Astrid's POV 

I was getting dressed in the same pencil skirt, blouse and blazer I wore to my father's court hearing. I had another court hearing today. It was for Liam. To be honest. I was terrified to face him. I haven't seen him since the day Hiccup beat him up. I was putting my hair up in a french braid and finished my make-up when I heard Hiccup calling me. 

"I'm coming!" I shouted back. I slipped on my flats and grabbed my small purse and headed downstairs. Hiccup had some breakfast made for me. I smiled at him. "Thank you." I said kissing his cheek. I took a bite of the toast that was on my plate. He set a glass of orange juice next to my plate. 

After I was finished I went and brushed my teeth and we were ready to go. Hiccup came with me again. I liked having him there. I felt a lot more relaxed. 

When we got there Hiccup sat down with me until they asked me to come over to the trial area. They were talking to me and asking me some questions, they had gotten me a lawyer. Hiccup was paying for it. Thank Thor for that. I took a seat next to my lawyer and she was talking to me about some stuff. I heard a door open and looked to see Liam. We made eye contact. He had an angry look and I saw him gain up speed to come towards me. He raised his hands together, since they were in handcuffs and I braced myself for a hit. It didn't happen and I looked and saw cops had him and forced him to his seat. 

"Let me get her!" I heard him say. The cops sat him down and handcuffed him to the chair so he couldn't move. I took a deep breathe at what had almost happened. 

The judge came in and the trial started. I ended up not having to say to much which I was thankful for. The lawyers did most of the fighting. 

"My client does not need to be put in prison for what he did." Liam's lawyer said. 

"Yes, he does. He raped my client in a supply closet at their high school during class time. He had been abusing her and beating her prior to this. She didn't want to have sex with him, and he wouldn't take no for an answer and took advantage of her. He is guilty. He needs to be locked up. He is 18 years old and it is considered a crime." My lawyer said sternly defending me. 

It went back and forth for a while yet and finally the jury had to go discuss to come up with a verdict. I sat in my chair quietly. I was twiddling my thumbs and waiting for them to come back. After a good 10 minutes or so they returned. The judge came back up and we stood up. 

"A decision has been made. Liam Johnson, you are guilty for the abuse and rape of Astrid Hofferson. You are being given 5 years in prison." She banged her mallot. "Case closed." She said. 

I could tell Liam was mad. The cops escorted him out and I walked out of the room and Hiccup was in the hallway before I was. I saw him and let out a sigh. He gave me a hug. 

"You don't need to worry about it anymore." He said. 

"I know. But I still have one more court hearing for my mother." I said. 

"Yes. But not for a few more weeks." 

My lawyer came up and was talking to us for a minute. We thanked her and said we would be in touch soon. I needed her for the court hearing against my mother as well. 

We headed back to Hiccup's house and I was quiet the whole ride home. When we got there we went upstairs to change. I went into my room and found an over-sized grey t-shirt I have and some black leggings. I took off my blazer and hung it up. I took off my blouse and skirt and hung those up too. I put on my leggings and my shirt and took my hair out of the french braid, and put into a side braid instead. I headed downstairs and where the stairs were at the top I could see into Hiccup's room, he didn't close his door all the way and he didn't have a shirt on and I couldn't help but look. I bite my lower lip at the side view of his body, he looked to have a six pack. I caught my breathe and saw him heading for the door after he slipped a black t-shirt on. I went downstairs kind of quickly and into the kitchen. I opened the fridge and found some juice. I poured myself a glass and opened the freezer to find some chicken and took it out. I filled up a bowl with warm water and set the package of chicken in it to thaw it out. Hiccup came in and saw me. 

"What are you doing?" He asked. I looked at him. 

"Thawing out chicken. For supper. I'll make supper tonight." I told him. He came up to me and put his arms around my waist. I looked at him and smiled. 

"Do you wanna do something?" He asked. 

"Like what?" 

"I don't know. Watch TV or something." 

"Or, you can help me cook." I said looking at him. 

"Okay." He said smiling and kissed me. "What do you want me to do?"

"Well is it just us two? or will your dad be home?" 

"I don't know. He seems to be out really late the last few nights." 

"So just us?" 

"I guess so." 

"Alright. So you can get carrots and celery and onions out of the fridge and start cutting them up for me." 

"Anything for you m'lady." He said opening the fridge. I went to the cupboard and got the spices I needed for the chicken. I got a clove of garlic as well. After a couple of hours I cooked the chicken and it was gonna take about an hour to cook. So Hiccup and I decided to bake some cookies for after supper. 

"Chocolate chip?" He suggested. 

"Oatmeal Chocolate chip?" I said. He smiled. 

"Sure!" He said. 

We got everything we needed to start baking the cookies with. As we started Hiccup took some flour in his hand and I looked away from him rolling my eyes and shaking my head. 

"Hey Astrid." He said. 

"Yes, Hiccup?" I said turning to him the next thing I knew my face was covered in flour. Hiccup had it in his hand and blew it in my face. "Hiccup!!" I said. I grabbed an egg and tossed gently in my hand. He realized what I was gonna do and ran for it. 

"No! Astrid! I'm sorry! Please don't!" He said. I caught up behind him and cracked it on his head in his hair and started laughing. 

"That's what you get!" I told him. He turned to me and sighed. I raised an eyebrow and he grabbed me by my waist pulling me close and I gasped at the sudden movement. 

"Come here you." He said before kissing me. I laughed a little and smiled in the kiss. When we broke apart we went back to the kitchen and I grabbed a wash cloth and started to wash the egg out of his hair. After I got it out I rinsed it and he took it and wiped the flour off of my face. I smiled at him and kissed his cheek. "I love you Astrid Hofferson." He said kissing my forehead. 

"I love you too Hiccup Haddock." I said smiling at him. 

We finished making the cookie dough and placed them on a tray. The chicken was done and Hiccup prepared the chicken with a salad on two plates for us. He set them on the table and got two glasses of water. I put the cookies in the oven and sat down with him. We had a nice dinner together talking and laughing. When the oven beeped I went and took the cookies out. 

We finished dinner and cleaned up. Did the dishes, dried and put them away. I put the cookies on a plate and Hiccup grabbed two glasses and the jug of milk in the fridge and we went upstairs to his bedroom. We turned a movie on and ate up all the cookies and had most of the jug of milk too. I moved them off the bed and cuddled up to Hiccup and he put an arm around me.

 I started playing with his hand. He kissed my head and I looked at him and smiled. He kissed my lips and went to pull away and I wouldn't let him. I put my arms around his neck and we continued to kiss. His arms tightened around my waist and he moved so he was on top of me. We continued kissing and I felt his tongue asking for entrance and I allowed it. I moved my hands down his back to the hem of his shirt I felt his hands go under mine and start to lift it. We broke apart for a moment and I took of his shirt and he took off mine. He started kissing me again and moved to my jaw line and than to my neck. I gasped slightly and his hands moved up and down my back. He bite my neck slightly and I let out a soft moan. He kept kissing my neck and moved to my shoulder pulling my bra strap down. He started kissing my collarbone and I felt his hands go up for my bra and find the clip to undo it. I pulled away from him and sat up before he could undo it, pulling my strap back up. He looked at me slightly worried. 

"I'm sorry." I said softly. I pulled my knees up to my chest and held them. "I just..." I stopped. I felt Hiccup kiss my head. 

"It's okay. I get it. I'm sorry." He said. I looked at him. 

"Why are you apologizing? It's not your fault. I mean, I would love to do this sometime. But I just, I'm not completely comfortable doing it yet, after what Liam did." I told him. He handed me my shirt and I smiled at him putting it back on. he put his back on too. 

"We can do it when you're ready. Okay?" He told me. I looked at him smiling and leaned over and kissed him. I put my forehead against his. 

"Thank you Hiccup." I said. He smiled and kissed my forehead. 

We lied back down and continued to watch the movie. We eventually fell asleep in his bed together.

A few days went by and it was a Saturday. Hiccup and I were heading to a pet store. We both wanted a puppy for a pet. When we got there we got inside and they brought us to an area of puppies that needed to be adopted. Some were abandoned or not treated well. I was looking around and drawn to a small little golden retriever. I smiled when I saw her and knelled by her cage and put my hand at it. She licked it and bite it playfully.

"Hi there cutie." I said and let her play with my fingers. I looked over and Hiccup was smiling at me. He was looking at some puppies as well. There was a small black lab laying on its side in it's cage and staring at the door. Hiccup saw him and put his hand through the bar. The puppy struggled a little to get up at first and it finally did and limped over to Hiccup's hand licking it he bite it and Hiccup didn't feel it at all, it was like the puppy was toothless. Hiccup smiled and than noticed something.

The black lab puppy had a prosthetic leg on it's back left. It was a red and white leg and Hiccup frowned a little at the sight of it.

"We found him on the street. We think he was hit by a car." The lady working there told him. Hiccup sighed looking back at the puppy. The puppy didn't leave Hiccup's glance. Hiccup came and knelled by me.

"You like this one?" He asked. I nodded.

"She's cute, and feisty." I said smiling. Hiccup smiled. We heard small barking and whimpering and Hiccup looked back at the cage where the black lab was. The puppy was staring at Hiccup with sad eyes. Hiccup smirked and went back over to it. 

"I guess we're taking two home today." He said and I looked at him. He smiled at me.

The lady working there unlocked the cages for us and we carried them. She gave us a dog carrier, big enough they could both fit in there. They seemed to get along fine.

"Those two play together a lot." She told us. "When we bring them out to the yard, the little black one is slower and limps, and the golden one, she always seemed drawn to him, and would play with him gently."  

We smiled at each other while signing papers for them. It asked for names for our dogs and I saw Hiccup write down 'Toothless'. I looked at him funny. 

"He bite me, and I didn't even feel it at all." He said. "It was like he was toothless." I smiled. He slid the paper over to me and I wrote Stormfly down on the paper. I signed it and we handed it back to the lady. We bought some food, two dog beds, and some dog bowls, and collars and leashes for them. 

When we got back home we let them free in the house to let them explore it. I saw Toothless limping, but he was still pretty quick. Stormfly walked at the same pace as him and stayed by his side the whole time. I thought it was adorable. We set up their beds in the hallway at the top of the stairs against the wall. They got into the same one and cuddled up to each other and fell asleep. 

Hiccup held me by my waist and whispered in my ear. "Should we cuddle too?" He said and I smiled and laughed a little. 

"If you want too." I said. He smiled and kissed my cheek. 

"My room or yours?" He asked. 

"Mine?" I asked. 

"Sure." He said kissing my cheek. "I'll be there in a minute." He said walking to his room and changing. I went to my room and changed too I came out of my closet and Hiccup walked into the room at the same time. He grabbed me and kissed me. "I love you." He said. I smiled and kissed him back. 

"I love you too." I said. I walked away and got into my bed. He joined me and we had the covers over us. He held me right against him and I found myself getting more comfortable with Hiccup the longer and more time we spent together.

A few weeks went by and I had my 'court' outfit on again. This time it was for my mom. We got there and the trial didn't last very long at all. They all knew my mother was guilty of what she had done. They also found out that she had been an alcoholic for a while and would let her boyfriends hurt me along with her hurting me too. 

"You shot your daughter, and you beat her, and allowed boyfriends of yours to beat her." My lawyer said. "You have no right to your daughter anymore Mrs.Hofferson. Especially since she is 18 and legal age to live without an adult guardian." 

The trial went on for a while and finally the jury left to discuss. When they come back the verdict was that my mom was guilty and was sentence to 20 years to life in prison. Same as my father. They dismissed the trial and Hiccup and I left. 

I went into the living room and took off my shoes and sat on the couch sighing. Hiccup came in with a glass of water for me. I thanked him and drank some of it. 

"I'm so glad this is over with. For now at least." I said. We didn't say much for a little bit. We both decided to go change and we went back downstairs and on the couch. I laid on the couch and put my head on Hiccup's lap. We had the TV on but we weren't paying much attention. I was looking up at Hiccup and we were talking. 

We talked for a while and he leaned down and kissed my forehead. I smiled and held his hand. 

All I can do was think of how lucky I was to have Hiccup. He loved me, really loved me. It was the first time in my life that I had a guy love and care about me and I loved him too. 

I love Hiccup.
