Astrid's POV 

It had been a week. A whole week. Hiccup hasn't woken up yet. I spent all my time at the hospital. The gang knew about Hiccup and would come visit sometimes so I could leave the room to get something to eat or to shower or whatever. Stoick came pretty much everyday. Ryan had brought me a duffle bag of my clothes and some of my stuff. She brought me my homework from school everyday too. I was sitting in the chair beside Hiccup's bed holding his hand. I had my head laying on the bed and I was trying to stay awake but it wasn't working very well. I kept drifting off a bit and than waking up again. I was starting to drift off again when I heard a faint voice. 

"Astrid." I heard. I felt fingers curl around my hand and looked up. Hiccup's eyes were open and he was looking at me. He looked exhausted. 

"Hiccup!" I said sitting up. I leaned over hugging him. I felt his arms wrap around my waist. "Hiccup." I said again. I felt tears and I think he felt them too. His arms tightened around me. 

"I'm okay Astrid. I'm okay." He spoke softly to me. 

"I thought I lost you." I told him. 

"You'll never lose me. You know that." He told me. I smiled softly and pulled away looking at him. He had that smirk on his face and I leaned over and kissed him. He didn't take a second to kiss me back. We pulled apart and he wiped the tears from my cheeks. I smiled at him. I laid down beside him and cuddled up to him. 

After a while, a nurse came in and saw Hiccup awake. 

"You're awake Mr.Haddock. That's good." She said. Hiccup smiled. "Can I get you anything."

"Food and water?" He asked softly. 

"Of course." She said smiling and leaving the room. 

"I could've gotten you food and water?" I told him. He held me tight and shook his head. 

"No. I didn't want you to leave." He said. I smiled and kissed his cheek. 

"I've been here all week babe." I told him. "I'm not going anywhere." 

He smiled and kissed me. 

The nurse came back after a little bit and I helped Hiccup sit up. She put his tray of food on his table. 

"How's your leg feeling?" She asked. I widened my eyes. 

"My leg?" He asked. 

"I haven't told him yet." I said. 

"Oh." The nurse said. Hiccup moved the blanket and looked shocked. He didn't say anything for a moment. 

"Hiccup..." I said. 

"My foot....it's gone." He said softly. 

"It was crushed in the car accident you were in." The nurse told him. "It wasn't savable so they amputated your foot." 

I looked at Hiccup who was still in shock. Staring at his left leg. He sighed, and put the blankets back on him. He pulled the table to himself and started to eat. The nurse left the room and I sat in the chair beside the bed. Hiccup just ate. After he was done, I finally spoke up. 

"Hiccup, they're giving you a prosthetic." I told him. He sighed. 

"When?" He asked. 

"I'm not sure. A few days maybe." I told him. 

"Come here." He said patting the bed beside him. I sat next to him. 

"I still love you. Even without a left foot." I smiled at him. He laughed a little. I kissed his cheek.

A few days went by and Hiccup was being sent home. I helped him to the wheelchair they had for him after he managed to get dressed by himself. Stoick was outside at the front of the hospital with the car so we could meet him there. The doctor gave Hiccup some instructions and crutches as well. I had my duffle bag on my shoulder and we thanked the doctor and nurses and headed out of the room and down the hallway. We got to Stoick's car and I helped Hiccup into the car. Stoick put the wheelchair in the trunk and I sat in the back. We got to the house and I helped him back into his wheelchair and into the house. I brought him into the living room. He got up and went to the couch. 

"Hiccup...Be careful." I said watching him hop to the couch from his wheelchair. 

"I'm fine M'lady." He told me. I sighed and put my bag down. 

"Do you want anything?" I asked. 

"Just you." He said with a smirk. I raised an eyebrow. 

"Cute Haddock. Very cute." I said. 

"But no, I'm okay. Just come sit with me." He said. I smiled and sat with him on the couch, he put an arm around me and pulled me against him. I heard Stormfly and Toothless come from another room. Stormfly jumped on the couch and started licking my face. 

"Hey girl! I know, I know. I missed you too." I said petting her. "Get down Stormfly." I told her and she did so. Toothless jumped his front legs onto Hiccup's right leg panting happily. Hiccup smiled at him. 

"Hey bud." He said petting him. Toothless saw Hiccup's left leg and sniffed it and whined a little giving Hiccup sad looking eyes. I looked at the two of them. "I'm okay bud." Hiccup said petting him. Hiccup picked him up and Toothless licked his face. "Uh! Toothless!" He said putting him down again. I couldn't help but laugh.

Later that evening after dinner. I brought my bag and Toothless and Stormfly followed up to Hiccup's room. I went back downstairs and helped Hiccup up the steps. We also had his crutches. We made it up the stairs after a few minutes and to his bedroom. Hiccup looked a little surprised at his room. 

"What happened to it?" He asked. I laughed a little. 

"Nothing really. I had Ryan come over with Heather and asked them to just make it a bit bigger and add some stuff. They moved all of my stuff in here too. I figured since we always sleep in the same bed anyway, and you shouldn't really be alone with your leg. I would put my stuff in here too." I told him. He smiled and kissed my cheek and made his way to this bed with the crutches. Toothless was on his bed and cuddled up to him. Hiccup was petting him. Stormfly brought me a toy and I started playing fetch with her. Which could last forever. Hiccup said he had to go to the bathroom and I offered to help him to the bathroom. But he wanted to go alone. I watched him leave on the crutches and Toothless followed him. I kept playing with Stormfly when I heard a loud noise. 

*BANG!* 

Toothless started barking and I got up. "Hiccup?!" I said. I looked down the hall and saw the bathroom door open. I looked and Toothless was at the top of the stairs barking still. I walked over and heard a grunt. Hiccup was laying at the bottom of the stairs on his back. He looked up at me and smiled nervously.

I couldn't help but laugh at his state. I made my way down the stairs and helped him up. I got him to sit on one of the steps and I sighed and shook my head at him with a smile on my face. 

"Why are you smiling? It hurt." He protested holding his head. 

"You're the one who tried to go down a flight of stairs while missing a foot. It's quite funny." I told him. He groaned in pain. "Where does it hurt." I asked him. 

"My head. My leg. My back." He told me. I smiled trying not to laugh and kissed his cheek. I kissed his bandages and his forehead. 

"Better?" I asked smiling. He smirked and kissed me on the lips. 

"Yes. Thank you." He said. I smiled and helped him up.

It was the middle of the night and I was asleep. But somewhat awake too. I was tossing and turning a lot. I fell asleep for a little while. 

"Mom leave him alone!" I yelled. 

We were in my old apartment. My mom was standing in front of me, Hiccup was next to me. 

"Why? You care about him?" My mother snapped. 

"Of course I do! I love him!" I said. 

"HA! No one knows what love is, and no one will ever love you. You're worthless Astrid." She said. 

"Hiccup loves me!" I yelled. 

"Than I'll just have to do this." She said pulling out a gun and pulling the trigger. 

"Mom no!" I said. 

The gun went off and it was I couldn't move I watched it hit Hiccup in the chest. Right in the heart. Killing him. 

"Hiccup." I said kneeling beside him. "Hiccup, no, no, no." I tried to stop the bleeding but it wouldn't work. I was all of sudden surrounded by darkness with a lifeless Hiccup body in front of me. 


"HICCUP!!!" I screamed shooting up from the bed. I was breathing heavily, tears streaming down my face, trying to calm myself down. I felt a nuzzle on my hand and saw Stormfly and petted her. 

"Astrid." I heard beside me. I turned to look beside me and Hiccup was sitting up looking at me confused. 

"Hiccup!" I said hugging him. I clung to him. I wouldn't let go. He wrapped his arms around me tight and put his fingers through my hair. My braid was really loose and starting to fall out. "She killed you." I told him through sobs. 

"Who did?" He asked. 

"My mom. She shot you." I told him crying. 

"Astrid, it was a dream. I'm okay." He said holding me. "I'm okay." He kept talking to me. Saying soothing words, calming me down. After a few minutes we laid back down and I snuggled right up against him. Not letting go. I felt him kiss my head. "I love you." He told me. I sighed and held him tighter. 

"I love you too." I told him. 

We eventually fell asleep again.

It had been a few days and a therapist came with Hiccup's prosthetic. I welcomed them inside and brought them to the living room where Hiccup was. 

"Hiccup." I said. He turned to me. "This is Maya, your therapist." He smiled at her. She had a couple of bags with her. I went and sat next to Hiccup. Maya knelled in front of him. Hiccup had shorts on so that she could easily access the part of his leg that need to have the prosthetic attached. She put a piece of fabric on first, and then the actual prosthetic. She helped Hiccup stand up and told him how to use it. How to take it off and put it on. Everything he needed to know. She was there for about an hour before she left. She would be coming by every day for a while.

It had been a month and Hiccup knew everything he needed to know about his prosthetic. The therapy was done. Maya told us to call if we ever needed too. We thanked her. Toothless and Stormfly still found Hiccup's 'new leg' quite strange. They would sniff at it a lot. Toothless seemed to start to notice that it was like his back left leg as well. Like they had a small bond of both missing a foot. 

Hiccup had to start going to school again on Monday. He hadn't been since before the accident. The only reason I had gone was for homework. I could tell that Hiccup seemed a little nervous to go back to school. I kept trying to reassure him that he would be fine and it would be okay. But he seemed doubtful. It was Sunday evening and we were sitting on the couch watching tv. 

"You still worried about tomorrow?" I asked him. I had my head on his lap and looked up at him. He had been playing with my hair. 

"Yeah. Just of what people will say." He told me. I held his free hand. 

"I'll beat anyone up that makes fun of you." I told him. He smirked. 

"No need for that M'lady. But thank you." He said. He leaned down and kissed my forehead. 

"I'm sure I'll survive. But having you in all of my classes will be nice." He told me. I smiled at him. 

"I love you Hiccup Haddock." I said. 

"I love you too Astrid Hofferson." He told me. 

He kissed me and I smiled. We stayed up for a little bit longer before going to bed that night.

This took me FOREVER to write today!!! I was having a hard time writing it!!
