Chapter 16: Ghostface Sighted on Set

They looked around the set for a bit longer before Sarah and Sidney told Dewey and Rose they needed to use the bathroom. In reality, both girls were getting anxious and wanted to step away for a quick sec. They splashed some water on their faces before drying off. Then they looked at themselves in the mirrors, giving themselves mental pep talks.

Then they heard some banging in the stalls behind them, and the girls went into defense mode. Sidney pulled out a pepper spray, and Sarah did the same before they kicked open the two stall doors. What they found was Angelina Tyler, the new actress playing Sidney, with a Ghostface costume and other small items, and Cassandra Skaro, the actress playing Sarah with miscellaneous items as well. Both actresses were startled, but soon got excited when they saw who it was that startled them.

"Oh, my God. Sidney Prescott!" Angelina exclaims.

"And you're Sarah Loomis!" Cassandra adds.

"I'm Angelina Tyler!" Angelina says.

"And I'm Cassandra Skaro! We're you." Cassandra adds.

"I mean, we're not. Or we were." Angelina adds. She then noticed the girls looking at the Ghostface costume as Sidney helped her pick up what she dropped. "I thought, well, if there's no movie, no one would care if I took some souvenirs." She explained.

"Souvenirs?" Sidney asks.

"We may never win another role, so these may be our only memories, you know, of Hollywood." Cassandra says.

"No we get it." Sarah says, "I don't know about Sid, but If I was in a movie, I'd probably want to take a few things from set afterwards."

"We know it's weird because it's your life and all, but we wanted to make you girls proud." Angelina says.

"Oh. Well, I'm sure we would've been." Sidney responds.

"The real Sidney and Sarah." Cassandra fangirls, "The real people. I wish it would've worked out."

The two actresses took their things and exited through the door to the set. Sidney then noticed that Angelina forgot a hairbrush and followed where she just went to return it, Sarah following. They didn't find her, but saw that the locations on the set were just like Woodsboro.

"This is too weird." Sarah says, "It feels like we're back home."

"Yeah, you're right." Sidney responds.

They looked around and found themselves in a set that looked like Sidney's old room. They looked around in silence before sitting on the bed. Shortly after, they heard the sound of a door, but didn't see anything out the window. The door behind them suddenly closed and the girls armed themselves. Sidney also checked the closet door before opening it to the main door would be stuck. The girls looked around nervously before Ghostface appeared and pulled Sarah out the window. She fought back long enough to get up and run away, but the killer was after her. She and Sidney called for Dewey and Rose as they ran into another house and locked the door.

Ghostface appeared and chased them up the stairs, the girls throwing things at him to stall him. Sidney went for another door, and almost fell into another room before pulling herself onto the wall. Sarah followed and shut the door just before Ghostface caught up. Sarah pulled him down to the room below as she and Sidney pulled themselves back through the door. Ghostface ran out of the room, but the girls couldn't find him. They called for Dewey and Rose again before going into another room. It was covered in fake blood with what they thought was a dummy in a body bag, only making the girls more anxious. Voices from past events sounded in their minds, only broken by Dewey calling for the girls. The figure in the bag rose and attacked them, and the girls jumped out the window and landed on the ground.

"Sid! Sarah!" Dewey called, rushing inside and over to them. Wallace and two cops followed him. "You girls alright? What happened?"

"The killer's in the house. He's upstairs." Sarah explains quickly.

"And my mother-" Sidney adds, "I heard her voice. I saw her."

"It's okay." Dewey says, "You girls weren't supposed to go in that house. It's all set up for the murder scene. I'm sorry you had to see that."

"He was in there. We saw him. I swear he was in there." Sarah says.

"I believe you." Dewey says.

"What happened?" Kincaid asks, rushing over. Rose and the Stab cast slowly entered behind him.

"There's nobody up here." Wallace says from inside the house.

After that, Dewey and Kincaid helped Sidney and Sarah up and led the girls outside.

"We know he was there." Sidney says, "We are not dreaming. We are ot crazy. He was there in Woodsboro."

"That's not Woodsboro, Sidney." Kincaid says.

"You know what we mean." Sarah says, "He was there. Or she, or whoever it is this time."

"We're gonna take you girls back to the station, keep you under watch. Put you in a safe house. Whatever it takes."

Sidney and Sarah got in the car, waiting to leave.

"It's alright. We all believe you. He's watching. And he wants you." Dewey says before Kincaid drives off.

There was silence for the drive, and a few moments after they arrived at the station. Kincaid was doing some work while Sarah and Sidney continued staring at the board.

"What do you know about trilogies?" Sidney asks.

"You mean, like movie trilogies?" Kincaid asks.

"You seem to like movies, detective." Sarah comments.

"Call me Mark, would you?" Kincaid says, "Because I'm gonna keep calling you Sidney and Sarah."

"We'll call you Mark when you catch the killer, detective." Sidney says.

"All I know about movie trilogies is that in the third one, all bets are off." Kincaid says.

"That's a nice way of putting it." Sarah comments.

"Did you ask for this case?" Sidney asks.

"No. They tend to put me on the ones that deal with the business." Kincaid answers, "I grew up here, and I know my way around the studios."

"Must be exciting." Sarah says, "Beautiful place, beautiful people."

"To me, Hollywood is about death." Kincaid says.

"Excuse me?" Sidney asks.

"I'm a homicide detective, remember?" Kincaid says, "And when you see what I see, day in and day out, the violence that people do to each other, you get haunted. I think you girls know about that."

"What do you mean?" Sarah asks.

"I know what it's like to see ghosts that don't go away." Kincaid says, "To be watching a scary movie in your head, whether you want to or not. Watching it alone."

"Ghosts are tough." Sidney says, "You can't shoot ghosts."

"Can't arrest ghosts." Kincaid says, "But the best way to stop being haunted is to be with people. You girls are here. You're not in hiding, You've done the right thing, Miss Prescott. Miss Loomis. What did you know about your mother?" He then asks Sidney.

"I always thought I had the perfect mom." Sidney answers, "Perfect family. Till I found out I was wrong. She, um- she had a secret life, and I tried to understand that, and, um, soon as I thought that I had, more secrets. I don't know who my mom was."

"You know who she was to you." Kincaid says. "Here's the deal. I'm off to search the set. I think what you girls saw was real. That's the good news."

"How is that good news?" Sarah asks.

"Because that means we're dealing with an ordinary flesh-and-blood killer." Kincaid says, "I know how to handle guys like that."

"Oh, yeah? How?" Sidney asks.

"Catch him, or kill him." Kincaid answers.

"Hey, detective." Sarah says just as Kincaid is leaving, "What's your favorite scary movie?"

"My life." He answers before he leaves.

"Mine too." Sidney and Sarah say.
