Chapter 3: With a Gun
"Alexander!" Eliza looked at him. He continued on.
"Are you tainting balls too?" He stepped closer to Samuel, who carefully directed me a little bit behind him. Once he did this he glanced at Hercules for approval. He nodded. The group was watching intently. "Are you gonna preach your loyalism here too?"
"Sir, I-" Samuel started, before getting cut off.
"It talks!" Alexander said in a "hurrah" tone. "But we already knew that."
"Sir, I'm here with her sister." He pointed to Eliza, who crossed her arms and turned towards Alex for his rebuttal.
"So you're Bianca." He looked at me, then back at Samuel. "You're lucky she's a Sister."
"I am." Samuel nodded. Alexander whisked Eliza away again as another song started up. Samuel glanced at me and held out his hand.
(This isn't gonna be that cringy slow dance "I love you" scene,, If any readers (havent got any just yet) want that kind of chapter then I can give it a go.)
"Sure." I nodded, but before he left me into the dance floor, I grabbed Angelica's hand and brought her with us. Samuel chuckled and she held out her hand to him so we could dance as a group.
By the end of the song, we were all laughing.
"I'll go get some drinks." I told them.
~Angelica's POV~
"I'll go get some drinks." Bianca told us, walking towards the table. I turned towards Samuel Seabury.
"What are your plans with my sister?" I demanded.
"What?" His brown eyes snapped towards me. "I... I plan on taking her to the park after the ball to get to know eachother-"
"That's not what I meant." I sighed. "Are you going to be with her, then leave, be with her and stay, or just be her friend?"
"I... I don't know." Samuel shook his head.
"Well, figure it out." I ordered. Bianca come back.
~Bianca's POV~
I returned with three flutes of champagne. Angelica took hers, spotted John Laurens, and sped off.
"That was sudden." I smiled, straightening my dress.
"Your sister is, uh..." He trailed off in search of words.
"Scary?" I offered. He did finger-guns with a grin.
"That's the word." Samuel nodded. I looked past him to see something that made my heart drop. It was my father observing Alexander and Eliza dancing. Samuel turned to see what I was looking at. I redirected his attention.
"Let's go out side." I said hurriedly, taking his hand and leading him out the back door, which opened right into a pitch black alley.
"Bianca?" He asked when the door was closed. "Are you still there?"
"Yes." I had let go of his hand an instant before.
"Why are we outside?" Samuel asked. I could just barely see him holding his hands out to feel for a wall.
"My father showed up." I explained.
"Oh." He stopped. "Is that bad?"
"Yes." I nodded, although he couldn't see it. I tried to walk towards him, but tripped on an unknown object and fell. Samuel heard the ruckus and instinctively reached out to try and catch me. He just barely missed and we both toppled over. During the horribly fast trip downwards, he angled to where my head would land on his chest.
The impact of the ground sounded a dull thud. As soon as my head landed oh his slim chest, I jumped up and crouched beside him. Before crouching down, I put portions of the front of my dress into the hooks on the front. (Newsies Broadway, Katherine does this during King of New York.)
"Are you okay?" I asked. He sat up a little bit.
"I'm fine." He laughed, rubbing the back of his head. I stood up and held up my hand for him to grab. He did, and when he was up, he kissed my hand. I smiled and we carefully went into the streets on the opposite end of the building.
"Eliza just had to choose Hamilton." I sighed, shaking my head.
"Maybe he's a good person." Samuel reasoned.
"Maybe." I shrugged. "But why are you so forgiving? You're the one he targets."
"My father used to tell me not to take the bait." The boy with reddish-brown hair told me, adjusting his coat.
"What?" I cocked my head.
"Think of a bear trap." He elaborated. "Someone lays down the bait, and if you take it then you get trapped in offense and anger."
"So... You didn't take the bait?" I said slowly.
"Precisely." Samuel nodded. "Alexander laid down bait yesterday, and I chose not to take it."
"That's very big of you." I smiled.
"I've been told that a few times, but I'm just saving myself from getting upset too often." He glanced up at the waning gibbous moon.
(A/n: That's a thing I learned at church.)
"That's smart." I nodded, looking up as well. Out of the corners of my eyes, I saw that his hair looked to have a blueish tint in the moonlight.
"Have you ever had any pets?" He asked suddenly, eyes snapping to me.
"My father never let us have any." I shook my head. "Have you?"
"I have a dog named York." He told me excitedly.
"York!" I echoed. "What kind of dog is he?"
"I'm not sure." Samuel looked down for a moment to ponder. "I think he's part of that german breed."
"What does he look like?" I asked. I had read a book about dogs and short while before.
"Well, uh, he's fluffy and white. He's got black paws and pointy ears." He described.
"I wish I had a dog." I thought back to all those years of begging for a pet.
"Do you want to meet him?" Samuel was suddenly excited.
"Uh, sure!" I wouldn't want to disappoint him. It's always fun to meet a dog. Samuel nodded and stopped walking, glancing around.
"This way!" He declared, leading us to the left. We reached a small neighborhood and stopped at a house with pale green paint. The little front yard contained well kept grass. He led me up to the front door, whipped out a key, and slowly creaked open the door. Almost instantly, shrill yapping erupted from the inside.
"Will he run away?" I asked. I'd be awful if it was my fault Samuel lost his dog.
"No." He shook his head, swinging the door open. A big, white being flung itself onto Samuel, causing him to double back. The dog jumped down from him and tried to jump on me, but Samuel grabbed the crimson bandana and tugged York back. "No, Yorkie. We're still working on jumping."
"That's okay." I laughed. Still holding onto York, Samuel shuffled inside and flicked on the lights. (Light switches weren't invented yet, but I really did not want to write thousands of candles in).
"You ready?" Samuel glanced at me.
"Yes." I nodded. He hesitantly released the dog, who hurled himself at me. Before leaping, he stopped and sat, tail wagging. Samuel's hands went up triumphantly.
"That's never happened before!" He frantically. I held out my hand for York to sniff. His head stretched forward and placed his face in my hand. Samuel shot forward and ruffled York's fur. "Good boy!"
"He's never done this before?" I checked.
"Never!" He beamed, kneeling down to pet the dog. York turned to him and yapped, tail thrashing back and forth. I did the same and York offered me his paw.
"I should get a dog." I decided, shaking it.
"You seemed to be good with them." Samuel nodded, looked at me. York toppled over, paws in the air. Samuel vigorously rubbed the dogs belly. "This is something he does alot."
~Time skip 10 minutes~
We're at Samuel Seabury's house playing with his dog.
"Oh, no." I gasped. "My father's going to kill me.
"Then we should get you home." Samuel said grimly. "Let's take York."
"Let's?" I echoed.
"Well, yeah." He stared at me. "I can't let you walk home alone."
"Angelica would kill you." I laughed.
"I'm sure your father would too." He replied with a grin, opening the door for me. I curtseyed, walking through. York trotted happily ahead, glancing back occasionally to see if Samuel and I were still there.
When we reached my house, my father was standing on the patio with a gun.
