How long have you been writing? That's sort of hard to answer. I've been writing stories since I was a child. I always got high marks in English Creative writing.I started a novel when I was about 15. But then life happened. As did it again when I started a second novel at 17. And another when I was about 21. But I joined Wattpad two years ago when I was 23 and have been writing every single day since! It felt amazing to rediscover a passion that has always been there.
What do you love about writing? I love the escape. I love being the one to decide the rules. I love that so much expression exists in words. Creating emotions and hearing that people felt them the way that you intended, it's incredible. I get to decide the endings and there are endless possibilities. I also love that if I want to read it, I can write it. I don't have to wait for someone else to create what I can.
What's your favourite genre to write and why? Probably young/new adult. I love touching on subjects that perhaps more young adults need to know about. And I love romance. I need romance. Falling in love is one of the best feelings in the world and it feels magical to write those blossoming scenes.
Do you have any advice to offer aspiring authors? This question is always so hard for me to answer because I don't know how best to write. I've always just written and it's seemed to go well. But don't ever stop. If you feel that your writing isn't great right now, keep on writing. The improvements that I made from my first book to two years later in my seventh or something like that, is huge. If your passionate about writing, put in the effort and be prepared to put hours of work in. I've been living and breathing words for the past two years and there is nothing else that I would rather be doing. Also, read! Reading is a huge help to understand details and learn new words or expressions etc. Pay mind to the little things in stories. When is the dialogue prominent and when is the detail prominent. Also, Pinterest have a huge range of articles on writing. Read them! Utilise all the resources that you can :)
Do you plan to have a future involved with writing? One hundred percent. When I visualise five years ahead, I visualise real copies of my books. I visualise still being at my desk, tapping away at new ideas. I'm in too deep now. There's no backing out. Hahah.
What project are you currently working on? I am re writing Never Met a Girl Like Her and writing Pure Belleza. I update as often as I can but my kids are about to go on summer/Christmas break which means far less time writing because I don't hide away and write when they're home. It feels sort of neglectful and cruel. Haha.
To conclude the questions today, can you tell us a fun fact about yourself? These questions get me every time. I'm a terribly boring person. Haha. But a fact about me is that I HATED coffee until about a year ago. I was so stupidly tired from writing all night. I mean TIRED. I was so desperate that I made a coffee with FOUR sugars and drank the whole thing while I pinched my nose. These days I have at least two coffees a day and I'm down to two sugars which is healthier than four. Haha. So I have writing to blame for my newfound coffee addiction.
