Just Another Cliché

I clearly remember the day I first saw her,
She was in a blue summer dress, Her hair short, eyes hazel.
Her face cradled a tinge of strange happiness,
I bet no mortal could look away after getting a glimpse of her smile, her precious smile.

I was awestruck, I was staring at her,
The more I gazed, the more I fell,
The more I tried looking away, the faster my heart raced.
She was like a starry summer sky, unveiling her beauty with every passing second,
And I, like a mesmerized star gazer, had my eyes fixed on her.

She must have felt that she was being noticed,
She must have felt the pair of eyes staring at her.
She turned and searched the crowd,
That's when our eyes met, for the very first time.
It was just a second long moment,
But the magic at that moment was beyond any earthly pleasure.

In a month's time, we became friends, "Best friends!"
She loved the songs that I loved too,
She read the books I gave her to.
God! we even liked the same k-flicks and dramas!
Coincidence? Blah, I guess not.

I actually don't know when we started being together,
But soon enough we turned inseparable.
She was a terrible comedian, but I always found her puns funny,
I was a terrible dancer, but she always did put up with my moves on the dance floor someway.

I would have loved to kiss her under a lamppost like Ed,
But the street lights here are quite not the perfect place to do so.
Nevertheless, we did kiss under a night sky,
And I'm telling you, it was no less than a scene right out of a movie.

Years rolled by, we grew older,
And yeah we still were so much in love with each other,
She was undoubtedly my only one, my dear precious angel,
And I never wanted to lose her.
I had to make the next move right?
We were not supposed to keep dating forever.
But I had to wait, we were still in college then.

Finally, we graduated,
I was waiting for this to happen and now it was time.

The day was the 25th of October,
I took her to the coffee shop where I first saw my girl, in that blue summer dress, hair short, eyes hazel.
I had planned everything out for a million times in my head,
And now when the moment arrived, I was nervous! Who wouldn't be?

As we walked into the shop full of people,
Balloons started flying, the light turned dim,
I held her hands firmly and went a step further,
She looked at me, her eyes reflecting her confused soul.
I smiled and took a step back,
She knew I was up to something but was eager to know.
I knew this was the moment to make my life complete.

I took her hand and down I came to my knees,

"You know how much I love you right?
You're the only person who can complete me and I surely will keep you safe,
Say yes and we'll spend the rest of our lives together,
Turn grey together, End up in heaven together.
Girl, will you marry me?"
