Chapter 2 - First Day
I woke up the next morning at 6 and got ready for my first day. I wanted to make a good impression so I wore nice clothes. Not formal, like a dress, but... like, a clean shirt and pants... it doesn't matter. I combed my hair, did anything else I had to, then left. I would get breakfast on the way. I got to the castle by 8.
Toriel was waiting for me, and she was smiling, "Excellent, my child. You are right on time. I want you to be here by 8. That's enough time for you to be ready and get here, yes?"
"Yes, it is." I grinned.
Toriel sighed, "Well... Asgore and I have to go soon, anyway. I think they're ready for you. They're in the room with a flower on it. It'll be easy to see. Anyway, I have to get going. We don't have much time until we go. Oh, and... thank you for doing this. I hope that they won't be a problem."
"You are welcome, my queen. I hope so, too." I agreed, smiling.
Toriel opened the door and left with Asgore. I hopped, happily, through the door before closing it and sighing. This place was mostly clean.
"PRINCESS?! PRINCE?! WHERE ARE YOU!" I screamed.
A big, booming voice replied, "WHO ARE YOU?! WHY ARE YOU IN MY CASTLE?!"
I was a little scared, "Heir to the throne, your mother, Queen Toriel, has given me a job to take care of you while she and King Asgore are away."
"STAY AWAY! LEAVE AND DON'T COME BACK!" They shouted.
I tried to not show fear, "COME OUT AND SHOW YOURSELF! I'M NOT SCARED OF YOU!"
They laughed, "That's what they all say..."
... now, I was scared.
"SHOW YOURSELF, BEAST! ... OR I SHALL FIND YOU! REVEAL YOURSELF!" I screamed, trying not to cry.
This job has barely started, and I'm about to get killed...
Then I just heard laughter. Evil laughter.
A white, furry, small, goat boy wearing a yellow and green striped shirt and black pants jumped out of the shadows, almost scaring me.
"... who are you?" I asked, cautious and scared if there was something bad here...
The goat frowned, "Did I scare you?"
"... Yes, you did..." I admitted.
The goat grinned, "Howdy! I'm Prince Asriel Dreemurr!"
"You are one weird heir to the throne..." I whispered.
Asriel smiled, "I'm just a kid. What did you expect?"
"The god of absolute hyperdeath..." I whispered.
He laughed, "Anyway... you said that Mom told you to take care of me while her and Dad were gone, correct?"
"Yes, and I am getting paid to do so, as it is apparently my job." I smiled, "So... what would you like to do, your highness?"
He groaned, "First of all... DON'T call me that. I'm just like the rest of you. Second, I'm probably just going to let you do little things today, since it is your first day... I might let you meet Flowey... but I don't think you'd like him... nobody does."
"Who is Flowey?" I asked, "Also, you aren't. You're royalty. It's in your blood."
He frowned, "I don't want to tell you. Just... don't go in my room. That's where he resides."
"Okay. So... what can I do?" I asked.
He sighed, "I already told you... do little things."
"Okay, that's fine. What about you? I'm supposed to be taking care of you." I reminded him.
He grinned, "I'm fine. I'll be in my room... just knock if you need anything. They won't be back until 8 PM. It's weird how only now they ask for help... much less from a human... never mind... it doesn't matter. Bye."
He went up the stairs and I just dusted and cleaned things... small things.
At 11:30 I knocked on the door. I could hear arguing.
"Asriel?" I asked.
"Um... yeah?" He asked, opening the door.
I smiled, "I'm making lunch right now. Is there anything I need to know? Like, are you allergic to anything?"
He frowned, "Peanuts. That's all."
Bummer... I wanted to make PB & J sandwiches. Hmm...
"Anything you'd like to have?" I asked.
He smiled, "Just some left over chicken. It's fine. Chicken, and a separate plate with dirt and two cups of water..."
"Alright. I'll be back." I agreed.
30 minutes later, I gave him what he wanted.
He smiled, "Thanks."
The dirt and two cups of water were a weird request, though... oh. Flowey. Change the y to an r. Flower. Ohh. That explains the dirt and two cups instead of one...
I continued to dust and clean, when Asriel suddenly came down stairs.
"What is it, Asriel?" I asked.
He smiled, "Its 6:30. Bath time. Bedtime is 7, sharp."
"Then why am I here until 8?" I asked.
He stared at the floor, "I have trouble with sleeping sometimes... nightmares... I'll start screaming and thrashing and crying..."
"What do you have nightmares about?" I asked.
He started to cry, "... death... what I did as a flower... Chara..."
"... Do you sleep in your parents room when that happens?" I asked.
He smiled, "No... Flowey gets taken to the dining room. He ends up back in my room in the morning."
"Oh. Does that help?" I asked.
He grinned, "Yes."
"Okay, good. Anyway... let's get you clean for bedtime." I grinned.
*one half hour spent taking bath and getting dressed later*
He smiled and ran to his room yelling, "I don't need any help!"
"Okay. I'll just be sitting behind your door." I smiled, following him up the stairs and doing exactly that.
I ended up falling asleep and woke up in the morning to a stabbing pain in my back. I was confused and was wondering why I felt this... until I heard a voice.
"Hello?"
Memories of yesterday came back to me and I was distracted. I was smiling like and idiot.
I snapped back to reality after hearing the voice again.
"Um... can I PLEASE get out of my room?"
