jewel pov
I returned from the toilet, it was terribly hard to find since for some reason they don't have any signs up for it, like I swear to you I walked past like 3 toilets before figuring out that the sketchy doors were toilets.
"What did I miss?" I whispered to Isaac, "just some history about the royal family and a crown. Hey princess, you think you could touch it?" He nudged me, confusing me. "Why wouldn't I be able to touch a crown?" I furrowed my eyebrows, "it's nothing, he's messing around," Nova came behind us. "Oh c'mon Nova, what did I really miss?" I tilted my head, I could sense they were hiding something.
"It's some bullshit about the origins of how the ministry came to be, nothing that would interest you." She smiled, "if you say so," I replied, as we moved forward to the next artefact. "I don't get why you'd hide it from her," Isaac muttered, "because she'd want to do it, and I don't want her getting hurt," Nova replied, making me turn around. "Both of you are terrible at whispering," I smiled, making them awkwardly shrug.
After the trip ended and we were heading home, it was about 3pm, "Taehyung's probably still at Krim, all classes are finished should we pay him a visit?" Nova asked me, I nodded, I wanted to see his hands tremble in fear as he tried to write notes inside the cells. God I can't wait to tease him forever. "I'll skip, my father wants to talk to me about something, family dinner." Isaac rolled his eyes, "well then I'll see you later," I said when he suddenly grabbed my hand and kissed it.
"Goodbye princess," he whispered making me raise my eyebrows in surprise and look over to Nova who was trying not to laugh. "Right, bye," I chuckled, as we separated ways.
"Krim isn't that far, about 30 minutes from here, we'll make it just in time for his last cell visit," Nova calculated looking at her watch, as we grabbed a taxi carriage, just saying it makes me laugh. I can't believe they don't have cars here. Once we got to Krim I immediately felt a shiver run down my back, "scared already? It is the prison for our worst criminals." Nova warned me, patting my shoulder. We headed inside, entering as Paradox students here to check on our friend.
"Kim Taehyung." We said his name to the receptionist, she did some typing on her keyboard and started laughing. "Go all the way down," she smiled, leaving both of us in confusion. We slowly headed down the elevator, "you know I don't get it, why does the ED even a prison centre, can't we just send bad people to hell?" I said.
"It's different, hell is my home, demons home. We see hell very differently, it's more comforting, the real hell where evil souls get banished to, is terrifying. But you can only go there once you're dead, unless the queen gives you access but she doesn't do that for anyone. It's the same with heaven, we can't see any dead souls around because they're on the other side of paradise. If we lived in their half of the realm people would go crazy spending time with souls that are meant to enjoy afterlife, or in hells case, an eternity of suffering and repentance for things they did during their life." She explained.
"But if my father, let me see the other side of heaven, could I visit Seojun? Or my godfather?" I questioned, as the elevator reached the bottom floor and the doors opened. "Jewel, our souls are what go to heaven or hell. They were killed by the nefarious, who don't just kill you, they turn your soul into dust. You can't go to heaven or hell if you don't have a soul..." she looked at me with pity, holding my hand to comfort me. "O-oh, never mind then," I faked a smile, trying to change the topic as we left the elevator.
"What are you girls doing down here?" A guard raised his eyebrow, "to see a friend," I said. "Well then I assume you're not talking about the serial killer, your friend just went inside, come." He led us into a room with a bunch of technology and glass which was controlling the cell behind it.
Through the glass we could see Taehyung standing as far as he could from something on the left corner of the room. "He can't see you nor hear you," the guard told us. "Serial killer? Zanira? That vampire you've caged in here for the past 2 centuries? My friend was here for a mere punishment day, how could you let him in there?" Nova got angry at the guard.
"Relax, Zanira's a bat for now and chooses to sleep for a couple years, he won't wake up. We heard we should scare him as much as we should, you kids need this type of stuff, really builds your personality." He replied, sipping on his coffee. -BOOM- we all flew back due to the sudden explosion. "What on earth just happened?" We all groaned, looking at the board of technology that had suddenly blown up into bits. Only thing left behind was a symbol, the nefarious symbol.
"We need to contact the ministry, NOW," the guard attempted to get up and leave, the explosion had only caused minor injuries. "No what about Taehyung? We need to get him out." I reached up for his wrist, still on the floor, not being able to process what just happened. "We can't."
"That technology was what controlled the cell, including the door. With it broken, we can't open the door, meaning your friend is stuck inside." He massaged his temples, me and Nova got up dusting ourselves off. "Ok, why can't we just break the door? It's only glass, we can quickly do some sort of fixing spell to get it back up again incase the vampire wakes up and tries to escape-"
"Don't you get it? We can't. The glass is powered by an indestructible shield spell, only the most powerful can even dream of breaking. I'm going to deliver this situation message to the ministry, and try get into contact with someone who can get the system running again. I'm sorry about your friend, but he's not gonna be out," he left the room just like that. We could see Taehyung still casually writing down notes since he couldn't have heard the explosion that had just occurred, we couldn't even tell him he was stuck.
"He'll be fine. He's a fear eater, he probably has that bag stacked with snacks because he knew how scared he'd be today, so at least he won't starve. And prisoner vampires compel themselves to fall asleep for years to pass time in the cell. As for this one he must choose to sleep for at least 20 years at a time, he's sentenced eternity in there. Blood is the only thing that will wake that vampire up. Taehyung's just lucky he isn't human, because that vampire hasn't smelled the scent of one in centuries, he would go mad. Which is why, you must never even attempt to step foot in there, your powers haven't activated, your blood is the same as humans. It'd make that vampire go as crazy as a werewolf on a full moon." Nova warned.
"In short, all Tae needs to do to survive, is not bleed?" I took a deep breath, making Nova nod.
"But he's a clumsy piece of shit." I said, absolutely concerned and shitting myself for him. "He'll probably trip over a rock or bite his lips in fear so hard they'd rip and spill blood, he's going to bleed one way or another and then his blue blood is going to get sucked out of his body UGH." I vented out, taking a huge breath after I did, wow I'm panicking.
"Let's just hope for the best, maybe they'll get a really good wizard to fix this all up by tomorrow." Nova suggested, trying to be positive, "we both know that's not possible," we sat down on the floor that was filled with scraps and the remains of the technology blast. -knockknock- we both looked to the glass to see Taehyung ever so politely ask to get let out, there was nothing we could do. The glass was tinted, he couldn't see us, we were the only ones who could hear him.
"So we just sit here and watch him?" I closed my eyes in annoyance, I felt so useless. "There's nothing else we can do, let's just hope the guard brings back some positive news." She replied, just as she said that the door opened, and entered 2 people. "He's the wizard who made this technology, he can fix it," the guard spoke, "how long? How long will it take?" I got up from the ground and asked. "About 4 days," the wizard replied. "And if he dies by then? That's a 16 year olds death on your hands, unless you wanna live with that guilt for the rest of your life, hurry it up." I glared at both of them, before walking out the room.
I started hyperventilating, immediately I reached into my pocked for my phone, the phone Taehyung and Nova bought. I hadn't downloaded any songs but there was this one track already there. I didn't know what it was but I plugged in my earphones and pressed play. Is that... Taehyung's voice...?
Like last time, his voice had calmed me down, after finally finding some inner peace, I went back inside, the wizard had already cleaned up the entire thing, and had started to do some things with the technology. "I apologise for my behaviour earlier, I shouldn't have been so snappy, it wasn't your fault." I told them.
"It's alright kid, I understand, we're all worried for him in there. I told the ministry about the symbol, they'll start investigating the entrance activity, don't worry about it." The guard patted me on the shoulder.
It was now about 10pm, I sent Nova home because she didn't look so well, and the wizard said he'd come back early in the morning to continue his work. The guard was sleeping on the floor next to me, while I just stared at Taehyung panicking through the glass. I wish somehow we could deliver him the message, that we'd have him out soon. But we can't do that unless, unless we get into his head... DAD.
"Father if you're watching me right now, I beg of you, please get inside Taehyung's head. Tell him that the nefarious caused an explosion so we can't get the door open, but they're fixing it as fast as they can. Tell him not to bleed or panic, tell him everything's going to be ok." I looked down at my ring.
You're giving me a whole lot shit to tell him.
I heard in my head, making me smile.
