The rest of the walk was silent, I tried my best to hear her thoughts but as usual the attempt was useless. "We're here..." I gave her delicate hand a slight squeeze, they were still interlocked and although it was not much, I liked that I gave her a feeling of slight comfort. She didn't bother to look at the grand golden gate of the ED. We entered and it was already evening, I took her to one of my friends house, because I figured she'd feel more comfortable with a female presence.

My friend lived in the woods, so the trek was quite a bit until we reached her house. I threw a rock to her window to get her attention, "Nova! Down here." I signalled her to come down. Seeing a girl with me, she smirked, quickly hurrying down her steps to come out.

"Did V bring a girl to my doorstep?" She teased. "It's cold, can we go inside first," I said, pushing both the girls inside. I greeted her parents, before going up to her bedroom.

"This is Jewel... she's a little uhm, out of it-"

"I'm fine. Hi," she cut me off, extending her arm for a handshake. "Hey I'm Nova Harlow," her sweet voice replied, she was quite the social butterfly.

"Oh Jackson, remember when I told you that I had a friend who's powers activated at an earlier age due to circumstances? This is her, Nova's one of the brightest of our generation," I spoke highly of Nova since she was deserving.

"Wait, Jackson? As in, THE Jackson? AS IN SHE'S-" Nova looked at me, eyes wide as they get. "Yeah haha," I awkwardly laughed, Nova attempted to pull me away for a second but something stopped me. My hand was still interlocked with Jewel's. I looked at my hand, then at Jewel, then at Nova.

"Are you guys..." Nova looked down at our hands, we both let go and coughed. "Me? And him? Don't disrespect my standards like that," Jewel looked almost disgusted making Nova laugh, and although it offended me I brushed it off.

"But Mr Kim, you have a lot of explaining to do. You've brought a bloody malefic to my house, what do I tell my parents? You know how much they believe in the prophecy." Nova whispered, quiet enough for only me to hear, she was a kind person and wouldn't want to hurt Jewel's feelings.

"We're moving into the school dorms soon anyways, just for the weekend, please," I pleaded her. "You aren't thinking of taking her to the Paradox are you? She hasn't even got an admission there, the head will freak," Nova panicked at my suggestion. "Well, we'll work that bit out tomorrow," I shrugged. "Fine, now get going."

"Your journey must've been rough, here, you can change into my clothes. We can go shopping tomorrow and get you all the latest fashion clothing." She smiled, her warmth made me feel slightly better. I accepted the clothes and thanked her, "come down for dinner after you're changed, I'll have to introduce you to my parents." Nova told me before she exited the room. I changed into the oddly comfortable clothing, leaving the room.

"Wow."

I turned around to see a boy around our age, leaning against the door frame looking at me. "You're pretty," the boy was quite straightforward. "And you're ugly, move it," Nova came up the stairs, shaking her head. "I'm Nick Harlow, I'm only a year younger than you ladies, it's a pleasure to meet you," he took my hand and kissed it as if it was the norm, but yet again it might be. "Hi?" I tilted my head, confused on what I should say. "Forget him Jewel, dinners ready," she grabbed my hand pulling me down the stairs.

I sat down at the dining table, it was full of delicious looking dishes. "I heard Nova brought a friend over, I rushed in some more dishes, I'm sorry if it doesn't taste the best," her mum spoke. "No I'm sure they taste as wonderful as they smell," I assured her.

The whole family sat at the table, this was my first time having a real family dinner, my fa- godfather was quite a distant man and rarely stayed home. "So, what's your name?" Her father asked. "Uhm, Jewel," I awkwardly replied as my mouth was full of food. We continued eating when her father took a napkin wiping the corners of his lips, "who did you say your parents were Jewel?" He questioned making Nova choke on her food.

"Oh I didn't," I gave a faint smile. "Dad, her parents stay outside the magic world, they're, Mr and Mrs... uh, WHITEHOUSE."

She blurted making me look at her with a questionable look, she shot me a 'hurry up and make me sound plausible' expression.

"R-Right yeah, Jewel Whitehouse," I struggled to keep a straight face at the absurd name. "Oh wow, so you've met allora's before. I've read all about them," her mother spoke.

"Oh yes, they're not much different from us," I said. "Except they're useless," Nick chuckled. "Oh quiet boy, have you been practicing spells like I told you to? You'll be starting at Paradox next year, there's no time to waste, get a head start with my books." His father scolded him making me smile just the slightest before I took a sip of water. "Oh Jewel, how are you with spells-"

I choked on the water before he could even finish the sentence. "Hey are you ok?" Nova patted me on the back, I shook my head and excused myself to the toilet. I washed my face and looked at myself finally taking this alone time to realise everything I had found out today. What the fuck is life? Everything I thought to be true was a lie, my whole view on life has flipped but that's okay. I'm going to be okay.

"He died because of me, so I better live the best life I can. For him."

I wiped my face with a towel before exiting the toilet. "What happened there?" Nova stood outside the door worried. "My powers haven't activated yet," I gave an awkward smile.

"Oh fuck, your light must be different too," she spoke under her breath, "what do you mean?" I asked.

"Well, your magic light is the colour of your blood, it symbolises what you are. For example," she pricked her finger with a sharp edge of the wall and pushed out a little bit of blood. "I'm a demon, so my bloods bitter red. As soon as my powers activated my blood changed colour, just like my magic, look." She balled her hand into a fist and then opened it to show a red light. Remembering back at my house, that man had blue blood, an angel was part of the nefarious? Damn. "So your light would be-"

"Violet." I cut her off, she smiled and nodded. "Exactly, and once your powers activate, your blood will change colour too. It's quite exciting actually," she chuckled.

"What about individual powers? What's yours?" I asked curiously, "water manipulation, it's quite a fun power to have on family beach trips," she replied.

"But, aren't you scared of me? Everyone knows the prophecy," I looked down, I really liked her personality, I wanted to be friends with her but what if she just felt forced to be friends with me since I'm living here for a couple days.

"Look at you. You don't look like someone who's going to destroy the world, rather I see potential to save it." She tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear, giving me a reassuring smile. "Now get some sleep, tomorrows a long day."

Next morning

We woke up quite early to head out for shopping, it was Saturday and Nova claimed there would be a huge rush in the market. She gave me one of her dresses to wear, it reminded me of olden time England wear. And going out the house, into the streets, I realised everyone dressed like that.

"You'll join school just in time for the winter ball, what a dramatic entrance," Nova nudged me with a bit of excitement. "Oh we have so many things to get, hurry along now," she pulled my wrist to a grand shop while I wondered why Taehyung was nowhere to be seen. "Hey my phones battery died, do you happen to have a charger here?" I asked.

"A charger will be of no use, a phone from earth won't work here, you'll have to get a phone from a store here, but I must warn you, they're expensive." She put her hand on my shoulder making me sigh, I guess I'm not going to sleep tonight, no phone means no music. And no music means no escape.

After a long day of shopping we headed home, finally running into Taehyung who was waiting for us beside the tree. "Jackson! The head teacher said they sent you an invite to school a while ago, you're admitted there," he said. "They said they sent a fox to deliver the letter, did you not receive it?" He raised his eyebrow.

Suddenly a letter flew into my sight, appearing like magic.

- Come home Azriel.

The fox turned around, walking away at a leisurely pace. It swivelled around it's head, flashing me what I swear to you looked like a smirk. And then? Poof.

"I'M AZRIEL?"
