Gale."
"Sidney Prescott and Sarah Loomis?" Roman asks.
"Yeah." Jennifer responds.
"No, I'd never invite them here." Roman says.
"They're on their way." Gale says.
"Well, the more the merrier." Roman says.
"I wouldn't worry too much about him." Rose says, approaching Dewey and Gale. "Things have barely started and he's already had too much to drink."
"God, this house is incredible." Says Rose's actress, Gabriella Winchester.
"It's old Hollywood." Angelina adds.
"Yeah, could the dude have more money?" Another actor, Tyson, comments.
"Supposedly, Milton has a secret screening room that was like the scene back in the '70s, you know." Roman says. "It was like, drinks and drugs, and girls, and movies and shit."
"Wow. Wish I could've seen it." Cassandra says.
"Big old screening room shouldn't be too hard to find." Roman says, "I'm gonna go check this place out."
"Whoa! Just one damn minute." Tyson says, "There's a psycho killer on the loose, and you want to go traipsing around this gigantic mansion? Have you ever actually seen the Stab movies? Everytime this dude enters a room, he ends up a goddamn shish kebab."
"Rose, babe, you coming?" Roman asks.
"I think I'll wait here with Dewey and Gale." Rose says, "Just in case Sid and Sarah show up."
"I'll go with you, Roman." Jennifer says.
"There we go." Roman says, "You guys wanna come?" He asks the other cast members.
"It'll be okay." Angelina tells Tyson, "We're gonna stick together."
"Yeah, we'll stay with Rose and wait for Sid and Sarah." Dewey says.
"We'll be right back!" Roman calls as he leaves with Jennifer. Meanwhile, Angelina went with Tyson, and Cassandra with Gabriella.
"How are the girls doing?" Rose asks.
"They're a little shaken up, but I think they'll be okay." Dewey says, "Nothing they haven't dealt with before."
The three waited a bit longer, but Sidney and Sarah didn't show. Gale looked outside, but didn't see anything.
"Any sign of them?" Dewey asks.
"No. Gale responds, "This is so strange."
"It sure is." Dewey responds.
"Just a little." Rose adds.
"Do you have caller ID on your cell phone?" Gale asks Dewey.
"Yeah." He responds.
"Use it and press 'send.'" Gale says.
Dewey did so, and the three heard a phone ringing nearby. They tracked it to a closet where they found the phone, the Ghostface costume, and a voice changer.
"What is that?" Rose asks as Gale picked up the voice changer.
Gale held it up to her and turned it on.
"Is this what he-" She starts to ask as the voice changer makes her sound like Dewey. "What the hell?" She asks as she moves it away.
Rose decided to try it, and took it from Gale.
"How the hell did it sound like-" She starts, sounding like Roman. "Shit, it's somehow got your voice and Roman's?" She asks again as she turns it off.
"He's got us all." Gale says. "We gotta find the girls." She adds as they leave the closet, Dewey pulling out his gun.
"Take the gun." Dewey says, handing it to Gale. "Go find Roman and Jennifer. Rose, look for Cassandra and Gabriella. I'll find the others."
The trio then split up, searching the house. Rose could hear Dewey and Gale calling for the others while she called out for Cassandra and Gabriella. As she searched, she found Cassandra, but she was already dead.
"Shit." Rose swore. She continued looking until she found Gabriella, thankfully unharmed, "Come on, we gotta go."
"Why? What's going on?" Gabriella asks.
"The killer's here." Rose says, "Cassandra's dead."
"What?" Gabriella asks.
"Let's go!" Rose says, and the two take off, calling for the others.
Unfortunately, they ran into Ghostface, who attacked Gabriella. Rose tried to help, but the killer fought back before going back to Gabriella. Rose had no choice but to run, and later found Dewey, Gale, and Jennifer.
"Rose!" Dewey says, "Where's Cassandra and Gabriella?"
"Dead. The killer got them." Rose says.
"He got Roman and Angelina too." Gale adds.
"Roman?" Rose asks.
"Yeah, sorry about your boyfriend, but the rest of us will be safe if we stick together, won't we?" Jennifer says.
"Of course." Dewey says just as Ghostface appears.
The four are chased into another room where Tyson is when Ghostface attacks him. Dewey manages to fight back a short bit before Ghostface slashes at him. Tyson then tries to attack the killer, but he gets stabbed. Jennifer hid in the closet as Ghostface attacked Dewey again, but Rose and Gale distracted the killer. Ghostface then turned his attention back to Tyson as he ran off, looking for help. They were about to leave the room when Rose noticed movement behind the mirrors. Dewey shot at each of them, a dead Jennifer falling out of the second to last one. Gale and Rose screamed before they left to look for Tyson, unaware that Ghostface had got him, too.
Back at the station, Sidney and Sarah were hanging out in Kincaid's office, looking through books to entertain themselves. Sidney then noticed some files, each with one of the girl's names on them. She took Sarah's file and handed it to her before taking hers. After making sure no one was looking, the girls opened the files. They found a bunch of newspaper articles about them with various parts highlighted, along with photos of them. Their search was interrupted when Sarah's phone rang.
"Hello?" Sarah asks, only to get an echo of what she just said. "Who is this?" She asks, and another echo. "Who's calling?" She asks this time, and again, echo. "Look, Gale, Rose, Dewey, whoever, call me back. I can only hear myself."
"I only hear you too, Sarah." Ghostface says.
"Who is this?" Sarah asks.
"The question isn't who I am." Ghostface says, "The question is, who's with me?"
In the background, Sarah heard Gale and Dewey, telling her to stay away from Ghostface. Sarah quickly stood to get help, Sidney following, but Ghostface stopped them.
"Don't do it." He says, "If you girls do one thing to attract attention to yourselves, one thing, I'll kill them both. Now, do you have somewhere we can be alone?"
Sarah looks around, and sees Wallace's office, empty.
"Yes." She answers.
"Good. Go there." Ghostface says. "And when you do, put me on speakerphone so Sidney can hear us, too. I know she's with you."
Sarah pointed to the office, and she and Sidney went inside, closing the door before putting the phone on speaker.
"Oh it's hard being friends with you girls." Ghostface says, "When you're friends with Sidney and Sarah, you die. Well, these friends don't have to, girls. It's up to you two."
"How do we know their voices are-?" Sarah asks.
"Are real?" Ghostface asks, "How do you girls know you're not hearing things? How do you know I'm not someone in your heads? Somewhere you know. Or do you?" Dewey and Gale could be heard in the background again.
"You're dead." Sidney says threateningly.
"I don't want them." Ghostface says, "I want you. Especially you, Sidney. It's simple. You show yourselves, they survive. You run, they die. Don't you wanna know, Sidney, who killed her? Don't you wanna know who killed your mother?"
"Fuck you, my psycho brother and his friend did that." Sarah says.
"I'm afraid it's not that simple, Sarah." Ghostface says.
"Where?" Sidney asks.
"She'd have been so happy, Sidney, to know that we'd be together." Ghostface says.
"Where?" Sidney asks again.
"I'll call you when you're on your way." Ghostface answers before hanging up.
The girls swore repeatedly before Sidney took Wallace's keys.
"We have to go." She says, "We have to help them."
"Yeah, we do." Sarah says, "Even though this is probably a trap."
"Check his desk. See if his gun is there." Sidney says as she removes a bulletproof vest.
Sarah nods and searches, finding it.
"I got it." She says.
"Give it to me." Sidney says, "I have an idea."
Sarah hands Sidney the gun, and she tucks it in her boot before handing Sarah the bulletproof vest.
"Is there another one of these?" Sarah asks.
"No. Just the one." Sidney answers.
"Then you take it." Sarah says.
"Sarah-"
"Look, this guy clearly wants you more than he wants me. You should take it." Sarah says.
Sidney reluctantly took the vest back and put it on under her shirt before they left the station. Sure enough, Ghostface called again, telling them to meet him at Milton's house.
