Now that their summer break was over, Harry was dreading going back to school. But at least he'd be back with his friends; he'd get to see Louis every day! He knows it's wrong that he's in love with his best friend, but he just can't help it. He'd be lying if he said he hadn't tried to push Louis aside before; tried to ignore his feelings for the sake of their friendship. But every time the smaller boy walked into the room, Harry fell all over again.
They had been friends for two years now, even though Louis was in high school while Harry was still in middle school. But he was about to start high school, literally; today was his first day and he couldn't be more excited to be going to school with Louis. Even if it was for only a year, now that Louis was a senior.
Harry was practically bouncing off the walls with excitement, if it weren't for his mother telling him to settle down and be patient he would have gone out to the bus stop half an hour earlier than he needed to. He was sad that Louis wouldn't be catching his bus, but he knew that they could hang out at lunch all day.
Sure he had other friends, but a few of them went to to different schools, and none of them were as good as Louis, so Harry would wait patiently until he could see the older boy.
Harry waited at the bus stop along with the other children. When he could see the bus coming around the corner in the distance, he stood immediately and smiled widely. As the bus pulled up, all the older kids pushed to the front of the line so they could sit up the back, but Harry didn't mind, if he got a seat up the front he could get off quicker.

Harry was walking along side his other closest friend Niall, who knew all about Louis, and even hung out with the two a couple of times. Niall liked Louis, but he could see that Harry liked Louis in a different way. Not that he'd ever say anything, it was something the boy would have to figure out on his own.
After their introduction and first few classes, it was lunch break, and Harry couldn't wait to see Louis. He and Niall found a table and sat with some of the other freshmen that they'd met during the day. They were ten minutes in when a much older boy came over to their table.
"Hey, Harry!" The younger boy looked straight up into Louis blues eyes and hoped he couldn't see the way his own twinkled with delight in the presence of them. "Louis!" He cheered and stood up to give him a hug. "How's your first day been, love?" Louis asked and Harry's stomach fluttered, even after all this time, even after knowing he called everyone Love, the nickname still got to Harry.
"It's been great, I've made some new friends, but everything is so different" Harry uttered and Louis smiled down at the young boy. "That's great Harry, you know I'm always here if you need anything-" Louis was interrupted by a group of boys walking up to them with a soccer ball, "C'mon Louis, we're going to kick the ball around" the guy holding the ball said.
"Just gimme a sec" Louis nodded and they walked away. He looked down at Harry with a guilty look. "I've gotta go Haz, but I'll see you after school, yeah?" Louis said and began walking backwards towards the back door. Harry put on a smile, "Sure." Is all he said and Louis smiled, turning and jogging after his friends.
Harry sat down and got a sympathetic look from Niall. "It's fine, Ni. I knew he'd have other friends. It's fine" Harry shrugged and Niall just nodded. "Do you know a senior, Harry?!" one of the kids asked from across the table, in wonder. "Yeah, he's my best friend" Harry smiled. And thanks to that little tidbit, the other freshmen decided Harry was the coolest kid in their year, boosting Harry to the top of the bottom of the food chain.

After school, it wasn't long before Louis and his mum and sisters were over at the styles house.
As it turned out, Anne and Johannah were friends from high school, and conveniently ran into each other at the grocery store, only days after Harry and Louis met at the park.
So Anne dragged Harry with her to "go see an old friend" and when Harry got there and was standing only a few feet away from Louis again, he couldn't help the dimpled smile that spread across his face. And after that meeting, Louis and Harry grew closer, getting to know one another, now that they weren't 'strangers'. And soon after, their 'bromance' blossomed. After that, it seemed they were always over at the others house; always begging there mothers to go see the other.
"How was your first day Harry?" Jay asked sweetly as Anne sat a cup of coffee in front of her. "It was good. The other kids in my year think I'm cool because I know a senior" he smiled over at Louis. "Well of course knowing me makes you popular. Who doesn't want to know me?!" Louis smiled and jay gave him scoff and a light slap on the arm. "Get out of here you." She chuckled. "You too Harry, go play" Anne laughed.
So they walked past Louis' sisters scattered out on the floor, playing with their dolls, and headed towards Harry's room. They pulled out the Xbox controllers and sat on Harry's bed. "So. Hazza, my boy. Give me the deets. I want all the dirty gossip of the freshmen world" Louis spoke, watching the TV.
Harry shrugged, "there's not a lot to say. Niall and I sit with the popular kids, the cool boys and the pretty girls. Oh! And Mr Colton is just the worst!" Harry spat and Louis laughed loudly. "You got Mr Colton?! You poor sucker." Harry felt his cheeks heat up, but pushed it aside.
