"I'll buy some clothes tomorrow." She nodded as she put on Victor's sweater over some loose grey sweatpants and a black shirt.

"Do you want anything right now?" She shook her head. "Ok. It's time to go." She was about to grab her duffel bag but Victor called dibs on it. "You know what?" Victor asked as he drove out of the hospital parking lot.

"What?" She asked.

"I'm dying for a milkshake."

"Go for it I'm not stopping you." She smiled.

"What flavor do you want?" He asked as he drove into a McDonald's drive thru.

"Oreos." He only nodded before turning around and ordered.

She drank her milkshake in silence for a long time while listening to song albums by Motley Crue and Pink Floyd.

"If you want you can change the music."

"No. I like this music." She answered as Cherry Pie by Warrant started playing."

"Really?" She nodded. "Why?" She shrugged. "Oh. By the way you'll start school in 3 days."

"Ok."

"How are you feeling?" He asked.

"I'm ok."

"Don't lie." A car almost hit them but Victor saw it coming from the corner of his eye and put the car on rear, escaping the impact." "I know you're not."

"Probably not but right now I am." The car that almost hit them started cursing at them. Danny and Victor's reaction was to stick their middle fingers up without giving a fuck. "Well. You're an asshole." Victor laughed as he watched the man get out of his car.

"It goes back around." They both laughed.

"Aren't you scared?" Victor asked as he eyed the angry man approach them.

"Sort of." The way the man walked reminded her of Gabriel.

"You shouldn't be. People who are like that are major cock-sucking-cowards looking for a victim to take it all out on." "I think he has something in his pocket." Danny pointed to a bulge on the man's pocket.

"Either his wallet or a knife." He lowered the window.

"Who the fuck do you think you are, blind faggot?"

"I know that I'm not a wannabe junkless redneck." The man flung a fist at Victor, hitting him on the left cheek.

"Watch and learn." Victor grabbed the man's fist, yanked hard and twisted it until she heard a popping sound. The man screamed in pain until he elbowed him hard on the throat.

"What do you think I did?" He asked as the two of them heard the man struggling to scream in pain on the ground.

"Umm, dislocate his wrist?" Victor shook his head.

"Shoulder." He corrected her as he started driving. "He deserves worse."

"In a way he actually did."

"Why do you say that?" He asked trying to understand her mind.

"What you did to him was probably the same thing he's done to someone which is somehow justice."

"But there's a catch." Victor smiled as he waited for the light to turn green.

"What is it?"

"If one man gets rid of all the man he resembles eventually there will be only one left. And that would be the man itself."

"I know what you're trying to do."

"Yeah but it's impossible to do it."

"Your room is down the hall, next to mine."

"Ok." She nodded as she walked towards a door right down the hall, opened it and turned the lights on.

"If anything always keep your phone and duffel bag with you. If we get split up, search for the third hotel listed in the phone book, yellow pages." She nodded as she closed the door behind her. She took her converse off and fell asleep without bothering about pulling on her blanket.

She waked up an hour later. For some reason she had adapted herself to sleep for 2 hours, depending on her state of mind. She wasn't used to the idea of having a roof over her head, a bed, and more clothes she had ever had after her mother died. She made her way towards the front door where she sat and stared at the night sky.

"Couldn't sleep?" Victor startled her. She thought everyone was asleep not expecting Victor to sneak up next to her without making noise.

"Don't worry about it." He sat next to her.

"Why shouldn't I?" He asked as he handed her a blanket.

"Cause I don't have a specific sleeping schedule to stick to."

"You're supposed to sleep more."

"I'm ok."

"No, you're not, kid." Victor looked frustrated.

"What about you? Why are you up right now?" She asked trying to steer the conversation away from her.

"I got insomnia after I became a mercenary, heck I lie to my shrinks saying I can't sleep cause I'm stressed."

"What keeps you up?" She asked.

"Maybe the thought of someone hunting me in my own home. I'm sure you get the feeling sometimes."

"Yeah, almost every night when he got drunk.

"Is that why you barely sleep?"

"No. After he started kicking me out I started getting used to not having more than 3 or 4 hours."

"What's the longest you've gone without sleep?"

"4 almost 5 days on 3 hours total."

"When did this happen?"

"All the time." She shrugged. "You?"

"Full week on 3 to 4 hour in total." The night was cold but that didn't stop both, Danny and victor from enjoying it. "How long without eating?"

3 days. You?" She asked Victor as the thought of having her mother alive and sitting next to her appeared in her mind.

"5 days." He got up with his spot and came back with two hot chocolate mugs. "Well in here you're going to sleep. You'll be fed, safe and protected."

"Why did you adopted me?" She asked as she sipped on her mug.

"I don't think you'll want to know." He blew the steam away.

"Try me."

"Believe me. You do not want to know about it." He chuckled nervously.

"So?" She asked uninterested.

"Do you really want to know?" She nodded. "Ok" He mixed tequila into his hot drink and took a sip, he then took Danny's mug away and placed the two mugs on the floor.

"You're my biological daughter." She didn't make much of it, just shrugged her shoulders. "Are you ok?" He asked.

"Yeah."

"Aren't you angry at me or something?" He asked concerned.

"I'm sure you had your reasons to have left me with mom back then." She sounded melancholic to the memory of her mother.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know that the child she was pregnant with was mine." His voice cracked. "Heck. If I knew I would've married her and killed the son of a bitch a long time ago."

"It's ok. I don't mind it."

"I promise I will make it up to you."

"Look." She placed her hand on Victor's shoulder. "I don't want anything, not even the years you weren't there for me." She smiled.

"But......"

"It's already enough with what you've done so far......dad." He smiled.

"Where do you want to got tomorrow?"

"I don't know." She answered as she took her mug and looked at the starry night.
