Finally, it was over. Virgil hated Chemistry, he had no friends in his class, and usually sat alone. At least he wasn't being bullied 

Walking down the corridor to the room where he, Logan, Patton and Roman usually met, he remembered the letter. Virgil quickly went to his locker to grab it before continuing on. 

When he got to the room Patton immediately noticed the letter 

"What's that?" He asked 

"It appeared in my locker this morning. It's probably just a cruel joke or something" 

"Maybe it's not, go ahead, open it!" 

"I too, am curious to see what's inside" Logan said. 

Virgil ripped the sticker and pulled a letter out the envelope. It was written in the same purple ink and handwriting as the "Virgil" on the front. He started to read, his friends crowded around him. 

"Hey there. I don't really know how to start this so I guess I'll just say it. 

I really like you. 

My heart beats faster every time I see you, and everything you do makes me blush. The way you flick your hair out your eyes, the way you always seem like you're seeing the world differently to everyone else, like you're looking through tinted glasses.

Virgil immediately put the letter down on the table. 

"I wonder who it's from?" Roman wondered out loud, always the romantic one of the group.

"You don't understand" Virgil said "This person... I'd never be able to love them back, even if I wanted to" 

"Why?" Said Patton 

"Because the likelihood of the situation is that this person is a girl" Logan adjusted his glasses 

"Exactly, nobody know I'm..." Virgil lowered his voice "Nobody knows I'm you-know-what yet" 

"Well why don't you tell them?" Roman interrupted "Shout from the rooftops how proud you are to be you! We've all done it, and we're fine." 

Virgil immediately protested to this "The reason you're fine is because you're the most popular guy on the school, the reason Patton's fine is because nobody would insult him, and the reason Logan's fine is because nobody cares if he's gay or not. When you all came out, nobody's opinions of you changed." Virgil sighed "Look, the only way I avoid bullying in this school is by keeping my head down and not standing out. What you're suggesting is the complete opposite of that. My life would be turned on it's head, you know this." 

Everyone was quiet for a moment 

"Well why don't you write back?" 

Virgil looked up, surprised, at Logan 

"How would that help?" 

"If they're a boy, then you'll know. You might even be able to come out to them, as if they're your 'secret admirer' they must be LGBTQ+, too. If they're a girl you can always say you were checking as you're not gay." 

"I guess that could help... But how will I make sure they get the letter?" 

"Put it in your locker. Chances are they'll go in to leave you another letter and find it."

"I guess that could work..." Virgil sighed.  "Look, I'll think about it, but no promises, okay?"

"Okay" Logan replied
