Chapter 11: The New Ghostface Killers
Sarah, Sidney, and Hallie were escorted back to the dorms by the two detectives that were assigned to protect Sidney. They started at Sarah's room, helping her pack a few suitcases. She grabbed her daily essentials, makeup, some clothes (including Billy's shirt and jacket), and other miscellaneous items of value to her. After that, they went to Sidney and Hallie's room and did the same thing. The girls then waited until it was dark before they headed out. Derek was also waiting for them as the two detectives put the bags in the car. He was talking with Sidney while Sarah and Hallie approached with the last few bags.
"Hey, wait up." Hallie says as the girls approach.
"They're fine." Sidney says as Derek gives them a confused look.
"I'm her therapist." Hallie says sassily before handing her back to one of the detectives and getting in the car.
"See ya, Derek." Sarah says quietly before doing the same thing.
Sidney and the detectives climbed in a moment later before they drove off. It was silent, and most of the roads were deserted, which only made Sidney and Sarah slightly more uncomfortable.
"So where are you taking us, anyway?" Hallie asks after they stop at a red light.
"If we tell you, we'll have to kill you." The first detective said.
"Don't ask, don't tell." The second detective added just as Ghostface appeared.
The girls screamed as Ghostface broke the window and slit the detective's throat before climbing on top of the car. The first detective got out of the car and tried to fight Ghostface, but the killer had the upper hand. Meanwhile, the girls continued screaming as they tried to get out, but they were locked in the backseat of the car. Ghostface then got behind the wheel and started driving recklessly with the detective clinging to the hood of the car. The girls freaked out and tried to take cover as the car crashed multiple times before finally driving into some metal bars, killing the other detective and seemingly knocking out the killer.
"Is he dead?" Hallie asks when they get up, referring to Ghostface.
"I don't think so." Sarah answers.
"No, he's still breathing." Sidney adds.
"Oh, is he dead?" Hallie then asks, this time referring to the detective.
"Oh, God. I think so." Sidney answers.
The girls then tried the doors and windows again, but still no luck.
"How are we supposed to get out of here?" Hallie asks.
"We're not. It's a cop car." Sarah says.
Sidney then noticed the mesh wall was broken and started to pull it back. With some help from Sarah and Hallie, they managed to create a big enough entrance for Sidney to crawl out and into the front. Carefully, she pulled herself through, but the door on the passenger side was too close to a wall. Their only option was to climb over Ghostface and out the driver side window. Sidney went first, with Sarah next, and finally Hallie. As soon as all three girls were out of the car, they took off running.
"Wait." Sidney says after they're a short distance away, "I want to know who it is."
"Oh, no. Come on, Sid." Hallie says.
"Trust me, I want to know too, but now is not the time." Sarah adds.
"She's right. We should go." Hallie adds.
"I'm going back." Sidney says, starting towards the car.
"Look, stupid people go back." Hallie says, "Smart people run. We're smart people, so we should just get the fuck outta here."
"I'm sick of running!" Sidney protests, "If we know who it is, then it's over."
"Or we can get the police!" Hallie says.
"And when they get back, he'll be gone." Sarah adds.
"I have to do this." Sidney says, "It will only take a minute."
With that, Sidney ran back towards the car, and Sarah followed slightly.
"He's gone!" Sidney says when she looks inside the car.
Suddenly, Ghostface appeared and attacked Hallie, killing her. Sarah and Sidney screamed before running back to campus. The girls then heard music coming from inside the theatre and ran inside to investigate. They didn't see anything too out of the ordinary, but Sidney still called out to see if anyone else was there. When the girls made it to the stage, the music cut out and a spotlight shone on them. They tried to flee, but set pieces blocked their path. Another set piece was lowered, this one with someone tied to it with a mask on. Sidney removed it to reveal Derek. The girls then struggled to untie him while warning him that the killer was here.
"Where?" Derek asks.
"Right here." Ghostface says, drawing their attention. "You girls are fast."
"Get me down." Derek says.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Ghostface responds, "You really want to trust your boyfriend?" The voice changer clicked off, and Sarah recognized the true voice behind the mask. "Don't you know history repeats itself, girls?" Ghostface then removed his mask, revealing....
"Mickey." Sidney says in surprise.
"Surprise, Sidney." Mickey says, "And Sarah."
"What the fuck?" Derek asks.
"Since Derek here disappeared on my ass," Mickey says, removing the Ghostface costume, "I've been on my own all fucking night. Thanks a lot, partner."
"You motherfucker!" Derek yells, "Sid, he's crazy. You know me better than that."
"Come on, girls." Mickey says, "I've got to have a partner. I couldn't have possibly done this alone."
The girls, unsure of what to believe, slowly backed away from Derek, who still insisted Mickey was lying.
"Hmm... boyfriend. Killer. Boyfriend. Killer." Mickey says.
"He's lying!" Derek protests.
"What do you think, Derek?" Mickey asks, "Is Sidney experiencing some deja vu? I'm sure Sarah also has some doubts."
"I'm gonna fucking kill you!" Derek yells. "You're dead!"
Mickey silenced him by shooting him in the chest.
"You girls should really deal with your trust issues." Mickey says, training his gun on them. "I mean, poor Derek. He's completely innocent, and such a nice boy too. He's bright and funny and handsome, decent singing voice, and he was gonna be a doctor. This was just the kind of boy you'd like to take home to mom if you had a mom. Or even one that stuck around."
"Fuck you!" Sidney yells.
"Oh! So vulgar." Mickey says, "Did Billy let you two talk to him this way?"
"Billy was a sick fuck, just like you." Sarah says.
"No, Billy was a sick fuck who tried to get away with it." Mickey says, "Mickey is a sick fuck who wants to get caught. Yeah! See, I've got my whole defense planned out. I'm gonna blame the movies. It's pretty cool, huh? I was gonna try and get away with it and make Sarah here look like she did it, but then I thought 'this hasn't been done before.' You see, this is just the beginning, a prelude to the trial. That's where the real fun is, 'cause these days, it's all about the trial. Can't you see it? The effects of cinema violence on society. I'll get Dershowitz or Cochran to represent me, Bob Dole on the witness stand in my defense. Hell, the Christian Coalition will pay my legal fees. It's airtight, girls." During his monologue, Sidney and Sarah tried to get away, but Mickey pointed his gun at Sidney and his knife at Sarah. "I'm an innocent victim."
"You're psychotic." Sidney says, carefully undoing her necklace that Derek gave her.
"Yeah, well, shh. It'll be our little secret." Mickey says, "'Cause people love a good trial. It's like theatre. They're dying for it. And I've worked hard to give the audience what they want. That's what Billy was good at. He knew... it's all about execution."
"Yeah?" Sarah asks, "Well, you're forgetting one thing about Billy Loomis."
"Oh yeah?" Mickey asks, "What's that?"
Sidney leaned in and whispered "I fucking killed him." before swinging her necklace at Mickey's eyes, stunning him long enough for Sarah to kick him in the shin. The girls tried to run away, but Mickey got up and slammed Sarah into one of the walls of the set before going after Sidney. The girls put up quite a fight against him, but he was soon able to retrieve his weapons and aim each one at them.
"You girls got a Linda Hamilton thing going on." Mickey says. "I like it. It's nice." Suddenly, Derek's body was lifted back into the railings. "Now, who's doing that?" He asks, "Could that be the mystery guest waiting in the wings? Told you girls I had a partner. Surprise cameo just for you."
The girls heard a door behind them and turned to see....
"Gale." Sidney says.
Gale shook her head before someone else entered, pointing a gun at her. It took Sidney a moment, but Sarah recognized the female instantly.
"Mom?" She asks.
