Chapter 2

You paced impatiently, lively with energy despite the early hour. Izuku had woken you up alongside him so you could open the mail together. Today was the day the results came in. Today was the day you'd find out whether or not you made it.

"Kids why don't you sit down and eat?" Mom asked, watching with pursed lips as you paced a mark into the floor.

"I can't eat! I'm to nervous!" You muttered, handing running through your hair.

Izuku remained silent as you sat next to him and slowly tried to tame your frantic breathing. Mom sighed, opening the door and descending the stairs. You watched her in confusion but settled into the couch. Looking at your brother, you nudged him gently. "Are you excited?" You asked.

He looked at you and you yelped. His expression was almost scary in the fear that riddled his face. He gulped and you laughed shakily, sinking further into the couch. "Yeah... same..."

When the door opened again, mom hesitated in the doorway, glancing at you and Izuku. You launched to your feet alongside Izuku and snatched your envelope. Darting to your room, you slammed the door shut and hungrily ripped at the parchment.

Your eyes brimmed with joyful tears as you watched All Might explain the points. You received 35 Attack and 15 Rescue.

You were accepted. You couldn't help the cry of joy you released, flopping down on your bed as you whooped in excitement. Swinging out of the room, you came face to face with Izuku as he stepped from his room, almost in sync with you. Mom looked at the two of you and she smiled weakly, rushing over and embracing you in a warm hug.

"My babies are going to be heroes." She gushed.

You jumped excitedly in place as you twisted in the mirror to examine your uniform. It consisted of a full length gray jacket, the accents of green matching the skirt that stopped just above your knee. You decided to wear a pair of knee high black socks beneath under your shiny shoes. Twirling, you tied your hair back with the ribbon you held and bounced out of your room.

Izuku was already eating when you sailed forward, landing in front of your plate and wolfing it down. "Wow (Y/N)! Slow down!" Izuku warned, a smile across his face.

"I can't help it! I'm just so excited! And we're in the same class too! I wonder what our classmates will be like! Or our teacher! And what about the quirks we'll get to see?! That journal of yours is going to be overfilling by the time the day ends!" You gushed, excitement oozing from you.

Izuku laughed. "Maybe! To be honest I'm excited to see the others in our class. I really hope that girl is there..." He voice shrank as a blush covered his freckled face.

You giggled, elbowing him. "You like her don't you~" You purred.

"W-What?!" He stuttered. "No I don't! I don't even know her name!"

"Then you better pray she's in our class." You laughed, jumping to your feet. "I'm going now!"

"Hold on! I'm going too." Izuku said.

Mom smiled at you but you could see the hesitancy in her expression. For a moment you stopped before launching at her and embracing her in a tight hug. "Bye mom, wish me luck!"

She hugged you back, smiling more softly. "Good luck (Y/N). Watch your brother for me?"

You nodded dutifully and brandished a toothy grin. "Will do! Love you mom."

"I love you too sweetheart."

You beamed, turning and darting to meet next to Izuku. He held the door open for you, muttering his goodbyes to mom as you shuffled out the door.

This time the commute to the school seemed short and you arrived quickly at the front gate. You pulled Izuku behind you as you ran to the class. He kept up for the most part but you could hear the wheeze in his breathe.

Letting go just before the entrance, you bolted into the door, smiling broadly. You were so excited to meet the other students, you ran face first into the one already standing in the doorway. He cried shortly as he tumbled to the ground, your body crumbling above him as gravity took a sudden check.

You waited for the world to stop moving before looking at the person you fell on. You didn't acknowledge the position to which you fell, only that the person you fell on happened to radiate heat and had spiky blonde hair.

Silence hung in the air for a moment as the class of strangers looked at you and Bakugou on the ground.

"Bakugou you lucky fool! I didn't see you like that!" A short boy cried, orbs of purple seeming to replace his hair.

"Minata stop acting like scum!" Another hissed, a taller girl with black hair tied back in a ponytail.

Bakugou growled at you, shoving you off his back and on to the ground as he glared down at you. "Watching wear you're going you idiotic stripper!" He snapped.

"What did you just call me?! Take it back before I add your head to my personal collection!" You hissed, fist clenched tightly as you stood and faced him. "Come at me Ash Breath!"

Izuku grabbed your arm, towing you away from Bakugou and avoiding his gaze. "(Y/N), people are staring!" He warned.

"How the hell did Deku make it into 1-A?!" Bakugou barked, eyes shifting to your smaller brother.

"Piss off! He earned his way into this class, unlike a certain dumbass who probably got in by mistake." You retorted.

"(Y/N) don't let him get to you!" Izuku pled. "Let's just sit down..."

You looked back at him and then to Bakugou, repeating the action a fee times. Sighing, you gently pulled your arm from Izuku's grip and nodded. "Okay Izuku."

He sat down quietly, opening one of his journals as you took up the seat next to him. You sat in quiet, looking at your palms until you felt a soft tap on your shoulder. Turning around, you spotted the same brunette from before, the one who stopped Izuku from eating pavement. "Oh hey!" You chirped, smiling broadly. "It's you!"

"Yeah!" She smiled, tilting her head and making it seem even cuter. "I recognized you and Izuku from the examine so I wanted to come over and introduce myself. I'm Uraraka."

You nodded enthusiastically and offered a hand, "My name is (Y/N). It nice to finally meet the person who saved my brother from eating cement twice."

"Brother?" She questioned, looking confused. "But you have different..."

"Surnames? Yeah, I was sorta adopted in." You explained.

"Oh," Uraraka mused, giggling lightly. "That makes more sense."

You smiled happily, glancing at Izuku and nudging him out of his trance. "Hey bro! You didn't tell me you two were talking!" You cooed. "Shame on you for keeping secrets."

He looked back, seeing Uraraka then panicking slightly as he shook his head. "Wait no! I wasn't keeping secrets it just didn't-"

"Relax! I'm just teasing you." You snickered.

He relaxed, blushing slightly as he looked at Uraraka. You tapped the seat behind you and she sat happily, looking between you and Izuku. "Wow, you guys sure do act like siblings." She mused.

"Well we did grow up together." You offered with a grin. "When I was little-"

You were cut off when a dry cough rattled over the room, calling attention to the front where a man stood within the confines of a sleeping bag. "Hello students. My name is Eraser Head and I'll be your teacher this year. First thing first, go change." He said bluntly, expression void of any hint as to what was going on.

You sat in the baseball field, looking at sensei with a sense of childlike joy hidden in your guy.

"Now I know you had these test back in grade school, but you'll notice that in those test, you were limited by humane restriction, not allowed to use your quirk. Today I'm going to gauge your abilities at their fullest, meaning you'll be using your quirk to your advantage." Your smile broadened as you looked at the students around you. "Oh yeah, and the person who scores lowest will be expelled from the hero course." This made your smile fall.

Izuku seemed nervous, watching his fingers as his mind milled through anxious thoughts. Bakugou was the first to go, taking the baseball in hand and winding back a throw. As his arm shot forward, loud cracks filled the air as a blast from his arm propelled the baseball in humanely fast.

Aizawa sensei seemed unimpressed with it, glancing at a small device then recording it on his board. "Next!" He shouted, still scribbling on the board. No one jumped up to volunteer as you looked around. Bakugou seemed smug about it, as though the hesitancy was caused by him alone.

Growling under your breath, you muttered a quick "Watch me" to Izuku as you launched to your feet and smiled, raising a hand. "I'll go next!" You chirped, stepping up to the mound. Winding back, you threw the ball without using your quirk. Your classmates seemed surprised by your action, though Izuku seemed unphased. He anticipated your actions and prepared to move as you winked at him.

In a millisecond of a wave, your body disappeared and you melded with the air. Rushing to the ball, you shot a powerful stream of air beneath it, sending it almost fast enough to break the sound barrier as it sailed far past Bakugou's own distance.

"Impressive (Y/N)," Aizawa sensei muttered as you touched down again in your invisible body.

Izuku rushed to grab your clothing, running past the line of foliage in the trees and setting it down. "Thanks Izuku!" You whispered as he turned away.

You dressed quickly, hidden in the trees as you absentmindedly watched the others get in line to throw the baseball. When you were dressed again, your hand moved to grab your ribbon, only to find it missing. You frowned, looking around you frantically and searching for it.

"Where is it?!" You hissed, panicking lacing your tone.

After searching the foliage for ten minutes, you heard padded steps towards you and watched as green haired bobbed into view. "(Y/N) are you okay? You're taking forever." He asked.

"I can't find my ribbon!" You cried, searching through your clothing again and again and coming away with nothing.

"Are you sure? I was sure to grab it." Izuku asked.

"I'm sure! It's not anywhere!" You whined.

"Calm down (Y/N), we'll find it after class. I promise." He swore.

"Okay..." You said quietly, hands shaking faintly.

The day sped by after that. It was almost like a field day as you ran around and practiced with your quirk. You didn't get the chance to use your metal or water part of the quirk, but in fire and air you were able to make a decent standing in the class. However Izuku wasn't doing as well. After the baseball throw, he didn't really have another good score. It was as though he was avoiding his quirk and you began to feel worried.

Please Izuku, you gotta catch up! You can't get cut, this is your dream!

As the day wound down, Aizawa sensei reviewed the scores and listed them off accordingly. Your throat felt as though it had been pinched shut, closing more and more tightly as the list descended and you didn't hear Midoriya's name.

Please! Izuku please pull through!

"And lastly, Midoriya Izuku." He announced.

You felt like you deflated as you looked at Izuku. It looked almost as though his world shattered.

"Oh, and that rule isn't true, no one is getting cut from the program." He said bluntly, looking at Izuku directly.

Both you and your brother visibly relaxed with large sighs of relief. "Class dismissed. Go get changed." Sensei announced, waving us off.

You nodded happily and rushed to Izuku's side where Uraraka already stood. He seemed both relieved and disappointed at the same time. "Come on Izuku! You just have to train some more." Uraraka cheered. "It nothing to much to get upset over!"

You approached more slowly, allowing her the time to cheer him up. At the last second, you decided to avert your path and get changed before confronting your brother. Jogging to the locker room, you changed quickly and left, feeling panic well again when you couldn't tie your ribbon around your head.

I lost it during the baseball part, so it has to somewhere around there... hopefully...

You ran to the baseball field and began to search, eyes scanning every inch of dirt for the (F/C) ribbon. "Come on come ooonn! It's gotta be here somewhere!"

As you clawed through the dirt your heart proceeded to pound at your chest. "I can't loose it! I gotta find it!"

"Looking for this?" A deep voice asked, snatching your attention as you drew it back to the only person you didn't ever want to see.

I'm Bakugou's grip you saw your (F/C) ribbon dangle from his fingertips and you instinctively growled. He jumped slightly before smirking. "This is really that important to you?" He asked, holding it in his eyes and feigning disgust. "It's just an old scrap of garbage."

"How did you get that?" You snarled, standing up straight.

"Deku dropped it when he ran to give you your clothing. I remembered you always wore the same one and decided to hold on to it. Guess I was right to."

"Give it back!" You ordered. "It's not yours!"

"So? You don't get to order me around!" He barked, shoving the ribbon into his pocket.

You approached him quickly, shoving him off balance and yelling. "It's swear to God Kacchan! You don't understand what that means to me! Give it back!"

"Don't call me that!" He growled, hand hovering over the ribbon.

"It's said give it back!" You screamed, launching at his hand as he narrowly evaded.

Using air pressure you stayed on your feet without much room for error as you tried to liberate your ribbon from its captor.

"Dear God Bakugou just give it to me!" You barked, growing more and more violent.

He pushed you back, your body hitting the chain fence behind the home base. Bakugou stood over you, his expression menacing as he looked down at you and trapped you between his two arms.

"I thought I told you to stop bossing my around." You hissed venomously.

Your face flushed red, the heat from Bakugou's words rolling off him as it brushed your lips. You tried to remain solid, but as you looked up at a Bakugou you suddenly felt so small. You broke your gaze and stared down at your feet, teeth clenched and grinding.

Growing quiet, you hid your face in your loose hair and asked quietly, "Kacchan please. Give me back my ribbon." You asked tenderly, voice nearly breaking.

He hesitated, stumbling back a step as he tried to look at you. "Why is it so important to you?" He asked.

"Because it's the last thing I have from her.... my real mother."

He froze this time, watching as you blinked back the moisture in your eyes. "You should relate shouldn't you? She got killed by a villain right after I met you that day. You should know what it's like to feel helpless to a villain."
