twenty one
Chomin cackled as he watched the noble of the north come out of the house. Seokjin's expressionless face and solemn eyes told of layers of anger and unrivalled determination that sprung from his mind and body. He was ready to fight for the lives of the ones he loved.
"Oh, it's you!" Chomin laughed, spitting at the ground before him. "Brothers, it's the man that I told you about!"
At that, they all laughed, confusing Seokjin. "...how do you know me..." he asked, turning to his side while still facing the men.
"Choyoung," Chomin smiled, calling out to one of his brothers. "Tell this ironhead how we know him."
"You're the one at the lake! With that little girl my brother killed!" the one named Choyoung cackled.
Seokjin's eyes widened. The memory of the arrow that came from nowhere, shooting through Rinji's heart and killing one of his best friends, flashed through his mind. Tears began to stream down his face, imagining Chomin as the archer who shot that innocent little girl--
"What was her name again, big brother?" Choyoung smiled, smirking at Seokjin. "Kimchi?"
At that, the entire band of men laughed hard, grabbing their stomachs and patting Choyoung on the back. "Kimchi, kimchi," they chanted, disturbing Seokjin's soul and hardening his heart. Reason seeped out of his head, and he began to fume, simmering in boiling anger. It was when Choyoung's eyes met his that Seokjin's last rope of restraint snapped.
He sprinted towards Choyoung at inhumane speed, ignoring everything else around him. All he saw was that cocky smile, those arrogant eyes, even when Choyoung began to cower in fear. Shouting at the top of his lungs, Seokjin suckerpunched the man in the face with full power, sending him down in one blow. His nose gushed with ribbons of blood, and he spit out a molar as he tried to get away from his assailant.
Unfortunately, Seokjin wasn't done yet.
He grabbed Choyoung off the ground and punched him over and over in the face, forehead and temples, spreading the blood everywhere on the two. In no time, Seokjin's hands were covered in his target's blood as he uppercut him over and over.
Now screaming, the noble punched harder as tears continued to flow incessantly from his eyes.
"Rinji," he cried, covering himself in a mess of Choyoung's blood. "Her name was Rinji!"
Chomin and his clan could barely process what was going on. In fear of suffering the same fate as their brother, they had all taken a big step back.
Seokjin's mind was clouded with rage, and all he was capable of doing was destroying what laid in front of him and yelling with all his might: "Her name was Rinji! You have no right to talk about her! Her name was Rinji!"
His muscled ached for a break, but he continued to aggressively punch at Choyoung.
His voice strained and cracked, unable to withstand the high pitches at which Seokjin screamed.
He then grabbed Choyoung's unconscious body, wrapped his hands around his bloody neck, and twisted his arms until he heard a satisfying crack. Panting as he looked at his first victim, his head slowly turned up to look at Choyoung's brothers. Upon first sight, they bolted from the scene.
Panting harder than he ever had, he trembled, slowly standing up and looking down at his work. Drenched in red, he walked back to the house, calling Taehyung, Seonbi and Eunri.
Sura made her way down a small track in the forest, taking the shortcut to Eunri's. She mentally cursed at the overgrown weeds she had to walk through, which only slowed her down. She figured that by now, Chomin would've killed the old woman and taken what she may have had left.
She fumed when Chomin came running back to her and told her otherwise.
"What the fuck?! You didn't kill her?" Sura growled, readying her long, sharp nails to catch some of Chomin's skin. Chomin was about to defend himself when she stopped, realizing that Choyoung wasn't there.
"...weren't there seven of you when you left? Where's the little stocky one?" Sura asked, counting six and including Chomin.
"Someone came out and wrecked him up real bad, Sura," Chomin grumbled, shaking his head. "Choyoung is laying in the street in a pool of blood, neck broken and all."
"Who is this 'someone', Chomin? Be specific with your shit," Sura snapped, infuriated.
"I'm almost certain it was that Seokjin person you keep muttering about," he scoffed, kneeling to the ground. "He seemed like an entirely different person. Choyoung pushed it too far...he killed him in a rage because we made fun of the girl."
She sighed in exasperation, crossing her arms and pacing back and forth. There was nothing in her mind that could make this any worse.
Nothing, that is, until Jungkook and Jimin walked up behind her.
"What are you two doing here?" she said, looking at them both. Jimin caught a glance at the men behind her and, seeing that one of them was Chomin, tugged at Jungkook and caught his attention.
"Fuck this," Jungkook said, turning around -- which gave Jimin room to turn as well.
"Go get my fellow troops. They're at the small inn near the shops where we first saw each other," Jimin whispered. "Take my necklace and tell them that General Park sent you."
Grabbing his jade necklace, Jungkook made it a scene to storm off to fool Sura and the men. "Jimin, handle this bitch," he said aloud, smirking as he walked off.
Jimin faced Sura with a serious face. "Sura, if adultery was a crime, you'd be in prison by now. Better have a good explanation for what you did or we're through."
Little did Sura know that they already were through. Jimin just wanted some time to stall before he could arrest Chomin. He was not only facing Sura, but the head of the Silcho clan. Messing this up could set him back weeks.
"I-I don't know what you're talking about," she said, her eyes pleading for mercy. Jimin internally celebrated. Letting Sura attempt an explanation would surely buy Jungkook time to get the troops. As skilled as he was, Jimin couldn't arrest six men by himself, and now was not the time to be cocky and risk it.
"You liar," he spat, eyeing his former flame as tears began to spill down her eyes. "You kissed lips other than mine, you've desired men other than me, you've wanted people other than me. Who knows, maybe you've slept with other people too."
"N-No, Jimin, that's not true! I've been nothing but loyal!"
Deep down, Jimin felt that all the tears and crying were just a front to make him think she was really sad. But he had no room to talk; he had a real agenda too -- getting all of them arrested. Technically, Sura could also be arrested for conspiracy with the Silcho against the country, which was treason.
And the punishment for treason was death.
"You've been nothing but dishonest, you disgraceful snake!" he cried, slicking his hair back with one hand. "You kissed your own damn servant! Who else is there, huh? Who else have you put your filthy body on?!"
"No one's but yours!" she wailed. "I'm innocent! Why are you treating me like this?! I thought you loved me!"
"Go to hell! I hate you! You hurt me so bad, Sura! Don't ever speak to me again, lying bitch!"
With that, Jimin's voice began to crack with tears. He loved Sura with all his heart, and not only did she cheat on him, but she was on the enemy's side. She was the enemy. As much as he said he hated her and he didn't want to speak to her again, he had secretly hoped that all this was just a nightmare. That he was just dreaming, and he'd wake up sooner or later with her in his arms.
But the feeling of seeing her arrested with the Silcho and taken away was all too real.
Jungkook, sensing that Jimin wasn't feeling too good, wrapped an arm around his hyung. Looking up at Jungkook, the elder sighed, his breath shaky with tears. Jungkook took him into his arms and held him as he cried the pain out.
"Jimin hyung, it's okay. I'm here now, everything is okay."
Comforted by his words, his embrace, and even his scent, Jimin's crying slowly reduced to a whimper.
"Jungkook-ah..."
The younger led his hyung over to a tree, where they sat back and enjoyed the silence.
"Jungkook-ah," Jimin said, taking Jungkook's hand into his.
"Yes, hyung," the younger responded.
"If I were to ask you to come live with me, would you say yes?"
Smiling a bit, Jungkook tested him. "Depends."
"On what?"
"On whether or not you're actually asking me to live with you."
"...come live with me, then."
Jungkook looked at him, gazing at his eyes.
"Really?"
"Really."
Jungkook's wide, beautiful smile gave Jimin the answer.
